Hey!!! All you NEETs, nerds, YouTube link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis,
Yukorin enthusiasts, Nanako SOS admirers, Part-Time-Preachers,
Diplomats' spoiled sons, losers who can't remember Kanji characters,
Big-boobs fans, Weeaboo from around the world, learners of Japanese
who are too lazy to update their Japanese blogs very often, cunning
linguists, stupid fan girls of Johnny's Boys, Touhou pirates, and
that electrical super-gay who suffers from mental disease - This is your thread!
Let's hope Igirisu-jin and the Internet-addicted housewife will come back soon!

This is the place to have a blast!!!!!
Let's continue to support recovery efforts in Japan!!!!!

I'm not the person スウェーデン人 asked a question at the end
of the previous thread, and I'm not sure I understand the question
completely but let me answer.

It seems that the same ID is allocated to a person only one day.
another day, different ID is allocated, it seems. Not sure allocate is an
appropriate word or not, though. I mean, your ID is the same today no matter how many
posts you posted but the next day, the ID is changed to a different one. It seems they are all
random IDs and you can't distingusih where the post is from. It's just that a post with an ID means
it's posted from overseas, it seems. If someone claim they post from Japan although
their post is with an ID, I'd say "you are lying. your post is with ID.
It's a deeeaaaaaaaaaadddd giveawayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy."
5名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/06/20(木) 20:05:22.08
OOpps... >>>999 in the previous thread was already answered to your question...
I copied and pasted it below just in case.

>As far as I know, IDs are completely random. No unique ID for IP or country.

The ID is not displayed on your screen? Only people who have access to 2ch from Japan
can see IDs?

Good, you're enjoying your stay!
Regarding the girls from Miyajima, as a Hiroshima local, I never heard of it.
I've been to Miyajima countless times in my life but, I can't say that
from my own experience, either. But come to think of it, it's difficult to see
Miyajima girls because, all you see there are tourists. Only chance to identify
them I think is when they work at suvenior shops, or hotels but, I don't think girls
working there (maybe daughrters of owners?) are particularly beautiful.

I don't know but maybe the person from Nagoya is talking abuot Miko(shrine maidens).
You can see lots of Miko on new years holidays at Itsukushima shrine.
The white clothes attracts some men. Fetish thing I guess? The most of the Miko you see during New Years holiday
I think are probably high schoolers doing part-time job. They look attractive to some men.
Again, it's never common belief that Miyajima girls are the most attractive. Never heard of it.

Yes, midsummer celebrations are a thing here. And it's a big thing
especially in the region of Sweden where I live.

I don't have anything exciting planned myself, but lots of people go
home to their families for this holiday, and traditional celebrations
with maypoles and music are everywhere.

I don't really need to be unique though, the name is just to say that
this anonymous person happens to be Swedish.

Years ago, when I first started posting, there were several people
posting as アメリカ人 (and other countries too) and it seemed like a
good idea to say where I'm from.

Now of course there aren't any other people from Sweden posting in 2ch,
so it seems more like a name. But I like anonymous posting, and that
was the idea..

Thanks for the information! Actually, I'm on Miyajima right now, heading to the ropeway. I was just at Itsukushima Shrine, and the mikos seem to be better (aesthetically).

now that you are in hiroshima, i hope you will go hunting for hibagon.
41名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/06/22(土) 16:40:44.78
It's quite a scenery in Miyajima when you go up with the ropeway
You'll see many monkeys there
Today is very sunny so I think you can see all the way. The blue clear sky and the sea
Can't you see Shikoku from there? I did before

Near the Ohnoura JR station, (close to Miyajima) there are pretty good hot springs around there
but you have got to walk about 20min or so to get there
You'll see some slope by the route 2 by the sea
There is a big sign saying, "Miyahama Onsenn(宮浜温泉)"
You get to see pretty nice view from there. There are many hot springs but I prefer
Miyahama Grand hotel`s hot spring. Really nice scenery but most people from outside don`t know
If you have a car then it'll be much faster and they have the free parking lot
42名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/06/22(土) 16:49:24.61
Right in between Miyajima and Ohnoura,
I thought there was Maezora station and when you get off that station,
right by the station, there is a huge Japanese restaurant(with free parking lot)
They serve this very huge chicken. Salt or Tare flavor is nice

If you'd gone out much earlier then Iwakuni was so very close from Miyajima and
that place is also beautiful with this Japanese bridge, castle, and
some Japanese traditional houses. Also you get to see white snake as well
That snake is considered so sacred

Anyways, enjoy your day!

Speaking of Hiroshima, I want to try Hiroshima okonomiyaki
55名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/06/22(土) 22:05:51.25
Actually I live in many places since I was very young

I`d never stayed in one place for such a long time
I`d stayed with my family sometimes, sometimes in the student dome,
both domestic and abroad, lived with my grandparents, grand-aunt, and with aunts who were still single
at that time

It was quite nice to have relatives all over the place, mostly Chugoku and Kansai areas
Also my ex was transferred to many places so I guess this is quite something

Surprising? I was raised in Hiroshima when I was very young for several years,
with my grandparents and grand-aunts. My mom had a health problem so
I was raised by them. When I grew up, my family finally came to pick me up
Although, I was sent to school with dome to study

o capito?

my grandma took me to this really nice place but it was gone several years ago
I`d heard there is some good Okonomiyaki in Kaita area from locals, but never been there before

I prefer the very famous one called, " hasshou"
Just in the middle of the city

When I was so young, I remember there were many elderly women cooking Okonomiyaki everywhere
but now those women had passed out. Those were so delicious

Many memories over there. I sometimes see grandma in Hiroshima

Compare to the big cities like Tokyo and Osaka, it is not that so urban
but very compact. To tour around Hiroshima, you need to have a car
Many people just see A-bomb dome and Miyajima but that`s so boring for locals

Hiroshima has really nice access of highway to many places
I go to Yamaguchi to see the ocean, the mountain area for the really good hot springs,
and to have very fresh fish I go to Shimane prefecture

Nowadays, there is this really nice bridges which connect Hiroshima to Ehime prefecture,
Simanami-kaido. It`s really nice for cycling. It`s about 2hrs from Hiroshima city
Very good scenery and good foods

No fun here without a car

I really love how Indian talks in English
I`d watched this Indian speaking English on you tube but
that was so hilarius

Also Chinese English is very unique. It`s like Chinese English
and it`s not that difficult to understand. That is pretty amazing
b/c when Japanese talks in English, they have this weird "R" sound
and their pronouciation is quite flat, so sometimes it`s difficult to understand
80名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/06/22(土) 23:07:43.02

Anyway, we've just had a discussion on a ruchan about how peculiar it is that j-rock,
j-pop and classical music are mentioned in anime, manga and light novels almost
constantly, yet various genres like techno, dubstep and noise are almost never mentioned.
I thought to ask you directly and see for myself what's your opinion about it.
So, your thoughts?

When compared to the English counterparts such as penis or cock, I think the sound of the word " nikubou" is more suitable
for the object.

I guess his nikubou is entirely covered with foreskin.
So You'd better peel it and then clean it up with soap so that all of the " chinkasu"
are completely removed.
Sorry, I don't know how you say "chinkasu" in English.

actually hiroshima dialect is what the lord was using a long time ago

Maybe some just hate women

I think women is way too complicated and if I wasn`t a woman then
I would probably hated women
140名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/06/23(日) 13:30:25.67
unlike women, men are more simple, I guess...don`t know b/c I`m not a man

there are a lot of conflicts among women as well and it is very exausting sometimes
They are not satisfied all the times, no matter what others do for them

Men tend to want to be heroes when they are young but soon or later
they`ll learn there is no cure for women
141名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/06/23(日) 13:34:49.08

I`m more like man type, but partly so woman

When I was young I really couldn`t understand guys who whine a lot
and gave me sick feelings
Although, I`d learned that good part of it

So working out both brains will be the good way to maintain
peaceful society

Of course it is my business. I am trying to get a feel of what
your people are feeling. I am not trying to understand,
Like I tried to feel why every foreigner visiting this thread
this thread was assigned a sexual role. You guys offered sex,
threatened with sex, referred to sex when expressing ordinary thoughts.
I could not relate to any of this. It is a claustrophobic, inward looking
feeling. It has become an impulsive reflex almost, to reply
with sexual references. Almost like you were traumatised regarding sex
and there is a deep wound in your soul. I sense that in this thread.
and when I invite you to reflect on it, there is a self denying,
sharp refusal.
161名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/06/23(日) 19:46:42.34

I lived a long time in the UK, Europe and North America.
But I was exposed to English since age seven, on and off.
Studied English in my home planet from age 12 onwards,
but I am not sure if that worked. It wasn't until
I was in the UK that I really had to sit exams for
university entrance. I realised I had to make an extra effort.
I had enormous support from my English language teachers.
They went out of their way to help me outside the normal timetable.
I am most grateful to them. One thing I really loved was writing essays.
I was writing stories and in order to describe the feelings I felt
I used the dictionary intensively. Because I wanted to be able
to convey those feelings, very strongly. Language learning is more
emotive than logical IMHO.

True, but if the popularity in Japan of such genres is at least equal to the popularity in Russia and/or America, I don't see any reasons why it shouldn't be mentioned at all.
I mean,if you look at American movies, you can definitely see various clubs, where the music of these kinds is played, and even archetypical DJs, "techies" who love such music, etc.
The actual question is, seeing as anime, manga and light novels seem to explore various subcultures, why is that this particular subculture is ignored?
193Russia-kun:2013/06/23(日) 22:07:48.07 ID:TYOlw3lp!
Of course, I meant American movies as the example of media coverage which plays a major role in forming of society's opinion.
Sorry, if that isn't clear from the first glance.

Most guys really do not know how to cope with women so they`re just
half a human. Their opinion is just one of their imagination

I admit that they are pretty good with business and studies but
I would say that they are not really good at taking care of family
or loving woman. So their philosophy and opinion is quite weak

Hi, Australian here. Just thought I'd offer my perspective on this topic.
I understand you think my government is wrong about this.
And personally I would agree with you on that.
But as long as this dispute exists between our governments, having the matter settled
by a court seems like a logical course of action.
As long as Japan's activities are lawful, the case should pose no concerns, right?
And once the court makes its decision, both countries can put the dispute behind them.
In any event, I don't think there's anything 'logical' about judging a whole country
as illogical due to the actions of their government.
The average Australian really doesn't care about Japanese whaling.

Does someone even actually care? I mean, every nation has problems with stereotypical views of foreigners.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, if it's actually their own opinion, and not someone else's,
and if they can properly argument said opinion. I mean, damn, one of my friends is a religious fanatic and
the other one is (or at least was) a person of right-wing views. But still, we value the freedom of each
other's views, if we can properly argument them, and we never say that our beliefs are the right ones, because
there're no "right" beliefs. If proper logic that is built on said beliefs is contradictory, then that
means that either the belief is wrong, or there's an error in said logic's construction. Ergo, there are no "right"
beliefs, only wrong ones. Dunno why I'm bothering to write this lengthy paragraph.

Well, "trope" implies you take away the details and boil things down to
the simplest possible thing that product A and product B have in common,
so I guess a complete description is out of the question.

This also gets into statistics and compression, if one wants to go down
that rabbit hole, but that seems a bit much for this small comment box.

As for the music thing, mainstream is mainstream, I guess.

taste. But I think it is mainly because of a yuzu source or something. In this kind of pre-summer-humidity-season

253Russia-kun:2013/06/25(火) 17:42:13.47 ID:1QWnxi2R!
>>250
I strongly disagree. The term "trope" encompasses an extreme amount of things, starting with basic things like plots and settings, moving onto more complex concepts
like narrative devices or characterization, and ending with things that are only tangent to narrative like paratext or recurring motifs.
Thus, if one would have an ideal set (read:complete) of ideal tropes (read: tropes, which are so basic that they can't be broken down any further),
he would be able to fully reconstruct any media product (of course, we're talking about media with clear narration here).
In real life, it's possible to reconstruct any media product to a certain degree of reliability, basically, until it fits subjective criteria of similarity.
Discovery of more and more advanced tropes is merely a matter of pattern recognition.

256スウェーデン人:2013/06/25(火) 17:59:20.73 ID:pVePPV9u!
>>253
I guess we have different definition of what a trope is. To me, the word
implies something generic, simplified, lacking detail.

But anyway, at the extreme point of getting a complete reconstruction,
I would say that one would necessarily end up with something that is
indistinguishable from what one started with - that is, if one could
find tropes that *completely* describe some media (a film, say), it
would be fair to just call it a compression technique or a codec.

Now I unfortunately have to go and be useful for a while..

We're currently discussing other question, actually. Whatever.
My previous question wasn't "Why techno/dubstep/noise/whatever electronic music genre isn't used in Japanese anime?", because it is used, albeit rarely.
Rather, my question was "Why there are no listeners of such genres in anime in-universe?"
Because, from my point of view, anime seems to explore a lot of different subcultures.
Yet, there also a lot cultures that anime just seems to ignore. The case with electonic music is just an example of such deliberate disregard.
If you're actually interested, I have time to discuss it right now.

True.
I find it a really interesting idea, because if one would be able
to distill (or, in your terms, compress) media to a basic set of tropes,
then one would be able to enkoy the narrative without any actual sensory
input (much like books or complete scripts, but on even higher level of advancement).
Truly fascinating.

Basically, yes. There is quite a lot of coverage of various more or less regular genres in anime, like rock (Beck), jazz (Sakamichi no Apollon),
classical music (Nodame Cantabile), J-Pop (K-On! is actually pretty infamous in russian anime circles) and many other genres.
Yet electronic music never seems to show up. And it's not like electronic music is any less popular than, for example, jazz (or,
at least, that's my speculations on your culture). So, I'm interested in causes of this.

I'm poor like Charls Ramsey so what I order at McDonald's is a cheese burger
and a coffee. The coffee is free because I use a coupon. So I pay
150 yen. (it was 120 yen a while ago but they raised the price to 150 yen)
I want to order a simple and cheapest burger which used to be 100 yen (it's 120 yen now)
but, I don't want clerks to think I'm stingy so I order a cheese burger, which is
30yen higher than the cheapest burger instead.
(I know, I'm already stingy at the moment I use a free coffee coupon...)

please tell me native speakers (or experienced engilsh learner).

''I was surprised by the way she played, you can tell she is very experienced,''
Witthoeft said. ''I did not think she would be able to play so well, because she is so old.''

this sentences are post match interview at wimbledon tennis and she is evaluating the opponent (winner: japanese veteran kimiko date krumm).
please note the second second line's phrase "so old".
whether these words imply impolite meaning or not ? and whether these words are appropriate to such a formal situation (official interview) ?
"so old "in this sentences means "beldam" or "skilled person" ?

Ever noticed how there're no 'forever alone' guys, who voluntarily take this place in life?
As in, you know, standard harem plot, your usual japanese high-schooler loser - you know, jack of all trades, master of none.
Plot thickens, etc., etc., his relationship with girls surrounding him deepens, however, instead of choosing one of the girls/choosing all
of the girls/making a standard non-choice, he deliberately pushes everyone from him, because he values the freedom that his solitude gives him.
Freedom from relationships, freedom from obligations, freedom from the world. You know, there is a saying by a famous author from my homeland (Ukraine, actually),
Grigoriy Skovoroda, and it goes like this - "The world tried to catch me, yet never did". Fits perfectly for a plot like this, doesn't it?
It would be rather interesting to observe such development from purely artistical point of view, I think.

Continuing my musing upon previous topic, I noted that a lot of socially unfriendly aesops seem to be either neglected,or used to paint character as a villain.
For example, your usual moral dillemma - "friend's life or something that you strived for a long time". I can recall precisely
zero examples, where hero abandons his friend in favor of said something, and doesn't get the short stick of villain portrayal.
P.S Being a boring media-nerd 24 hours a day sure is fun.

Most of oyaji gags are made up of homonyms.
If you let me, I'll explain to you what they are like.
When I was a kid, there was a popular duo named Anonenone appearing on TV.
They had a hit song titled Akatonbo ( the Japanese word for red dragonfly)
Their another song's lyrics are a typical example of oyaji gag

魚屋のおっさんが屁をこいた ブリっ!
The English translation is as follows; A fish dealer farted. Buri!
In this case, Buri has two meanings in Japanese. The sound of fart and the name of a fish.

Usual Japanese people including me don't know much about Sweden as well.
As it's far away from Japan, the images of Sweden in Japan are sometimes unrealistic.

Some people have very good image of Sweden, for example it's a very rich and peaceful country
where people don't have to work hard like Japan, and everyone can receive good benefit
while the government maintains healthy budget.

But there are people whose images of Sweden are bad, for example it's promoting extreme individualism,
and people are suffering from divided family and racial conflicts which are resulted from immigration policy.

Well, let me check what I just wrote according to what I have kept doing. Bracketing.
-----------------------------1949 was the year [ when I was born ]. Yet I don't remember [ how I was born ].
But I have a [ startling ] memory [ that I came out of a truly narrow place ].
[ After I had a memory ], I heard from my father [ that it took so long a time { till I came out of mother's body } ].
My father told me [ that I took such a long time { to go through the tunnel-like thing of my mother's body } ].
[ When my head came out of my mother's body ], the head was so long [ that my father startled ].
It's katawa, a retarded person. But in one day, my head came back to normal roundness.
---------------good. it is good rechecking.

Japanese should hate Korean more and more.
The hate isn't going to cause the war between Japan and Korea because Japanese are peaceful people.
776名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/07/19(金) 10:51:52.65
I also hate Koreans, so I don't mean to talk back to you but I think what is important to us most now
is not such an emotion but a strategy.
Koreans are eagerly engaged in lobbying activity in the U.S. about comfort woman issue.
It's their strategy aimed at the international community taking sides with them.
So we should be more aware that we are at war with them now.
Information wars are invisible so that we tend to make light of them.
777名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/07/19(金) 11:20:43.79
No wonder Japan is under the invisible war.
Japanese should notice the era of peace ended.
Japanese way of thinking, like "Lying is bad"or "History is a filed of science." are to meet humanity and morality.
If Japan were to be defeated, it would mean "Lying is good. History is not learning but fiction."
That is why Korean are the enemy of mankind.
778名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/07/19(金) 11:46:21.74
That's for sure.
The day Korean and Japanese get along doesn't come definetely forever and ever.
We Japanese shoule be alway aware that there is conflict at all time when it comes to some kind of talking
with Chine and Korean.
One of their traits is attacking Japan.
What a pain in the ass....
779名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/07/19(金) 13:14:31.48
Exactly.
The more they do anti-Japanese activities, the more they lose the ablility of logical thinking and human dignity.
They will end up being excluded from mankind.
When it happens, we will not need to apply human rights to them.

shouldn't insist their human rights.
782名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/07/19(金) 16:44:20.25
By the way, why are high school baseball tournaments held in hot summers?
I think it is because commercial people standing at top on the baseball tournaments
never consider high school students human rights.
They only thinks their benefits from the tournaments.

So, it is one example, people who only thinks their rights shouldn't talk about human rights!

1998(H10) 76
-------------------------------------------------------

World is not peace yet.
Those who take thier eyes away from the fact are very irresponsible.
Love and Peace are not free of charge.
The world should begin to take Korean risk seriously.
They are an enemy against the world peace.
However, Japan has no intention of making war against Korea.
Japanese are the most peaceful people on the earth, so we will fight verbally.

This thread is in Japna.
Japan is under war without wepons.

・司会の後ろの目立つ場所に韓国旗設置
・選手宣誓がテコンドー選手
・五輪の旗持ちに韓国人(国連会長)

Smartphones are revolutionary. They have changed my life drastically,
just like they have changed the lives of others. But some people seem
to be concerned about the possible adverse effects of Smartphones on
the lives of people. They say that there are some people who are
easily addicted to the Internet.

I don't think Smartphones are that harmful. I think that, if Smartphones
affect some people's lives adversely, their lives would have been
adversely affected anyway even if there were no Smartphones in the world.

When TV arrived in society several decades ago, people feared that
TV would make the whole population of Japan idiotic, saying
"一億蒼白痴化".

However, I dare say that people leading their lives in an organized way
with a firm sense of purpose can take advantage of Smartphones and
similar gadgets in ways favorable to their lives.

I myself use Smartphones not for the purpose of killing my time,
playing Internet games, reading comics, or things like that.
I use Smartphones to consult dictionaries (Japanese-language and English-
language ones), encyclopedias, watch educational videos on YouTube,
and many other things to educate myself instead of fooling around.

To me, the Smartphone is a goddess who has come to this world to
educate me.

We Japanese shoudn't think that it's best to get along with Korea, because that country
alway do nothing but complain with Japan, I mean , it doesn't stand up in the basis of fundamental communication.

In conclusion, the best way to cope with Korea is to keep good distance with, and

I guess you're right. When I was younger, I used to think that
Western men take better care of women than Japanese men do.
I don't any longer. On the contrary, I have now realized that
it's Japanese men who take much better care of women than
their Western counterparts do.

Japanese men let their wives
manage their mutual economics. They give the whole of their wages
to their wives and, when they need pocket money for themselves,
say, money for their cigarettes, lunches, and expenses for
going drinking with their colleagues, they ask their wives
for some money. Western men, on the other hand, keep all their
monthly salary to themselves and gives a little money every day
to their wives to manage the household even if the wives are
dedicated housewives who don't have jobs outside.
920名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/08/08(木) 21:30:14.46
That's correct.

Japan is a very female domination country.
The equality of the sexes can't be judgede only by the numbers.
The proportion of women in managerial posts is not important at all.

Why a circumcision? For religious purposes or to cure your phimosis?
If it is for religious purposes, then it should be great to
get a circumcision and join your religious community as a full-fledged
member. If you want to cure your phimosis to become able to have sex
without difficulty, then that should be great too.

I myself have never got a circumcision, but one of my friends have got one.
He says something along these lines: The operation doesn't hurt at all,
because you get anesthetized in advance. He enjoyed a great sex life
afterwards. In any case, if you have complete phimosis, you have no choice
but to get a surgical operation if you want to have sex.

John Locke a hypocrite!?

[Quote]
Constitution of Carolina
Appraisals of Locke have often been tied to appraisals of liberalism
in general, and also to appraisals of the United States. Detractors
note that (in 1671) he was a major investor in the English slave-
trade through the Royal African Company, as well as through his
participation in drafting the Fundamental Constitutions of Carolina
while Shaftesbury's secretary, which established a feudal aristocracy
and gave a master absolute power over his slaves. For example, Martin
Cohen notes that as a secretary to the Council of Trade and
Plantations (1673–4) and a member of the Board of Trade (1696–1700)
Locke was, in fact, "one of just half a dozen men who created and
supervised both the colonies and their iniquitous systems of
servitude".[24] Some see his statements on unenclosed property
as having been intended to justify the displacement of the Native
Americans.[25][26] Because of his opposition to aristocracy and
slavery in his major writings, he is accused of hypocrisy and
racism, or of caring only for the liberty of English capitalists.[27]

It's for sanitary purposes, not religious purposes. In japan, basically people don't get circumcision because basically we are not Christian, muslim nor Jews.
BUT some people get it for self satisfaction. For example, uncut cock looks childish and dirty I mean not hygienic you know?

I have no problems with sex but I seriously want to get it done!
I know this sounds so stupid!
928名無しさん@英語勉強中:2013/08/09(金) 16:53:49.32
>>927
Oh, I see. So you don't have any problems with your sex life and yet
you want to get a circumcision because you believe it'll get you more
sanitary, huh? But, you know, you can always keep your penis and testicles
hygienic by washing them when taking a bath. You just peel off the penis skin
and wash away all the dirt and scum with soap and water, scrubbing them
with a towel. I myself have always been doing so every single day
during bath time ever since I was, say, 20 or so.

As for how uncut dicks look, well, I don't know. I don't think they
look childish at all. But it's all up to you. If you think
uncut dicks look childish and dirty, then I suggest you get a circumcision.
The operation shouldn't cost that much.
