Hey!!! you NEETs, nerds, YouTube-link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis, Yukorin enthusiasts, Nanako SOS admirers, Part-Time-Preachers, Diplomats' spoiled sons, losers who can't remember Kanji characters, Big-boobs fans, Weeaboos from all over the world, learners of Japanese who are too lazy to update their Japanese blogs very often, cunning linguists, stupid fan girls of Johnny's Boys, and an electrical super gay who suffers from mental disease And let's hope Igirisu-jin and the Internet-addicted housewife will come back soon!
This is the place to have a ball!!!!! Let's support recovery efforts in Japan!!!!!!
Nowadays, i'm disgusted with studying english. it is so difficult for me to improve my ability of conversation in english. Are you confident in conversation in english?
>>50 Hahaha, that is a wonderful comment. Yes it is some kind of addiction, but it is a good addiction. This has become an important part of life for many people.
Recently, I heard some songs again what is famous English songs. For example, "yesterday once more", "imagine", "top of the world", and so on. I first heard them when I was a junior high school student, but I could not understood their mean. But now, I understand their mean and reason why they were loved. They are very excellent songs!
Anyway, lately I've got fired from a telephone appointment company. On Tuesday's noon, I was about to go to my workplace. And then I got a call from my temporary employment agency."Ah, hello. Mr.Umechi. Can I talk with you now?" the caller said. "? Yes, OK. What?" I replied.
"Ah..., frankly, you're fired by the company you worked as a telephone appointment staff member yesterday" said she... Fuck!
I can't understand why the "scumpany" can realize the ability of one beginner on the first working day of him. Universally speaking, every beginner makes some mistakes. But the scumpany does so. Son of a gun!
I do think the scumpany is crazy, insane, odd, weird, and cruel.
They should learn that everybody can't realize the ability of one worker on the first day. Well, I'm glad I'm fired now. And I can say "Hurray! Hurray!" and "Hallelujah!"
That's all. Thank you for reading my idle complaints.
※Scumpany=Scum+Company. It means a company where scum workers work in.
Lately, Ryuhei Ueshima, a member of Japanese comedian trio, Dachyou club(or Ostrich club) has been said that he resembles new Japanese prime minister Noda.
However, I don't think so. And I wonder if Ueshima can imitate of him completely... Because I've never seen he can mimic one celebrity completely. His mimicries always resemble only face of the celebrity, not voice of.
So I'm afraid if he shows his mimic of Noda, it doesn't make all viewers laugh but silent...
(To >>63) Well, I guess my ability is just less than others... But as I wrote on >>62, every beginner makes some mistakes when they work in a workplace for the first time or second. That's why I wrote "I do think the scumpany is crazy, insane, odd, weird, and cruel".
My anus is hairy. I have hair around my anus so I appreciate Japanese type toilet with washing spray function to wash anus or else when I poo, poo would stick to the hair around anus no matter how hard I wiped it with paper.
I was wondering if there was any difference between those expressions below : A) I'm planning to go (somewhere). B) I'm planning on going (somewhere). Can anybody shed light on this?
>>90 No No!! I'm not worker. I'm a university student who got a job before 2 months. I have a chance for devote to something!!! So then I study English!!!!!
>>98 I understand what you mean but you don't have to write perfect English. Japanese English learners worry too much about their mistakes. To write a lot of English is important even if your English includes some gramatical mistakes.
I dont like AKB48 but they are popular. I think Japanese pop music is already dead. Why are over-cute groups like them popular in Japan? Sing n dance are worse than Korean.
I rarely watch TV, so I don't know what the group is like. I happen to know a Korean group named Kara when I was watching a program titled "syabekuri 007" on youtube. They were so cute and amiable that I became a gig fan of hers right away.
You have to start somewhere. At least the Internet makes it easy to find things to read. Imagine how hard it would be to build a vocabulary if you had to travel abroad or have books mailed to you...
In a Japanese animation "YuruYuri", it is appended English subtitles in one movie site. トイレ is translated to "bath-room" in there. Is this translation popular in America or other English speaking country?
In my opinion, you can use the word when you are at home. Because the bathroom generally has a toilet in it. on the other hand, if you are in public places such as a restaurant, it's better to use a word "restroom".
Hi, there. Day after tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of you know, the 9/11 attacks. Ah..., time goes by so quickly, right? At the time, I was...11 years old. And when I watched the footage of the attcks on TV after school, I was very very shocked. At first, I thought it was just a trailer of one movie. However, I noticed it was not so, but "nonfiction". We all shouldn't forget but let our offsprings know the attacks and war is worthless and nonsense. It's important to all of us. All wars ONLY make casualties and fears and sorrow. They can't make some benefits, as you surely know.
Ah, today's myself is like Ono Yoko(?). lol.
Well, I need to clean my room... My room now is a little bit dirty. So I will use a "Wave", a cleaning thing produced by Unicharm.
>>135 I don't know because I am not a native speaker. But I suppose the word " toilet" is such a blunt expression that people tend to be reluctant to use it.

K guys. It's me again. Bored again. And yes, time flies, doesn't it? It is so weird that whenever I see the date 11th of September, the first thing that strikes me is the the 911 attacks but Oshima Mai's Birthday. Guess I am just a little bit too obsessed with her. Lulz. Btw , in case anyone is curious, I'm seventeen. Night night. It's three in the morning here in UK. Getting cold and rainy. Not good, but then oh well, what can you expect.

If you want to be very formal and polite, go for 'bathroom'.

Toshishun was a spoiled son weary of earthly life. He visited a wizard and asked for source of magics. The wizard said he should have a trial then said not to speak out while he prepares then disappeared. Night came then monsters attacked him, flames burned him, army of gods casted him into hell but he didn't quite speak anything. After days of torture, the King Yama got totally angery and made him reborn as a woman. She was given a lovely baby. One day her super intelligent husband went upset because she couldn't answer him for ages, he squished the baby then she sighed "Ah..." The wizard appeared and said "Foolish loves are, ruins what no monster could." I think the wizard is right here.
『杜子春』 has another version. There at hell the King Yama got angry so he summoned souls of Toshishun's family. They were transformed into horses, but their faces certainly reminded him of happy days. The army of hell tortured the horses. They were beaten, skined, fallen to ground. Mother whispered to him in her horse form, "I believe you have your reason, you don't have to speak, I'm alright..." Hearing that Toshishun couldn't help crying "Mother..." Magic was broken. The wizard said, "Pity loves are, bind you on the earth, but if you didn't speak out then I would have left you there."

>>146 That's an impressive picture! I can understand the reasoning behind keeping the bus there, but it doesn't look very safe. I'm sure the building was not designed to have that much weight on top of it.
You could build a memorial park near the building with pictures of the bus. Then people could see the real building, see the pictures of the bus on the top, and get the idea of how high the waves were.
>>146 In early 1900, there was a very strong tornado that caused extensive damage to my hometown. The school building was pushed from the top of a hill down to the bottom. The rail yard and police station were totally destroyed. The city hall was torn in half.
Many pictures of the damage were taken. Each year, during the town celebrations, a picture board is set up at many of the damaged sites that show pictures of the damage from the tornado. Much of the landscape is different from 100 years ago but enough remains that you can understand the scale of the damage by comparing it to the real world in front of you.
>>156 The memorial park idea sounds good. There are many pictures that show how high Tsunami was.
http://abozo.blog.so-net.ne.jp/2011-03-13-1 It's not that there was rooftop parking space. It's that Tsunami was at least as high as the hight of the building and after it went away, the car remained on the top of the building. The ship in the second picture on the same page is one of the most famouse photo.
http://www.iwate-np.co.jp/cgi-bin/topnews.cgi?20110501_6 Maybe it's the same scholor group and they insisted the ship should be remain there with the building under it strengthened. But the municipal government insists securing safety is the top priority, meaning taking the ship away, residents there agreed with it. So it was taken away. http://peaceman.jugem.jp/?eid=2253
Judging from tornade, you're from America? The way your town remember the tragedy in early 1900 was good idea. That way people can raise awareness of natural disaster while they can mourn the victims of the tornado...
Every time I see this kind of photos, I think that a huge man like Galliver played pranks. Actually Galliver is the human size because he is an ordinary man but you know what I mean.
>>159 I'm from America, the middle of Illinois. The land is mostly flat here, so tornadoes are not uncommon in the summer. They come and go, and we rebuild each time. We can't move somewhere else because someone has to stay and grow the corn! (^_^)
>>160 That's a good way to say it. It makes sense.
>>161 Is that so the bike frame doesn't rust when you take the seat off? You can take the seat off so nobody steals the bicycle, but then water gets inside the frame and rusts it. You have to put something over the hole to keep the water out. We use a plastic cap for that here.
>>163 Yeah, I heard it takes huge flat land to spawn a tornado. Hense, midwest. We rarely have a tronado here and if it happens, very small one compared to those of America.
I'm not >>161 but it's a prank that happened in the premises of Tokyo university. I didn't know that but it is getting people's attentions in social media such as Twitter since the photo was posted online. It's called broccoli terror/ terrorism humorously.
>>171 There's always something everywhere you go. Tornadoes here, Hurricanes and heat waves in the south, earthquakes and wildfires in the west, typhoons, etc.
Could you recommend an English conversational school for me? I want to study business English such as telephone and conference. I don't stick to native instructor and inexpensive tuition.
I was surprised at a breaking news of Japan. Minister of economy and industry Hachiro has resigned today. The reason he resigned is he made some inappropriate comment. One is "Death town", which was said for the disaster area in Fukushima, and another "I gave you radioactivity", which was said to a newswritter.
I think the former isn't a problem. Death town is truth we all can't deny. However, the latter is absolutely a problem. I wanna say his mind is like elementary school student's mind.
Ummm, I'm afraid of "loach" Noda administration's next trouble...
Good morning everyone. My breakfast is the usual pizza toast with cheese, tomato source, onion and green pepper. And ice cafe au lait. This is a great heaven for me.
“The thing I don’t understand about the suicide person is the people who try and commit suicide for some reason they don’t die and that’s it. They stop trying. Why? Why don’t they just keep trying? What has changed? Is their life any better now? No. In fact it’s worse because now they’ve found out one more thing you stink at. Okay, that’s why these people don’t succeed in life to begin with. Because they give up too easy. I saw, pills don’t work, try a rope. Car won’t start in the garage, get a tune up. You know what I mean? There’s nothing more rewarding than reaching a goal you have set for yourself. ”
Today, in Japan, has a night with full moon. As you all know, full moon is beautiful and wonderful. However..., now I can't see moon in the sky! Aw! What a bummer! Ummm, in my living area, moon still doesn't appear! Hurry up! Hurry up!
Hey moon, I bought a Coca cola to drink, seeing you!
You can't give a bone of a chicken to dogs. It breaks vertically and sticks to a dog's throat so chiken bone is no no to dogs unless if you want to kill them.
I thought that was true of bird bones in general; They're hollow inside, so they shatter easily, and the fragments are sharp and dangerous for animals.
It is often used in the shorter form as vet. I couldn't spell veterinarian so I could have replaced it with vet but I just thought animai doctor is easier for Japanese English leaners here to understand.
>>240 Yes, I go to college to major in vet. The entrance exam of private universities was hard for me to pass. It was more than ten times as many applicants as could be admitted.
>>249 So far they say there's been no radiation leakage. The nuclear facility was not a power generation plant, it was a waste processing plant. The explosion was not in a reactor or any reactor system, it was in a furnace used to melt down waste. The site has a reactor, but it is only a very small one used for the generation of radioisotopes. It doesn't make electricity.
Yeah, I don't think I believe it either, the French have a history of making false statements on nuclear issues. I'll wait for independent confirmation from another government before I believe anything they say.
>>254 That's nice. Wear skirts and upload photos of yourself to sexually appeal to your fans all over the world. Let them know there's a different world than theirs. Oh, shave before that. lol
>>256 Hey, wearing dresses is a lot of work! It takes a REAL MAN to properly wear a dress! First there's shaving and make-up to be done, then you have to fix up your hair, walking in heels is a chore, and you have to be mindful of the dress and not snag it on anything, you have to be careful when sitting down or standing up, and so on. Most guys couldn't handle it!
Good morning everyone. It's a bit cool this morning, isn't it? I have already had the usual breakfast. very yummy. By the way,It's trouble that earwax tend to cling to my right ear.
>>247 Yes, i do. I slipped on the national center test lol so, I couldn't pass a national university. Some students dream to be public servant to cope with some epidemic.
>>265 I consider starting an animal clinic but I don't know it could be by only myself. Father isn't vet. Yeah it's as u said. To be employed at zoo is very competitive.
>>267 I think it costs a lot to start an animal clinic so maybe it's necessary to get a job at an animal clinic first and hone your skills and save lots of money.
>>272 Stick with it! Both my grandfather and my stepfather died of lung cancer from smoking. Smoking is an awful habit. Just think of how much cleaner your lungs will be, and how much money you'll save by not buying cigarettes. Don't be a slave to the addiction! You can beat it!
In the early morning, it is getting cooler but other than that, it's still like summer and scorching hot. Besides no air conditioner here in this room and electric fan brings warm air and I'm going insane.
You don't have an air conditioner in your room? I feel for you. They say summer heat doesn't last after the equinox, so please stand it a few more days. I found a lttle autumn yesterday. The sound of insects. Autumn is just around the corner!
autumn? it's fantasy. once the front line went below the mainland and became cooler , but a strong typhoon (no.12?) blew away the front line above the mainland. now it seems like the front line is coming across the mainland again, but also another typhoon is approaching to japan, so it's almost same situation.
Make sure to wear a helmet if you are riding off-road, and tell someone when and where you will be. If you are riding alone and get injured, you may not be able to summon help by yourself. If you make a schedule with someone and you are late, they can come searching for you. This can save your life!
What I wanted to say is that you can never have a sense of acomplishing something, if your goal is likened to horizon. it's like a horse running after a carrot hanged in front of it.
Do you know the fact that Ayana Taketatsu, the person in Azunyan, has a boyfriend? I was so surprised that I won't go and watch the K-on movie, which will be shown in December.
>>314 On the other hand, it's better to try something and fail than to never try and forever wonder if you may have succeeded.
Think of it this way: If your are attacked by an angry bear, it's better to try to fight him than to just give up. If you just give up, he'll eat you, and you'll be remembered as the pool soul who was eaten by a bear. If you fight and lose, you'll be remembered as the crazy bastard who got in a fight with a bear and lost. But if you fight and win, you'll be remembered as the crazy badass motherfucker who kicked a bear's ass in a fistfight! The odds are 2 to 1 that you'll come out better off, even if you get killed.
>>318haha,that's bullshit.. Are u S on your chest?! if You enclose bear ,You should act dead Person. so bear may leave around you that bear usually knows something dead is NOT to eat これじゃ通じないですか?
>>318 That's an urban legend. Playing dead will not make a bear leave you alone. There are two kinds of bear attacks, predatory and self-defense. Predatory means the bear is hungry and wants to eat you. It will eat dead things too. Playing dead will not help. Self-Defense means the bear is defending something, usually food or cubs. In this case the bear sees you as a threat, and will kill you even if you lie down.
If the bear has not charged at you yet, you can usually just leave the area. Stand tall, speak in a calm voice, and back away. Do not turn around and run, the bear will chase you, and he can run faster than you. Do not climb a tree, brown and black bears are expert climbers. Do not look the bear directly in the eyes, that will make him mad. If the bear is charging at you, then you have to stand your ground and look like you are ready to fight. Bears don't like fighting with humans and they will usually turn aside if you don't challenge them. If he's REALLY mad at you, then you have no choice but to fight him. The best policy is to avoid being in this situation in the first place.
Hey you guys. Do you play any Ero-games? They are very fun and some of them impressed me and some others make me happy by means of so pretty girls! And the others arouse me to masterbation when pretty and erotic girls are fucked.
I hate ero games !because those games seem to omit many important things to get a girl friends . I suspect that Those games will leave you alone forever If I have times to play ero games ,Iwould like to buy a magazime about mens fashion (for instance mens nonno )and study by the magazine. If you do , girls would feel you so cool wihout your basic looks are not good :D
>>320 You are Mutsugoro or someone? You sound like you are so familiar with the nature of the animal. How about sending out " I love you" or " we are friends" beam to him so as not to be attacked ? How effective is the strategy ? This is just what I learned from my experience. I've once been surrounded by wild dogs. I like dogs, so I emitted the beam when they were barking at me. No sooner had it reached them than they stopped barking.
Thanks.I will write under here. (↑sorry, maybe I already made wrong this sentence. How can I say "under here". Bottom?)
Both my mother and my father have ever been Europe. = My mother and my father experienced to go to Europe. Either my mother or my father has ever been Europe. = My mother or my father experienced to go to Europe. Neither my mother nor my father has ever been Europe. = My mother and my father didn't experience to go to Europe.
Are they correct? Maybe second sentence is a little bit strange. But I want you to not care. This is a similitude.
>>332 You need the word "to" before the place. The "ever" is unnecessary. Both my mother and my father have been to Europe.
The second one is odd because "Either" means one but not both. It's like saying that your mother or your father has been to Europe but you don't know which one. Is this what you intended?
>>335 Hopefully it wasn't too expensive; Air conditioning repairs can get really expensive depending on what was broken.
>>332 You need "to" before "Europe" to express the destination. Without "to", "Europe" is the direct object of "been", and you're stating that your parents were Europe.
We almost had a protest near here today, in the city of East St. Louis. The government is building a large dollar construction project in a very poor neighborhood. They promised the people that they would be employed in the construction and maintenance. Instead, they hired illegal labor from another state, and the local business they claim to have hired was actually a fake. The people were outraged and prepared to march on the construction site and shut it down, but the riot police were dispatched with clubs and tear gas. The people were scared away. The government will not allow the press to report about it, not even on the internet, but they can't stop people from talking or posting about it. Now I've posted it on 2ch, and now even Japan knows. They might scare us away for a day or two, but the time is coming when people won't be scared enough to give up!
Ugh. I meant "large construction project", I wanted to delete the word "dollar" and I forgot. (I was going to type the dollar amount, but I couldn't find a good source for it.)
This is the first time I've ever seen the word, I found it interesting that it has in common with Mukade, the Japanese for centipede. According to my dictionary, centipede means one handred feet. Mukade(...)百足if you write it in Chinese character, which means one hundred feet. (ムカデは漢字で書くと百足になる....become ?)
This is one of the shocking findings. Even a Sumo stable has Ustream channel and live broadcast it's morning practice session and all that. What an age! What an Internet! I remember I was surprised one of Sumo wrestlers have his blog account and post entries. The time has changed faster than I expected...

no. just exposed sumo association is still rotten. obviously hakuho was not in his zone, and he had admitted the reason of last time lost against kotoshogiku was the pressure under the circumstances. since the retirement of kaio, national Ozeki become absent, sumo association is apprehensive about the loss of galleries. of course hakuho must know those situations ( i dont know he was in on the fix ) , he was obliged to give in by the invisible power. whether sumo is a sport or an entertainment , the definition is always vague so the situations wont make progress.
so lets talk about one more aspect. kaio is a symbolic figure especially at kyusyu-basyo. his absence at kyusyu-basyo means lost of enormous money for the sumo association. if kotosyogiku is promoted to ozeki, since he is also native kyusyu-jin, he may offset kaio's absence at the kyusyu-basyo to come in november. doubtlessly kotoshogiku is a fabulous fighter, but personally i dont think he is the most adequate to ozeki in potential compared to tochiozan, kisenosato, toyonoshima etc.
4chan (http://4chan.org/) is very popular in America and it's in the news a lot. It's seen as being a bad site, for perverts, hackers, and mean people (trolls). Not everyone is bad, but there are a few bad people. It is an imageboard like Futaba.
Right now there are only 70,000 people on because it is morning here.

Today I did a short-term parttime job. But I also got an annoying story. Now, I'm gonna tell the story to all of you. (Forgive me if you're tired with this long long story)
I worked at a shopping mall. Today, the mall has an event(Sorry, I've forgotten the name...) and most customer came for the event. I wasn't interested at the event at all. Even if not, I had to work seriously. and factually, I did worked seriously. The work was to give handbill to passers-by. And the shop I worked is on the 2F. On there, some customers were seeing the event performing on the 1F. And then five (Maybe, elementary school students)boys came there. They were seeing it, sitting on the floor and eating McDnald's burgers and fried potatos and juices in front of me... I thought "Oh no...don't eat these here...". but, after a few seconds, "Well, they will go home when the event is over" I thought and ignored them. But I was shocked when the event was over, they left all trashs (paperpags, papercups, and crumbs)there. However, a boy of the group shouted "Who did left these~!?" to someone. And then I thought "Ah, they call for the bringer to clean up". Although I was expecting they come back and clean up, rhey didn't came there! After 5minutes, after 10minutes, they didn't. Some passers-by shocked at those things left behind and said"Who did this? Fuckin' nuts!", passing by me... But, the stupidest is ME. I should've scolded them before they left there...
After all, they finally came back there after 20minutes!At the time, I thought "You son of a gun!". But, because a clean staff member came there to clean up. So I said loud "Kids who did such silly thing are scum!", although they still were in there. That's all.
They are pitiful because they can't understand commn sense in this world.
I love big boobs as well as small one. Anyway, I love beautiful one.
BTW. If I would like to apply "Boobs" to a pronoun, which should I use "It", "They", or another? And in the above sentence, I used a word "One", but is it right?
>>498 What for? You can ignore his post anytime if you don't want to read it. I regard Umechi as an earnest English learner. I suppose the reason why he makes such long sentences is mainly to improve his Englsih. Of course, he must be glad if you read his post but it doesn't matter to him. Please let him write long sentences!
>>502 One boob, two boobs. I squeezed it (one boob). I grabbed them them (two boobs). "What do you think of her boobs?" "I like them." "That chick has a nice rack." "Check out those tits on her!"
Those are some slang terms for boobs. I hope this helped.
>>496 Umechi-san, today I was thinking about the uneducated, untrained youth of Britain, and saying to myself, if we had a Japanese style education system, perhaps we there would be no crime. I imagined that if a child in Europe went through a similar education system, new European generations would be more caring, kind, productive and the society would improve.
The innocent example makes me think Japan still has less crime to worry about simply because children are normally well behaved.
When I went to London with my wife and 6-years-old daughter, my wife and daughter went sight seeing around London while I was visiting France on business. After I came back to London, they said that they enjoyed very much, and people were very nice and kind to them.
>>522 because he promised to be promoted to ozeki. ozeki is so stable position unless their result are make-koshi in a row. so they should avoid critical injuries, tend to avoid hardball matchs, whicn means they dont have to win unnecessally. for example baruto, kotooshu were promised rikishi, but their career at ozeki are not better than they used to.
>>521 The uphill direction, from Saitam to Kinugawa hot-spring, took more than 12 hours lol Ive checked out the distance from Kobe to Kyoto, it is 71km!
>I wanted to ask your experience of cycling. But it was the confusable sentence. >I had to say "How many years have you practiced cycling?"
I 've not got particular trainings. (I'm not serious player.) enjoy landscape and ride longer step by step! You can have a rest anytime if you get tired.
>Oh good. But I don't have a road bike. I have only a granny's bicycle (Mama-chari). >What bicycle did you use? My bike is cross bike not road bike. I think sports bike is better than Mama-chari... not so expensive one.
>>541 i know this, it must be around Kiyosato area, right? i've never tried it but i could never miss the big sign of the shop while i was driving around there.
>>542 Your English sentence sounds little weird. The following passage is my thought. "I wonder if there will be any experts of Shogi of American or Chinese for the after few decades."
But I don't have confidence on this passage. ....what do you guys think about it?
>>549 Yeah, that is a little broken. In any case, "for the after few decades" is wrong, he wants "after a few decades".
If he's asking if there will be Japanese Shogi experts located in America or China, then just say "America" and "China". Also, the word "of" after "Shogi" needs to be changed to "in". "I wonder if there will be any experts of Shogi in America or China after a few decades?"
If you are asking if there will be American or Chinese people who are Shogi experts, that's different. In this case, American and Chinese are words describing the Shogi expert, so they should come first. "I wonder if there will be any American or Chinese experts of Shogi after a few decades?"
The first case is asking if there will be any Shogi experts living in America or China. (Maybe a Japanese moved overseas.)
The second case is asking if there will be any American or Chinese people who are Shogi experts. (They may have moved to Japan.)
>>551 Thanks a lot! I understood it by your accurate advice. But I think it is no need a question mark on "I wonder if -" passage. Don't you? (or Isn't it? which is right?)
>>555 i'm sorry, wrong was too strong. just don't afraid to make mistakes. i'm not good at grammer, but it sounded something weird to me and that's it.
>>552 If you are asking a question of someone else, you need the question mark. If you are making a statement, then you don't need it.
For example, the garbage can next to my desk is getting full. I wonder how much more garbage will fit into the can. If my boss comes over, maybe I can ask him. "I wonder how much more garbage will fit into the can?"
(And then he will tell me to empty it anyway, even though it isn't full yet...)
>>306 Thank you, I once went riding with a gentleman. Our way was wet somehow, I slipped and he fell too, but he also was a doctor, while he touched injuries my nose bled and I went into coma. We had cell phones but batteries had been consumed because he liked talking. He gently whispered to my ears "Everyone dies..." What could be wrong? What I thank you the most is not to doubt individual compatibility first while it solves all problems for you. I thought it's sort of a situation in which you would ruin yourself in the end when you have emotions, like a trap. We know how charming a trap could be, we believe charms can't be bad itself, and yes, nobody actually has to be a monster in person. At least when traps don't work properly you need to change some or avoid involving as long as you have urge to touch them badly, which I often had to because I'm a weak individual, while brave people changed a lot.
>>564 There was a kid who lived near my parents that died under similar circumstances. He was riding a motorcycle in the woods, and he struck his head on a branch and crashed. Both of his legs were broken. Since he did not tell anyone where he was, nobody came looking for him, and it was dark before his parents noticed he was missing. The police formed a searching party but they did not know where to search. A search of the area was conducted with no specific focus, and he was not found. He was missing until the next spring, when hikers found the wreckage of the motorcycle. A second search was done and his body was found almost two kilometers away. He had tried to crawl back from the wreck to get help. The coroner said based on the evidence he had lived for at least a day after the accident. If he had told anyone where he was planning to be, he would have been found alive.
You say Japanese drivers of Shinkansen won't have an accident, but it's not true. Japanese media and government have strained the truth until now. We Chinese people are a very smart one, so the number of train accidents will fall sharply in a year or two.
>>582 you chinese should realize the differences of safety standard from scratch between japan and china. japanese take first years of initiation as the most important periods because they must build up their credit to their tasks.
To most of the American anime fan community the Japanese language is incomprehensible and may as well be some alien language from the moon. So Japanese spoken language is called "moonspeak", Japanese letters are called "moonrunes", and niconico is called "moontube". (like Youtube from the moon)
I guess some people might think this is offensive but I think it's hilarious. (I am easily amused)
>>594 The key to learning anything is doing it. Reading books and studying will only get you so far. Mistakes are a natural part of the process. Avoiding mistakes is avoiding learning. Show me a person who has never made a mistake, and I will show you a person who has never done anything new!
ahh this thread has gotten too long and i can't keep up with it. >>609 yea, it means climbing down a rope. but i think it's a specific way that you do it... i could be mistaken.
>>609 It's a certain type of rope climbing, to get down quickly. It's used for rescue operations. You fasten the rope at the top, and the rope goes through a device which allows you to slow down the rope as it passes through. (Think of a pulley with a brake on it.) You just let the rope though the device to go down. Skilled people can descend very quickly this way.
There is a video of this at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj-E4szMmHU First he ties a knot at the end of the rope so it can't get pulled through the device by accident. Then he puts the rope into the rappel device, and uses it to descend.
Who the hell deleted my favorite song from You tube? I love " rainy walk" sung by Koyanagi Yuki and Takeuchi Mariya and I've enjoyed listening it from time to time. Today, I noticed it deleted from You tube! Oh, my God!!
>>638 This is a thread about English language in English BBS. Making mistakes is no problem, but if you write here with the purpose of achieving your goal, i think you should at least be able to write "language" correctly. of course, i think it's totally ok making careless mistakes but if you really didn't know how to spell a word, will you spell it that way rest of your life? i just wanted to let him/her know with fun way. and i don't think i meant to be harsh or mocking.
if you're using Becky, a mailer, you can check your spelling very easily.
I am exhausted. I have so much to do.I missed you crazy NEETs. It is nearly thirty degrees C outside. Yes in ENGLAND! It is a very delayed summer heatwave we are having.
I have a lot of work. I have a request from you, the kings of NEETdom, but I am too tired to write it down. Apologies for this intermission. Now back to work.
I heard Japanese peaple are often reply that "I'm fine thank you, and you?", but it sounds so tedious for native English speaker. So you should reply "Good", "Great", "Not bad", and so on.
Patrick stumbled out of a pub right into the arms of Father Logan. "Drunk again!" declared the priest. "Shame on you! When are you going to straighten out your life?" "Father," asked Patrick, "What causes arthritis?" "Drinking cheap whiskey, gambling and playing around with loose women,” said the Father, “How long have you had arthritis, anyway?" "Oh, it’s not me," slurred Patrick, "The Bishop has it!"
Two English ladies were discussing their vacation plans on a London street corner near an Irish lady. "We're planning a lovely holiday in Devon this year," said one. "Oh you oughtn't to do that," said the other, "there are Irish there! It would be awful." "Dear me!" said the first lady. "Well where are you going?" "Salisbury," she replied. "But Salisbury is simply crawling with Irish!" the first objected. At this point the Irish lady could no longer hold her tongue. "Why don't you go to hell?" she suggested. "There’ll be no Irish there!"
>>670 If you don't want to improve your English skills, why are you writing here? Before that, why did you bother to learn English in the first place? Please could you explain to me. Thank you.
Perhaps he's a new breed of troll? What makes sense in the real world doesn't necessarily makes sense in 2chan. So just let him preach what he wants. The golden rule, don't feed a troll applies here.
We have a tendency that we spend much time talking "in Japanese" about how we can be a good English speakers, instead of practicing "in English" such as writing, speaking "in English" practically.
It's better to start climbing a mountain step by step instead of spending too much time on discussing how to climb it.
I'm studying traveller's English. If you keep in mind the expression "〜, please.", I think it's enough in most cases. For example, "Dollars, please." at exchange counter, "Check in, please" at registration, and so on.
Hey guyyyys Good lovely evening? hehe I think the best way is learning abroad. Coz you could improve pronounciations. Or they should employ more native teachers. Gosh I really need to learn American English. How should I? Why Americans dislike British English ='[ Do you guys prefer American one? Or British one? I mean queen's English.
Oh that's not good tho. Convo is the most important. Japanese don't speak English properly coz they care if it's perfect. To be honest none of natives speak perfectly/correctly lol that's same in the world. Even you are Japanese, you have some words you don't know. Keep listening and copy it then speak it. Don't hesitate. Speaking to natives much helps your English than studying it at school. I'm quite sure about that =] note:Sorry my English is not perfect tho lol
>>700 It's not really a case of like or dislike, but it's just evolved a bit differently. The biggest differences come from a man called Noah Webster, who changed some English words to both make them easier to learn, and to try and make the language more independent from British English (since he still saw Britain as an enemy of the USA). Personally, I prefer British English for some reason, though I went to an American school when I lived in Ethiopia for a few years.
>>705 You are right, however, we have a dilemma. The perfectionism led Japan to a wealthy country. We can make industrial products without a flaw. That has been our strong point.
One tip: If you want your English to sound natural, instead of saying "I am," or "you are," or "we are," say "I'm," "you're," or "we're" instead. It's how many English-speakers write, and it's also how many of them talk! It feels a bit more "relaxed," too; compare "Let's go get drinks!" to "Let us go get drinks!" The second one feels TOO formal. It's how a robot would talk.
The cheapest would be if you make skype-friends with native English speakers.
The ides is to keep practsing until you gain confidence. Therefore the person you pick as your skype English conversation friend should earn your trust, so you can be comfortable.
>>706 That's lovely you prefer British one. and so do I. Being formal never annoy you. 'could you please.../ can I have a.../ would you mind if I do .../ etc =] a bit posh, easy to understand and sounds so clear.
>>707 the perfectionism? Is that why they don't employ me because I have asthma? i just was fired last week coz I got an attack of it. Cant find any other reason. Sigh* that's not fair. I understand that but still >< !!! it can't be helped.
>>705 In fact, native speaker can understand English with Japanese accent. therefore, Japanese should talk incorrect English more and have incorrect English corrected. Otherwise, Japanese are not going to be able to improve my English. Self-study has limitations.
Calm down you guys. I know some sentence didn't make sense but they mean to be practicing, right? What's the 'writing in English'? Is it some group? I thought we were not allowed to write in English. My bad.
>>716 > Japanese are not going to be able to improve my English. why you suddenly say "my". you mean all japanese people should help you improve your english?
>>716 Because in that sentence, subject and object were not equal. You said Japanese in the beginning, then the last one(my) supposed to be 'Japanese' or own. But even it was a mistake, I could understand what you mean.
>>729 That's right. I was very fortunate to be born and raised in Japan. I like Japan for its people, culture, food, and history, though I'm not saying it's the greatest country in the world or anything like that.
>>747 sorry, but please forgive his irrationality. he's come down with Echinococcus. the fact mades him behave desperately. please take account of that and watch him over lukewarmly.
If you were told to explain in English what a dog tastes like to a person who has never eaten one, what words were you choose?
You would probably be unable to express the taste.
So you see that the mere taste of some food cannot be expressed to omhers and that English, therefore, is more inconvenient than you might have imagined.
Being proud of one's country raises one's spirit. >>743 definitely has a point, it is his wishful thinking though. My impression is that that your beautiful sophisticated closed country is no longer isolated since WWII. I understand what you are trying to protect and empathise. However, your approach makes you come across as an immensely paranoid person. There must be a balance. Maybe you can protect Japan by teaching the world "Japanese values". You might be surprised to find those sentiments exist in other nation's hearts too. Just play on those universal values and the whole world would protect Japan.
I am from America and I am studying Japanese. English is a very difficult language, but please don't give up. I want to be able to talk to everyone freely someday.
>>769 kk u r not Japanese either Aussie lol fair enough. Why do you want to study Japanese? If you know Chinese/Cantonese/mandarins, it would help you to understand Japanese.
>>782 So what's your mother tongue? I'm interested in other languages. If i had a chance, I would study Malaysian and vietnamese. Tell me some words from your first language. Then I will teach some Japanese in return.
>>783 AH... I am not sure, if I said I was born in Australia? So my mother tough would be English.
But when I visited my family in Thailand I learn some basic vocabulary.
For example: Krai kai kai gai - Who sell's the chicken egg (everyone laughs when you said that) chuay duai - Help! sawat dee khrab - Hello (男) } Usually you bow here sawat dee kha - Hello (女) } khorb khun khrab - Thank you(男) khorb khun kha - Thank you (女)
Also I did pick up some khmer as well, I can't really speak it, but I can understand. (weird right? I just grew up listening to it all the time.) Maybe like I can understand more Japanese than I can speak and I can type more Kanji than I can write.
>>763 "Talk freely" may look a little strange, but it's fine. Admittedly it does sound like a translator's sentence. If you'd like me to phrase it differently, I could say: "I would like to talk to everyone without having to worry about a language barrier."
>>792 Adding "I want" before "feel free to..." makes the whole sentence sound a bit odd to me. "Feel free to blah blah" used on its own sounds good when you suggest someone not to hesitate. But I'm just a English learner. I'm not very sure.
First time poster, so please forgive my noob ways. Someone asked if 758 was really a native speaker. I really don't think so...The first two sentences seem like they could come from a native speaker who was trying to speak simply for his/her audience...but we generally don't use "freely" that way. The usage is technically correct...but it sounds like the poster was thinking in Japanese, and then translated it into English. I could be mistaken, but that's just the feeling I got.
My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.
We're making curry tonight, so I have questions about curry. What's the right consistency for curry? Do you make it watery or thick? Also, what do you normally add to curry? We put in stew beef, potatoes, carrots, onions, and red peppers. (I would like to throw hotter peppers in there, but my roommate can't eat very spicy food)
>>812 I think "without so many obstacles in the way" sounds a bit more natural. But there are a lot of ways to express that idea: "I'd like to talk to everyone without having to deal with to language barrier." "I'd just like to talk to everyone without worrying about anything else." etc.
>>826 Nabe can't be complete without naganegi, though you might've done the meal and gone to bed already.
>>827 As to Japanese style curry, I love thick one. So I use less water than the direction. Ingredients are chicken, onions and carrots. Beef makes the soup muddy (muddy might be a bad word choice, but you get the idea), and potatoes easily get mushy. I sometimes add veggies in season, such as eggplants, tomatos, zucchinis, mushrooms, and okras.
>>832 No problem, glad to help. I think that's a very good attitude to have. It's hard to improve if you're always second-guessing yourself. (that's been a big difficulty for me while speaking Japanese, actually)
>>830 I'm just curious, but what's the difference between "naganegi" and just "negi"? Is "negi" both "naganegi" and "tamanegi"?
>>832 "negi" is a generic term to indicate all sorts of "negi" vegetables, strong flavor, green top, white bottom.
It includes, for example, "naganegi", green onions, baby leeks, "Kujo negi (which is special kind of green onion found in Kyoto)", "Shimonita negi", etc..
I'd not say Tamanegi is a kind of "negi" because it does not have a green part but I am not sure that this is common.
>>839 Cool, thanks for the explanation! That's confused me for a while now. It's certainly easier to remember all those ingredients when they have the same root word. >>837 What did you need help with?
today, i also heard about korean() news that K-poop talent hit the pipe. and he said that he got drug by japanese he didnt know . it`s unbelievable story.
>>863 Just watch politicians of Democratic Party of Japan. They are willing to finance Korean Gov, now that the Korean currency is at a critical point. The current exchange rate's nearly 1200 won per one dollar now. I read on an online article that a Korean authority said Korea wanted to expand or extend what's called currency swap - a promise that Korea can draw dollars/Yen when they need to pay in such currencies. What a dope. They can't manage on their own.
I don't like chinese and korean. But I envy a little their vitality. Japanese are afraid of a mistake and avoid the adventure. And English is just tool. even if my english is bad, I dont care~
>>875 i think you confuse vitality with "kouganmuchi". mainly japanese is not afraid of any mistake, in particular the japense who is active in business,sport.artist.
I don't hate both Chinese and Korean. I just hate how they took our stuff away. Therefore I don't know where those countries are. Never cared those two. 石原慎太郎みたいに、メディアの裏や真実を暴露できる人が総理になればいいのにー
I have some Korean friends, they are nice. in my view, many Korean don't like Japan. Why the actor?singer? had to have his hair checked for the dope test? He got the dope from a Japanese guy on July? Then had the test on September? He knows the smell then smoked. If he didnt mean to smoke, he mustn't have known the smell. So He must be a junkie.
>>854 Ah..., I've heard the news. Hm, the news leaves me question. It's why he didn't notice the thing he smoked wasn't tabacco, drug. I do wonder that. If I were him, I would notice the uncom- fortable feeling when I smoke FIRST ONE tabacco. Factually, he smoked the drug three times. Woah, he knew it was drug?
Well, Japan has to take Kago-chan to his homecountry and make her "tester" for him not to do same thing.
USA/Canada 20 milion yen HAWAII 4 million yen Malaysia 5 million yen Hong Kong 10 million yen Mexico 4 million yen Taiwan 30 billion yen Thailand 16 million yen Singapore 11 million yen Indonesia 3 million yen Korea 740 southand yen
>>892 You know, /s/ and /th/ are different in English.
Plus, 1 billion = 10 oku. I don't know where you got the number, but Taiwan's donation is 300 million yen or 0.3 billion yen. I appreciate their help but you shouldn't make up things as Korean people do.
I don't like chinese but I try to go to China. The more strange china is, the more it make me want to go there. I would feel exotic than the other countries.
This is one of those things I never really understood as an outsider. What's up with the three way Japanese,Korean,Chinese hate triangle? (that's not a common phrase, I made it up)
>>904 Sinophobia and Korea-phobia (the last term is complete made-up) are not that strong in Japan.
Especially toward South Koreans. See this: http://www2.ttcn.ne.jp/honkawa/7900.html That's the proportion of japanese people who feel friendship/affinity to three countries, US, South Korea, and China. The black line in the middle is for South Korea.
When South Korea is under the autocratic regime, Japanese feeling toward ROK was not good (c.f. Kim Dae-jung Kidnapping in Tokyo). However, it's getting better after democratization in 1987.
As to China (the red line), the majority of Japanese people started hating them after several anti-Japanese protests were staged there.
We are on 2ch and that's the place where people freely express their xenophobia. So your impression might be exaggerated.
I don't know much about their feeling toward us. For China, it's manipulated by the PRC government, I guess. For South Korea, I understand that they hate us because of the colonization. Even though we did some good thing to them during the period, we can't say that they guys should thank us.
>>906 That's...kinda disturbing. Especially the "韓国の子供たちはこれらの絵を特段「過激」だとは認識していないようだ。" part. >>907 Thank you for the graph, that gives me a much better picture of how things are actually going. As you said, it's hard to get an accurate impression from the internet.
This actually reminds me a lot of the situation in the US now. Some black people have demanded reparations from the government because their ancestors were enslaved.
This is actually a kinda random subject change, but is there anything similar to the Amish people in Japan?
>>915 That's really unfortunate. I guess, I always try to judge people on an individual basis. Hating a whole country seems kinda strange to me. >>914 I agree to some extent. People who have committed atrocities should be denounced, even if they happen to be be from your own country. However, I feel like attributing a person's crimes to their countrymen or even their direct descendants, is what causes these sorts of atrocities in the first place.
>>913 there is no amish people in japan, or at least not as many as in the US. anti-technology seems not so strong in Japan. we love convenience and don't have religion which opposes to it.
>>922 it's really sad. his big ego has been changing the world a little bit.
apple has been releasing pretty amazing devises once a year or so. hope this could continue, but less likely if you know how sucky the company was before he got back to the CEO position.

>>940 Thanks for your reply. That's from Ladygaga's latest tweet.
http://twitpic.com/6vlci4 Philip Treacy in the photo is a designer (mainly of hat) Would you tell me what "have tea and hats with (somebody)" mean now that you know the context? Gaga is staying in London, UK, where drinking tea is common.
Also, would you tell me what does "Mint blond" mean? Mint(=kind of a herbal leaf) colored blonde?
>>941 Ahhh, okay, she's making a pun. "Tea and Crumpets" is something that Americans think of as quintessentially English. If an American ever pretends to be English (as a joke), they most likely will say something about "tea and crumpets". So she's changing the phrase to "tea and hats" to fit the situation.
If you look at the picture, her hair is slightly green (and mint is also green). She just made it up, so "lettuce blonde" or "Spinach blonde" would have worked too, but "mint blonde" has a nicer ring to it. We have some other phrases like that "strawberry blonde" "dirty blonde" etc.
>>947 Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. That's perfect. Thanks to you, I completely understand what she meant. Thanks a million!
How American look at British and how British look at America is something you need to know when you have to understand, say, joke etc. Your explanation was perfect!
The English Language hangs around in dark alleys and attacks passing languages, knocking them unconcious with a heavy list of special cases before digging through their pockets searching for loose vocabulary.
>>964 yeah! it is true. Almost japanese are liable to pull the carpet out from under each other's feet because they feel jealous of talent. Therefore, There is no good educationist and almost people want to be left alone in fuckin country! Fuck!
i just finished talking with iraq boy who are looking at japanese girl, through yahoo messanger. ihe said ,in future , he wanna get japanese girl and live in japan.
>>948 No problem, glad to help :) >>971 On that topic, did news about Troy Davis hit Japan at all? Or the west Memphis three? I'm also kinda curious if the news in Japan is covering the protests on Wall Street...
Sparky's lying. No way he's not interested in a cute girl like Ariel Rebel. He doesn't want everyone to think he has interest in a real girl, coz he's been saying he's asexual; in reality, he's esexual.
See? That's the typical reaction normal guys would make. Ariel don't have big tits, but nicely shaped ones with pink nipples you can't resist to say you want to lick. Her brunet hair draws her charmness all the more. Her ass is young and nice. Her pink pussy looks tight and yummy. Why would a healthy young man say he's not interested in her?
From iPhone4S, Softbank's exclusive distribution right is over and au, another carrier have right to sell it. Like AT&T's exclusive right is over and Verison and one more carrier handle the sale. They form a line to get a reservation ticket ahead of official release date of the new iPhone.
Many natives on Facebook. Some love Japanese. Send request with a nice message. They will accept it.
'I just finished talking to an Australian girl' Is correct. Don't ask me why it's not 'to talk to'. I can't explain it since I didn't study English at school.
