Scientists in Florida have found that lights along beaches have been a problem for baby sea
turtles since that 1980s. In Florida,more than a million baby turtles have been affected.
They say that the turtles move by instinct toward the brightest thing they can see on the horizon-usually the
reflection of the stars and the moon on the sea. But when beaches are lit, baby turtles often move toward lit roads
and there they are run over by cars. Or they just go around and around in circles on the beach and die in the sun once day breaks.
It is clear that sea turtles and birds are in danger because of light at night.
