Hey!!! All you NEETs, nerds, YouTube link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis, Yukorin enthusiasts, Nanako SOS admirers, Part-Time-Preachers, Diplomats' spoiled sons, losers who can't remember Kanji characters, Big-boobs fans, Weeaboo from around the world, learners of Japanese who are too lazy to update their Japanese blogs very often, cunning linguists, stupid fan girls of Johnny's Boys, Touhou pirates, and that electrical super-gay who suffers from mental disease - This is your thread! Let's hope Igirisu-jin and the Internet-addicted housewife will come back soon!
This is the place to have a blast!!!!! Let's continue to support recovery efforts in Japan!!!!!

>My dear Japanese, one key fact was left out of the exhibit: >The U.S. military estimated it would cost 1 million American lives to invade the Japanese home islands. >It was largely due to this reason that Truman decided to use the Atomic bombs on Japan >and attempt to force Japan to surrender before an invasion became necessary.
It's an ordinary excuse Americans often make in order to justify what they did. In fact, back then they didn't regard us as hummans equivalent to them, so atomic bombimg was the experiment to make sure how much atomic bombs are powerful by using an animal called yellow monkey.
It's an ordinary excuse Americans often make in order to justify what they did. In fact, back then they didn't regard us as humans equivalent to them, so the atomic bombing was an experiment by using an animal called yellow monkey to make sure how much powerful atomic bombs are.
>>21 I don't think what you wrote is true, but that dropping the atomic bombs was for avoiding the increase of number of people killed due to wars in the mainland bet- ween Japanese soldiers and civilians, and American troops, like in Okinawa island.
>>22 What I wrote is absolutely true. I dont think your argument makes sense at all. If they did for such a reason, the atomic bombing on Nagasaki, which took place only three days after Hiroshima, was defenitely unnecessary for that.
Three consecutive holidays in Japan. Bur for me, it's one of those ordinary days. 23th was Labor thanksgiving day and for NEETS it's very hurting holiday.
Very sorry about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Since childhood, I felt it was the lowest point of humanity, that and the genocides. I didn't know more was yet to come. I think this world would be a better place if Kamenashi Kazuya was made the world president.Men would spend time grooming, dancing, cooking and playing baseball. Instead of killing others. It would be a peaceful planet.
I do not like the winter because it's so cold outside that I must wear so many layers of clothing. Yet, they turn on the air-con too much inside the buildings.
It takes so much an effort to take on and off my clothes every time I go in and out of a building.
you can go out, being naked if you like . not hard to try . imagine all the ppl have no clothes . this world could be changed into the world that doesn't exist any war .
>>62 Knock yourself out if you can stand the cold...
I personally believe that the World can only be rid of any war when it is free of selfish scums. But it is proven that there will always be some out of the population who slack out at a certain ratio.
Thus, there will never be such a thing as the world peace. But still. It would be nice if it can be reached.
>>65 Wow! Thanks for the links. I'm especially impressed with the wearable blanket. It looks really warm. I think I'll check it later on a e-commerce site. As for the rest of two, I have similar gloves and fluffy shoes. These items help you cut down on energy costs and are eco-friendly, too.
>>71 They're both good. >>70 would be better if you used 'not' instead of 'never'. We usually say 'never' to mean that we have not done something at all. But here you have taken a bath before, just not for two years.
>>71 is almost perfect, but you don't need to say 'these'.
Probably the most natural way to say it would be: "I haven't taken a bath for two years, but I take a shower every day."
I went to an all-you-can-eat Indian place today and perhaps I ate a little too much that the burning sensation now my bottom is going through is... Well, quite a sensation.
>>75 For a few days my testicle has been getting more swollen and painful, I'm afraid to go to a doctor but it is almost unbearable, I'm afraid if it is dangerous
Speaking of marathon, I used to live close to Nagai Park, the venue where Osaka International Women's Marathon is held. At that time, I made it a habit to jog around the athletic track field every day. After jogging, I felt refreshed. In the beginning, it's very tough for you to run a long distance but you gradually get used to it. And at last you'll be addicted to it because of runner's high.
>>94 I live near a river. Many years ago there was this jogger who even run on rainy days with an umbrella. I thought he's literally addicted to it because of runner's high or something. It's rediculous to jog on rainy days with an umbrella and looked very strange to my teenage eyes. He was an avid runner and saw him running along the river for many years. He was a middle aged man back then but judging from his pretty beautiful running form and the speed, he must have been a runner during his school days.
I don't see him running anymore. He must be in his late 60's or even 70's and I now became a middle aged man. I wonder what he is doing now. Maybe he's doing brisk waking around his house? As a very eager runner, quitting his daily routine must have been heart wrenching to him. Sad to get old. I need to search for the fountain of youth...
>>109 According to Wikipedia, that song is indeed performed by Yonagahime 3+1. The lyrics are by Haka Ati and music by NARASAKI. http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/UN-GO
Korena said the origins of humanity are in Korea and that westerners don't have the history that they are able to be proud of because they know the truth.
sounds ridiculous . what only they have as thier originally traditional history are chi chi dashichogori and tonsuru . thats all about i have to say this topics.
>>111 Thank you so much! I will add Narasaki to my favourite composers. >>112 Psycho Pass, Steins Gate, Un-Go, trying to find Vexille episodes. I want something similar to Texhnolyze. Also watched Kuroshitsuji, how interesting to see England from the Japanese point of view. I love Maiden Rose too, but there aren't many episodes, are there?
>>115 Sorry, I have not watched Kuroshitsuji and Maiden Rose yet. I like "Emma", whose stage is England. I have not watched it's anime because I read the manga first.
Kuroshitsuji has a dark and depressing theme set in England. Maiden Rose (百日の薔薇) is about a power play sort of love affair between a German agent and a Japanese military official. It is romantic but very explicit Yaoi. It may not be your cup of tea. I was really put off by the Emma character so never read it.
It's because they recognize you as a bad person. I'm a dog person, so whenever they meet me,they greet me with their tails wagging. As for cats, I'm not a feline devotee but sometimes feed stra stray cats in the neiborhood.
I like a song titled " I want to be a cat" by Spitz.
Don't let it bother you! Most of the people who post here are Japanese. I also make use of this thread for practice in writing English. The more you write something in English here, the better your English skills become.
Indeed I'd like to improve my English skill. I love tigers baseball team too. I would had been cut my hair soon. Its my own taxs rule. Its principle my own body.
>>162 So this is why. My parents were born in Okinawa. My grandmother lives there.
I'm sorry, I don't understand your English sentence "I have also stroke a US army man today." I translated it on a web site, and then it said "今日、また、私は脳卒中にかかっています男性。" ake care of yourself. I am poor at English.
I have a question to native English speakers about the word "post."
There are music videos of "Imagine" by Beatles on Youtube. And let's say one of it's URLs on Youtube is *******. And let's say I tweeted on my Twitter account that "Hey, this is a music video of "Imagine" by Beatles" followed by the URL ***** in the same tweet.
In this case, is it all right to say "I posted an old song called "Imagine" ? "Post" to me sounds like I myself uploaded it. But in this case, all I did was put the link to the video in the tweet. Is this way of using "post" all right or confusing in this context? Any response is appreciated. Thank you.
>>167 To me, it makes sense, but it is slightly vague to say "I posted an old song called Imagine" because where you posted it to is left out.
It is not confusing at all though, and it is not common for 'posted' to imply you uploaded the video, as the word 'uploaded' is used more commonly. So in that case, it is fine to use "I posted an old song called "Imagine", it is easy to understand.
>>173 Your definition wasn't entirely wrong. Post (on the internet) can mean a few things, like making a post here or on twitter .etc it can also mean to post a video or a file, such as to youtube, but it isn't as common.
This may sound weird question but... Let's say you read a message somewhere that reads "I posted an old song 'Imagine' yesterday so that everyone can watch." what is your take on the message? Do you think he put a link to "Imagine" yesterday or he uploaded it's music video to a video-sharing site such as YouTube yesterday?
>>176 Not a weird question at all. I would read that equally both ways, there isn't much of a line between meanings in that case, so I would read it 50/50 without any context.
>>177 Thank you very much! I learned a lot from your responses. You helped me a lot. To understand meanings of even a single word deeper isn't an easy task for English learners.
Japanese men. Please stop being too cute. I am turning into a hentai. Ok? I went to a cafe and this cutest than anything of a Japanese little guy sat opposite me and I just couldn't take my eyes off his gorgeous eyes and sunshine like smile. Stop killing us with your weapon of extreme cuteness.
Due to a recent modification to the server configuration of 2ch, pretty much all IPs from oversea domains are banned although some still seem to be able to go through. If you get a message saying you got banned, that's because of that change.
>>179 Thank you. Any opinion from native English speakers are valuable because English learners like me sometimes don't understand subtle nuances of words and expressions perfectly.
>>183 Ooops.. I was wrong. You're right about the song. And thank you for explaining the way the word is used. I got the picture!
This is a great board for us foreigners to chat with Japanese people. Yesterday I was thinking, "I hope they don't do something like mixi and ban us foreigners." So they are moving in that direction.
>>187 Does mixi ban non-Jpanaese or deny access from overseas? That's new to me. Igirisu-jin has Mixi account, actually. If Mixi hasn't changed its policy, then people from overseas can use it as far as I know.
>>188 Are? means アレ? meaning oh? If so I'm impressed with your appropriate usage of アレ?
I should do better than that. I have Japanese friends and colleagues and speak elementary Japanese. Igirisu-jin-san might have a Japanese mobile, that is what you need to sign up with mixi. I don't need to use mixi. I have this BB full of people who are funny and entertaining and kind enough to translate Kame articles every once in a while.
>>190 Ahh, I undestand what you mean now. Resistering mobile phone number wasn't required before. Igirisu-jin signed up before they require mobile phone number. Actually I have two accounts on Mixi that I got before they required registration of telephone number.
Don't they accept mobile phone number of UK on Mixi? You seem to like underground communication style. You can openly say you are a member of Mixi, but not many people say openly they do 2chan. I myself never openly say that. If I'm asked whether I'm a 2chan user, I'd say, "well, sometimes, but I only read interesting threads once in a while, I'm just lurking. I don't post there." For some people, 2channelers are considered bad. So I walk on the safe side.
The most industrious rake in the world can make the strongest fort in Sapporo. It looks like it sows seeds in winter morning and roars in the distance in summer afternoon. When I hear it, I always lick a stamp and a tree stump. Both of them are now in a dump and at the same time I got a hoax call from my cousin. Almost like...they are different from me.
I like Sapporo brew the best with unagi don. Also the corn soup from Hokkaido. Miso from Hokkaido. They taste the best. Also the fiery but sensitive Ikuta Toma.
Yes I like the anonymous style communication. I am pondering about the right to anonymity in this day and age when companies are pushing us to put all our data online. This craving for power on all humans is very scary.
The definition of hentai differs from people to people and ages.
If you're a high school student and tell girls in your class that you like licking girls' anus, then all the girls never talk to you anymore. But if the girls become 30's, they are already sexually active and chances are they even beg to be licked. Where those girls who called you hental all gone? The girls back then has become hentai! but they never admit they became hentai. That's the transformation from a girl to hentai woman.
Maybe hentai is just the wrong definition. Maybe a conservative society tries to moderate reproductive behaviour in this manner. the question should be : who participates in this behaviour with who. Those who are not qualified end up being labelled hentai . Those who are will reproduce. Something like that.
Japan is considered to be a Hentai country by some foreigners.
I have to admit it's partly true but I warn you guys it's only a small portion of population. When I saw this product called "smell of a yuong boy's anus," which is sold in a bottle like a perfume, my joe dropped. I was ashamed being a Japanese when I saw this product. The sister product, if I remember correctly, is "smell of high school girl's armpit," which is also sold in a bottle in fluid form. Oh boy... I understand this girls's armpit smell is sold, but the smell of young boy's anus? Come oooonnnn. This seems like a product for "Shotakon" which means a man who loves young boys...
I wonder you-know-who would buy "Smell of Kamenashi's anus" if it was sold. I think Kamenashi fan girls would jump to the bottled liquid, but Johnny would never allow it to be commercialized. Come to think of it, he's the one who are eager to buy "smell of a young boy's anus." lol maybe he already bought it.
Whoa, whoa, whoa! May I say something? You guys post tooooo long sentences. 2ch doesn't allow you to post more than 3 lines, or I'll smell your fuckin' anus right!?
>>202 You saw the products and I didn't. I admit myself as a hentai and you don't.
Where on the earth did you see the products at? A hentai shop? All right, all right. You and I are different kinds of hentai, I bet...still you don't admit you are a hentai.
There is nothing glorifying about deviation from the "norm". What you call hentai is normal behaviour in the animal world. Since humans are animals, I don't see why all this "chemical communication" is perversion. However I think the reason you want to associate my idol with that kind of lifestyle is because you want it to be acceptable.
>>211 I appreciate your kindness but you see I am a totally KY gaijin who spent most of her life in low context cultures. I am alien to your culture but somehow I really feel close emotionally in a lot of ways. I doubt I would ever be "Japanese inside", though an emotional attachment may bring me very close. (What am I saying? thanking for being called a hentai)
>>208 I saw a link to the original Japanese version blog entry. This hentai product is shocking to us Japanese so it became viral. That's why I got to know it and I admit I'm hentai, too, although I'm never interested in the smell of boy's anus.
Hey, 4channelers you are doing the same thing as 2channelers do. You guys are trying to make Kim Jong Un to be the Time magazine 2012 person of the year. So far, your operation works well.
Oh ho! The Korean nationalist was subjected only 310,000yen!? What a easy game. I can't believe FIFA wasted their time extremely for such a weak decision.
My mom got a card from an American couple, the above sentense was there in the card. Does it mean they wanted to see my mom in America or they wanted to see my mom in Japan? What I don't understand is whether they mean they wanted to come to Japan to see my mom or whether they wanted my mom to visit America to see them.
>>226 It feels like they want to meet your mum somehow, the sentence is a bit broken and it is hard to tell. It feels more like they want to come to Japan though.
I can't believe you guys are still stuck on the same topic all this time. Can you not think of anything better to discuss? Like, Yomiuri Giants won the championship in which league in November? I watched Going! but there was no translation. http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNDcxMDA1NzUy.html
>>235 I guess if you don't want to answer, you won't answer. >>236 True, but at this moment I truly want to know what they won and when. I looked up their site. That episode Going! looked very exciting. WHat is Nihonshiri!!!
I am not Japanese, so I am direct. I have a vague feeling of how to make indirect communication but at this instance I really wanted to know exactly what I asked for. Yes yes Kamenashi is gorgeous but what did the Giants win?
What do you mean by "Nihonshiri"? 日本シリーズ(Nihonshiri-zu) is the battle to decide which team is the strongest in Japan. The Japanese pro baseball has two leagues, the Pacific League and the Central League. This year, the Nippon Ham Fighters won the championship in the Pacific League and the Yomiuri Giants, the Central League. And after that, in November, defeating the Nippon Ham Figters 4-2, the Yomiuri Giants captured the Japan series crown in three years. That video shows various scenes in the middle of the battle.
Sorry for my poor English and I don't know whether the word "battle" is suitable for baseball games.
>>244 explained well and I'll add my explanation to his/hers. Google "2012 Japan Series" then you'll find its Wikipedia entry in English. I won't go into detail here because all you want to know is about Kamenashi, not Japanese pro baseball. The two baseball players interviewed by Kamenashi are both pitchers of Yomiuri Giants. The interview was done after Champaigne fight (although beer is usually used, anyway) where Giants players celebrated winning the Japan Series.
(cont.) There is a video footage where Kame runs with players and doing weight exercises. The footage was filmed in January 2012 in Guam before 2012 baseball season started. January in Japan is still cold so these players went to Guam for training to prepare for the 2012 season. Maybe Kame went to Guam in January to see and report how the Giants players train themselves to prepare for the 2012 baseball season.
>>243 Usotski. >>244 Thank you for understanding and answering my question properly. I now understand the different leagues. I felt bad for Nippon Ham. The battle was totally amazing, full of tension. >>246 thank you for the uncomplement. That is so discouraging. >>249 I knew Sawamura who trained Kame on the pull-up weights machine in Guam. I recognised him instantly so I guessed who they were. Yeas I watched the Guam episode but you are wrong. I really wanted to know what league it was. The match was too intense.
>>253 In fact, I'm a fan of your English. Keep in mind that I love your beautiful English even if people call me hentai. As a English learner, I highly value your natural flexible excellent sense of English.
Westerners are idiot. They are at the top of the marine ecosystem. Whales aren't threatened with extinction now. Eating whales is to increase fish. Whales are delicious. None of your business.
I meant "liar" in Japanese but you don't get Japanglish although I get your Engrish. Different scale of perception I guess. >>254 I don't need people to tell me about my level of English. I just use the language. They take it too seriously, I don't.
>>256 Some species of whale are threatened with extinction. But as long as the Japanese are only hunting the ones that are plentiful, like minke whales, I don't see any problem with whaling.
I'm Australian, by the way. On 2ch people seem to think all Australians are very upset about Japanese whaling, but in reality we mostly don't care.
We are all born into different languages and try to learn others. The learning process is different for everyone, access to information, opportunity to practise and so on. In addition, we have different learning approaches. So when someone makes fun of your mistakes, just see them below human because, they do not understand this whole complex learning process. They are the ididots, you are not.
You should not glorify other person's ability to speak a perfect second language. You should not put down the person who makes mistakes either. Language use glorification should be left to the naitonalists of that language. Using a language for your own development and progress is a success in itself.
>>289 I am young, but this is how I feel. Sometimes I feel lonely too.. But I accept it, I don't strive for a relationship. Friends joke that I am homo ww Getting past the social expectation of having a family or looking for love are tough. But again, I am young and maybe I just haven't found the right person.. How do people do it with a job? I have no time for nagging anyway lol
>>290 I agree with you. To tell the truth, I feel it troublesome to have relationship with someone. As to a job, when I am working in the office I have to talk to disagreeable fellow as well. But I hope you don't have such an experience and find a good job.
She is Korean? Tell her that Takeshima is a Japanese island, won't you. If she should say no, she would be a person who cannot tell fact from fiction. That means that you like a girl, who cannot tell fact from fiction.
I want to go with a gril who can tell fact from fiction. All strifes are caused by the lack of the knowledge of truth and story. I have a very logical mind. Regrettably, I am not a good English speaker. However, it is not relevant to my logicality.
So this personality doesn't make me get a girlfriend. You have a girlfriend. I envy you.
>>306 I'm Japanese, but I don't care about arguments about whales. They rarely show up on the market and even if I have a chance to eat 'em, their taste a little oily and doesn't so good. Not bad though...I don't wanna eat whales, I prefer fried octopus and drinking like a whale.
It is much smaller problem to look strange than an earthquake. The actual problem of wearing a diving suit in a bath is that you cannot wash your body.
I noticed another fact. Wearing a diving suit, he can not warm himself. Right? So, I would like to suggest the following measures.
1. Prepare bath robes near to bath room. Or 2. Move from Japan to the country where earthquakes seldom occur, for example Canada,Australia,Malaysia and so on.
While wearing a diving suit in a bath, don't you feel hot at all? Is it so effective in insulating from the outside? What I thought was that as it is just made of rubber, it transmits heat to the inside.
By the way, if you want to wash the diving suit, it might be a good idea to take a bath with the suit. I think someone go into a bath with their underwear or clothes because it takes almost no time or trouble to wash those in the bath wearing them.
>>328 Don't be so nervous. The whole energy of M9 earthquakes is about 1,000 times larger than one of M7. Such a big one merely happens. ...but I won't garantee it won't.
>>332 A man who asked a girl student where is a station was reported to a police, just in case. A man who asked a girl student "Excuse me ?" was reported to a police, just in case. A man who kindly told a girl student "I can see your panty(Take care of your exposing panty)" was reported to a police, just in case. A man who was just walking behind a girl student was reported to a police, just in case.
We have to expel barbarians such as Koreans, Chinese and Iranian drug dealers from our country. Only those who have pure minds are qualified to live here.
I'm reading an award-winning book "when you reach me" and in the children's book, I found "as dumb as a bag of hair" twice. I think in a nutshell, it means "dumb" but I was like, "Why a bag of hair"?
Would anyone tell me why a bag of hair is dumb or what this bag is about? Do you use this expression daily?
>>353 Thank you for your post. The children novel was the winner of " Newbery Medal" in 2010. But the setting was late 1970's in New York. Maybe it was a popular expression at that time there, maybe not. 12 year old girl said it. Maybe she was trying sounding humorous, althuogh I'm not sure. I happened to see this book in a library shelf and it says it won the award on the conver, so I thought "Why not, it must be easy and interesting!"
But Even though it was for children, it's not very easy for an English learner like me. Anyway, 14 days is a limit to hand it back to the library. I'm trying to read about 10 pages a day to make it on the deadline. No one is on the waiting list, so I can extend 14 days more if I can't finished reading it in the first 14 days. I'm on page 70 now. Thanks!
The activity of ShineShineDan begins from this time every year. They start to let cuples know that Chiristmas is off. Their activity will last until Feb. 14 with the momentum.
>>379 I am sure there must be a market for un-christmas activities in Europe. After all there are more atheists in the UK and Northern EU than anywhere else in the world.
I write one Chirstmas card to an American couple every year. But I'm thinking about quitting writing to them this year. It's been more than 20 years but they have kids and many things to write about but I have nothing special to write about so I feel miserable.
And they visited my prefecture and they said that on Cristmas card but I didn' contact them. So, we didn't see each other that year. This explains we are not friends.
They didn't send me a Christmas card one year but I sent one to them that year, so next year I didn't send one to them but they sent one that year. I again didn't sent one the next year, but they sent me one that year. Since then, we send each other Christmas cards but I think it's mere facade relation.
A colleague told me the same thing. Myself. I get knocked out after a 12-14 hr day. I sometimes wake up between cycles of sleep. I wonder if that is proper sleep.
>>381>>382 Please make connections with other people so that you don't feel alone. You need to make an effort. It is your duty to yourself to connect to other people.
>>398 Of course it is your choice. You can enjoy the pleasures of extreme self-pity and live alone forever; or you can take control and be important to someone. It is all up to you. btw I loathe people who complain and do nothing.
You know, most people in general hate the rich. Why? It's because they actually want to become rich, but they know it's almost impossibe for them. In short, it's derived from jealousy. Those who complain and do nothing are, in a sense, honest to their own feelings. And there is a possiblity that you are jealous of their lifestyle at the bottom your heart.
>>417 Most people here post anonymously. If you leave the name field blank, your post gets a default name. 名無しさん@英語勉強中 is the default name on the English board.
Incidentally, you can leave the email field blank as well if you like. Or you can type 'sage' in there, which keeps your post from bumping the thread.
There are a few gaijin around here, including myself. Anyone is welcome to join the English chat.
This works differently than any other board I've ever used. And I am (sadly) unable to read the guide which is in Japanese; which I assume explains all this.
I don't have any experience on other anonymous chat boards (such as 4chan) to compare to.
Since there are a few different date formats from a country to another, the year mustn't be shortened so there will be less mix ups. And the months are preferred to be written by its names instead of numbers.
>>440 What makes you want to learn Japanese? If it's not a mandatory subject, the common reason to study it is to read manga in Japanese, understand J-drama, J-pop, hence to know more about the Japanese pop culture in Japanese...
Or you happen to be interested in Japanese literature? Or you think it's cool to understand Japanese...
Originally, I wanted to learn to read manga in Japanese. That interest is not as strong as it was. And now I have more interest in technical websites I've come across, but don't understand.
Understanding manga & anime is something I'd call a bonus - it's not my main interest anymore.
>>444 Yes, I meant to talk to you. Teaching yourself a foregin language isn't easy. It's better to learn basics from someone, ideally university language course.
I've taken courses, at university, but right now I've forgotten most of what I've learned.
I can still say "ano furui renga no tatemono wa nan desu ka?" and believe I'd be understood by Japanese people. Other sentences, I'm not so sure about.
I still remember some grammar and kana and have been reviewing lessons I've found online and re-learning the vocabulary.
I think I know between 5 and 10 kanji right now.
My problem, sort of, is that my skill is somewhere between beginner and intermediate. There are few resources online that are really helpful to me, right now.
>>460 For grammar, Tae Kim's guide is widely regarded as one of the best resources on the Internet: http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar Some of the beginner lessons will cover stuff you already know, so just skim through them.
For kanji, I used 'Remembering the Kanji' by James Heisig, which I found very helpful. If you want to try that, look for the 6th edition of volume 1. You don't need volumes 2 or 3. You should be able to find it in most bookshops. You can download a sample chapter at http://kanji.koohii.com/ The forum on that website is also a very good resource for info about self studying Japanese.
The other option I've heard a lot of people using is called Kanjidamage. You might like to check it out, but I haven't used it so I can't really say much.
Whatever method you use for kanji, I would strongly recommend reviewing them using an SRS. Most people use Anki, which you can download for free at: http://ankisrs.net/
If anyone cares to take a "listen" I'd like to know if it's understandable.
English is not my first language, and I know how horrible foreigners sound when they think they know how to say a phrase or two in my language. That's why I'll be surprised if I'm understood, rather than not.
Why I can't post to some threads? e.g.: in web programming board. I get this error: "not jp". I don't want to use proxy, but I want to reply to that thread T_T
>>473-474 In the past, some people couldn't post on this thread from overseas. They used proxy, if I remember right, to manage to post. If you don't like using proxy, maybe there's nothing you can do, although I don't know much about thechnical side of Internet.
Here in Japan, the american shooting spree in NJ is reported on the news. I don't know in detail about the incident but I somehow feel for the lonely shooter, who killded himself on the spot. I'm not saying killing people randomly is acceptable, but somehow as a lonely man myself, I think I feel less hate toward him than average people.
I want to ntr with your wife. Therefore you may ntr with my wife. However I don't have my wife. Then, you only will ntr with yourwife. What a sad story it will be.
>>478 Well don't make yourself lonely then! Who told you to lock up and not talk to people. OK, maybe you hate people in average but statistically there should be people like you. Find them and form union with them. Don't turn into a lonely psychopath! I am saying, you should think of your well being!
>>478 Your feeling to have familiarity with the culprit is, I think, wrong. Please think of your families being killed by some one. Even in that case, can you have that feeling for him?
>>475 >>476 Thank you. At least now I know I'll probably be understood if I need to talk about old brick buildings. Though, there are none where I live. At least I don't know about any brick building whatsoever.
>>478 >>484 I don't condone senseless killings, but I also don't hate the gunman. This is just a sad story from all angles.
Everytime you open your mouth, you say such a thing, but don't you know almost all of murder cases are committed among family, acquaintances, or lovers? In short, if you connect to people, it's more likely that you commit a crime called murder. The case someone is referring to above is , statistically speaking rare.
I don't like the way national Network such as ABC report the killing of the children at school. The jingle with too much sound effect and such, to sensationalize the tragedy. I'd say they treat the sad incident like a movie or drama. They treat it like a show.
PBS is the best regarding the way of treating the incident maybe because the are public broadcasting not based on commercialism. I live in Japan so my impression is from podcasts of each national network I subscribe to in iTunes.
President Obama said something like this with tears in his eyes, the kids who were killed had had bright futures ahead of them if they were not shot to death. Graduation, marrage, having their own kids, etc.
I'm a dropout, not married, no kids, No wonder I have less simpathy with the killed kids. If I was married and had a few kids, I wouldn't have left such a relentless comment.
What has become of Inada Tomomi? I think she is a Joan of Arc of Japan. There seems to be a lot of candidates who are likely to be manipulated by bureaucrats like puppets. But in any case, they will become better ministers than those of the DPJ.
I never said connecting is a wonderful thing. If you are alone all the time, you are in survival mode all the time. When there is a good harmony with someone, you would feel less tense. You can also feel good when alone but when people depend on you, or you depend on someone, other feelings come into play, it is a different kind of strength.
>>511 I understand what you mean. In my case, though, I feel more stressed out with people around me. That's just my case and I know what you mean.
On a different note, Hiroyuki, the former 2chan administrator's case has just been sent to the public prosecutor's office, regarding posts in 2chan where drug deals are exchanged or something. If I'm not mistaken he isn't supposed to own legal responsibility in 2ch any more now that he's not an administrator any more. But the authority think its him that holds responsibility regarding posts in 2chan? I doubt this will lead to shutdown of 2ch.
Maybe it is to protect Japan from us foreigners. I can understand it very well. For me it would be a great loss not to be able to post here. I learn something new every day from you guys. You are like teachers for me.
>>512 You need your space. Actually I think relationships fail mostly because of that. Lack of personal space! Primitive humans did not live in tiny apartments. They had the whole world to roam any time they wanted. We don't have that luxury any more.
>>506 American want to conceal the story in Iraq. They made Nanking issue in order to balance air raid and two atomic bombs. This is the American justice.
>>518>>512 is talking about a shutdown. I am thinking of the underneath of the underneath, saying that a ban will not be effective, so to protect citizens from foreign influence, the best way is a total shutdown.
>>520 I know. You're reading too much into it, I'd say. Influences from non-Japanese people in 2chan is tiny because of language barriers in the first place. This thread is very rare in that Japanese 2channelers and overseas 2channelers mingle in English language.
>>523 Not everyone uses their brain effectively. Mostly due to conditioning. But people who call others stupid, are simply unaware of their own limited knowledge.
>>530 That must be natural. His areola of nipple is too small. Yama-P also pump up/used to pump up iron to make his mustles bigger. He starred boxing movie which was originally a famouse boxing comic so he had to have a muscular body back then. Korean equivelent idols have bigger mustle so I want Johnny's boys to have more muscular body, although Johnny want them to have boys'body, not men's muscular body.
Dec. 23th is the Tenno Tanjo Bi. Tennno Tanjo Bi is more important than Christmas.
Tenno is not Emperor. Tenno is Tenno. Tenno is a god and at the same time, the top priest of all Shinto priests all over Japan. However, the U.S. made Tenno announce the declaaration as a human. They meddled in others' religion. What an attitude of self-conceited arrogance.
Japanese don't regard Christmas as the day related to Chirst, because we have a Shinto and Buddhism. As for me , Christmas is not worth one yen.
Dear friends- I'm sorry to inform you that this Christmas has been cancelled at the last minute. Just because. Because NONE of the gorgeous girls noticed my inner beauty and creative edge at this point of my life. But WHO cares about Christmas? Christ! God-damn the fucking media hype and commercialism! I'd rather stay home and shout Kumiko-chan.as I jerk-off.
[Caine bursts into a car in a fast food drive-through lane] Caine: I want your motherfuckin' Daytons and your motherfuckin' stereo. And I'll take a double burger with cheese. Car-jack Victim: What? Caine: Motherfucker, order my motherfuckin' food!
Voice of fast food employee: Hi, may I take your order, please? Car-jack Victim: Yeah, uh, let me have a double burger, uh, some fries... Caine: Motherfucker, I said with cheese, nigga!
Car-jack Victim: Shit! (Speaking into microphone) Yo, uh, make that a double burger with cheese. Caine: See, y'all would've made me shoot your stupid ass over nothing. Car-jack Victim: Hey, come on, man, we supposed to be brothers.
>>536 Here in Iceland we still celebrate the mid-winder festival under the old name, jol; pronounced yohl. When christians were converting the european nations, they took this old holiday and retro-fixed Christs birthday on top of it.
We still have a lot of pre-christian mythology attached to our celebrations. Examples: 13 different "santa clauses" - originally trolls and harmful. Our "chirstmas" spans 13 days, though holidays are not much more than in other nations, and our "last day of christmas" is often spent with elf bonfires and fireworks. Apparently we don't burn the elves, just dance with them around fires, or something. I'll probably have to dig up more info about that part of our festival to be sure what it's about - I'm a bit hazy on the details.
Of course, the Europeans that settled America had "forgotten" that the holiday is much older and that tradition is therefore lost if you learn about xmas from America.
This is a winter solstice festival and nothing more.
>>541 Gee. You're from Iceland? Totally Impressed! ---------------------- I have a question. I'm reading an essay written by an American woman. In the essay, she wrote, "my father and his wife....." Doesn this mean "his wife" is not the essay writer's biological mother? Does that imply that her parents devorced now and "his wife" is the woman his dad got married again with? I thought "my father and mother" (or my parents) is normal way of describing one's parents.
>>544 I take it as an implication of the wife not being the writer's mother. It does not neccesarily mean a divorce since the mother can be dead, the mother and father never got married, etc.
O-Dog: You got some money or not? Basehead: Come on, man You kmow I'm a little short. Hook me up, man O-Dog: Nigga, hook you up? Fuck outta here Basehead: Man, I got these cheeseburgers. They some double cheeseburgers

O-Dog: [shoots basehead] Suck on that, you bitch-ass trick [to A-Wax] O-Dog: Anybody want a hamburger? A-Wax: I don't want no motherfucking hamburger O-Dog: I got it from that basehead. Share this quote
Japanese people enjoy Christmas without much knowledge of religous aspects of it. Even Holloween is enjoyed these days with the knowledge that it's just a day for enjoying costumes. We're in general not familiar with Bible itself. When reading English, sometimes we bump into some expressions related to Christianity or Bible without us English learners noticing it. I have just basic knowledge, like, Samaratan? means nice person, Juda betrayor etc.. Would you introduce something Bible/Christianity related words/expressions that are often used in English articles to me?
Another thing I know is something like, when you're hit on your right cheek, give your left.. Thorwing stone means critisizeing or punishing... There seem to be lots of expressions which is familiar with English-speaking people but not unfamiliar with and hard to understand for English learners. I want you to introduce some of famous expressions originated from Bible/Christian customs.
I'm not an expert on Christianity, however I grew up with stories from the bible, so:
Stoning is a pre-christian punishment (Jewish? maybe older) where "everyone" throws stones at the culprit until dead. I think it is (maybe some middle east Muslim countries still do this) or was mostly used against women.
There is a story in the bible where Jesus says something like "he who has never done anything wrong, let him throw the first stone" with the results that no-one throws a stone and the woman (I think) was saved.
There is also an expression, which I'm translating into English, but should be familiar or understandable by English and American people: "There Goliat met his stone."
The reference is a boy from the bible, David, killed a giant, Goliat, with a little stone. It's used where someone or something big is destroyed by something seemingly insignificant.
I don't remember anything else specific at the moment. And yes, there are expressions in English which make no sense at all, without at least knowing the basic story behind if, from the bible.
There is also Moses and the Red Sea, which is frequently made fun of in movies, but I don't remember if there is an expression.
I decided to learn Japanese by reading 中二病でも恋がしたい - the novel. Technical texts - or the stuff I found interesting on the 'net doesn't seem to use complex enough grammar and I don't want to learn a subset. From experience, reading novels is a great way to learn. I learned both English and French that way.
I have to look up about every kanji in a dictionary, and search for grammar articles but it's great fun. I'm currently on the 4th or 5th sentence C:
It of course helps that I know the kana and grammar is often a matter of review, rather than learning for the first time.
>>559 Thank you very much for taking your time and explaining phrases from Bible! The Goliat story is like an ant killed an elephant. Interesting. >>560 Keep up the good work!
>>563 You're welcome. There is also a story of Jesus turning water into wine, when he was (iirc) 12 years old. Since then*, it's been a common theme in movies to turn some liquid into something else, at the first sign of superpowers. I am now recalling a scene where some guy turns coke into pepsi; I don't remember what movie it was. But that's another example of a bible reference that might escape non-christians.
* Or rather, because of that, movies have not been made since year 12 c;
>>561 I can speak Icelandic and English fluently. I read French - I've forgotten so much vocabulary that I'm not sure I can use it for communication, however, when I do speak I do so with a heavy south-french (mediterranian?) accent. My English however, I speak with a heavy Icelandic accent.
I used to be able to read Danish - but I'm afraid I'll have to resort to a dictionary a lot these days if I were to try. I never got very far with German, but took a few classes in school. I still know some basic grammar and the numbers.
And of course what I still retain of Japanese.
I don't know how it is in Japan, but here it's common for people to study two to three foreign languages in school. Most people never get any fluency except in English though.
I just watched the movie 007 skyfall. It was an amazing exiting film however I found myself not being able to understand the English language without Japanese subtitles...I felt myself miserable orz.
It was all vain that I had insisted watching the original language version although my wife always prefer Japanese dubbed version.
Next time we are planning to see the movie Le miserable. I'm not sure its language is whether French or English but I suppose there's no Japanese language version because it is a musical film.
Only sure thing is that I'm going to feel myself miserable again...号泣
Today is not Christmas eve but Tenno Tanjo Bi tsugi no hi sai (天皇誕生日次の日祭.) Tomorrow is not Christmas but Taisho Tenno Sai(大正天皇祭). I am happy that everyday is festival.
I've finished the first page of 中二病 and I have to say that compound sentences are a pain to decipher. I've heard it's the same for Japanese when they encounter complex sentences in English. So: I understand your pain now.
On the positive notes, having the kanji makes dictionary lookups soo much simpler. If you're ever writing Japanese to a foreign student, kanjify everything. Well, unless they tell you not to, but for them/us it does simplify lookups.
It's those long strings of hiragana where I get confused the most. I hope that it gets easier in a hundred pages or so.
As for me, it's more difficult to understand an average English movie than to understand Eiken first grade listening test. Because Eiken has its own pattern while the movies have no patterns. I can't predict what will happen next orz.
>>583 It's a good practice to watch the same movie over and over and over again. I did that with a few disney movies as a kid, but as an adult, I'm afraid I'd get mad trying to do that. And at the time, it didn't matter if I didn't understand parts of the movie.
I take a shower and go to a department chika today. I don't have a real girlfriend, but I have a 2D girlfriend and I will buy chicken, cakes and champagne for two. I bought two bentos at a Hot Motto also last night. However she didin't eat it, so I ate it instead this morning. I wish she could eat it.
>>592 You are lacking in imaginative power, so she didn't eat it. As long as you can tell "real" from 2D, she will never eat anything you buy. In short, it all depends on you.
>>568 I understand how you feel. I find it hard to understand just by listening to English, too when watching a movie. The subtiles is by Natsuko Toda, who has bad reputations regarding her skills. In Skyfall, she mistaken ma'am for mom, so she subbed, "ママ," which is totally wrong. It should have been ご婦人、お嬢さん、or奥様 etc.
>>565 Thank you very much for another Bible realted story. Yes, without the knowledge beforhand, non-Christian living in Japan like me wouldn't understand that the liquid story originates in Jusus's super power.
>>605 TCP/IP over carrier pigeons. There is even a protocol document.
>>598 There are also Japanese folktales that I'm not familiar with. I came across 金太郎 * first in うる星やつら ** and of course had no idea why they would assume the kid was named that nor what he's famous for. Then it turned out [who they thought was] 金太郎 wasn't a kid, I think, but that's a different story.
* Kintaro ** Urusei Yatsura.
>>597 There are many cases of bad subtitles/translations here in Iceland. There was once a case of [I have forgotten the movie] where the secret service is blocking an elevator and saying "this car is busy" where the "car" refers to the box inside the elevator that moves up and down. It was subtitled as vehicle (I think the Japanese term is 車). The people were inside a building, there was no vehicle in sight.
My father also remembers a translation that was soooo wrong even he got it (he does not really know any english) : in a western, everyone in town hid because the speed-sketch-artist was coming. A bad case of a dictionary translation of "quick drawer," someone who is fast at pulling the gun.
>>599 Hmm... I'm not sure... I just read people are talking about her subtitle mistake in the movie on Twitter. They were saying, "She made a mistake again!"
>>608 haha. Yeah, whether it's related to bible or not, you can understand better animes and movies if you have background knowledge. I watched Urusei Yatsura when I was a kid. The way ラム-chan talk is never standard Japanese, adding だっちゃ at the end of sentenses so be careful. :) Although in Yamaguchi dialect, they talk sort of that way, as far as I know.
The latter example of the wrong subtitle is hilarious.
I went to a nearby convenient store a few hours ago and men at the cash registers were wearing a Santa hat and reindeer cap. It's said that pizza delivery men are also wearing Santa hat, too. Oh my. I don't like the commercializm here in Japan. Enough is enough.
I wish everyone on this board happy holidays, whatever your religion or reason to celebrate. Now, finally, days have begun to get longer here in the far north.
For English students, impress or flabbergast your teacher by using the word "defenestrate" in class. I leave it up to you to look it up in a dictionary.
defenestrate: verb. defenestration: noun.
>>632 I'm afraid I don't know what you're on about, but that's hardly relevant, is it? c;
I will buy 10 boxes of the chocolates in the early March, 2013. The salesclerk will probably think that I am a motemote man. I will keep the ten boxes without throwing away. They are used on the burnable garbage day after February 14, 2014. My neighbors will probable think that I am a motemote man. I am already looking forward to being so.
Compared to Japanese, English has a lot of verbs and so they are the most important part of speech for us English learners. I've learned from a grammar book that Japanese adjectives are declinable, which makes them substitute for verbs. In addition, to my surprise, the indeclinable parts of speech also can sustistute for them. As a result, Japanese has not enough vocabulary of verbs compared to English. For this reason, we have to spend many words like "窓から投げ出す”as mentioned above for the one English word "defenestrate".
Did I make myself understood? Sorry for my poor English!
>>633 myrkraverk さん、面白い単語教えてくれてありがとう! You are my English techer.
>>635 Yes, English has a lot of words, verbs included. And at some point in your studies, English will become a study of vocabulary. They don't really have the grammar and flexibility to, for example, string nouns together to make up a new term. Instead they borrow from other languages. An example is "poltergeist" which, borrowed from German is made up from two words "polter" which means rumble and "geist" for ghost.
The Japanese do this too, though it might have originated in Chinese for all I know, when they string kanji together to make a new word/term. An example I found interesting is 邪気眼系 from the first page of 中二病. I did not look up the Japanese term for poltergeist.
Unlike Japanese, and to some extent Icelandic, English has a very rigid word order. This is due to a very inflexible grammar which I believe comes from having all those loan-words in the language.
>>635 > Did I make myself understood? Sorry for my poor English! Yes, I understand you well. [ Here I was tempted to say "I understand you fine" but that somehow sounds discordant to me; hence most likely wrong grammatically, even though it's used often enough. ]
くれて = 呉れて ? It is so much easier for me to be sure, when everything is written in kanji - though, I also need to understand Japanese as it's written as usual.
On another note, I'm now reading the steampunk book Heartless with words such as "contrivance," "perspicacious, " "esoteric" and others I'm tempted to look up in a dictionary, though I have a vague notion of the meaning from context. Usually I don't since understanding every word is not essential to enjoy the story.
>>641 Thank's I was able to watch it, and yes, it is uncomfortable. I'm not using IE though, it was youtube's video player that showed me this error message. But oh well!
Unfortunately, I don't understand the Japanese, but those phrases are essential for women to know - I believe.
That's right. The only consolation is that the top coment man expressed "shame" as a fellow white. Japanese men grope Japanese women on the train. On the other hand, foreigners in Japan sexually harass them in the bar.
But you two have good health, don't you. I cannot stand for more than 15 minutes because of a disease of cerebnal fruid. I have been in this state for 4 years. I hope someone to develop an efficient cure.
I have a sociopathic personality disorder. When I took a university entrace exam of a mecial school at 19 years old, an examiner said to me that I was a kichigai in the interview test. It is my traumatic event. All my efforts were in vain. I hate doctors.
>>647 The examinaer was a doctor or professor? They have to be sympathetic to people with desease. Kichigai is a discriminatory word and they should never use it.
There is this incident that an power outage happened in New York or somewhere else. 10 months later hospital was busy handling new born babies. there was no power supply and it was dark at night in rooms, there was nothing to do so couples made love. So, lots of new born babys after 10 (or 9?) months. Iceland's night is very long so the birth late ther has to be very high. 10 kids per couple? In Japan, it's 1.4 kids or so per couple. Very low.
Some Japanese doctors are rude. When I went to see a psychiatrist 4 years ago, he said that I was not ill but was never cured throughout my life. What is more, he said to me that he wasted his time because he spent no less than 20 minuites on my exam. Japanese psychiatrist are only a drug-seller.
I've learned from science-related magazines that no scientists can explain why planes fly. Still, Wright brothers made a success of taking off to the big sky by their hand-made plane after a process of trial and error. I suppose that the same goes for psychoactive drugs, but human hearts are more complicated than planes, therefore, the effectiveness of them are in doubt.
My first time here. My friend ask me to bring his mates to guide Tokyo but I can't speak English. I never met them. Also, I don't know Tokyo well to lead them. How about a guidance who can't guide anything? They unlikely have good time with me.
I think your joke is not reasonable. It is because human beings are more wise and so they can come up with a lot of things to do if they are in dark on a daily basis.
I've been busy lately . don't enough time to touch my cheek but for one hour a day .
by the way, I sometimes watch fashion site to my English skill improve . I am sure it will takes me higher level . do you have any good routine for learning English on your day ?
>>671 I listen to music with easy lyrics to help me. I learn the song in both languages and it helps a lot for pronunciation. Some English Hip-Hop is really hard for me..
>>675 that's so nice of you . I used to listen Beatles'song so very often . but I don't wanna recall the lyrics of them any more though. btw hip means oshiri .
>>676 your quiet welcome . It's useful to use Google-pic to know and memorize something . especially if you are beginner of English learner ,like me .
Who are these NanJaymins? I knew him first from One Pound Gospel. When I saw him, I thought, his cat like eyes are the most beautiful I have ever seen in my entire life. When he laughs they turn into lines and I get a total cardiac arrest.
>>686 A very very Neet is qualified to become a very Neet. A very Neet is qualified to be a normal Neet. I used to be a very very very Neet before. It's all in the mind.
If you define a Neet as a jobless person, there are lots of reasons from person to person why he/she became a Neet. So, basically I don't have negative impressions of him/her. Even in a group of ants, which are seen as hardworking, there are some fooling around at a certain rate. In short, the existence of them proves how normal their society is.
>>683 What is 1 pound gospel? I don't know that drama. I don't know what ethnicity you belong to but do people think cat like eyes are cool? NanJaymins are the people who are in NanJ board in 2channel. They talk about very random things. It's usually about baseball or things that related to it. but sometimes on that board they also talk about other sports or very random things that don't related to sport as well.
This is a typical Korean. He can't tell fact from fiction. Japanese like Monkey. Monkey is not a bad word. The worst words for Japanese are "You are like Korean." What is more, he looks more money than Japanese do. WHO must save them. They are Kichigai.
Connection to other people is more important than money. If you were completely isolated in a unpopulated island with tons of money, how could you spend it?
>>704 We live in modern days, so your exemplification sort of misdirects, I think. If we isolated in an inhabited island or something, you would be right.
>>708 Oh. You are right. However money is more important than the connection.
If you should went to an island that has a rule "You must not make any connection to other people. If you break the rule, you are killed, If you keep the rule and admit money is more important than the connection. you can go home," the connection would not be more important than money. We can make any extreme examples.
>>710 Interesting. But your example is a sort of threat. It doesn't help this thought experiment. What I mean is that money is valueable only when there are other people but you.
>>711 Money is originally based on the people's credit to the nation. If you go to the U.S, you can't use the currency as Japanese money. I mean it is nonsense to take your example .
>>712 I totally agree with you. This is just a thought experiment. I hope this dressing rain to turn into money. It is okay even if it's dollar or euro, and so forth.
The humidity in my room has been low lately. My digital hygrometer says below 30%. in this season. I don't like rain but at the same time, I am happy because it says above 40% now.
Where might I find a language-study partner? I found a website that seemed to be more about matchmaking than actual language study; and I'm not looking for a Japanese girlfriend.
An ideal partner would be someone who reads, or wants to read, novels in English.
I can also help with Icelandic and maybe French.
This is a real and working email address of mine, [email protected] and it is ok to write to me in Japanese. I just read it very very slowly; and if there's something I don't understand, I'll ask.
Is my message getting through? Best wishes for 2013, Japanese people will be there in less than an hour . Thanks for keeping company and translations. Please cheer up.
I just feel my wind and shine. To the sky, rise and ride. Resonance bright way. Rise to my feet. Fly to the sky. I'm a Dream Riser. so...Happy New Year.
>>778 Onani must be a road to be a hage person. You seem to have proved it. I've been doing onakin since the beginning of December last year. I will have gotten a grilfriend by Feb. 14. The "Onakin houkoku thread" says so.
I just watched "Isn't anyone alive" by Gakuryu Ishii. I loved it. I am looking for his other films. Please let me know if you come across films like this.
>>792 I like Japanese SHINTO as animism. but,I don't like STATE SHINTO. Emperor is used as pretext of violence in history. for political authority and money.
Shinto is not only being as animism. Tenno is not only used as that violence, authority and money. State Shinto occured the world war 2. The U.S. wanted to war against Japan. You don't know history.
I'm very sorry.I have distorted major opinion. I can understand. but I hate japan for some reason. I'm loser in society. There are many bad customs and way of thinking in japan. but I'm wrong thinking in this topic.
until modern period, invasion was common sense. both Japan and U.S. Regardless of human or animal. sorry
He is not a Japanese. Even if he were a Japanese, he would have been a Korean. But American may think he is a japanese and that a Japanese raped a 16-year old American girl. I hate Korean. They always rape all over the world. They export prostitutes all over the world.
>>813 What a good comment section. A lot of foolish anti-Japanese gaijin say a lot of foolish things. Those who can't recogineze the true history about Japan or between Japan and Korea are all liars. I want to learn more words so as to be able to express my feelings to Korean. This comment section is really invaluable.
>>819 I don't know the air that emerges from the wirting in my poor English. Because I can't speak English. What I am doing is English compositon. I am a normal man. Then, I am called netouyo by anti-Japanese people and baikokudo.
>>824 I'm other person There is no gas tap in my room. but I can't use air-conditioner because this old one takes more electrisity-charges than new type. I always wear flight jacket "N-3B".
>>835 I don't think so. I'm a Martian(kasei jin, 仮性人).
I do kendo. When I wear a dougi and a hakama, I don't wear a underwear. Dougi and Hakama have very rough surface, so the skin protect my son from serious damage. (correctly speaking, the skin is a part of my son. in fact, he can take care of himself. He is my pride.)
>>868 They can't do logical thinking. Japanese are one of the most logical people on the earth. It doesn't matter whether or not to be able to speak English . If we ask them some historical questions, they cannot reply. Of courese, historical questions might be mere knowledge questions. However, if we ask them the same questions after we show them fact data, they can't reply. We can tell fact from fiction. People all over the world should read "Bakanokabe."
[ who I love] OK? I think I need education by teacher, am I? I don't understand my English is correct. Or, we shouldn't worry about our English, and we progress day by day? Is After one backing in this thread?
Some people say "NETOUYO" when they lose an argument in 2ch. I don't like that kind of relativists. ( I don't say 871 is so.) I put an emphasis on the diversity in individual value. However some foolsih people use it when they lose an argument.
"Which do you like better, apples or oranges?" is a kind of "the diversity in individual value." but "1+1=?" is not. History is not a fiction, especially the history of nearer the modern times.
As you know the rulling party of Japan has changed following general election end of the last year. Under the new prime mister and his cabinet, japanese yen has been weakning further, and stock price has been surging. I hope Japan's economy would be recovered in a couple of years.
Masugomi will continue to interfere with Abe-san. Masugomi doesn't matter whether Japan's economy will be recovered or not. If the economy is recovered, the ad income will increase. If it should not be recovered, the democratic Party of Japan would get back. I hope voters are wise in the next election of the House of Councilors.
>>879 I think mass media has been favarable attitude to Liberal Democratic Party so far. Because LDP had been acquired high approval rate over the opinion poll survey conducted by media, which lead them to landslide victory in December.
The most independent voters (so called mutohaso) and mass media concerns about Abe's right wing remarks. He concealed his conservative policy well and rather put forward his economic measure. As a result he succeeded in making the economic recovery the main issue of election.
>>887 Um... he looks tired a little bit. PM is tough position as you know. i hope he won't get worse his health anymore. because now Japan is on crucial phase politically and economically.
haha, I did masterbation so it's still moning. Don't know why, my worried thinking vanish.but my positive desire and too. Ok, I'll go to library.I search old korea(koukuri shinra) and china (gen). And read business magazine
Hi,coming home. I'm hurry recently.but I will slowly today. I won't use PC as I can, Today's dinner is HOURENSOU TO TORINIKU NO SITYUU dayo. but I use PC now. I'm idiot. What shall I do? My desire is dead. I want to do nothing, but Freedam driving me crazy.
I read teacher's violence in 2ch. I was acted of violence by father. My body tremble ,and my hate is rised to father. I want to broke his new TV and kill him. I didn't want to see everything. I don't want to thinking. I'll be broken
I used to take more than 20 tablets of psychotropic medicines a day. Since stopping taking them, I had experienced terrible mania for 2 years. Not only do Psychologic drugs take effect, they also hurt you.
>>911 Yes. My psychiatric doctor prescribed 11 kinds of drugs. I didn't know how abnormal prescription it was at that time. She was a drug sellers, not a doctor.
>>911 The problem is not just when we will die. They make quality of our lives much lower if you take them too much. So are salt, suger, coke, potato chips and so forth. I wanna live a long and balanced life.
Doctors won't do congnitive remediation( or psychological therapy?). Almost every patient will be addicted to medicine. Doctors say that we will gradually decreace the amount of medicine. But that is not the problem.
Some kind of trauma and the failure of defence mechanism are at the unconscious mind. Medicine may provide a temporary effect. However, if doctors don't do the psychological therapy for each patient at the same time, the bad uncounscious mind each patient has will attack against himself.
I think most Japanese psychiatrist are a criminal. That may be because of the health-care system in Japan...
>>914 Once I read interview of Ryu Murakami which he told that he was in depression almost a year after winnning Naoki award. Then his wife told him to have enough food and sound sleep everyday, and he gradually recovered. He said it was a simple but most effective solution.
>>923 I'm sorry for just kidding. The novel of Ryu Murakami that won Akutagawa award was initially titled as "put butter on the clitoris". He renamed it "almost transparent blue".
For the time being, I have to eat rice cakes as a main dish every day because my parents sent me a lot of them. I'm grateful to them for their kindness, but to be honest, I've been sick and tired of them.
>>945 Oh, please get me wrong! It's a sort of my expression of love for her. You know, in my childhood, boys would often flip up the skirt of a girl whom they liked.
Australian foreign minister said that KOUNO's discourse should be observed. KOUNO's discourse says that Japan forced Korean women work as prostitutes. Of courese, there was no conceivable evidence for it.
Ausutralia should become wise. Those who can't tell fact from fiction are very ugly. Do Australian think Japanese are liars? Don't you know the nature that Korean are a psychopathic liar.
Do you know a song titled "Jupiter"? It was sung by Hirahara Ayaka a decade ago and made a big hit. The lyrics goes," Every day I listen to my heart. I can feel I'm not alone. We are all connected in inner world." ( Sorry for my poor translation of the original Japanese lyrics!)
Ah, I've forgot what I wanted to say.... In short, it can be said that your distress is , in a sense, my distress at the same time.
You shouldn't own up other people's distress as you would end up drowning yourself in extreme grief. Instead, try not to cause distress in other people. That should suffice.
No worries! In Buddhism, there is a saying,"一切衆生悉有仏性” With my English ability, it is very though for me to translate the Japanese proverb into English. But if you let me, I'll put it this way; " Everyone has a god in him/her."
Descartes, the father of mordern philosophy, said, " I think. therfore. I am." Actually, you will realize that the existence called "I" is nowhere to be found if you try to look for it. In Buddhism, the fact mentioned above is called 諸法無我
If you analyze the existence called "I", you will see you can divide it into two categories.
42 years old kimiko date-krumm beat 13th seeds nadia petrova by 6-2,6-0. it's just amazing.. not enough to a lot of our praise. its just beyond reproach.
On January 13, the Financial Times reported that Japan needs more imaginative policies on immigration and to keep more women in the workforce are needed.
The immigration policy is a bone of contention. The male and female equality is not related to the women's participation in society. None of your business.
>>963 I was trying to be sarcastic. >>965 What makes you think I them seriously? >>967 Who needs equality when we women live longer haha. Men are desperate to show off their so-called "superiority" in their short and miserable lives.
>>966 That's great but I personally think athletes who are not in thier prime anymore should retire. Along the same line, Miura Kazu should quit now. He is just a panda who can rake money for his club but he's not on professional level anymore. He's Giant Baba in succer. In case of Date, maybe she gave up having a kid so she came back.
>>972 do you smell female MPs as a hobby? >>974 Of course they are birth-giving machines. You wouldn't be alive if your mother did not give birth to you. Did you think a crane brought you to your parents?
I read FT regularly. Facts are facts for me. Remarks like the one that angered you, I put in a mental trash can. I understand what you mean, media can be so patronising. (It is as if there is only one way to exist). The rest of the world cannot comprehend Japanese way of things. I am aware of that to a certain extent.
Japanese media are also my enemy. I have a lot of enemies. I am happy when I find enemies. I can keep myself free from feeling myself worthless thanks to enemies.
>>973 no. you should't regard Kimiko and Kazu as the same line. Kimiko is still fightning the front line of pro-tennis. yet Kazu is not. Kimiko's truimphs are highly reported abroad like Washington Post, AP, BBC. so why dont you proud of her existence ?
I can't understand why you are proud of Date. She is neither you or your family. Her performance is really astonishing, and I feel like applauding as much as I can. But why do you feel proud? Is it because she is Japanese as we are? I cannot understand that feeling.
