Hey!!! you NEETs, nerds, YouTube-link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis,
Yukorin enthusiasts, Nanako SOS admirers, Part-Time-Preachers,
Diplomats' spoiled sons, losers who can't remember Kanji characters,
Big-boobs fans, Weeaboos from all over the world, learners of Japanese
who are too lazy to update their Japanese blogs very often, and cunning
linguists. And let's hope the Internet-addicted housewife will come back soon!

Here is the place to have a ball!!!!!

I think that there is a lie in Oshio's testimony considerably.

I thought that I was regulated since Oshio's affair was written.

He's a drug user. Most people wouldn't take him seriously.
That said, it'd be a different story how to deal with such a guy.

Anyway, part of what's good about this is that we can learn about what happened when
she died.
So Ozaa san's case should be brought to court so that we will know what he did - did he
try to hide what he did, making false documents and something like that. More inportantly,
we can make judgement on whether or not Ozawa Ichiro is worth a politician.

The news says it seems Kan will win in party vote.
I'm dubious Kan will continue to be the party head.
Ozaa san will do anything to keep his political life long enough to destroy Japan.

I don't think so. The analysis news agencies conducted isn't reliable.
Remember what they said concerning the election 2months ago. They thought
the Democratic Party would win, and the result?
Ozaa san will do anything to win. He would blackmail voters.

I don't like Ozawa, nor Kan.

53名無しさん@英語勉強中:2010/09/10(金) 02:50:29
Japanese English learners including me make a lot of mistakes when they
write English. So the answer to your question is NO.

But no one can improve their English without making mistakes. My obserrvation is that Japanese
English learners are not accustomed to write English while they spend more time on reading.

So this thread is a good place to try writing English. Just jump in without being afraid of making mistakes.
It's hard to distinguish(it's almost impossible to distingusih unless you are an exteremely advanced
English learner)but some people here a native English speakers, so their English is natural,I think.

rumor? its more clear than it. Oshio is 3rd generation of korean who lives in Japan.
where he got the drug from was korean yakuza. a tool musician cant buy such big amount of drug.
yakuza own japanese TV society. there are many korean who most japanese doesnt realize.
just like Sakai Noriko's father was former korean. her father is head of one of yakuza company.
her brother was arrested because drug trade. her uncle is in jail now because murder.

To English speaking people here who have no clues.

You (and us in Japan)experienced access denial some days ago.
You may have noticed it but the threads in English board is far less in number
than before even after English board can be browsed.

As you can see URL includes "kamome" and as far as I know, Some 2chan boards ingluding English
board that run on "kamome" server all experienced the same thing.
This didn't happen to the other boards that doen't run on "Kamome" server.

This accident was caused by human error and all threads on Kagome server are gone.
The threads you can read now was all made after this accident.
Hence, posts in each thread now isn't many.

Anyway it's not sure all the threads and posts before can be restored
althuogh it's said they'll try to do so. It's said it will take at least 10 days or so even
if they'll succeed.

I'm not good at explaining things in English. Plus, I don't know much
about technological side of Internet or servers etc. But I hope this post

Speaking of air conditioner, there was one thing that I was surprised by.
That is intense power of heater that European car equipped with.

I owned the car made in Germany few years ago.
During summer time in Japan, as often said at those days, cooling power of the air conditioner was slightly poor,
on the other hand heater was absolutely strong.
In spite of winter time, that was hot to death.

As you can see, Euro countries are located in more northern side than Japan.
They say that if the heater break down in winter time, that endanger their lives.

so those car have two control lines of heater in preparation for breakdown.

That is quite amazing, isn't it?

Even though the average daytime temperature was soaring just two weeks
ago in Moscow, the temperature is now lower than in the UK. Last year's
winter was one of the worst they've ever had, plummeting to around -35ºC
on some days. The difference between peak summer and peak winter temperatures
is almost 100º. Thankfully in the UK, we're used to warmer winters and
cooler summers.

Though air conditioning is a rarity, most houses have a central heating system
consisting of a boiler (usually in or near the kitchen), a thermostat, and several
radiators. Some houses have gas fires installed in place of a traditional fireplace
(some law to do with not being allowed to emit smoke from chimneys at certain times,
or something). And some people buy halogen or other electric heaters in case of a
colder-than-usual spell of weather. Most modern houses here have double walls,
meaning that cavity-wall insulation is normal too, trapping extra heat during the
winter and keeping it cool during the summer.

In general, what you said is true of all of imported cars.

Regarding maintenance cost, German cars are not especially expensive unless you meet with unusual malfunction.
Ordinary maintenance cost is as same as Japanese cars.
But the problem is that German cars are more likely to get those problems than Japanese cars.
In that case, the repairing cost tends to quite expensive.
Believe it or not, you can easily get Japanese A-segment car by repairing cost.

The largest it can be bought here, is in 500ml (0.88 pints) tubs. If you
consider 6.82 of these as 6 pints, they cost £4 per tub. This would total

comparatively cheap here, so I'm guessing I messed up the calculation
somewhere.

It's still unsure whether the change is natural or not. Even though it's
been several years, it's still just a very short spike when compared to
the total amount of time the planet has been around. Still, there is change.
The weather is changing the route of the Gulf Stream, a warm Atlantic current
that passes by the UK, and this has a direct affect on British weather. We
had our coldest recorded winter last year, which threw the country into chaos.

In Japan, what is generally called ice cream is classified into several category by a certain ministry.
They distinguish ice cream on a included butterfat and some conditions bases.
Unfortunately, many ice creams that we can usually see at grocery store is not classified as ice cream technically.

Those ice creams are called "rakuto ice". I don't know how to spell this word in English.
But I guess, this word maybe derive from Latin.

On this point, Haagen Dazs is truly ice cream.
The difference in those ice creams are relatively distinguishable unless you have dull sense of taste.

Haagen Dazs is too expensive to buy daily?
If you think so, I recommend you "Pino". URL is as follows.
http://www.pinoice.com/

Pino is ice cream as well as Haagen Dazs and is sold for about a hundred yen at grocery store.
If you come across a sale price at grocery store, you can buy it for under ninety yen.

being derived from Latin 'lac', which means milk (but not necessarily cream).

Are you Kame fan girl?

How can Japanese have green-yellow eyes.
We have dark, dark brown, brown eyes but it's impossible to have
such color in our/Asian eyes unless they wear color contact lenses.

Maybe you watched the sun directly for quite a long time and your sense of
color recognition went numb at that time.

You should take an action so that you won't regret later.

Ozawa is half korean. or pure korean. at least he is not pure Japanese.
he and Hatoyama made DPJ. Hatoyama's wife was born in China. and All his secretary are korean.
Ozawa's secretarys are korean too. 30% of DPJ menber are korean. except korean who got japanese citizenship.
korean residents can not be a politican of Japan. but they can participate to DPJ.
majority of the politician whom Ozawa made is Korean or Chinese.
for example. Yamaoka is pure Korean. vice minister of agriculture Yamada is former Chinese.
Yamada own his farm. he has a plan to grow chinese cow in Japan.
but Japan couldnt import chinese cow because of foot-and-mouth disease in China.
but somehow. its a big COINCEDENCE. foot-and-mouth disease was generated in Japan.
at the same time as his assuming the position of the minister.

Oshio is famouse for his words.
He was trying to look himself bigger and more important than her actually is.
When 2channelers listened to his words like those, they went like, who
does he think he is!? He sure is good looking and was a popular to a certain
extent among girls, starring a drama, releasing CDs and all that but his words
are kind of funny because he thinks he's a star himeself or hero or something.

As you know 2channelers are very good at making fun of celebrities under the
umbrella of anonymity so Oshio became a target of 2channelers' teasing.
Some of his words are what he really said in the past but some were
fabricated by 2channelers to make fun of him, just for lolz.
I, and I believe most of 2channnelers, too, don't know which words he
actually said in the past.

You can imagine how 2channnelers got excited about the news of his arrest on the
charge of drug possesion or use or something. He gave a pill to a woman before sex
and she died becasue of the illegal drug. After his arrest and over the course of the investifation,
it turned out that he is just a coward man, trying to pass the back of
his criminal act to his manager in his talent afency tring to escape from
criminal charges. His arrest and the way he put a crime on the innocent manager of his
provided another lol for 2channelers.

Some of his words indicated as if he was a man in a million
a real man or whatever but every bofy has gotten to know he is just a chicken.
That provide more lolz to 2channelers.

I have no idea about Tegomasu at all since I'm not into music

Just what I know is OTAKU girls like Japanese misic and idols
through anime and manga. I have seen those fan girls on English
websites which related to Japanese culture.

If I visited music websites, maybe I could see their popularity
among hard core music fans in Europe if they are really popular.

>>Because women with dignity don't do one night stand in the first place.
DO they? A woman with no dignity can be an easy woman. Men think with their penis not with their brain, as as long as a woman
(like the woman in the vid) has nice body and attractive, it's more than
welcome to sleep with her. Dignity in woman doesn't come at the top of the list when it comes to
one night stand.
>>
So men are born to spread their genes, while women are supposed to choose the best genetic material.
What if the best genetic material is available only for a short while and she is trying to get pregnant?
Let us say there is a woman of dignity, and she knows that a prticular male would be the best gene donor,
what should she do? Should he follow your socially enforced and obviously wrong concept of "dignity"
and stay away? Or should she follow her instinct, reproduce and take responsibility of the consequences?
You are confusing women who are after material gain with women after genetic gain in your argument.
Since you have not considered this angle, your argument is clearly lacking and extremely biased.
Open your mind and think deeper please.

We have to more worry about Chinese people would start to attack
Japanese people in mainland China because of what happend last week.
They are being so hostile to us while Chinese people in Japan
are much safer and we are not hostile to them.

I think it's not fair that whenever Chainese people attack Japanese
people they call it patriotism and anything is forgiven among them
while when they are attacked by Japanese (we don't attack them in Japan
often like they attack Japanese in their country though) they call it
discrimination or imperialism. And doing such a thing is never

I like a lot of stuffs in japan, food, culture, etc..

I've watched 3movies lately.
First, "Split the difference" is documentary film of Mr,Children, one of Japanese popular
and famous rock bands. The movie was so good for freaks(including me) of them. In espe-
cially, the scene that JEN who is drumer of the band stamping rapidly was interesting.
And I was pleased with getting an invitation card given all guests came to The Globe Tokyo
where was held the concert, Split the difference.

But, the second movie I watched was so crap and made me angry... It was "BECK".
The movie is based on the comics by the manga artist, Harold Sakuishi. And the cast
was so luxurious. Hiro Mizushima, Takeru Sato, Kenta Kiritani, Osamu Mukai etc.
But, all I wanna emphasize is "Why didn't you depend on Sato?" namely, I wanna know
why Sato's vocal wasn't audible in the scenes of that BECK plays on the stage.
All though Sato was trained hard by Kutsuna before they play on the Greatful Sound's stage,
his vocal wasn't audible after all ... huh? So, the movie was so crap, if you wanna watch it,
I do wanna recommend to you not to watch it in theater and wait for being released it as
DVD or Blu-ray.

Finally, it was "Akunin" including Satoshi Tsumabuki, Eri Fukatsu who has got a best actress
award at the 2010 Montreal World Film Festival lately. What great their performance were!
When the movie came to the end, I near cried for a long time. I do wanna recommend to everybody!
(By the way, how many people including me remember the contes of "Baka-tono" or "Daijyobuda"
with Ken Shimura and couldn't stop chuckling when saw Akira Emoto?)

Oshio got a judgement of the term in prison of 2 years and 6 months, didn't he?
His insistence about who gave her a drug was not approved, but the relation of his not
having called an ambulance soon and the possibility that the dead would not have needed to be killed
if he did so, was considered too weak for what he did being judged as the cause of her death.
Isn't any possibility that prosecutors would file an appeal to the upper court, preparing for enough proofs
supporting their insistence?

Is Akunin out on DVD yet, or only at theatres?

On an unrelated note, there's a good Russian author called Boris Akunin who
writes detective novels which are set in the mid 1800's, mainly in Russia.
At one point in the series, the detective becomes a diplomat and travels to Japan,
where he masters the art of jūjutsu. It can be a bit whimsical at times, but is a
good series.

I'm back in Starbucks again :)
No, I'm not teaching a class now. I have taught and will teach in future. I am a posdoc.

I usually don't observe people here. But, if I pick up some differences b/w Japan and the US.
1. average age of customers is higher. many of them are studying or working, though today is a bit different, cause it's saturday.
2. Most ladies who drink big, sweet drinks are fat.
3. They don't have "short" size coffee. 3 sizes are tall, grande, and venti.

As to my workplace, I probably do not have a chance to get a job at top schools,
the realistic chance will be top 30-50 schools. I don't even want to be at top schools
(e.g. IVY schools or good schools in the West Coast). Assistant profs there are
under huge pressure for doing good research, and do not have any personal life.
If you are super crazy about doing research then that's probably the happiest choice,
but it's not the case for me. After many years for devoting my life to studying and
researching, I am little tired of it. Research is still interesting, but I want to have
appropriate work-like balance.

Did you google enough searching for the site?

Yes, I have heard of naked news and actually watched demos on the site before.

I think there is a male version of naked news for gays or women.
Oh, and I think there's a Japanese women version, too. I don't know if
they do Japanese version now.

I remeber I was kind of imressed with the women in Naked news not because of
their bodies but their narration. They speak real fast withour being distracted by
having to taking off their clothes one by one.

I guess Kame fan girl would say the they have no dignity with them and I agree with

I am a post doctoral researcher,
sometimes teachings is a part of my duty but not for this semester.

I saw someone using iPad at the coffeeshop I was at.
None of my colleagues has one either, though some of them have Amazon kindle.
As a reading devise, it's much better.
iPhone is way much popular though I don't have one. I just have iTouch.
I want to own an iPhone, but I am not sure that I want to have
that two-years contract. It's little too long considering my unstable
employment situation. I don't think I would be out of money next year,
but the chance I'm out of the US is not small.

The reason why I am in the US is because the style of research here is
much different from Japan. They use statistics heavily and that's the type of
research I want to conduct.

How bout you? Why are you studying English while you are in Japan?

>>704
So obviously I have never had a private/public sector job.
A post-doc is a full-time job though.
(One good thing about being in the US is they do not have a concept of "社会人".
Accusing a person using such a loosely defined term is always annoying.)

Ok, it looks like I will never find the answer to my question;

Is the low birth rate due to males' cold attitude towards others?

This question is too advanced for the level of this thread it seems.

In that case here comes the next set of questions...

759名無しさん@英語勉強中:2010/09/20(月) 05:10:07
According to Kame girl, Kame has inferiority complex.
760名無しさん@英語勉強中:2010/09/20(月) 05:13:47
Discuss please;

Who invented the term "weeaboo" and why?
Why would someone be automatically classified as a weeaboo if that person watches anime,
eats natto or speaks Japanese?
What is the equivalent term for those who adopt various aspects of other cultures; for instance;

If you are fond of Muumins, love the smoke sauna and Karjalaan Piirakka, would you be a Finnish Finnaboo?
If you are fond of Tarkovsky, Rachmaninov and quote Tolstoy all the time are you a Russiaboo?
If you are into boomerangs, barbies and Surfing and obssessed about Sydney subcultures are you an Austraboo?
If you are into KPOP, Kdrama, kimchi are you an Koreaboo?

What is (1) wee (2)Boo, where do these come from, when they are put together
what do they really mean in ENglish?

See, the assumptions on which you build your hatred of people adopting global subcultures gets really absurd at this point.

If someone loves my own culture with this obsession, I would welcome them and learn with them, things I take for granted, even if they get it wrong.

If I hate the people who love my culture, it means I don't think highly of my culture and have an inferiority complex.
Therefore I hypothosise that the term weaboo was invented by Americans who have Japanophobia.
Somehow Japan's dislike for foreigners (whihc is equally understandable)seem to intersect
with this group's views, hence the enourmous hatred for the people who "fall" into this category.
What do you think?
Is this yet another taboo subject?

The word comes from a nonsense comic, which can be seen at...
http://www.pbfcomics.com/?cid=PBF071-Weeaboo.gif

The term came about as a wordfilter which replaced the word 'wapanese', which
one could say is a portmanteau of 'white' and 'Japanese', and so a white
person who attempts to take on the characteristics of Japanese, in a similar
way to a 'wigger', which is a white person who is trying to take on the stereotypical
characteristics of black people, usually African-Americans.

I'm not here to discuss the right or wrong of applying such terms, but just giving the
background to the origins and connotations of such words.

>>763
BioWare themselves have said that the only race available is Human, and that it will
follow Mass-Effect 2's dialogue system. The Mass Effect games were very good, but I
really liked Dragon Age's dialogue system, as it seemed to give more scope and background
to a conversation, rather than the short phrases you are able to choose on a dialogue wheel.

I believe that a weeaboo is one who takes their appreciation of
Japanese culture too far. It's one thing to LIKE Japan, but here
in the English-speaking countries, we get people who spend their
days inserting random nonsencial Japanese into phrases (可愛い、
です are two stereotypical examples, although I have seen
weeaboos/wapanese use 私 in the place of "I" or "me" when
speaking in english.), watching pirated anime, eating Pocky like
it's the only snack to ever come out of Japan, and collecting
expensive anime stuff.

I listed some of the stereotypical weeaboo traits there.

There are some, like me, who LIKE Japanese culture but aren't
obsessed with it. Eg. I like anime, Japanese food and Japanese
language, but it doesn't dominate my life.

So basically a weeaboo is someone who's obsessed with Japan to
the point of being annoying.

If a person likes or is just fond of some culture, that is fine.
But if a person is obsessed with it, especially subculture, people will see it.
Obsessive people are pretty much psycho who have issues.
So yes, if a person is seen as being obsessed with foreign subcultures
they will be made fun of, because it is obvious they don't get it.
It can be Finnish or Korean or whatever. Look at "wiggers".
A white person who just likes black culture and music won't be called that.

So your talk about hatred and inferiority complex is way off, and that of taboo too.
People don't talk about it because it's common sense and knowledge.
And who wants to talk to someone lacking those things?

What's really annoying (to some people) about this hardcore janiota is not probably his/her weeabooness, though,
given that this is basically a place where a bunch of clueless gaijin-maniacs and attention-seeking gaijins aimlessly
mingle with each other. As a matter of fact, if you happen to be an English speaking caucasian, interested in some aspect
of Japan/Japanese culture or anything Japanese for that matter, and feel like doodling about whatever you ate or watched yesterday,
boom there you go, you automatically get a gaijin pass that won't expire for a lifetime and your 2ch life is secured; it's that easy.
But this person, I must say, is just socially retarded and predisposed to not listen to or cooperate with others.

It's an entire 2ch board for foreigners. Look up what a dejima is, and you'll see that.
You can only post in 2byte characters, so Japanese, Korean Hungul(sp),

If you're a foreigner who justs wants to post on 2ch to feel connected with Japan or whatever, go there.
This thread is basically for Japanese to practice posting in English.

The term in the comic came first, and had no connection whatsoever to the
concept of 'wapanese'. It came about as a wordfilter. For example, if 2ch
had wordfilters coded into it, it could pick up, say, any instance of the
word 'English', and would change it so it said 'apple'. In the same way,
whenever accused someone of being 'wapanese', it changed it to 'weeaboo'.
I should probably mention this was on the 4chan imageboards. Sometimes we
would just add random, commonly used words to the wordfilters just to confuse
people.

>>828-829
A couple centuries ago, 'English' was used to describe anyone in the British Empire,
even the Scottish, Welsh, Australians. But now we use 'British'. These days, if someone
is 'English', then they specifically come from England. Ireland is a separate country,
though, so they are Irish. But Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, so they
are British.

In the UK drugstores are called chemist's, we don't have the term used here.
May be a native speaker like Igirusu-san can explain it better.
There are lots of terms that are specificially American, and they are not
used in colloquial English.
I wish the world would speak English-English. As a learner, I find it mucheasier to understand.
Except for the dialects.

I talked to my friend in America on Skype and when I mentioned about this

After coming to the US, I realized that
burakumin and ainu attract attentions from many US people
who are interested in Japan.
I don't know understand that, because for most of Japanese just don't care
or even don't know about it.
2ch people are super-unrepresentative sample of Japanese people,
and this is not a good place to ask this kind of question.

Anyway, I am from a mid-sized city (300,000),
where dowa education (anti-discrimination eduction) was emphasized.
But to me, born in the 70s, the buraku problem was just an issue of the past.
If I know someone's buraku or korean, I don't care.
If he/she is annoying, I think that's just his/her personality
and will not change my opinion toward them as a group.

For ainu, I don't know. They are less visible than Native American in the US.
Ainu population is much smaller than Native American, and where are they?
We don't have any ainu reservations where they operate casinos.

For foreigners, I am not qualified to answer, because I am a foreigner here.

Wanna see that?

Had a argument with mom.
She manages to make me do what she wants me to do saying "It'll good to you.
I want you to do this for your own good."

How dare she tell such a lie? She uses me for her hobby, not for me.
I want to do everything she told me and satisfy her. But I can't do everything.

Mom, please stop yelling me.

"throw away" usually refers to trash or something to be disposed of via a rubbish bin.
regardless, to throw away a house would be very difficult.

997名無しさん@英語勉強中:2010/09/22(水) 12:56:53
yeah, we do.
And we use metric, such as meters and kilograms, instead of
miles and pounds.
998nanashi:2010/09/22(水) 12:59:59
>>997
miles and pounds are ridiculous. even england doesn't officially use them anymore and they invented them. they make no sense.

>>996
ah, that makes sense.
999名無しさん@英語勉強中:2010/09/22(水) 13:02:31
They even use 'stone' to indicate a person's weight.
Sounds very primitive, lol
