One thing for sure is that what matters is if a software that converts letters to Japanese is installed in your PC, I think. I don't know about GIS. I only use Google. I think when you deal with geographical info, Google is more useful. Anyway, I'm afraid I'm not the right person to ask a question about PC realated things.

>>11 I was clueless when you e-mailed me asking for information about your prospective jobs in Japan. My job and performing art are in completely different line of work. I enjoyed Blue-man's performance in Tokyo last December. That was such an amazing show combining acting music and art, that I was really impressed. I had never seen such an amazing performance. If I remember correctly, you told me before that you were going to participate in the show in Tokyo but actually, you didn't?

We are very lucky this time because Andrew had your email address. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to contact each other.
I was wondering if you could give me your mailing address just in case something like this happens in the future. I will give you mine, too, of course.

>>208 In our company, we are suporsed to be evaluated on our business performance. But, in fact, they estimate us on their own judgement and prejudice, ignoring our achievements. This is the real situation in our company.
Those of Japanese who know a little bit of history of their own country know exactly how foreigners view themselves. They perceive slightly nervous attitude, or possibly fear, that foreigners have against them.
First of all, Japanese have almost no natural resources. This is a tremendous disadvantage and is like a man with limbs cut off. Plus, with one third of US population and one 25th of land of which 70% are mountenous, they can not rely on agricaultural exports. With these conditions, it is fair to say that they could have very likely been one of the poorest nations in the world.
Despite this, about a hundred years ago, they kicked the shit out of Russian and Chinese asses, two of the most militant nations at the time, and joined a supposedly caucasion based international circle. Soon after they declared a war against the US and bombed the US main land, the first and only nation in the world history. They annnihilated British navy as well as Dutch and fought until the US had to resort to the atomic bomb. Not once but amazingly they got bombed twice. It is a fact that they lost the war but is also true that European colonization in Asian countries came to an end after that.
What is more amazing is that the nation with no natural resources and its infrastructure fucked up had recovered within a couple of following decades and the rest of the world could do nothing but see Japanese showing off its economical strength. The price of land in Tokyo equaled to that of the whole US land at the time. How could a 100% ruined nation with massive reparations achieve that? Moreover 80% of Japanese economy was driven by domestic supply and demand. Japanese presence in international market in finance, automobile, manufacturing and industrial sectors at the time was rarely salient. Its like a joke, really. This was off course achieved without invasion, military action etc. They hold world's longevity record too, by the way. Last but obviously not least, they have the emperor, lasting more than 2000 years of historically, as well as academically, significant royal lineage.

The true value of the scholar of Buddhism of we Japan is asked now. I cannot help expressing sorrow and unavoidable protest in religious liberty being lost by a Chinese military action in Tibet heartily. We cannot overlook pains of the Tibetan including the priest as a person of religion, a scholar of Buddhism in silence anymore to the last. It is important basics to protect religious tradition of the Tibetan Buddhism for free will of the Tibetan. The all of you will feel how Japanese Buddhist priests of the whole country are. Each Japanese denomination, the religious community poured power into a temple with the relationship and revival after restoration of diplomatic relations in the daytime in each place in China. I was engaged in the revival of a temple in China, too. However, all the interchange with a temple in China cannot speak being similar without Beijing. There was hardly the freedom. The Japanese priests of the whole country know that it is so from now on. And it is well known that Beijing feels that a Japanese Buddhism religious community interchanges with the Dalai Lama Pope unpleasantly. I think that a problem of the religious liberty is serious to the last.
However, more than 3 weeks pass since a case of Tibet, and the conspicuous action is still less watched by the Japanese Buddhism world. If Chinese Buddhism world is an important friend, say nothing which why is; will not need to do it? Tibet that repeated the history as the Buddhism country led by the Dalai Lama Pope is going to die now. We must raise a voice as a scholar of person of religion / Buddhism from the grass-root. However, it will be very likely that the denomination where I belong to takes protest from a person concerned with Chinese Buddhism world, and I receive a ticking off. It is not to let's share an action with us to express in this way. Each chief priest, supporter of a Buddhist temple believers want you to think triggered by this by oneself. It will be that the priest of the worship plan comes to the temple with the Chinese interchange to the Olympics. In this situation, it will be made any kind of talk in China. What kind of thing may we preach to believer supporter of a Buddhist temple from now on if we cannot go in a resolute manner as a person of religion? It may be the last opportunity for this to be a scholar of person of religion / Buddhism for us.
翻訳してくれとようつべコメントにあったのでとりあえず英訳してみた。 稚拙な英語を直すなり関連スレに貼るなりしてくれると嬉しい Below is a statement from the Japanese Buddhist of Tendai-shu sect. He received Tibetan monk's message (possibly who was prepared for torture and even death) during his staying in Tibet.
Please copy and paste his statement to the related places in the Internet. Translations to any languages will also be appreciated.
Now, pieties of us, all Japanese Buddhists, are examined.
Here I make a protest to China about the lost of freedom of religion in Tibet by the armed interferences. We, as religionists and Buddhists, can no longer keep quiet about the Tibetan monks' and people's pains. Tibetans' religious tradition should be kept by Tibetans' own will.
I guess you may wonder what Japanese priests are thinking. Many Japanese denominations and religious societies worked for revivals of related temples in China, after the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the People's Republic of China. I also did work for a revival of the Chinese temple. (続く)
851 続き sage New! 2008/04/06(日) 03:40:45 ID:??? However, making contact to Chinese temples must be via Beijing (Chinese government). Actually, there was almost no freedom. Most of Japanese priests know that any positive changes cannot be expected in the future. In addition, it is well known that Beijing (Chinese government) is offended by any contacts between us and the Dalai Lama.
I think, the most serious problem is keeping freedom of religion. However, there is no clear statements from the Japanese Buddhists' society after three weeks from the first news from Tibet. I believe that the Buddhists' society in China is our important friend. If it is correct, why can we keep quiet?
Tibet having long history as a Buddhists' country with the Dalai Lama is, now, VANISHING. We religionists and Buddhists must raise a cry of protest.
Possibly I will be scolded by my denomination, if the Chinese Buddhists' society make a protest to them. I do not force you to act with me. Please start thinking about what's happening in Tibet.
Some priests would plan to visit the related Chinese temples in the Olympic season. What will you talk with them, in such a situation? If we will not behave resolutely, how we can preach a sermon to our neighbors?
This can be our last chance to be a true religionists and Buddhists.

You are right in that both "Death Note" and "Prince of Tennis" appear on the same magazine targeted for male teenagers. However, although the target audience of this magazine are teenage boys, a lot of girls read that magazine, too.
Moreover, there is a clear difference between "Death Note" and "Prince of Tennis" in terms of their readerships. The former is popular among adult males and females. In contrast, the readership of "Prince of Tennis" consists mainly of females. In fact, it is clear that this comic series is intended for women and it is simply not attractive for male readers.
