Competition to stay afloat in the saturated market for mineral water has intensified to the point where beverage makers who can't swim risk getting pushed under.
Price-cutting wars are raging at supermarkets, drugstores and small neighborhood shops, which often feature mineral water i special sales.
"The industry is plunging into a war of attention," says Kazuhiro Miyashita, chief editor for Inryo Soken, which publishes the industry magazine Inryo Business.
