The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone.
The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,
the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.
The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl.
The great street of the city was of gold, as pure [ as transparent glass (is) ].
I did not see a temple in the city, [ because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple ].
The city does not need the sun or the moon [ to shine on it ],
for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.
On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.
The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.
Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone [ who does [ what is shameful or deceitful ] ],
but only those [ whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life ].

Luke 11
Jesus’ Teaching on Prayer

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. [ When he finished ], one of his disciples said to him,
“Lord, teach us [ to pray ], [ just as John taught his disciples ].”
He said to them, “[ When you pray ], say:
“‘Father,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone [ who sins against us ].
And lead us not into temptation.’”

Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose [ you have a friend ],
and you go to him at midnight and say,
‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; a friend of mine on a journey has come to me,
and I have no food [ to offer him ].’ And suppose the one inside answers,
‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed.
I can’t get up and give you anything.’
I tell you, [ even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship,
yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much [ as you need ].
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone [ who asks ] receives; the one [ who seeks ] finds;
and to the one [ who knocks ], the door will be opened.

“Which of you fathers, [ if your son asks for a fish ], will give him a snake instead?
Or [ if he asks for an egg ], will give him a scorpion?
[ If you then, [ though you are evil ], know [ how to give good gifts to your children ],
how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those [ who ask him ]!”

HOW GREAT THOU ART

O Lord my God, [ when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds [ thy hands have made ] ],
I see the stars, I hear the [ rolling ] thunder,
[ Thy power throughout the universe displayed ]:

Refrain
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!

[ When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear [ the birds sing sweetly in the trees ] ],
[ When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze ]:

Refrain

And [ when I think [ that God, his Son [ not sparing ],
Sent him [ to die ] ], I scarce can take it in,
[ That on the cross, [ my burden gladly bearing ],
He bled and died [ to take away my sin ]:

Refrain

[ When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home ], what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, 「My God, how great thou art!」
