There are TOEFL thread, teacher thread, tour guide thread etc. I see everyone is bragging their scores all around, and I love reading them. I just wanted to be amazed by their beautiful skills... That's all.

First of all, I see your point. As some "would-be" advanced learners might boast of their English qualifications or make a remark on English language learning, you should judge them by their writing skills. I don't care what people think of me.
However, as #90 said, it would be much easier for many participants to read and write in Japanese at 2ch.
As for improving English skills, I am of the same opinion. I think the key is to keep in practice.
Am I the only one here thinking that some Japanese people, if not many, enthusiastically preparing for English tests such as TOEIC tend to enjoy finding grammatical mistakes when other Japanese write or speak in English rather than communicating with them? Do you think that's the case? Anyway, sometimes wondering why some countries like Singapore or Sweden have successful bilingual education systems where the people seem to become bilingual effortlessly, I'm kind of interested in how their systems work and they learn English.

It's English guy again. Intermediate learners don't have to use English for debate. It'll cause misunderstandings often. You'll learn from your big embarrassing experiences, though.
The key to a good user is to use easy English. "From the preconception of mine..." is no cool English at all. Say "If so..." instead.
What I was frustrated the other day was they were contradicting themselves. It was like they were concerned about deteriorating English skills of fellows nowadays, but they didn't even think about how do they look like. If they think they are living proofs of good English users... Oh shoot, I'm whining like >>85 said.
What do you think about the state of High School level English instruction in Japan? I've spoken to students with experience in the system and I'm told that their textbooks have English text transliterated into Katakana, which I find kind of unbelievable.
