Hey!!! you NEETs, nerds, YouTube-link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis, Yukorin enthusiasts, Nanako SOS admirers, Part-Time-Preachers, Diplomats' spoiled sons, losers who can't remember Kanji characters, Big-boobs fans, Weeaboos from all over the world, learners of Japanese who are too lazy to update their Japanese blogs very often, cunning linguists and stupid fan girls of Johnny's Boys. And let's hope the Internet-addicted housewife will come back soon!
but it seems neither peaceful revolution nor violent one will happen at least within a decade or more in Japan,I suppose. So I've decided to be a war-correspondent. It's more constructive rather than just wishing in this safe country.
It may happen shutting down trouble with an agency network and harrp network It will be occured disaster and obstacle please some opinion to this hotline department of defence
Anyone watchin soccer? A naturalized Korean scored a goal with a beutiful shot, making it Japan 1-0 Aus Koreans all over Japan must be shitting their pants with joy
Though, to be fair and precise, Nagatomo is the one who made that goal. Lee was completely free and if he missed that shot, he would ve recieved all kinds of words and names and forever be tormented. nevertheless, that was a beautiful volley.
Congratulations! We are the champion .... in the Asia! We will go to South America next summer to be invite the Copa America at Argentina! So, We will take part in it as the Asia champion!
Nagatomo and Kawashima touched my heart at the final. I think we might give the two players MOM.
MVP is Honda! Honda! Hoooooooonda! He was a driving force of Japan through the cup although he got a few goals. The second line, Kagawa-Honda-Okazaki, fascinated us as well.
>>45 Um... I wanna try it someday, but, looks like the girl is more tasty than the food to me. Let's just say it's Junk food version sushi. However, I might call it, "forced-fuck-sushi".
What in Andraste's name was this thread built for? You guys use it to keep watching me... Isn't it time for you guys to give up? I don't want it this way any longer... Please leave me alone...
>>42 A man wrote here before he loves his wife, and I chatted with him at the time. I thought he's the same person. And I'm a man and haven't touched woman's body for more than 5 years.
there was a guy who posted oyaji gag by british man in japan. was the joke about sottish, english, and irish men on an island also from british man in japan?
And I think some foreginers inspired by Japanese food tend to cook such food. Indeed, it's good that Japanese food are loved by even foreginers. But, I wonder why they cook stranger food than Japanese. Watch below the movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e85rD9xo4G0
>>58 Oh, you are the guy. Then, at least two men wrote here that they love their wives. I thought it's just you. Sorry to break your fantacy but I'm a man...
>>57 >the joke about sottish, english, and irish men on an island
I don't know about the joke. Anyway, I don't think he makes all the jokes on his own. I think he just introduces some of them to readers of his newsletter. To be presice, he releases three newsletters every week and two of them include some jokes. This weeks jokes include:
Q: How do you know which end is a worm's face? A: Tickle it and see which end laughs!
Q: Why was the math book so sad? A: Because it had so many problems!
Man: “Doctor, doctor, I forget everything I say immediately after saying it.” Doctor: “Really? And how long has this been going on?” Man: “How long has what been going on?”
Man: Doctor, doctor, I have a terrible pain in my left leg. Doctor: Don’t worry, it’s only old age. Man: It can’t be. My right leg’s the same age, and that doesn’t hurt.
>>71 These newsletters are for English learners including beginners so, complicated jokes that satisfy you native English speakers aren't suitable because chances are they would be hard to understand.
So he sticks to basic, easy and corny jokes. I find some of them corny but still I find some of them funny.
>>71 Your professor might say, "The Japanese have no sense of humor"... it is not true. The Japanese are joke-loving people, actually. Japanese society is full of stress, you know, so people are desperately wanting laugh to lessen tension.
>>74 I've seen enough anime to know that, hehe... But the style of comedy in Japan is very different, just like comedy in the US is different than British comedy.
Anyway, I'm sure you're all interested so I'll tell you all some of the things my professor teaches us about Japan. Then you can give your opinions. Class is every Wednesday.
Hi, my fellows〜 Azunyan here(´∀`) There is something I want to ask you "I've never understood why the Japanese get a nose bleed after seeing a sexy woman Why is that?" Some foriegner asked me that question But I don't know what to say(´・ω・`)
>>78 Blood vessels deep in nose is very weak and easy to break. When you get turned on or horny, your heart beat increases and your heart sent blood furiously, so the easy-to-break blood vesseles deep in nose break, hence, bleeding. But this is just a mistaken belief without no medical background.
it is unsettling that Kame is able to skilfully slice the arteries of his victi - fans. or even injecting them with bacteria causing a need for blood transfusion.
"To put female pantsu on or not - that is the critical point. And if you do, well then, welcome to Japan. You have clearly crossed the line to the point of no return." --名無しさん@英語勉強中

>>110 it's the current trend in japan now. which i think is pretty stupid. it's probably going to make them sound like a bunch of shitty chinese customer support and fail miserably.
Came back from a party and drank myself. I got so drunk right now. I am a college student, and my first class on monday is from 11am CT. I am not sure whether I can make it, but I should try. So I am going to bed now.
"The word chola according to the critics refers to Latina girls in gangs, Latinas from the barrio who have a certain look about them and conjure very negative stereotypes. "
Native English speakers, what does " have a certain look about them" mean in the sentence above? I understand vaguly but don't know exactly what it means. Thanks.
>>119 "Barrio" is Spanish for "neighbourhood", but in the US it refers to neighbourhoods of a predominantly Hispanic population. It is then fairly similar to a ghetto. The "certain look about them" describes their particular make-up and fashion.
No need to be shy speaking or writing English. Even an expert here used to be a beginner like you.
And I think the most important thing is what you say, meaning as long as your English is communicable, you don't have to be a good English speaker. >>89 You were once the Takoyaki-girl, right?
My English has improved thanks to "Speed Learning". My toeic score jumped significantly from 640 to 870. You had better make use of the program. Thank you.
Do you want to pass your TOEIC or EIKEN with flying colours?
Do you want to do better than all your friends?
Do you want to assure yourself a position in an English-speaking company?
Would you like to be able to communicate flawlessly with natives?
Well here's the solution!
Be a native speaker.
(side effects may include: inability to speak any other language, unwillingness to leave your home country, political conservatism, and imperialism in the name of democracy)
For Maker's breath, I can't believe you guys.. I've been asking you guys to stop watching me and it seemed you guys agreed on it, and still I find myself under some kind of surveillance. What in Andraste's name should I believe you guys excuses for? Please let me free... Please.. I'm just an ordinary person like yourselves as I said and that's never changed. You have to understand...
Kawaii or not, I dislike "LOL" and would rather use w. How you can relate wwww to being unrefined or coarse is beyond me. You are not talking about salt and pepper here.
Recently, It has been said that the world's de facto international language will be Mandarian. The number of English speaker and learner has declined, while more and more people put more priority on Chinese. Do you think that it is better for Japanese would-be junior high school students to switch their second language to Chinese??
Spring vacation of university is started from today. it's by 1 April. Anyway, I have a plan to try twitter because I've been interested in it lately. If I start it, I will tweet something for example my things including some thing I wrote on Owarai-Kobanashi board. Of course, I tweet in English too for foreign followers hardly under- stand Japanese. In Chatango (See:http://2chtenhou.chatango.com/), Mr.Nanashi and MrX told me "Let's do it now!". But, I still don't decide to start or not... What do you think?
Isn't it the same reason you guys can't stop watching me? Sure it doesn't cost any money to watch me, but that doesn't mean it's ok to keep doing that. Please understand....
Spring vacation of university is started from today?!? I envy you so much. If I were you, I would go to Europe and stay there for all the vacation. Thank you.
In Japan I've heard so many times people saying, When you can make a joke in English and people around you laugh at the joke, your English deserves first-rate. Right or wrong?
>>173 I think tha it is wrong, which is based on my own narrow experience, though. Telling jokes has nothing to do with what language you speak. It all dpends on whether you like making people laugh or not.
>>180 Are you a jani-ota overseas? Arashi fan or something? Typing email addy is never mandatory and it's rare to bother to type unless you are serious about exchanging email with someone you meet here.

Okay, now let me say what I noticed as a Japanese a while ago Foreginers want thumbs up on You Tube compared to Japanese people You rarely see the japanese comments which want thumbs up
Yes, you are right. I would, had I known more about computers. Anyway, that is also not my point here. The thing is, Sandybridge, also known as core i7 2600, has a big problem and Intel stopped producing it for a while till the problem's solved. As far as I know, it'll be in April when Intel starts selling the cpu.
Are you kidding me? Even now, I'm using windows 7 64 bit. Core i5 430 with no specific graphics card. I can't say my compy is good, but not so bad, I'd say. That said, it's a laptop. So I want to get a new desk top mini tower. It was supposed to be XPS 8300.
I had an interesting Japanese government class today. Maybe tomorrow I will share it with you all. I have to write an essay for it so your opinions could be helpful too.
>>219 You still stick to this board...OK. Then, I will stick to your boobs forever and ever. I'm a nipple sucker expert! Most of all men love boobs.(Even super intelligent Mr, nanashi confessed so.)
Well, I can predict your responce for this. You will say,"Sorry, I'm an Oyaji man".
But, even if so........you do have nipples, right?
>>243 OK, Mr.nanashi, I'll take care of it on the weekend.
http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/03_04/LindsayAnnPA_468x606.jpg Lindsay Ann Hawkerlooks attractive from japanese eyes. How would she be rated from (white) foreigners? Do you guys think she would be ranked within 5th in the class of twenty girls in the U.K or other western countries?
I can understand how イギリス人 hates ichihashi, an ugly spoiled wealthy son who thinks he is special.
I don't know why british girls are targeted by asian perverts in Japan. Flight attendant, Lucy Blackman was murdered by a korean. Yes, he also had a plastic surgery. He changed his name and had his eyes double-edged. Obara Joji 's joji can be expressed as George.
fuck the russian and south korean government they're planning to conquer japan's northern territories together now japan is bullied by fucking 4 countries china, south korea, north korea and fucking russia what the fuck are japanese government doing?
we don't know if Ichihashi is Korean decent. at least. he is a Japanese resident. his father was a medical doctor. his mother is a dentist who has own hospital. many korean became medical doctor in japan. becuase foreigner can be doctor. and payment is good. mother's hospital was created by her father. his father married with her by using her family name. so there is no his father's former info. what we can understand is his father was poor and powerless person. like a korean
I hope Ichihashi will be given death penalty. However, unfortunately killing only a person is not likely to be enogh for death penalty in Japan. I think Lindsay's father's wish is death penalyty too. Ironically British government abolished the death penalty and it won't give up its policy because the abolishment of death penaly is one condition for joining EU. I guess it's silly. I heard the recent public poll showed the majority of British people were considering restoration of the death penalty.
Is she petite? Are you implying her height or something? 5/10, tops. what doew it mean? Oh, I see. you me she is numer five out of ten. White people's standard is very high. I guess she can be queen in Japan. And she became in real life... Ugly ichihashi got very complexed about her and killed her at last.
I might be weird to say this but I don't know why the death penalty is illegal in EU countries. I know they try to enforce human rights, but keeping people in prison their entire lives is a waste of resources. It would make sense to have the death penalty, at least for cases where they are certain of a guilty verdict.
>>259 Don't they make something like furniture or train dogs or something while in jail?
I have seen furniture selling exhibition made by prisoners. They stay behind bar quite a long time so their skills are as good as pro. The price is low. As for dog training, I have watched a documentary TV show of America where they introduce a program in which prisoners train bad dog and get it back to the owners after the dogs become good dogs due to prisoners' traing to the dogs.
CPU : Pentium 4 @ 2.4GHz GPU : Geforce FX 5200 Memory : 768MB HDD : I have 4 internal hard drives that add up to 160GB Compact disk recorder HPv75 CRT monitor
HDD : I have 4 internal hard drives that add up to 160GB Isn't it small for otaku who loves collect many anime images and movies, including obscene ones?
I watched the movie, Wall street. I say opinion about the movie of course, instead of the detail. Shortly speaking, it was good. But I'm still wonder why Jacob(Shia LaBeouf) asked Gordon's daughter,Winny (Carey Mulligan) for a favor to marry him although he get the trouble his pre- sident of his workplace commited suicide, falling from that platform because of Bretton James. If I was him, I will never say that. Because I think I must not take my lover to the troble. Hey everyboby, do you can do same? and think love can beat any troubles?
This is story about my manager of my parttime workplace will retire in this month. A party for him will be held on someday. And the atmosphere"come on the party, all you guys!" comes in my workplace. However, I have so fuckin' mess in last year's Bounenkai(I wrote that didn't I?). So, I feel hard to go there...
By the way, I think capital punishment shouldn't be abolished forever. Because, for example, if you shoplifted something like snack and are caught by a clerk, you do nothing but return. But, in the case of you ate the thing, you can't return at all. So, you have to arrange for that. paying money.
Namely, murderers killed someone and can't return his life have to arrange for that, killing themslves by jail. Because they ate his life completely.
He's proud of Pentium 4 @ 2.4GHz. I think he can't open more than a window on his computer. Wonder if he can watch TV on it. I guess not. Hope he lives a happy Internet life.
I would never get a computer with Pentium4 inside. That's out of the question. Who wants to buy one? Too out-dated. I can't imagine I'm on the computer of such kind. He probably always feels irritated how slow his computer is. It's 2011!! No one's interested in Pentium4 any longer. Why's he proud of it? It sucks! Even Youtube isn't functioning properly on his computer. He should think of buying a new one.
Sparky's watching ME. He should let it free. It's just an old computer. Why does he stick to the notion that it's extraordinary good? Please understand...
This is news about my twitter. My followers are increasing because of atakowa. Atakowa is Japanese comic singer, Tatsuo Kamon's twitter. And I got to know half of his followers and アリ!(means very good! in his twitter) from him. I'm very glad. Thank you Mr.Kamon!
Sparky's computer is sodding horrible. 10 minutes to boost? Easily freeze? Can't do 2 things at once? Pentium4 is a laugh. 1 core 1 thread... Who'd want to buy that? My computer is far better than that pathetic old garbage.
CPU : Intel Core-i5 430M GPU : GeForce GT 230M 1GB and Intel HD graphics Memory : 4GB HDD : 640GB Blu-Ray drive 18.5 inch monitor (1920x1080p) It's a laptop.
He must've bought the computer last year. Hmm, it's not that bad compared to those computers that were sold 2 or more years back, but it's apparent it's not that good. Core i5/7 must be a better choice. Why did he choose core i3? It's only an entry model CPU.
Oh, that's a decent model. Guess you don't have trouble using the Internet, watching Blu-ray movies, and what not. Having said that, isn't it irritating when you play games and when you try to rip and burn blu-ray disks? Guess you want core-i7 860/870 or core i7 2600..
>>323 Actually I almost never use my blu-ray player lol. But this thing is surprisingly good at games, it plays Crysis quite nicely at medium-high settings, and Starcraft II at highest settings with no lag and at 1080p. I do watch 1080p movies on it though and it's gorgeous. Especially considering I can bring it with me anywhere.
>>320 18.5 inch monitor is quite large for a laptop, isn't it? My desktop (broke a month ago, about 4 years old) has a 19 inch monitor. Almost no difference even in size, and when it comes to other specs, it can't hold a candle to yours. Mind you, I'm using a laptop now. It's 15.6 inch (which I think is enough for me though).
>>259 On top of that, I think it is also a waste of time to throw people into jail for some petty crimes such as shoplifting. It costs a lot of tax payer's money to sustain criminal's life in jail and we will lose more money and goods anyway. I'm wondering putting tremendous fine or/and forced labor would be more effective for the prevention of crime and economy. In the end we can be richer for crimes. Life in prison is the worst idea for economy.
But >>270 made a point too. His idea is not what I had vever thoght of. But consdering profit and loss, loss would be much more.
I think some ex-prisoners could return more moeny after serving time than tax money he owed to Japanese people. But we need more statistics and think case by case. There are many people who won't work and come back to jail sooner or later.
Forced labor was the strong words. I am saying public works with lower wage than usual in their free time. Guaranteeing foods and transportation costs would be better option.
>>333 Rreally? HDTV attracts me almost for a year. Watching old drama, I feel discomfortable because of their unforcused-like images, though, in my memory, it looked beautiful like HDTV.
> CPU : Intel Core-i5 430M > GPU : GeForce GT 230M 1GB and Intel HD graphics > Memory : 4GB > HDD : 640GB > Blu-Ray drive > 18.5 inch monitor (1920x1080p) What are you doing with this laptop?
>>328 But if the state gains money by passing laws to make people criminals, there is an incentive to make more laws and criminalize more things.
>>337 It means to have control over everything. If you say "I will rule the world!" means that you plan to overthrow all governments and establish yourself as the only sovereign on the planet, ruling as an autocrat and bending everyone to your will.
>>347 Ask yourself whether you are kawaii, and if so, you will be able to get by in Japan. Please remember, kawaii is the keyword for that, not your majors.
How are you trying to improve your English? It's no fun talking to myself in English. There aren't any native speakers who are willing to talk to me with free of charge.
I attended an English Speaking Club the other day where people try to teach ourselves English. It was all right except there's no one who can tell certain expressions are really the way native speaker would use. I know if I pay, I can get lessons taught by native speakers but the problem is I'm not that rich. Could you please tell me how you have been trying to learn it on your own?
Hummm... I'm not sure if I understood you... I thought Panama is a country where there is that very famous canal? And they also speak Spanish?
I take that you don't know what daikon is. It's a vegetable which is a little bit like radish, but not round but looking like a baseball bat. When women's legs are not long and attractive but short, choppy, and unattractive, we say someone's legs are like daikon.
>>360 Great. If you have a bubbly and outgoing personality and beautiful legs, that will help you land a ソープランド job. Then you can live in akihabara, you name it!
☆ Driving through the countryside during an election campaign, a politician suddenly announced to his aides that he was going to throw a fifty-pound note out of the window and make someone happy. “Why not throw fifty one-pound notes out of the window and make fifty people happy?” suggested an aide. The driver turned around in his seat and said, “Why not throw yourself out of the window and make everybody happy?”
☆ While waiting for a discussion to start in the House of Lords, a young journalist turned to the man standing next to him and said, “Have you heard the joke about the Lord and the prostitute?” The man turned to him crossly and said, “Be careful, young man. I happen to be a member of the House of Lords. “Oh, don’t worry,” said the journalist, “I’ll tell it very slowly.”
☆ A bus load of politicians were driving down a country road when all of a sudden, the bus ran off the road and crashed into a tree in an old farmer's field. The old farmer, after seeing what happened, went over to investigate. He then proceeded to dig a hole and bury the politicians. A few days later, the local policeman came out, saw the crashed bus, and asked the farmer where all the politicians had gone. The old farmer said he had buried them. The policeman then asked the old farmer, "Were they all dead?" The old farmer replied, "Well, some of them said they weren't, but you know how politicians lie."
Well, I probably want to talk with someone in English. The person doesn't have to be a native speaker. Of course I prefer a native speaker but it is all right as long as we can talk...
You are asking me if I'm a bothersome person. I don't know what you mean by "bothersome." Not having anyone to talk to at the moment might suggest I may be what you call "bothersome," though.
in japan many businessman tend to go to sauna after their work. expose your genitals at a public bath is one of customs to make familiar each other. so shave your chin-chin might be a very polite manner in a sense.
chinko and chinchin have no great difference to me. I think chinchin rather has connotation of childishness. Like unchi sounds more childish than unko.
ochinchin (baby penis. they call it with love and tenderness) → chinko (child penis. it may smells of piss.) → chinpo (adult penis. sometimes it has erotic sense. it may same as prick) chinchin is used as any penis. it may same as cock.
>>415 Ichimotsu goes very well with fundoshi, sash surrounded around men's crotch. >>414 But children use chinpo too. >>416 You don't know? It's unthinkable that people who know the word don't know the meaning. The link below shows what it is. I alert you all guys in advance the link might offend you if you are not interested in kyokon. http://s153139690.websitehome.co.uk/big-cock1.jpg
>>419 Well, but pubic is the mound area above penis or cunt. O.K? Pubic area doesn't include balls(scrotum). In japan pubic hair is called chinge(hair of chinko). Chinko has more vague and wide meaning than penis. Chinko includes both penis and balls while Penis specifically indicates rod part in English. I think chinge describes the thing more accurately than pubic hair.
You might say pubic area is not exactly chinko. So chinge and pubic hair is correct theoretically?
I remember hair above penis growed sooner than hair of balls. But we call it chinge(hair of chinko). We can say the power of chinko growed chinge after all. So hair above penis is the realm of chinko, chinge.
>>433 Scrotal hair sounds technical. Ball hair or ballsack hair would probably be fine. Although, you don't want to say those except in extremely casual situations. Or "scrotal hair". Or really talking about the hair of your scrotum at all.
Hair of the balls definitely sounds funny lol.
Testicle hair would not work. That would mean that there's hair on your testicles, which there is not; the hair is on your scrotum.
Although, you don't want to say those except in extremely casual situations. Or "scrotal hair". Or really talking about the hair of your scrotum at all.
This part is difficult to understand , especially after the apperance of "Or".
チン毛chinge seems to be more common than chinge's counterpart ball hair ,checking these words in google image. Search words "ball hair" returns many unrelated images and we won't know what the original search words by only looking at the images. It seems that Japanese are more interested in hair than Americans. But we don't shave hair generally.
>>435 I mean to say don't talk about ball hair in formal environments.
"Ball hair" or "scrotal hair" are not commonly used words at all. More frequently "pubic hair" is used, but refers to everything. I guess we don't talk about ball hair very much.
More objective and nationalistic(patriotic) are compatible.
John Dower, American left wing scholar said on TV that Americans prefer to avoid using the word nationalism and prefer the word, patriotism instead. He said, hower, their daily attitudes are no other than nationalism or nationalistic. He said it would be strange thing with careful consideration that audience and base ball players have to stand up and listen to national anthem in every games. Americans take it as it is and consciously or unconsciously they avoid thinking about it. He said if japanese did the same thing, american would call Japan nationalistic and condemn Japan.
>>440 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TnL4eFdRvg&nofeather=True You can't agree on this song more, can you? There was another version with English lyrics. Can native speakers understand what the vocalist is saying almost for the frist time listening? Lyrics are filled with much information and the vocalist sing very quickly.
>>442 I don't know much about the matter, but speaking of text reform, it must be the reform of history text books. Right? As a conservative, I don't want to take sides with either of them. Most Japnese are(have been) what is called," usura sayoku(うすら左翼)" concerning their point of view. As a resultof that, when it comes to history text books, they have given birth to so-called "kinnrin syokoku jyoukou (近隣諸国条項)”
>>451 I don't understand what is funny about a soft bank's cm in which Darth Vader is doing strange things. For example, Vader sit around a bonfire in the CM. Aim of the CM producer seems to make Vader do daily things which is unlikely to happen in the movie series. All in all soft bank's CMs are annoying and not funny at all. I turn away my face when they are on TV.
>>442 The union is a criminal organization consisting of anti-japan traitors and psychopathic minions. This had to be stated because your classes probably don't teach about it.
I have a question about English. When we are on the train, we hear announce"the last station." I know "last" has two meanings. One is "just one before present", the other is "final". The announce I heard was "final station". How can we know the difference between when the station before a station at present and when the final station of the line?
SL (Steam Locomotive) runs across your terminal when you type "sl" as you meant to type "ls". It's just a joke command, and not usefull at all. Put the binary to /usr/local/bin.
>>473 Do you go to college? You said in a previous post you were studying computer science. I'm jelous of you. You study hard and hope for future while you kind of look crazy and idiot on this board.
You like to use "failed", don't you? Is it buzzword or computer geek word? I happend to see a slogan like "failed president(hu jin tao)" on a banner the the other day in the news.
>>461 "Final stop" always means the stop at the end of the line. "Last stop" could mean either of those meanings. But it's very unlikely that the conductor would refer to the stop before the current stop, and if he did, he would say "The last stop was..." so it would be obvious.
Is nanashi ◆NANaShiTfI is アメリカ人? アメリカ人 was a high school student and should be a college student in USC. I was absent from this thread for a while. So I am not on to new comers here.
When I was a child, I rarely saw foreigners, But today,I can see them here and there in my home towm. I hope they like Japan. So far, I've been spoken to by them twice. Both of them asked me the way to the station in akward Japanese. And I replied to them in akward English, instead. I managed to make myself understood and they said, " Thank you very much. your English is very good." I knew they flattered. But I was very glad to hear that!!!
>>461 If it is said in past tense "The last stop was X station", it means previous. If it is in present tense "The last stop is X station", it means the final stop.
I can't think of any context where that wouldn't hold true.
>>485 If I can understand what a person is saying I will say their English is good. Like I can say your English is good. However, I don't have to exaggerate that because your English is actually quite good.
Nooooooo!!!! You guys are starting to scare me again. Why not stop watching me? I don't deserve any attention from you guys. I'm just an ordinary person. No way am I an alien nor time traveler! If there's anything I can do for you to stop watching me. Please, please, ask me. I can help you to understand I'm really actually an ordinary person.... Please..
Don't tell me a person with the mind from the future still uses an old computer like this :

I'm getting so mad because my wife threw boiled vegetables into curry with large pot I made. And they were broken in the pot and the looking of curry became hell. I'm so sad she doesn't have good brain enough to forecast this.
To native speakes of English, what do they think of questions of entrance examinations of English which Japanese high school stundets take in entering colleges? Is that effective to value their English proficiency? I read an article about Japanese stundents are struggling with English, even if they were good at English at high school, so entered faculty of global liberal arts.
>>531 There are some who would say that speaking Japanese makes you think differently than someone who speaks English. Those people would be Japanese nationalists. Also, you know you don't have to separate clauses with brackets. Is that for practice or something? Or maybe to make your English easier to read?
a few days ago the UK prime minister david cameron did a speech in germany about islam problems. the speech was nothing special, but he spoke very slowly and clearly so the germans could understand and I think it is a good english listening material. you should watch it.
Your opinion about David Cameron's address while a meeting of EU countries is different from mine. Actually, his address arose various opinions in UK, offending Muslim people. He said UK had allowed too much multi-culturism. This should be modified in his big society and they go a head to build the identity as British, which was what he said. I think this is the right-wing opinion, against the wave of Briton having to be incorporated into EU. I don't know which is better, whether it go away from EU or it should make efforts to become a more integrated member of EU.
But, his right-wing opinion sounded very nationalistic.
I really hate him!!! He threw and broke the dryer because it's noisy for him. His personality is beyond my understanding, and he's violence,so I can't stand it any longer! I'll go my true home.
>>564 If you will remember, I uploaded an ASCII art of my penis a thread or two ago. But thank you for your response. I have an idea for a reward. I must figure out how to do it first. Which I might do.
I'd say about 5 characters because the computer often converts long phrases incorrectly, and correcting those mistakes tend to be more bothersome than converting at shorter intervals.
What's the best movie old/new, English/Japanese regardless, that you've ever seen? I'm thinking of renting out some DVDs this weekend, but can't think of anything interesting to watch, so I'd be really grateful for some recommendations.
I deserved a letter from TOEIC. It shows my score I took the exam on this January. That is 500. Listening is 275 and reading is 225. So 500. I think it is amazing on getting exactly 500.
>>579 The pronounciation is very precise and would easily pass as that of a native speaker. He almost falters here and there, but only ever so slightly that its probably indiscernible to an untrained ear.
>>608 As you wish: "TOFIC" -> "TOEIC" (I assume) "parctice" -> "practice" "In other word" -> "In other words" "great effort" -> "a great effort" (or better, a strong effort) "only entrance exam" -> "only the entrance exam" "been to abroad" -> "been abroad" "fruently" -> "fluently" "grammer" -> "grammar"
Anyway, what is considered a good score for the TOFIC?
"This is the meaty Part 2 of his post-release interview (click on “cc” at the bottom if you don’t see English subtitles, and they will appear)". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yW59LZsjE_g&p=A90B1900FE67C0F5 One of his strong message is:"This is not the time for everyone to settle the score" (=not the time for the people for making revenge each other) "But ..This is time to divide the CAKE" (=But it's the time for sharing our common good assets of Egypt/good future)
>>609 jusging from my two secondd reseach, 900, or around 910, is the line that separates the serious mammals from the rest of the zoo. i read some TOEFIC threads and it seems most people got 800-900 TAOIC points.
>>608 you must kidding. it is impossible to get 830 only studying to enter the university or college. you can enter almost every univeisity without listening skills or fast reading skills which is essential to toeic.
So Omar Sleiman has lost all his power as well as Mubarak? or is he retaining position..? it depends on the media Only AP and British press is confirming he lost his power. HOw come!
>>609 Probably 900. Less than that are used in many japanese companies as a cut-off for promotion or other purposes. The score seems to be minimum to work independently in companies operated in English.
>>637 The language spoken there sounds exactly like Japanese and most of it doesn't fit the situation. One example, as >>634 took it, says in English, like, "I got fucking cold". Another is like "Fucking hunt a raven! Sissors!!". And that's a soccer game. Very funny.
>>609 I found a table about TOEIC scores requested by major companies. From left to right, the columns indicate the scores for recruitment, promotion, and overseas assignment. Large trade farms ask 730 for overseas assignment. It's like a joke. With that score, they cannot do any kind of work without translators.
>>641 Language tests like TOEIC are pretty much worthless. I would go so far as to say that the main reason why most people in Korea and Japan suck so hard at English despite years of study is that they care so much about those kinds of tests, rather than about actually learning the freaking language and gaining access to the useful information available in it. I once sent a link to some online English test to a few British and American acquaintances of mine (all of them well-educated people who do things like composing music and writing computer programs for fun in their spare time). Every single one of them ended up scoring lower than I did. Does that mean my English is better than that of a well-educated native speaker? Of course not, it just means that I'm more familiar with the textbook English they use in those tests, which is basically a fantasy language that sounds absolutely ridiculous and has close to nothing to do with how people actually talk and write in real life.
>>650 I don't know. I've never taken the test. I took TOEFL CBT long time ago, and my score was 280. From the time my english skill has been improved a ton by living in the US. So, I cannot imagine that my score can be below 900.
>>659 I have 830 and able to work using English. I think TOEIC cannot indicate how good he makes communication in face to face. And...TOEIC has so long time that I can't continue to answer with high consentration.I often sleep during test.
Anyway, plz correct my grammar mistakes, not spelling mistakes.
>>659 Are you not a native speaker? Your English is absolutely perfect.
>>667 able to work -> am able to work how good he makes communication in face-to-face -> how well one communicates face-to-face has so long time -> takes so long answer with high consentration -> concentrate on the test during test -> during the test
Most high school kids cannot imagine what they can do with their language skills. I wonder what's the proportion of high school teachers who use english daily basis outside classroom. I suspect it's surprisingly low, and if that's the case, how could they tell their students the value of learning english.
>>676 probably your perception is correct, but that's not good for improving the level of english skills for japanese people. something has to be done, i think.
>>670 Thanks! No, I'm not. But I'm a huge nerd, and I like a lot of the stuff the Anglosphere produces (Hollywood movies, BBC documentaries, sci-fi novels, computer games, the way Americans write science&math books), so learning English was a very easy and painless process for me.
I'm sure you know what happened in Egypt. Do you think the same thing will happen in China? In my opinion, Chinese Communist Party would never hesitate to kill its people, considering Tianamen massacre. Plus, the Chinese army division, it seems, even isn't well under control according to the American media. That means the army wouldn't help Chinese people change its society. What's your take?
You guys should stop watching me.... Though I've asked you this many times in the past, you guys can't seem to agree to it... Why? I'm just an ordinary person. I'm not worth your attention... What makes you keep watching me like this? Stop it already...
>>680 Actually, I wouldn't say that I became good at English by "studying" it. I learned it by accident. Didn't even know that I was fluent until I started talking to people on English-language message boards.
Is it irritating to hear that one who is not good at English explains a difficult word, like "convince", using easy words, for example,"make you sure"? I often use "make" "let""have""enable"when I don't know how to say and I'm sometimes said it's too long and hard to hear.
>>691 Well, I never did claim to be Japanese. And Europeans who speak decent English aren't exactly a rarity. (curiously enough, not even in countries like Finland, where they speak a language that is completely unrelated to English) I have to say though, I've come across a few Japanese people who were much better at English than I am. I'm learning Japanese too. If you want to know how good (or bad) I am at it, here's a post I made some time ago on a related topic (the question was "how do you study languages"): 俺は日本語を母語としないドイツ人なので、今学習してるのは英語と日本語。 (数年前からスペイン語もやったが、興味ないと気付いてその言語を捨てたんだ)
Started studying in 2009, wrote this in 2010, after putting my studies on halt for a few months. Should be comprehendible, but perhaps some of the 日本人 on here can correct me if it contains any mistakes.
Someone in UK said about Al Jazeera's coverage of Egypt. I think it's a shrewd comment:
First someone asked: On why AJ's coverage of Egypt has been brilliant and the Beeb's crap.
..Then other one said: Yes AJs coverage was much better...but then it was better than anyone elses. The English language AJ has been almost a project in waiting to be made relevant...the Egyptian uprising is the sort of event it was created to cover...something that had yet to exist, a dream... and when it got the chance it rose to the occasion. I hope it gets a few similar occasions in the years to come.
>>698-699 To begin with, I've only saw the latest video, but on the scale of one to ten, I would give him 9. His choice of Japanese words is perfect, and that makes him quite fluent. I noticed he still has a little accent, but there's no problem about that. Rather, I wouldn't understand Japanese dialects. I mean to say his accent is more understandable.
I don't understand what you meant by the "how good are you" line. In the Japanese language itself, the answer would be yes, but if you meant "in the knowledge on the literature he explained in the video", it'd be no : I haven't heard of any of those books.
>>697 Ah you are German. That explains why your English is so good; from my experience Germans tend to speak English very very well (at least better than most Japanese people.) Regardless of that though, your Japanese is dubiously excellent for someone who only studied for 1 year. That, and I don't see how you could have learned things like Kanji using only Japanese-language dictionaries, as you say. You would need to be quite fluent in the spoken language before you could do that, don't you think? Besides, cold-turkey language studying without reference to a known language will only go so far (something I know from experience). Are you sure you're not embellishing yourself somewhat? I can't see how those study methods could possibly work without years of solid immersion (in the case of native speakers). I agree with your study methods but only as far as after becoming well-versed in the language beforehand.
Of course if you're a savant, that's another story.
Guys, I am a jap in the US who just came back from Japan last week. Since I am in a jet lag and couldn't sleep and that's why I started drinking to catch a sleep but obviously I got too drunk and am not quite sure that I can make the class on monday morning. You guys should pray for my waking up and going to class on time.
By the way, did you guys get valentines day chocolate today? When I stayed in Japan my mom gave me the first one for this year, and obviously that's gonna be the last, and I don't have any dinner or special event today with my yet-to-be-met girl friend.
>>719 "Jap" can be derogatory, because that is the term Americans used to call Japanese people during WWII. But if you are Japanese, I suppose there is no problem. To avoid a hangover I highly recommend drinking water.
(I'm yokoiri)..But when I was in US, I actually quite often felt like using 'JAP' as the abbreviation of our own natioality..because it's the most convenient way, despite its historical background of derogatory usage..
>>711 Those questions were for the German guy. His written Japanese is obviously excellent, so I wanted to know how good he is at speaking. By the way, what the fuck is the Maker. I don't want someone with such a lame pseudonym to smile upon me.
>>727 No, I'm not the stop-watching-me guy, though I kinda like his/her posts.
Immediately after making the post >>711, I went to bed. I somehow got up at eight and went to class. In the post, I deliberately used the word "jap" for self-degradation, because I felt devastated thanks to alcohol in my blood. If some non-japanese guy would use the word to me, I feel offended though.
>>728 Really? I lived in Australia for many years, but I only ever heard them use the word "Jap" in derogatory manners. In fact, I grew up amongst foreigners and English-speaking Japanese all my life (part-Japanese included) but never heard that word being used under normal circumstances, so I suggest it's a word that is better avoided in order to avoid any tension or misunderstanding.
There's no reason to use Jap at the risk of being politically incorrect, in my opinion. People can be judged by what kind of words to use. You might not want to use them if you didn't want to be misunderstood.
>>713 Thank you! >>725 I have a bit of an accent, and Roru's Japanese is probably much better than mine, but I honestly have no idea how good I am at speaking freely and holding conversations. I mainly care about being able to read. I was never interested in uploading youtube videos or doing skype conversations. And I've never had a face-to-face conversation in Japanese with anyone, except for like 3 sentences I exchanged with another German 日本語学習者 I met on the bus. It feels like half of Beijing studies at my university, but seemingly no Japanese people. >>715 >learned things like Kanji using only Japanese-language dictionaries I didn't do that, and didn't mean to claim that I did. I consider them a different beast from Japanese itself. I mean, we could be writing English in those characters. "I was 歩ing down the 道 when..." Avoiding bilingual dictionaries is what I'm doing now, during what I referred to as the 本番 of my studies. Before that, I studied glorious 漢字 and nothing else, just as I said. I mostly used English-language resources. I also review them on a more or less regular basis by writing them out, although I didn't for most of 2010. Regrettably, I initially also learned ひらがな using western tutorials that taught them using Hepburn-conversion into Latin characters, and I'd say I'm still paying for it. If I hadn't made that mistake, I'm sure my pronunciation would be better than it is... I tell you, the road to failure at Japanese is plastered with romaji. >cold-turkey language studying without reference to a known >language will only go so far Then what language did you refer to when you were learning English?
>>746 Ah, English resources are the way to go for the beginning of studies. I also agree entirely though that having romaji there is setting you up for pain and suffering once that romaji goes away ("oh noes where iz mah romaji??!!") in my opinion though, learning the hiragana/katakana with romaji is an arseload easier, but presuming one keeps in mind that "ra" and "fu" are certainly not pronounced like English "ra" and "fu". It's Japanese, not English (and I see way too many people not understand that). >Then what language did you refer to when you were learning English? >>715 >...years of solid immersion... Learning a language at a very young age is dramatically easier, even (or perhaps especially) without a reference language. It's known in linguistics as the "critical period".
Hey Japanese people, I have a question. What accent does this guy have who appears at 1:10? His name is Mahiwa Shuu (真日和 秀). I obviously don't know Japanese well enough to tell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwcsspU1J2Q
>>760 Someone I know is a huge HSV fan, so I used to hear a lot about Takahara
>>752 >learning the hiragana/katakana with romaji is an arseload easier maybe, but you end up learning them wrong, so what's the point?
The dangerous thing is that it seems like a great crutch you can use until you can walk on your own. Only later you notice that in reality, you chopped off your own legs and replaced them with dildos.
>but presuming one keeps in mind that "ra" and >"fu" are certainly not pronounced like English "ra" and "fu". I actually think those two examples are not even a big problem, due to being so obvious. There's much more subtle stuff like う usually not being a U, ん not often being actually pronounced as N or M, or words like うちゅう often having a faint Y sound that gets lost when you write it as uchuu or whatever (took me like a dozen JAXA videos to notice this).
And then the things that could be more or less fixed by simply using a better romanization system, but confused the hell out of me when I first tried to correlate spoken Japanese to its written form. Like し regularly dropping the i part (e.g. in front of a か行 syllable), even in relatively formal speech.
>It's known in linguistics as the "critical period". I know, people involved in formal language education often use this as an excuse for why their students never end up getting good at the language, especially not in an acceptable timeframe.
All Pantsu All The Time. Folks, that's the key to all the doors ahead. In English, Japanese, German or whatever language, total immersion in pantsu anime is gonna make you look (or sound, precisely speaking) like the real hentai gentleman that you undoubtedly are!
>>769 I posted the video because I was interested in Japanese dialects. But I do occasionally watch anime. It's terrific Japanese listening practice. >>770 I really think it in large part depends on if you have an ear for languages. Some people could live in Japan for decades and never pronounce うちゅう or しゅくだい correctly. Some people can hear it a few times and infer the pronunciation rule and have a great accent. People tell me I fall in the latter. I'm almost concerned that if I sound too fluent in Japan people will assume I know more Japanese than I do. >>773 I think learning English with katakana is much worse, because English has a much larger variety of sounds. Every sound in Japanese (except ふ and ら・り・る・れ・ろ) exist in English in some form.
>>779 ラ行 is like between L and R. In L, you straighten up your tongue and push it forward until it touches the back of your front teeth, but in ラ行 sound, your tongue is mildly bent and touches higher point of the roof of the mouth than L. In R, you bents your tongue and push upward but it never touches the roof.
(Since I am not a native English speaker, my explanation might be a bit confusing.)
>>774 I just watched the video Nanashi posted in >>767 and there were 2 or 3 things I didn't understand. Couldn't catch everything the blond guy said around 3:45 and didn't know the word いけにえ. And one thing Mahiwa said that I wouldn't be able to give you a transcript of, but got the general meaning.
It used to be the other way around, I remember watching a 2 hour movie and only understanding like 5 different words throughout the whole thing.
When available, I turn Japanese subtitles on.
I'm only used to the kind of Japanese you hear on TV though. When I watch home-made videos or streams, I tend to understand a lot less because people speak much more quickly and swallow a lot of sounds.
>>784 Boy I wish more things had Japanese subtitles, but I almost never see them. Personally I find anime a lot easier to understand than things like news, probably because they talk slower and more deliberately. Also I find women easier to understand than men, in part because they use more polite form.
You must have led a hard life as a gay in America. I feel sorry for you. Though I'm no gay at all, I hope the day will come when you can walk outside wearing a pink skirt.
For starter, why don't you try coming out? I promise I will never make fun of you. It'd take lots of courage to do so, but I'm on your side. Go public, Spark. It's the first step in the right direction.
>>793 I'm sure all he needs is a little encouragement. We should back him up and help him free himself from the situation he's in now. He should trust in us. I'm positive his heart will be so full it'd burst after he reads us. :)
I'm going to America next week. So I've been making various reservations. Then I found the frequency of trains very low, for example amtrak between Vancouver and Seattle has only one train in the morning. Don't people in America think that's unconvenient to move? Or am I wrong?
>>809 The American public transportation system is nothing compared to Japan's. Don't expect the trains to be anything like those in Japan. It seriously needs improvement.
>>812, >>813 I agree it's been around for a long time, but I don't think it was as prevalent as it's become over this past decade or so. And yes, I find it rude and annoying because these younsters often make the mistake of using it in situations which demand proper keigo.
I guess っす is not a matter of young or old. I guess we can trace back the usage of っす to decades decades ago. I'm not young but I know this usage. I guess っす sounds rather sports-oriented. ssu is often used between senpai seniors and kouhai juniors and it has a effect of watering down strict atomosphere. desu sometimes sounds cold and too formal.
Ofcourse if you use ssu in front of CEO or Principal, you are too frendly(buddy buddy?) to them.
>>819 Agreed The problem is, many people have started using っす outside of senpai-kouhai relationships in recent years. I get that from shop assistants sometimes and it's hella annoying.
>>809 >america >trains No one really does that anymore here in Merka. Driving a car that seats 16 and gets 5km/L is a status symbol, so other infrastructure, such as railroad, and services, trains are ignored and seen as obsolete.
Don't expect your train ride to be anything like what you would get elsewhere.
>>814 I really do understand why you say so. You seem quite shaken to know you like both cute boys & macho men. Don't worry, Spark. It's quite natural you have various orientations. I would approve of them. Sometime you want to go on a date with a cute boy, and some other time you prefer to let a macho man take you everywhere he want to go. BTW, same sex marriage is legal where you are, Spark?
>>826 >I ride my bike Are you implying that you dig on a boy? You already had your boyfriend. How is it like when you ride your bike, Spark? Comfortable? (Don't say you come. ^^)
I'm an early bird...;-) this morning. Actually, last night I began to sleep and waked up at 3:00 AM.
Why do the Japanese people like English? Average people never use English every day, don't they? Though I had been working for a foreign pharmaceutical company for a few years, what I saw my Japanese colleagues working midnight and in Sunday and holiday.
Is that a fun? I don't think that to be sustanable for ever, actually office workers are disposable.
I understand how much harassed you will be if you say you are gay in public. Don't worry, Spark. You are not a gay. You just like cute boys and macho men. That's all. No problem here, right?
>>810,824 Thanks! I understood what trains in America is. I think American government should improve their infrustructures for convenience and environment.
Imagine there's no gay It's easy if you try No bra below Spark Above him only skirt Imagine all the macho men Living for today
Imagine there's no ME It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no Pentium4 too Imagine all the PCs Living life in peace
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one
Imagine no louisiana I wonder if you can No need for same sex marriage or gay orientation A brotherhood of macho man Imagine all the people Sharing all the pink bras
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will live as one
>>838 I agree, I would love to have trains. It would be so damn wonderful if we could link all of our cities together, rather than dealing with all the stupid fucks who want to drive different speeds than me on the god damn interstate..... I digress.
I doubt it will happen (like, ever) trains are seen as uncool.
me-tan is absolutely Japanese. Here is a typical U.S girl http://www.anorak.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/pamela_anderson-peta-leather.jpg which Americans would prefer. What's good about her. I didn't know about me-tan before. But she is better. She kind of looks like old manga character, like nanako mentioned in the >>1.
I've been keeping track of this thread for a while and I know you are regular, but I do not know much about you. Do you mind if I ask your location or your nationality?
http://www.blueocean.bz/worm/home/cover_image/4150307962 I searched nanako on google. I am surprised to see nanako wearing loose socks. Loose Socks will become prevalent after more than one decade. Nanako Sos was ahead of the time. How visionary the author of Nanako Sos was!
I don't like loose socks personally. Loose socks and sun-tunned face will not turn on me. They ruin youth.
>>859 You know gauguro? wwwww gauguro and loose socks were a pair.
Japanese trend is becoming more and more conservative. kawaii style is more popular now. It's like a throwback. Still mini-skirt is popular, which was not as seen in 80's and 90's as now.
Look at AKB 48. They were kind of throw back of onyanko club.
I don't like AKB48. But they are much better than gauguro kogyaru. I have to admit.
イギリス人 is married to russian angel with big boobs, then he chaged into under anonimity? >>882 reminds me of his wording on this board. Like "I cannot really tell, you know.... "
As for the preference of boobs, How about katy perry?
Katy Perry is not known here in Japan. She is not Japanese taste.
Why do american women has to be like both manly and lesbian with fake boobs? crazy. Lady GaGA is also annoying too. Her music is not bad. All the more her attention whore approach is annoying. Why can't she sing and dance normally?
Jews are behind the wave of deifying perverts like homo, transgender and interracial sex offender. They are trying to destroy white people's ethics and dignity. So far they have succeeded a lot. Stand up, white men! Arm yourself!
>>908 Some lyrics poped up in my mind because of what you wrote but I was not sure what it was. I searched your words. Lyrics of living on prayer by Bon Jovi came on the screen. "I play my part and you play your game ... You Give Love A Bad Name " ummmmmm it's not. Suddenly I remembered.
But now I know you play a different game I've watched you dance with danger, still wanting more Add another number to the score
When you look around you wonder Do you play to win? Or are you just a bad loser?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik2YF05iX2w I want to be abused by a girl like her. Even though this song is not my favorite, lyrics and the music video are good. Pet Shop Boys well expressed twisted feelings for loved one. Desire to dominate and be dominated, desire to be abandoned, anger, jealousy, disgusted, and revenge. Is she your wife? I feel really jealous and angry with you... She was confirmed to be working at a grand hotel clerk, 5 or so years ago.
Pet Shop Boys are gay. Why do they understand subtle feelings of straight boy in adolescence time?
I assumed that I've watched you dance with "strangers", still wanting more Add another number to the score. Strangers is Danger instead. That was my listening mistake and delusion. I guess danger can be replaced by stranger and almost means the same though.
>>923 Hello and welcome. Your English was pretty good. Let's see... interigent -> intelligent undestand -> understand ress?
Practice is good. Read other people's posts, and you will learn to recognise correct English from incorrect English. 練習は大切ですよ。このスレにポストを読めば、あなたは正しい英語を認識してできるね。
>>923 Hi, boy. I had same idea to English when I was a juniorhigh school student and learned the language for the first time. And I struggled to remember English grammer and increase English vocabrary, of course I am and I will. Please keep this in your mind. Learning English or other for- eign languages has so many problems such as grammer and pronunciation. I'm confronted with the wall so many times too. But, you can break it too, I do think.
(continuing of >>939) By the way, I think the best way to learn English is listening to Enlish music and watch movies. That's so simple. Just enjoy studying English and don't think it is as studying, while you take the best way.
>>941 OK. I tell you the reason. As I see >>923's post, I think he has motivation to studying English and doesn't still surrender like some people hating to study English. So, I said that in >>939. Do you see all?
