Hey!!! you NEETS, nerds, Akiba maid-cafe frequenters, Youtube-link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis, Yukorin enthusiasts, Gloved hitwoman maniacs, Internet-addicted housewives-in-therapy, Diplomats' spoiled sons, Losers who can't remember Kanji characters, Big-boobs fans, and Morons in the Red Square who believe Tokyo is the promised land,
I don't want to discuss its validity. But Denmark and swiss seem to be regarded as the most advanced in free speech. So I though holocaust denial must and should be allowed in those countries. If not, they don't deserve the prize.
holocaust denial is a very minor movement here in japan. And as is not the case with another countries, many are left wing or anti authoritarian people, who sympathze with palestina and arabs.
It's snowing in the Kanto area this morning! Expected max. tempreture is 4℃, cold〜〜!!
It has been reported that drinking coffee everyday reduces the risk of liver cancer by 50%, reduces the risk of daibetes, soothing your temper, etc., however, it has also been reported that taking in caffeine equivalent to 2 cups of coffee (or tea) increases the risk of miscarriage.... What should I do?
I thought cold coffee are served only in Japan? At least that's Japanese original way of drinking coffee. That's whatt I heard. I remeber kind of being shocked when I heard it.
>>14 It is -4 degrees outside here right now. What is the normal temperature for the Kanto region this time of year?
As for coffee, I have always heard that it is supposed to be bad for you. The health hype is more about green tea over here.
Interesting fact: Sweden is among the biggest consumers (per person) of coffee. Green tea is relatively uncommon. It exists, of course, but it is not the daily drink of choice for most people.
I suspect that most of these reports on verious foods and drinks being healthy have to do with marketing. If you want to sell more of your product, you find a scientific study claiming that your product is good for the health; then you write an article and convince newspapers to print it on a slow news day, and hope that people will read it.
>>15 I don't know when Iced coffee became popular over here in the US, but it seems like it was in the last few years that Starbucks and other coffee shops began adding it to their menus, usually in the summer. McDonald's had that special Iced Coffee Special Deal something-or-another last summer.
>>15 In Europe, iced coffee is known as 'frappé', and originated in Greece, though it is consumed all around the Mediterranean. However, Japanese iced coffee has been around longer.
>>16 Health hypes? I hope you don't eat a lot of ramen...
>>18 It hardly ever snows around my town anymore. I'd have said we never get snow, but the nearest city was totally white yesterday. When I was nine years old, I built a coffin out of snow and lay in it until it collapsed on me. Good days. Anyway, I hope you go out and scream.
>>20 Anybody ever tried ‘Kopi Luwak’? I hear that... that’s the most expensive coffee in the world. and French ppl can’t get enough of it. I'm a chicken... so I don't know if I ever want to try that!!!
>>20 I did go outside but didn't scream, because there were some neighbors around, damn.. I don't have to get my reputation go down with this. Still wanna scream though.
In some regions in Japan, people make these when it snows; kamakura. I made a small one when I was a kid, but today's snow is not going to lie that much on the ground, I guess. http://f9.aaa.livedoor.jp/~laut/akita2006/0402164.jpg
I believe people in Europe are hopeless when it comes to it cause baseball isn't popular there. I throw a snow ball like Ichiro Suzuki who has a reputation of having strong arms. My pitch is like him and it's like a laser beam. You can't get way from my pitched.
I just spent all day doing exercises for my Japanese course that have to be in by Monday. Simple exercises, but boring. At this rate, with luck, I have to do this every day until Monday. Hurray!
It's my own fault, of course. These should have been done a long time ago, but I'm stupid.
the news of Heath Leadger's death makes me shocked a lot. that'll be a serious loss in the movie world.・゚・(ノД`)・゚・。 why must he pass away? though we can't find the right cause of his death yet. and i wanna know how the American reacted to the news.
Hello, I'm headed to Japan soon and I'm looking for ideas on strange/offbeat things in Japan. I traveled there for a month in 2006. This time we're going for Yuki Matsuri/Tokyo and I'm looking things that aren't in guide books. Any ideas welcome!
Internet business is in full bloom now that use of Internet is common. What kind of skills are required to go into IT industry? I have no clues. You have to major in computer science in university? Founders of Yahoo, google and Youtube majored cumputer science right?
Some companies make websites for their customers. So I can guess you have to know HTML to land a job in that company. Does computer science department at uni teach you HTML? Do they teach you how to write a program? Do they teach you programming languages?
One of the Japanese most popular SNS called GREE are started up by a man who didn't major computer science. I heard programming is something you teach your self like him. But is it better to learn it in uni? What kind of knowledge do you need to get a job in IT industry and does the knowledge is taught in computer science department of University?
I heard Photoshop or graphic design are taught in University school, too. In what department of uni do they teach PC related graphic design? Doesn't that have to do with computer science at all?
>>26 Baseball is kinda like kids' game in Russia. It's called "lapta", though rules are a bit different. It gives the ground to jokes about american Baseball World Cup.
umm....I lost his address. I immediately deleted msn's address when somebody added me. But I have a second thought. Maybe I can talk to him again. but is there a way to reproduct(?) someone's address on MSN?which has already been deleted?
>>21 Heard about that, and the deer one too... but can't really see how it appeals to people. Then again, I haven't tried it either. If it was offered, perhaps...
>>22 Ah, you're not the first person to have said that...
>>25 Those would be interesting to make. There's never enough snow here for it though. How long would they last, and have they ever been responsible for wiping out an entire family?
>>26 Ah ha, but then, cricket bowling speeds are, on average, faster (though just by a little). The problem is, in Britain's case, a lot of people would run and scream after getting snow down their neck. Grown men, I mean.
>>50 The heirs of Nelson and of Cromwell are not in the House of Lords. They are in the fields and the streets, in the factories and the armed forces, in the four-ale bar and the suburban back garden; and at present they are still kept under by a generation of ghosts. Compared with the task of bringing the real England to the surface, even the winning of the war, necessary though it is, is secondary. By revolution we become more ourselves, not less. There is no question of stopping short, striking a compromise, salvaging “democracy”, standing still. Nothing ever stands still. We must add to our heritage or lose it, we must grow greater or grow less, we must go forward or backward. I believe in England, and I believe that we shall go forward.
>>68 Maybe some did but only fat ones. It was restricted to boys. The girl equivalent was called Bund Deutscher Mädel - The League of German Girls, of age 10-18.
>>49 I'm going to suck myself and eat my poop. JEALOUS MUCH, HUH? I bet you can't do such sort of things, because YOU'RE TOO SHY FOR EVEN YOUR OWN SELF!
>.> I always seem to come to this thread at very ..er...strange times. xD In any case! hello! I'm back from Egypt and Jordan! It was fantastic! Actually, I got back a few days ago, but I've only just recently gotten rid of the jetlag. and hopefully I can buy a webcam sometime this week.
How has everyone been? n___n<3 I'm a little sunburned. lol.
I'm going back to DOS! I heard there is no actual problems with soft for it, it supports multitasking (in the meaning of running a few programs simultaneously). I will make my 256MB USB flashdrive bootable and write FreeDOS there. Then I'll setup drivers to support net and sound, and maybe some GUI shell (I'm not sure whenever it'd be necessary for me or not). My DOS will have IM client, web browser, mp3 player and some emulators to play old games. It will be much more faster than my current WinXP (which seriously needs reinstall).
>>76 I hope that I will never be big on youtube. >.> Fame is something very intimidating. But I'll be happy if 2chers have their own vlogs and say hello. n_n
>>77 It's sort of hard to describe the differences, maybe igirisu-san will explain that. Is it a big deal to you for some reason?
>>78 I'm wondering if American people have trouble listening to British people. About pronunciations/accents, I can't even understand some Japanese dialects mainly due to their strong accents. The point is... you don't have a hard time in understanding people with strong dialectic accents?
I mean, british accents are quite different from american ones. I can't catch them, especially when they mumble/whisper. Tell me what I should do to improve my listening conprehention. I am SO angry at myself that I'll turn into super saian like Vegeta!
lol. No, Most americans don't have much of a problem with it, unless it's spoken really fast or mumbled. My only real suggestion is maybe...watching a british program with english subtitles. Then, you will hear and read the english so you'll get used to the way it's pronounced there. n_n; I don't know if this will work, but it's worth a try
>>81 Have you ever heard of Buffy? The vampire slayer? In the drama, a british man acts as Giles the librarian or curator, and I've got English subs on but I can't match the sounds with subtitles I suck!! I can't do it!!! I should best never touch English dramas!!!! I hate myself because I can't understand English!!!!!!!!! Bad me! Hey! Laugh at me! I'm such a miserable fucking Jap!! Dick-headed, it's me!
Matt is coming!!! Matt is coming!!!! ---- Hi folks If you're getting this email, you've either signed-up on my site to benotified or you've written to me and mentioned where you live. I'm coming toJapan to shoot a clip for my new dancing video. This is an invitation tocome out and join me. The last video was about places. This one is about people. LOTS of people. So I'm not too concerned about the background. I just want a place wherepeople can gather and dance badly without getting into too much trouble.
The location is the steps in Tokyo's Yoyogi Park on Sunday, January 27th. Wewill dance at 3pm. Here's a link to the Google Map:http://tinyurl.com/3dkvjd The photo attached to this email shows where to meet. I know a lot of you are nowhere near Tokyo. But most of you are, so it's thebest place for getting a good crowd together. We're not publicizing the event. This is just going out to people who'vesigned up on my site or sent me email. I'd like to get a big crowd together,so please extend this invitation to everyone you know who might want toparticipate.
The boring details are below. If you can't make it, you don't need to readany further: Please print out the attached release form and sign it ahead of time, ifpossible. If you don't have a printer, I'll have copies to hand out. Sorry, but I only have copies of the forms in English. I'll also need to take a photo of each participant before the dance andattach it to the release form so we can identify everyone in the video. If you are under 18, you MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian who cansign the release form and be photographed with you.
Those are the rules Ihave to follow in order to use the footage. The good news is that my sponsoris making a donation to charity for each person who signs up and dances withme. Feel free to invite friends to come with you. Just make sure everyone isokay with signing the release form. When you get to the spot, look for the guy who looks like the guy in thedancing video. Just come on over and say hello.
I shouldn't be too difficultto find. It will take some time to process each person, so depending on how many showup, I may have to stop accepting forms at some point and shoot the video. If you come early, it'll make things a bit easier on me. The whole thing shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to shoot. We'll set upthe shot, dance for about 15 seconds, do it one more time for good measure, and then try a couple fun variations. There won't be any music. That gets added later.
Blasting a stereo justcomplicates things. Dance however you want to the music in your head. I can't guarantee that the clip we shoot will end up in the final video. There will be a lot of footage to choose from and some of it will not beused. You're welcome to bring your own camera. After the shoot, I'll stick aroundfor pictures and stuff.
>>72 My Russian just got back from Egypt too, about a week ago. Have to ask, though, how was Petra?
>>77 I assume you have much more exposure to American television than to British. If this is the case, I'd just advise you to try and watch more British shows, just to get used to listening more. If you want to try a mixture of regional (but not extreme) accents, try shows like Blackadder, Monty Python or Red Dwarf. Some of the accents used are Received, which should make them easier to understand.
I'm happy to dance with you in your ownpicture/video, so don't hesitate to ask. Please reply to this email if you plan to attend and let us know how manypeople you think you'll be bringing. It'll help to give us an idea of howmany to expect. We're planning to put the final video up on the internet on June 21st, 2008. I look forward to dancing badly with you!
-Matt and Melissa ------------------------------ For those who don't know about him, check,
oh! I know those videos! The "Where the hell is matt?" videos. They're so awesome! They show him in places all over the world...so, he's been to all of those famous places, but hasn't been to Japan?! If he's in japan, he should do the dance in the famous shibuya crossing. xD
>>107 Hi Keira. Do you drink a coffee??? If you do, have you ever tried 'Kopi Luwak’? I think thats a most expensive coffee in the world and French ppl can’t get enough of it.
>>109 hello there! It was a lot of fun! I saw some realy amazing sites! So many temples and everything. n_n Egyptian people are really friendly! Cairo has the most insane traffic I've ever seen. :O stop signs, lane dividers, and street lights are just for decoration there-noone follows them at all! A good car is determined by how loud the horn is. xD lots of honking, people walking, and donkeys in the road. Even camels.
>>110 No, I'm not one for coffee. I do like tea though.
>>111 Oh wow, I'd love to see a drag race like 'a donkey vs. a camel'. lol I've heard Italians drive like fanatics too, lots of honking and ignoring signs. Did you go inside of some pryramids? I've heard it's humid there.
Lady keira, I have a question. Do you have any interest in Japanese stuff such as J-dramas/J-pops and what not. When I saw some video clips(variety shows ane music live videos), I found out many girls mostly from asia were entusiastic about Johnnys boys. And there are westerners (american or german), though fewer, posting comments no different from asian girls, say, matsujun is hot, sho is cute, yamap is my boyfriend, and so on. What do you think about it? Are you in league with those girls? Do you think Japanese boys are cute? Or perhaps you love American macho guys better?
>>107 He seems to have shot a video in Tokyo. http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=bNF_P281Uu4 At 0:44 seconds, he is dancing at an intersection. Don't know if it's Shibuya crossing or not. This time he says he'll dance in Yoyogi Park, which is really close to Harajuku station.
STRIDEgum. is said to have sponsered his second trip around the world. Have you people overseas heard of the company? Is it's headquarters in USA?
>>113 lol I've heard some horror stories about europe. I guess pedestrians don't have the right-of-way there or something... There are some signs that prohibit honking, but most people don't obey them. In New York, there is a $350 fine if someone honks in a no-honking zone. xD
>>114 When it comes to Japanese stuff, I love all the really cute japanese stuff like sanrio. n___n And I'm a fan of CUTiE magazine. I don't watch any j-dramas because I don't like soap operas (My mom always watches them so I'm tired of them. xD) I do like some japanese music like Asian kung-fu generation, number girl, toddle, the pillows...ect. Lol, you're asking my taste in guys? xD I like all types of boys. Japanese, American, European...doesn't really matter to me. xD It depends really.
>>116 Yes, I've heard of stride gum. He's lucky to be able to travel to so many fantastic places. :D So he's going to get a lot of people to dance with him? sounds like fun. xD
>>118 lol, I'm not a very good representation though. Most girls my age are probably texting or browsing their MySpace . But I'll try my best. XD
>>122 Lol. I don't know, macho guys are kind of scary. He might shake my hand and brake it.
>>123 Actually, I don't watch much TV at all. xD I haven't seen the Death Note live action, but I've read the manga and have seen the anime, Is the movie good? It would be weird seeing the same actor from Battle Royale. I would probably refer to him as "shuya" instead of "light"/"raito".
Okay, you don't like machos, hm hm. I still stand a chance. The Death Note movie isn't that good but the details are a bit different, so you might like it.
>>125 Haha i see. Concerning the movie, yeah, I think it's better. the movie focuses on Light versus L, which means the storyline is better-plotted. Give it a look. It won't hurt.
And this winter, another story of L will be made into film. Original story.
>>126 lol. I see, I think I'll still give it a chance. I think Sweeney Todd has come to Japan recently hasn't it? I saw it about a month ago and I really love the soundtrack. xD What movies do you like 名無しさん? n_n
>>125 Do you know Magibon of the Youtube? If you do, what do you think of her??? She maybe watching this thread but, i'd like to know what do you think of her...
>>130 I don't think she knows her. Probably she's just heard of her name. I know her thread is linked from here but no chance of her reading this thread. She's a heck of a lot busier to make her Youtube videos, isn't she?
>>128 Yes, I've heard that there will be an original movie about L! Sounds exciting! n_______n<3 I hope it'll be good. Wonder what the plot will revolve around.
>>130 Yes, I've seen magibon. I haven't seen many of her videos, so there isn't much I can say about her. She's very cute, but her videos are so short. I think her vlogs would be more interesting if she had a theme. Maybe for ech vlog she could reveal what she did that day or share something about herself. But so far, people like her just the way she is, so that's good enough. n_n
>>133 have you watched tralers of "L changes the world"? You said you didn't watch deathnote movies..so I won't give a spoiler, but at least the next movie is the sequence of movie 2. I bet you like it, but before that, try movie 1&2. I think you can watch it somewhere online like youtube.
>>128 Are you Japanese? I subtitled the most watched L changed the world trailer on youtube. The person who uploaded the trailer asked for help in 2ch to translate the trailer and I translated it. Anyfeed back about the sub is welcome.
>>135 In what way? I can make friends with boys and girls equally. but I'd only date boys. xD
>>136 weee! I just watched the trailer! I'm excited. :D I hope that the movie will try to stay true to his nature though. I like the fact that he has no social skills. :] and... lenny kravitz? lol.
>>137 It's okay. xD We're all just bored. At least people aren't bored of me yet. xD
What do you mean by this? Do you mean his song doesn't match the movie or he is not popular so it's funny to see his tune is adopted in Japanese movie?
>>148 The first one. It just seemed really...out of nowhere.xD It seemed distracting to me. Just like with the other DN movie, wasn't the song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers in it? It seems like such a strange match! Well, perhaps it works in the right context.
>>146 Thanks. Comments like that make me feel proud of myself.
>>147 >Sorry, I'm not the one you helped with subtitling it. I know. If he was fluent in English like you, he wouldn't have needed to ask for help. My point is, if you are Japanese and understand both Japanese and English, you can comment about how well/badly Japanse in the trailer is translated in English. I just wanted your feedback.
>>154 I see. I really like to see the one you subbed, but for some reason, I can't watch YT videos now. YT says that I need to upgrade "flashplayer" and I've followed the instruction, but... I don't know.. it doesn't work. I'll check your sub and give my take on the sub right after I've solved the problem.
Well, I think I'm going to clean my room and go to sleep. Good night everyone. I hope you have a good friday tomarrow (althought it will be thursday here.) baaaaaai~~
>>164 I see. I don't want to force you to comment on the sub. I was just curious about what you think about it. I have noticed a few mistakes in the subs but the person who uploaded the video told me not to worry because it's not an official trailer. Anyway thanks.
What is she saying? Summery please. I wonder where copyrights of the videos youtubers make belong? They belong to Youtube? If they belong to each youtubers then, the TV station had to contact Magibon and asked for permission to use her video, right?
I think you are doing the other way around. If you want many nice people to participate, I can bring to that place and have many discussions in various ways of subjects. I have many nice friends, sunny, evil pie, skriptid, etc. Pls consider. Be nice to me and treat me with a greatest manner. so that I can come there along with them and have exciting and peaceful discussions there.
No administrater, no master, no facilitator, no organizer here.
This thread is an online version of wild wild west. People with Slim Shady deep inside come here and chat as if they were nice people. Sometimes their Slim Shady inside can't hold their ego and get wild. But that's the way it is.
>>181 50 Cent survived 9 shots of a 9mm handgun. He wouldn't have been dead w/o Eminem. Eminem would go bankrupt w/o 50 Cent actually, since he can't rap anymore.
Hi, keira. how are you doing? I want to know if it's true you like boys? I don't think it's true, tho. Nobody in their right mind would talk such rubbish. So the one that started it was hentai otaku, I must say. Anyway, enjoy your bf!
breakfast lunch dinner and test, exam that's endless. I think you'd better call if off. you need the real life. don't just stay in front of the computer all the time.
>>119 Surely you mean why do american people pronounce 'hair' same as english pronounce 'hear'. Then you should think 'why is my hear such a mess today?'.
>>169 It was fairly short, so I transcribed the whole thing:
"What I'm doing right now is actually the latest trend on Youtube.
It might seem like I'm just staring, but it's actually more to it than that.
According to the magazine Resume, 21-year old girl "Meririan" started this, and her latest clip, in which she's staring like this for a good while, has been seen by more than 800 000 viewers.
Many others have started doing the same; that is, staring into their webcams, and "Meririan" also has gotten fans who have put together tributes to her.
Of course, with viewers and fans also come comments; many wonder what it is she's doing, and many discuss her japanese heritage, and many have offered more-or-less dirty proposals.
And after this staring, you might wonder what the next thing might be. Is it possible to get more pointless?"
(End transcript)
Something that struck me is how much this so-called reporter's language seems to be influenced by English...
>>169 I should point out that "Aftonbladet TV" is not a TV channel, it's a (tabloid) newspaper. They have this "web TV" thing, presumably because so many people prefer reading the news at their website anyway, and it's a relatively cheap way to get some extra attention.
There is an exception to (or limitation of) copyright in Swedish law called "quotation right", in which you're free to take parts of a copyrighted work and quote it, for example for a review or a report.
So for this, they would not need special permission.
I believe there is something similar in US law (and UK law?) called "fair use", except that appears to be more general. (The Swedish (and German) Wikipedia sites, for example, have far less pictures. The reason for that, I've been told, is that we don't have "fair use", we have "quotation right" instead. But I don't really know...)
>>201 Thank you very much for the whole translation. In uderstand what the reporter said about her. I don't understand Swedish but I can for some reason understand your translation is excellent.
>>202 Ok, it's not a TV show but a broadcast on newspaper conpany's website. Thank you for the input. I have seen some online newspaper have videos on their websites so I understand what you mean.
And thank you for your detailed information about copyright things! I for one am not convinced of the law. If my image was used without advance notice, I'd feel bad about it. But can't complain about the law...
Don't they think japanese girls are more devout and docile? That's too streotypical image. Maybe relatively yes. (north) american girls seem to be very boyish and aggresive , looking at Aviril Lavine for example.
I must learn English way harder to compose more compound-complex sentences, let alone build wider vocabularies and work on basic grammar, as it seems quite impossible to insult anybody with my English and intelligence at the moment.
I'm trying to catch up with schoolwork now, though. Should have done that during winter holiday, but never did.
Not sure it's the best thing to do, trying to stay in school, but right now, it's mostly a case of "screw it, I'm going to do this no matter what". I'll deal with the consequences later.
Yeah I was having trouble getting stuff done at school too, had to quit last year a few months before I would finish my third semester So now I foolishily spent half a year of tuition and I'm trying to get back into school, but I have trouble knowing where to start again.
>>250 I did the same thing in high school, I quit during my third year. Probably one of the most stupid things I've done. Now, I managed to get into university, and already quit/changed courses once.
This is probably the last chance I'll get, so I have to try doing better this time. I don't know from where everyone else get their motivation, it seems like I can only stand doing one thing for half a year at a time before I quit...
(Sorry for going on about myself. You can have the thread back now.)
>>273 maybe one burger is good enough. I rarely order two foods at one time.
I ordered teriyaki mac berger set(teriyaki burger, fried potato, and iced coffee) about a couple of months ago. At that time I also got a little sick. Maybe iced coffee was bad. Mc coffee is not mild(bitter) and sickening. fried totato is also too oily. fried potato alone is enough.
mosburger is more expensive and it takes more time to cook burger than mc. a burger of rice bun with kinpira gobou(fried burdock root (and carrot)) in it is invented by mosburger. i reccomend you to eat at when in japan.
I didn't go to mos in many year's interval though. mc is a good place for losers.
Burger King failed to survive in Japanese market and retreated. But about one year ago or so, it starts operation here in Japan again. Only in Tokyo metropolitan areas. Just a few outlets I think. Anybody know the differences in tastes between burgers of Mcdonald's and Burger King?
All I know is Slim Shady used to work at Burger King and spit in burgers before serving them to customers.
Is anybody in this thread actually Japanese? I'm from Norway myself, I was just wondering if y'all are all foreigners, or if a Japanese person that can carry an English conversation actually exists.
Well I can't say for certain; I've never been there and I don't know anything about it, but the name is quite familiar; it's a well-known prestigious school at least. That usually is a good thing.
>>286 In the US, the fries at Burger King tend to be a bit better, but the burgers themselves aren't much different from McDonald's burgers that I can tell. I'm not a "regular" of either restaurant, though.
>>289 Are you different from the Norwageon whose handle name is ノルウェー人?
I think there are many Japanese here, me included. Don't forget this thread is in 2ch's English board where Japanse who learn English gather. Some are univeristy students some are high school students, some in workforce and some are Neet.
But not many Japanese is good enough at English to the extent they write long and complicated posts. Long posts that are clamied to be posted by Japanese tend to be written by old middle aged Japanese. Not many young people are good enough at English to be able to write long messages.
>>290 I asked the question because it's a college Steve Jobs dropped out. http://jimaku.in/w/D1R-jKKp3NA/nbZXF_WFQDq He said in the speech he learned design stuff but I wonder where he learned programming? You can't develop OS only with the knowledge of lettering decoration which he touched on in his speech.
>>290 Then you are a regular of KFC or Subway sandwitch perhaps?
Alright, I was able to post. I got error messages about my lines being too long, so I tried manually line-breaking, but it didn't work. I even tried splitting the post in two, but that didn't work either. Anybody know what the problem might be?
>>295 Don't tel me haven't copied the message or else you have to write from scratch. Maybe you give up writing the post again.
I'm Japanese so don't know what you should do. Some problems realted to posts from verseas to 2ch has been reported so far in this thread. Maybe someone kind overseas will give you some messages that might lead to solving your problem.
>>297 Luckily it was still there when I hit the back button, and now it's resting in a .txt. I'm gonna try splitting it into 4 (lol) posts and see if it works then.
>>291 Yes, I'm not that guy, and this is in fact the first post I've ever posted here. I thought that both 2ch and 2chan had blocked all foreign IPs from posting, but apparently that only went for 2chan.
Here in Norway, we are exposed to English all the time, so most people here are very efficient in using it.
We also learn English in elementary school. We are much better English users than say people from Switzerland or Germany, because they dub everything into German. If more countries would just subtitle and air English shows, instead of dubbing them, the people in their countries would be far better at using English.
How is the English classes in Japanese schools? I got the impression that lessons and the entire English-teaching system is really bad, is that correct?
PS: Do anyone here know any company in Japan that will resend packages for me? I want to buy something from Amazon.jp, but they won't ship it outside of Japan. I've heard of sites that you can use as middlemen; you order the package from f.ex. amazon.jp, and make them send it to said company, and then they proceed to send it to you. Does any such page exist?
Norwegian, I stayed up all night and have no enery to explain about English education here. I'll go to bed now. One thing is for sure. You can't acquire English level good enough to communicate with people in English. We need extra efforts. That's waht's wrong with Japanese English education.
I'm sorry I don't know if such delivering company exsits. I don't even have bought stuff on Amazon. Wait and see and someone nice give you a helping hand.
There are resending services, but the only one I can think of at the moment is pricejapan.com. (They list consumer electronics, etc, on their site. Don't know if they ship other things.)
>>303 Ah, that's right, it's morning in Japan now. It's ~2 AM here now. Alright, have a good one. I'll probably come back to this thread tomorrow, so drop me a line if you're on.
>>306 No, I don't. But I'm studying the language (first year) and might go as an exchange student some time later. So not so interesting, I'm afraid. Unless you want to hear about retaking exams and things like that...
Norsk is fine by me, but maybe not for everyone else on this board. :)
>>308 I see. Where are you going? My (tiny) university has a lousy exchange program with Hokkaido Tokai (few students get to go, and only for a short stay) but another place I studied at has a much better deal with Kansai Gaidai, which I've heard is a pretty good place. So I'll try to get into that exchange program somehow.
Two people in my class, the main overachievers, have saved up money to be able to pay tuition and go on their own. One guy is planning on staying for two years...
>>309 I think Tokai and Jousai (?, I don't really remember the name, sorry) are our two alternatives.
It sounds like you've got a pretty sucky system for exchange. We all get scholarships if we pass our exams this semester, and we have enough slots for everybody to go if they want (we're about 70 people in the class).
How much do you pay for university tutoring per semester? I pay ~590 SEK/~91 USD/~9725 YEN.
>>311 Well, I suppose we pay 0 (zero) SEK... There is a mandatory fee to the student's union though, which I believe is around 200 SEK or so. (That's around 3500 yen, for the rest of you.)
And yeah, we have a pretty bad deal. Only *two* students per year get to go. Our beginner's class, not counting distance course students was around 25 people. I think there was four of us that applied, one was accepted. (The other slot was taken by someone not taking Japanese.)
We wouldn't have to pay tuition (at Tokai) ourselves though. But the strange part is that our university accepted five exchange students from there last year. No idea why it's that way. Presumably because we're really small.
>>312 Good to see another country with a school economics system functioning at full capacity. Sucks that you get so few spots, but this just means that you've gotta outdo everybody else in your class. You can do it!
Anyway, I'm tired as a... As a... Hell, I'm too tired to even attempt making an analogy, so I'm just gonna call it a night.
I asked the question because it's a college Steve Jobs dropped out. http://jimaku.in/w/D1R-jKKp3NA/nbZXF_WFQDq He said in the speech he learned design stuff but I wonder where he learned programming? ----------------- Really... interesting. does this fact give me some hope? or we have to have at least intelligence to enter college as hard as reed college? jobs seems to have been a programming genius before he entered a college though.
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=M3E6WETNwVc grotesque. those children were dancing for their life. they will be punished severly if they miss. nazi germany ceremony was better. it was more vivid and german adolescents were really ambitious with shining eyes. they hailed hitler with whole heart. it's not mandatory. they were all in a glow of enthusiasm. nazi was evil. but great and cool evil like a empire in starwars. http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=kuxkq1zIWDY
What is this place? You're not going to believe this. You're actually beneath the toxic jungle. Beneath the jungle? Do you see that? We fell through the hole of that, along with the bunch of the sand. How can we breathe without a mask? I don't know. Somehow the air down here is clean. I couldn't believe it either. I've never dreamed the toxic jungle could be like this.
Oh YEAH!!!!! I'm SOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!!! Thanks god!! finally finally finally!!! I can come back here! I can speak out whatever I want FINALLY!!! THANKSSSS
coming online was a happy time for me before but for some reason it had been a most depressing time for a long time but finally I feel so relieved! now I want to do a lot of things. I feel like writing long texts! hopefully many nice people such as america jin san would come back here again and exchange the ideas with us.
>>338-340 Congratulations... but aren't you the person who escaped an abusive relationship a few months ago? If so, good luck, and hope you pick a better partner next time. If not... well... then I sound kind of stupid right now.
>>329 I won't post it in here this time, but if you (or anyone else, for that matter) wish to get hold of me privately, just follow the link.
I'm gonna show you L!! With Ryuku's infomation and my preparations, I can continue to kill criminals whose names are broadcast on the news while I'm masquarading as typical high school sudent studying for his entrance exams. Just watch me, L..
I'll take a potato chip...AND EAT!!!!!!!!!!
Well... American English is sort of easier to recognize than British English. I swear. lol Let's get rid of British accents from the world. That's my wish.
1. What kind of people post on 2ch and 2chan? Are they all nerds (I don't mean this in a negative way), or is 2ch/2chan so known in Japan that all kinds of people post there?
2. When I go to Japan, being white, should I expect lots and lots of racism? I've heard so many people talking about the Japanese being very, very racist, so I figured I should ask here, and get both foreigners' and the Japanese's views on this.
3. To the Japanese posting here: How many kanji do you know (if you know Chinese as well, that doesn't count)? How many kanji does a regular adult know?
Here's something completely unrelated, but also completely awesome since it's most probably the best street performance in the history of mankind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUO6kYLb6As
>>369 It seems like a lot of foreigners are a little obsessed with Japanese racism, as if Japan's was especially bad. I think maybe they're just not used to being a racial minority in a 1st-world country.
>>369 1. people like you 2. Watch this before you are worried about racism. http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=rjqcpiOsThI Don't worry. They weren't rounded up even if they caused lots of trouble in Japan. 3. as far as public education's concerned, about 2 thousands. But it depends. Those who read lots of books know more.
>>372 >>2. Watch this before you are worried about racism. Wow, what a bunch of retards. I also hear alot about foreign morons coming to Japan to "party" like fucking idiots, apparently there's some truth to that.
1. It's really hard to tell, but 2ch is know as 'black' BBC where people who are not very good at social relationship and being 'net-holic'. That's why people here are easy to become aggressive to other posting, which they never can be like in the real society. But I'm guessing there are a lot of 'ordinary' people here, who are having relatively succeful life, but feeling stressful in everyday life.
2. I don't think you'll face very mean racism in Japan. I mean it can happen in any countries and I don't think Japan is specially bad. It really depends on your luck, i mean, who you will meet in Japan. Some people say Japanese people are very polite and kind, and others say they don't wanna visit Japan any more. But I personally think Japanese people have good impression on Scandinavian cultures, so you don't have to be very nervous about that.
>>369 I don't know who is promoting propaganda. Probably It's malicious whites themselves with an aim to write off their racism or east asians who want to make japanese look bad.
don't worry. I watched gaijin(white guy) prank act in the train like kissing windows and forward rolling. he was absolutely making fun of japanese. japanese were scared off and didn't give one warning... I didn't like vulgar aussie guy. But it was rather japanese meek reaction which irritated me. I am myself japanese. But When I am in that situation, I'm not sure I can give him instruction. Maybe anger in myself but you can't tell from my face expression. So even if you do bad things, you are made allowance because you are apparent white foreigner.
When russian soccer national team lost to japan, there was a riot of attacking japanese(including other nonwhites) and firing cars. no such thing happened when we lost to turkey. when japanese national squad fought against russia, i watched on tv a man with a record of detention in syberia root for russia with russian flag.
It's riduculous, but it's one way of japanese hospitality to show friendship. There was an event to root for korea(our cohost) in the national stadium. japan had already dropped off the tournament. and what did korea demand? they demanded final in their home land. final was scheduled in japan. korea had a chance to go to final.
japanese might pass(run away from) you or ignore you. But it's not racism. rather it is japanese inferiority complex to foreigners, among others, white people. they are not confident in english and feel awkard with foreigners. Japanese are very shy in general.
It seems like being a foreigner in Japan is somewhat like renting a room in a private home, while being a foreigner in America might be more like going to a motel. You get a lot more attention in Japan for being a foreigner, and you have to be more careful about not disturbing your neighbor. I think a lot of Americans especially have trouble with this. I'm French, and I find it rather shocking to see Americans come into a friend's house and open the refrigerator like its their own.
We might say "make yourself at home" but we don't actually mean it.
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=j59BiLwdNO8 I think japanese counter part could be biker gangs(暴走族). But they don't have courage to fight russian skin heads. LOL biker gang's aim is not to attack foreigners. They are enjoying breaking traffic law and annnoying usual drivers. they enjoy seeing usual drivers dodge them. It is to show their "power". they know commons don't fight back. Is this similar to the situation in the train?
I find it rather shocking to see Americans come into a friend's house and open the refrigerator like its their own
I can't belive this.. I want to know "his" ethnicity and home town. By the way,,, at least He did in friend's house. If he had done it in the house of strangers or public place, He would have been just a theif. LOL
>>383 Wow, that video really depresses me. It would be funny if every other country ceased to do business with Russia; I'd like to see their faces then. I'm gonna hope that this is the view of a vast minority in Russia. Narrow-mindedness and stupidity breed forward racism.
I read the original posts and I believe it was real. It seems less likely that someone could keep up faking it that long, and with such a simple, straightforward, and not particularly interesting plot. When they made a manga and drama out of it, they had to spice it up in all sorts of ways that aren't reflected in the original account. I think if it was a fiction someone was writing on 2ch, it would have been more exiting, although it was still great fun to read this guy's posts and the reactions he got.
>When russian soccer national team lost to japan, >there was a riot of attacking japanese(including other nonwhites) and >firing cars. >no such thing happened when we lost to turkey. >when japanese national squad fought against russia, >i watched on tv a man with a record of detention in syberia root >for russia with russian flag.
Why is that? do russians have hostility to the Japanese?
Ah... I see. Are you russian? Is it their common view? How is Japan looked like in Russia?
I'm asking this question because I'm thinking about learning Russian languuage. But seeing the video of 'skin head' and now knowing some russians have hostility to Japan, I'm kind of scared and feel like not taking risk to go to Russia.
>>395 Their hatred is mostly for arabs, pakistanis, muslims, etc. That doesn't mean that you're exempt, though, but giving that up because of a terrorist threat (which they are) means that they've already won.
I was interested in Russia because I'm majoring in international politics, which makes me think establishing good relationship with Russia is going to be a big advantage both for Japan and Russia.
I'll take national exam for Ministry of foreign affairs next year, and Russia is one of the best interests. But at the same time safety and the security are are important aspect in choosing regions. I don't want to work being scared...
What is the climate like? Is it warmer in the south part of Russia?
I don't like Foreign Affairs. It's not very adcademic. I know why you ask me that question, but I'm not gonna tell you which school of which uniteristy I belong to. I may be Todai student or may not be. Sorry just to be safe.
Oh, and England has always been notorious for their football-mob, wreaking havoc wherever they go. They don't even go to cheer their teams on, they just go so they can get into fights afterwards.
>>395 When my mother traveled to Russia on a package tour, travel agent seems to have taught her whether it's o.k or not to do very in details. She had traveled overseas on a package tour several times before russia tour. Instructions were exceptionally many in Russia. traveling alone in russia is not reccomended for beginers, I think.
>>407 But they didn't set fire to cars and inverted them, right? They didn't attack restaurants and broke windows.
They were crazy but they attacked mostly another hooligan.
It's at least O.K for thugs to kill each other. I admit british hooligans were more notorious than italian ones. But today italian ones are more powerful. LOL
The whole hooligan problem is the main reason why I don't like soccer fans. That, and the fact that 99,99 % of them are loud and obnoxious all the time, and unable to even attempt to talk about something else than soccer.
>>382 >We might say "make yourself at home" but we don't actually mean it. As >>411 says; don't say it if you don't mean it.
Also, whether or not a person can actually do that, depends on how close they are. I have many friends who can freely access my fridge, and I can freely access theirs. Don't be so tense and formal. Relax.
Two friends of mine were crashing out in one of their houses, when an acquaintance of them dropped by. They thought quick on their feet, and decided to put on a porno before the acquaintance could make his way into the living room. Then they unzipped their pants, blocked the view with some pillows and proceeded to PRETEND that they were masturbating.
What did the acquaintance do? You guessed it; he sat down, unzipped his pants, and started beating it off. Wow.
NSC announces that a huge spy satellite has lost power and propulsion, there's no way to stop it, and they have no idea where it will smash into on Earth. Have a nice day
You can bitch about racism for hours and keep blaming each other 'till your face is blue, but it's merely exposing your fear and weakness in each ass. However, if you stay true to and keep faith in yourself, the absolute truth won't desert you. Y'all should know it by now.
>>421 Have you ever dicriminated against? It is very correct what you're saying and hope everybody facing the racism can think in that way. But I guess it is hard to do that.
Hmm. I don't know much about current celebrities, unfortunately.
In sports, there's Carolina Klüft. Extremely good in her field, and very popular (last I checked)...
And I think our younger princess, Madeleine, fits the description fairly well at least. (Do a Google Image search for "princess madeleine" if you're curious.)
Hey! princess madeleine has nice boobs! I just image-googled her and found several pictures of her wearing bikinis! She's getting sun-tanned on the beach.
>>437 Well, the big sister, our crown princess, is seeing someone who is supposedly an "ordinary guy". And our queen was a regular girl who our king met abroad.
(But no, I don't expect to marry into the royal family...)
>>438 How ordinary is ordinary? I suppose the guy is off-the-chart smart, well educated, superbly handsome, and everything. Do you still call him ordinary?
And why not? If you accidentally get into the royal family, it'll be beautiful.
>>438 You don't have any interest in Princess madeleine? Look. She's beautiful! She has a perfect figure, and good enough boobs! I'd apply to be her bf if i were you. Speak uo, boy! She still doesn't know where you are. You should let her know! There's a nice ordinary guy out there! Good luck!
princess madeleine is mesmerising. I strongly believe many people want to put their face in between her boobs or want her to hit them hard with her boobs! She rules!
wow... i finally has discovered the one of the best thread in 2ch! but.. i can't understand most of the reses. laugh at me ww i wonder if my English ability can be increased more. if that will have increased enough,i WILL come here again!
>>419 Sorry for the late response, I just woke up.
>Please tell me >what "crashing out" and "put on a porno" mean. >crashing out = sleep deeply?
"Crashing out" means "hanging out"/"being in a specific location, not doing much of anything". Basically, if you go to a friend of yours, and you two end up sitting in his living room talking or watching TV, for example, you are crashing out.
A porno is a pornographic video. You know, people having sex (fucking) while someone's filming it. "To put on a porno" just means that they put a porno into the VHS-player and started playing it.
I see many minors playing around. I want more intellectual adult atmospher...lol
I'm not a racist, but I found ethnic/race is not really important factor for the personality building. I used to think Asians are more sensitive and have delicacy but after dealing with some group of asian people who live in America and North america, I found they are almost the same as regular Americans. Very simple minded. The food and environment where you grow up have much effect on their personalities. I find Asian people who live in Asia more delicate and sentimental. Of course it depends on the individuals. Good people are good no matter where they've grown up, but I am talking about the tendency.
>>439 I don't really care much for royal families and such (seeing as it costs alot of tax payers' money to keep them satisfied).
I can't comment on stuff in Sweden since I don't really know much about their royal family, but I can comment on what's happening in Norway.
Princess Märtha Louise married a commoner named Ari Behn, basically a failure in most ways (drugs, cheating on her, a shitty writer, etc).
Still, Norway would be better off if the entire royal family just disappeared one day, and I hope they do. Why are we adhering to this old tradition that didn't even make any sense when it was created, today?
>>449 I'm no royalist, but do support the continuation of the British royal family (even though they're German). I do not support the fact they get obscene wages for doing very little, but their existence brings in a lot of money due to tourism. Other than that, the royal family is almost a joke, these days.
>>448 I was going to try and argue that being raised in a multicultural society helps people become more open-minded and less racist, in general. But then I thought about the UK (which, in general, is quite xenophobic, really) and that destroyed my argument. Need to think about this one a bit.
>>446 Basically, I have to do extra assignments (written exercises) in order to complete the course I took. I did not do all of the homework I should have, and I also failed a vocabulary test.
So this is my second chance. Do extra exercises, retake to vocabulary test, and take an extra oral exam. The written assignments are due tomorrow, which is also when the extra tests will be.
Learning words is *hard*. The exercises are not so difficult, but they take a lot of time...
>>449 But if you got rid of your monarchs, your domestic politics would just be like ours - full of knobheads and their faggy parties talking about family values and fighting terrorists and shit. And news reports where they interview the dumbest people on the street about important issues like gays and saving children from the internets. In other words, there is absolutely nothing where being interested in. Except if the government ever did manage to censor the internet and block all the porn, then I'd have to go to war. Maybe or paint a big vagina on the party headquarters. That sounds like a fun idea anyway :)
well royal family is important in one nation, IMO. they don't play the major role in politics or any other situations except the cultural events but just having them in our own country, being there decent is important. What should I say, whenever we see the prince and the princess have a wedding ceremony with the traditional costume on, we feel so proud to born in the country where we have emperor, prince, princess. It is like having parents in the family. It must be sad without the royal family.
>>448 That is still considered as a generalization, not a bit of intellectual approach. If it were about cultural differences, it would make more sense.
>>450 >multicultural society helps people become more open-minded and less racist
I do agree on this part. But I was emphasising about the race issue. Asian have very strong characteristics, such as polite, shy, caring. well what should I say, Asians are more sentimental and harmonious people, that was what I used to think. But after knowing some asians who live in U.S and Canada, I can't see those delicacy from them. So the character of ethnic is hard to inherit from the older generation once they move out from their own countries.
Yes, that's right. My antisocial behaviour is due to society. If everyone was like me, it wouldn't be unsociable to be antisocial because it would be the norm. But if this was the case, we would only be able to make babies through rape! How amazing!
Yeah, and I also think the absolute value of Asians in U.S and Canada is only one; that's being strong, tough is the most important thing in this world. That kind of value may come from their lives that required them to be in a struggle to survive in the foreign countries with nothing to rely on. So it's understandable. but sometimes it really makes me laugh. Being strong is everything...is too simple minded...lol
>>450 Probably because the UK is more of a class society, it's rather easy to develop class prejudice based on race as well, I think. But then, there is no country free of class divide on earth, so it's not that the UK is an exceptionally racist country or anything
I like Henry and william in UK royal family. At least they are good boys. Probably mother (late-Di)raised them with full affection. (be raised in a loving home? probably it is not though...)
>>466 Technically, survival instinct is reqiured for any being to live a life. 'Bottom line' doesn't mean 'everything'. I don't know how you got that idea. Maybe you are the one who lacks the factor?
>>447 I'm not >>419 but is the story true? Maybe I'm taking your story too seriously but I don't get the story.
First, the acquantance must get out of the room if he see them masterbating. If I were him, I would think the two jerking off is homosexual. Even if two men are friends, they don't jerk off together in my opinion.
>>472 Yes, the story is true. The point was to point out how stupid their acquaintance was. I would've also gotten the f*** out the instant something like that had happened. The other two were just pretending to masturbate, they didn't actually do anything. And yes, jerking off together is something I too consider being gay.
>>474 I see. But then, I don't understand the two pretending to be masturbating. What if the acquantances mastakingly recognized they were jerking off and spread rumor that the two were masturbating together in the bed, the two must have been driven in the corner. I think the act of two man pretending to be masturbating was very risky for themselves... Maybe this is besides the point though.. I don't get it.
>>468 I don't know about that. IMO, People should do good things because they want to, not because they fear death.
>>459 From my experience, the US thinks that courageousness and leadership skills are more important than strength. (although I guess that strength comes along with the package.) At least, that's what I was taught in school.
>>474 I learned the phrase 'jerk off in a circle' something like that in the slang book. Is it common in the US? I've never heard and imagined the scende of jerking off in a circle 車座になってオナニーする. It's beyond my imagination. why should you masturbate in a group? If gay, you can have sex with men, orgy instead of masturbating together.
>>480 That's false, the term circle jerk doesn't come from Norway. And the person writing that is most probably either Swedish or Danish. But it's funny, nevertheless.
>>476 They were about 15 years old, so I don't think they thought too much about the consequences. They were in the living room, so they weren't sitting in the same bed, lol.
Anyways, this is obviously not funny to you. Might be a cultural difference between Norway and Japan, what do I know.
Yes, bukkake, cum in the face one afther another is japanese invention. But it's not japanese tendency to perversion. Regulation of porn made japanese think another idea. we can't show penis and vagina clearly due to the regulation.
Regulation can be the mother of innovation. You learned.
>>483 'Lefse' is, well, let's call it a cross-over between bread and cake. It's to parts of dough with a mix of butter, kanel (I don't know the English word for this spice, it's a spice that's scraped off of Cinnamomum plants, if that helps) and sugar.
'Lutefisk' is a special fishtype that's first dried, then it's laid in a tank of caustic soda, then it's watered out again, before getting cooked.
>>488 I presumed you were american. cos your english is good. Are you by any chance scandinavian? It explains why jerk off fraud happapened in your neighbor..
>>486 Us Norwegians/Swedes/Danish mostly have a very good relationship, we just love to make jokes about each other, and no one is offended because we are all laid-back and not so tense. Take blonde jokes for example; Norwegians almost always substitute these by changing the word "blonde" with "Swede".
Of course, like in EVERY country there are some narrow-minded Swedes that don't like Norwegians for example, but they are a very select few. I think the relationship between our 3 countries is the best neighbor relationship of any countries in the world.
>>492 We were actually united, once (that means that Norway was the bitch of Denmark, then Sweden, :P). But we aren't racist countries, so that won't happen.
>>493 Unfortunately, yes. Every Norwegian I've told this to laughed his ass off, I guess it's a cultural difference of what one finds funny.
>>496 Blondes are supposed to be dumb, right (stereotype)? Norwegians make fun of Swedes being dumb, and Swedes probably make jokes about Norwegians being dumb. That is the joke, it's unrelated to blondes.
Aight, for those who can't get the basics, this might hurt too bad, considering where you are at now. It's quite hard to admit but easy to overreact, nonetheless, the inevitable truth lies heavily upon you.
50 CENT IS ONLY IN THE STRONG!!!
And I'm getting pretty bored with this, so Kira can pick it up or something.
>>506 Nothing really. I was just checking if it could get some interesting reactions, but it doesn't really seem to happen, so.. Just a few racist names and some projection of hatred or insecurity, I guess.
>>500 thanks. But sweden seem to be the country of the most high ratio of hair colour changing to blonde. So joke implys swedes are dumbs who love to look like dumbs?
You may think it's weird but when I was a teenager, I thought pubic hair of blond people are dark brown. (or black)
We asians have dark brown or black hair. That's the norm for us. Our pubic hair is dark brown or black. So somehow I can't imagine some people have blond pubic hair.
So even though thier hair is blond, I thought their pubic hair is dark brown or black. It's impossible to use anology that when somone's hair is blond then their pubic hair is the same color, which is blond.
You may not understand what I'm talking about but, I tried to explain.
>>495 I laughed too. But less likely to happen in japan.
He confirmed another fellows were masturbating, then proceeded to do so. If he had been japanese, he would have been in panic first.
I know his behaviour was strange even in norway so it can be joke in Norway. He was very calm and did masturbation as a matter of course. It's laughing point, I guess.
But extent of accepted kinky behaviour must be different.
For example, british laughed at streaking. I laughed at it too. But rarely happen and not accepted in japan. Streaking is one of british culture and forseeable thing.
That's new to me, although I have heard some men did it during Winbledon tennis tournament. I wonder if it's ok to go as far as to say it's one of British culture. Sorry for my ignorance.
>>514 Right on. He was a bit semi-retarded as well.
If my two friends had told anybody else about what he did, he would have been made into the town's laughing stock very quickly.
Any other non-homosexual normal person would probably have stopped in the door, turned around and ran away as quickly as possible, and convince himself that it was a bad dream.
Now over to something completely different:
The posters over at 4chan (you might have heard of it, it's based loosely on the 2chan system) have declared war against scientology, an evil cult that's ruined the lives of many people. How big is scientology in Japan?
>>517 Yes, I'm Japanese and after readign the link you put on there, I am begining to think it's thier unique culture. lol
I'm familiar with the last woman on the page. Someone here who is a big fan of bigg boobs in this thread used to show her photo here. Lynsey Dawn Mckenzie
>>518 Most of japanese learn it through tom cruise. You can see how it is minor in japan. I don't know real infuluence it is exercising in japan though.
>>521 It's just a figure of speech, meaning that he is a dumbass. He's not retarded or mentally ill, no. It wouldn't have been funny (for me, at least) in that case.
>>520 >>522 That's good news, hopefully it will stay that way. Whatever you do, stay the f*** away from it. The US' got a big problem with it now, and nobody can do anything legally against them without breaking the law. Also, many people that've tried to go against them have been killed.
>>525 As far as I know, no matter what you write in the name or e-mail fields, after you post something, a new page is shown. All you have to do is click back botton on your browser. Or close the window and then click on the name of the thread to open the thread. It's difficult to expolain in English. Got it?
So, do you guys wake up in the morning, and eat sushi for breakfast, then go to work, eat sushi for lunch, come home and eat sushi for dinner, then eat some sushi in the evening?
Please tell me about your food habits, or the food habits of a normal Japanese person, I should say.
I left Japan years ago but honestly, rice nearly everyday (Even after leaving Japan).
Sushi is sorta more reserved food. Some people like to compare kaiten sushi it to eating tacos at a taco shop in the US but sushi is/can be way higher status and the best sushi is goes into top class food...
I eat it every once in awhile. Honestly theres better Japanese food then sushi so its kinda weird that its the popular Japanese food outside of Japan...
>>529 Are you joking? sushi is rather expensive and rather formal food. You mean sushi equals rice? yes I eat at least one bowl of rice a day. It's very common to eat bread at breakfast too. It depends on person though. I think bread is easy to cook so it's popular in the morning.
>>533 Yeah, I didn't seriously think that you ate sushi for all meals. When you say that you eat at least one bowl of rice each day, does that mean that you eat only the bowl of rice, or do you have any accessories and sauce/ spices and such?
>>536 FYI I buy sushi at the super when I don't want to cook. I eat rice with miso soup every morning. yesterday's dinner: rice, chicken saute, mashed potatoes.
Ah, I got the impression that you actually just ate some rice, or just some slices of bread with nothing on them except for maybe butter. That would've been a drag, I can imagine.
>>547 I tasted natto beans once (without the gooey icky stuff), they tasted kinda like burned dough. I hope they taste better with that gooey icky stuff on them. What is the gooey icky stuff made of?
When I say 'gooey icky stuff', I mean the liquid in nattou. The stuff that isn't beans. The stuff that looks like glue. The stuff that gets stuck to your fingers if you touch it (as opposed to beans not getting stuck to your fingers if you touch them).
>>565 kikko man is the well known syoyu company also in japan. biggest company i think. its soysauce is for mass production. so people who are picky or more wealthy would buy another brand. but i don't know about the brand in details.
>>567 >>568 I see. It's often used when making wok and some sauces and such. Some people pour it over their rice, although I much rather eat my rice without it. How about you?
>>572 That reminds me of this news report I watched several years ago where a poor woman in a third-world country had made all her clothes from her own body hair.
Sorry to interrupt the ppl who are talking about natto.
I just want to comment about Asashyoryu.
I was just talking to my Mongolian friend that Asashyoryu did a good job yesterday even he couldn't get a victory. :] well...he did a bad thing and it is not forgivable since he is a sumo wrestler, who is like a god in Japan. He is awkward and cannot explain by words that's why he didn't even say a word in public. But he showed us how he loves sumo by his match. He could get a victory but I think that's a good result. So that he can keep up his work, exercise and show an enthusiasm towards sumo. As long as he keeps his enthusiasm towards sumo, he would strive. He is not Japanese, that is a big disadvantage, but I believe many ppl finally admitted him as a real warrior. I have some foreigner friends who are fanatic on sumo, I wonder why sumo won't broadcast in the world.
>>579 I've seen some Sumo wrestling tournaments broadcasted on Eurosports, so it airs all over the world (at some degree). I'm not trying to insult you or the sport, but I think many people think that it's too boring (slow-paced) with too little action.
"このスレを見ている人はこんなスレも見ています。" is written just about the window that I'm typing it in, and as far as I can tell it can be roughly translated to "The people that are looking at this thread are also looking at this thread." How does that make any sense?
>>580 Never seen them in the store. Maybe at Japanese store. I had it when i went to Japan years ago. BTW, Cupnoodle are sold everywhere even at the gas stations.
well, if you are interested in one issue, probably you are also interested in another related issue. it makes sense.....it is just an ad. just ignore if it'd disturb you.
"The people that are looking at this thread are also looking at "such" thread below." would be more precise. I personally don't check threads below though. I'not magibon enthusiasist. she is pretty though.
>>582 well that's up to you how you evaluate the excitement of the sport. some say, soccer is boring coz it drag us forever. even getting one point is hard for them and we easily get irritated. valleyball and marathon is the easiest sport to watch. Anyway, it is up to you how you find it's fun or not. I like sumo. I get some aesthetic feeling from there. Also it won't take much time of yours. hehe
>>589 Don't take me wrong, I like sumo wrestling way better than I like soccer, I just got the impression that the general western population find sumo wrestling to be boring.
hahaha. very japanese. wapanese would jump on this. I personally don't know what's good about sanrio characters. I can reach sanriao puro? land soon if i dare to....
unlike yakurt and calpis, coca cola is not good for health. but it's one of the greatest invention in beverage history. i have to admit. miracle taste.
Yakuruto...umm...I hardly ever drink it. Even if somebody insists, I don't want to. Calpis? maybe but I don't want it either. hahaha if you become older than 30, you slowly won't drink that kind of things anymore.
>>596 Also, if you ever drink coca cola from aluminum cans, chances are that the opener (the little thingy on top that you pull towards you to open the box) is made in Norway.
Hey guys. Do you wash your 'drink can ' before you drink it??? I've seen some news that reporting. when they are in store back room, Rats maybe peeing on them... Haha. I wash them before I drink it..
I just drink water. soy bean milk and vegetable drink in the morning. I drink coffe later. I rarely drink those kinds of sweet soft drinks. Maybe it is tasty for teenagers, but not for me anymore. It is useless to drink something that won't fit you. lol well ppl may drink some cheap drink by mistake but it would happen once a year.
>>609 I always use a glass if I'm drinking stuff from cans, just because I hate drinking from cans. You can't drink normally from a can. It's just not possible.
but there are thousands of drinks in the market, why don't you try? In Japan, there are a lot!!! All of them taste good. as for me, I would never try. I just survive with water. and I am very happy with it. LOL
Synopsis: Guy gets a 'fake check' spam mail (real mail). He proceeds to check it in. It was worth ~$95 000. He then gets the money, because you can't write on a check that it can't be checked in, in the US. I could really use $95 000 now, why don't I have his luck? : (
>>616 Today's cleaning facilities are so good that they can clean water with shit - or shit with water - I should say, and make it cleaner than clean, probably cleaner than the water you are drinking. :P
This reminds me of the faulty plumbing case in Tokyo University (I think it was there, it was some big university in Japan at least) where students had literally been drinking toilet water for over 10 years.
japanese are the race of having high standards of cleanliness. I'm even a verminophobia for myself. So I wash my hands with soap often. I go to toilet and just leave there immediately. Some Asian really love to talk about toilet things...it makes me sick....
>>620 Gah, I really hate to see people that don't wash their hands after using the toilet, or just sweep their hands under the running water for 0.5 seconds. It's disgusting, but many people do it.
What do you mean by 'recycled water'? Do you mean washing dishes, taking a shower, doing landry, etc. from cleaned toilet water? Or just using recycled toilet water over and over again for flushing toilet?
For the latter, I've heard some people in Japan do.
Hey Guys. Do you wash a canned food before you open it? Have you ever notice that alot of dusts on it, sometimes dead bugs. I always wash them before I open it. some of them in the store's back rooms too long and Rats maybe peeing on that. I don't want those thing dropps down into the cans I eat.
Bah you guys are all stupid. You people in Japan learn English in the most complicated way possible. Seriously, you don't need to use those big vocabulary words just to sound like a "fluent english speaker". If you start talking to an average American like that, people are gonna be like "wtf?" and probably piss 'em off. If you actually want to speak English, loosen up your mouth and stop thinking so hard.
中卒is not Japanese I think. He can speak pretty good english. "I love that music." I don't think Japanese don't say that way. "so so high ABOVE me." That's a native's speak.
That's just the way it is when you're learning a language. You do the best with what you have, and you try to communicate. It may sound a bit off - but if the goal is to actually say something, and you *do* manage to do that, then what's the harm?
If you spend enough time around people who speak the language natively then sooner or later the problem will fix itself. But in the meantime, at least you can *say* stuff.
By the way, in case anyone is interested, I failed my test miserably today. Yay? I'll have to take the course again...
>>647 Actually it was Japanese. (Hey, I'm posting on 2ch, right?) I suck at learning vocabulary, apparently.
I have taken German too, but that was a long time ago. It is of course closely related to Swedish, which makes it relatively simple for us to learn. I can still understand quite a bit if I hear it.
Boo-ya moddafukkas, I just got the result of a big Japanese test we had quite a while ago back: 100/100 kanji, 100/100 grammar, 100/100 write your own sentences. Fuck yeah muddafukkas!
It's just amazing how far model airplaning has come. Here's one you all will enjoy. This aircraft runs on four chainsaw motors. You can just imagine how much time, effort, skill and money these guys put into this thing. Just remarkable! I hope you all can bring it up. Totally worth watching, it runs about 7 minutes.
>>653 No worries, you've got a gaijin pass that you can show off here. I mean, seriously, I don't see any problem in you posting something in Japanese "in addition to" something in English, if you are talking about people starting yell at you for not posting in english. Someone's gonna answer your question or explain things in Japanese anyway. But only if you like to.
except that, anglo-saxon has been more vicious than german.
why bottom end of germanic people could have been so vicious and powerful. norweigian and swedish have brutal image. but they are historically harmless compared to british.
>>657 Alright, I'm gonna go ahead and ask a question then. Nobody can explain to me in a manner that makes sense, when you are supposed to use は and when you are supposed to use が, I just have to 'feel' my way forward. Also, there seem to be some cases where you can use both は and が, which is also confusing.
they call themselves anglo-saxon. but actually english has been deformed by other language, mostly by french. and their blood consists mostly of chelts and indeginous people, iberian.
they are half way mixed up creatures. is this their merit? mongrel between whites is good?
from the standpoint of Confucianism, vikings are the forefather and homeland. so they are the greatest.
anglosaxon is like garandchildren. they have to salute to vikings. no matter what they try, they can't ascencd this hierachy. so they try to take this complex on native americans, niggers, indians, and japanese.
>>662 You came up with the hardest one. lol To be totally honest with you, when I write a long and complex sentence, some は's and が's often need to be corrected afterwards so that it sounds more natural and less clumsy. I'm Japanese, but it's that intuitive sometimes. So if you can provide us with a specific example, it might be easier to explain the difference for you.
>>668 I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but calling a black person 'nigger' is extremely derogatory, and most blacks would probably try to beat you up if they ever hear you say it. It's just a warning, in case you didn't know.
>>673 It is generally accepted for one negro to call another negro a nigger, although people usually only do this in the ghetto, and when they're really close (homies, as they would say).
>>688 I didn't know that. God give me more than her. She has only two. Athletic ability and inteligence. I was given more, bad breath, hairy chest, athlete's foot, stinky armpits, you name it. I think I'm bleesed in terms of how many god gave me.
>>687 In case you haven't been aware, refering to people as "morons" is considered very rude here. The more politically correct term would be "Dumb American". I would appreciate it very much if you spoke in a more polite way from now on. Thank you.
>>696 Ahhhh shit. Are we talking about just learning more already-existing kanji, or are they planning to simplify Japanese kanji, much like Chinese kanji was simplified?
>>703 I just went through a couple of websites but didn't see anything about simplifying them. They will only update them with frequently used 2000 or so. Not that much of a difference in number.
gregory clark said that in the UK what university student guraduated from was not as important as in japan. what performance student earned is more impartant than what university student went to. so it means student can overturn alumini of ox bridge. the top of average university is praised more than the bottom of ox bridge.
>>714 Well, some Japanese characters are slightly simplified, while some are traditional. The simplified Chinese kanji are very, very simplified, and you can say that China is split into two; one part that uses traditional characters, and one part that uses simplified characters. If you know the traditional characters, you can understand the simplified kanji if you know the rules to the simplification, but it's very hard for foreigners to either learn only simplified, since then they would not be able to understand traditional, or to learn both, since then they get double the amount of kanji (which would be between 13-16000).
Imagine having two sets of Joyo kanji in Japanese: Both meaning the same, but looking very different. It would only be confusing.
The reason that (some of) the Chinese simplified their characters, was that there were unnecessary many strokes in very many of them, and many kanji looked alike. There are also unnecessary strokes in Japanese kanji, but not by far as many, and I really hope you don't decide to simplify them, simply because it would be a bitch for me to learn kanji if that happened.
>>714 Each letters in Kanji is simplified in modern China. As letters other than Kanji, Hiragana, is used in Japan, you feel japanese getting away with less kanji than Chinese.
>>716 As I've understood, a regular Chinese person knows about 6 000-10 000 kanji, while a regular Japanese person knows about 2 000 - 2 500, so yeah, you get away with much less.
>>717 A regular person? So, that would mean that an average Chinese would learn hanzis 3-4 times faster than the average Japanese learns kanji, right? (Assuming the same length of education.)
That sounds strange. If that is true, then either the teaching is way more efficient, or learning them is easier - perhaps from having simpler "grammatical" rules for what sort of characters can be written, and how.
Could not having to cope with multiple readings have something to do with it? Still, it sounds very high...
>>718 >Could not having to cope with multiple readings have something to do >with it? Bingo. While the Japanese have 1 bazillion readings, the Chinese only have one reading for each and every kanji, there are no exceptions.
I googled it, clicked on the first hit and this is what I got:
Because of this, the number of characters in Chinese writing is very high. It is estimated that to read a newspaper, one must learn about 3,000 characters. College graduates know about 6-7,000, and there are very few people who manage to learn over 15,000. Nevertheless, the actual number of characters is much larger. The Shuowen jiezi, the first surviving Chinese dictionary complied by Xu Shen around 100 AD contains over 9,000 characters, the Kangxi zidian or Kangxi Dictionary from the 18th century has nearly 47,000. The largest modern dictionaries have over 60,000. Even though most of these symbols are never used, they are still part of the Chinese script.
>>724 He's from Russia, learning Japanese. Very talkative. He'd been very active until the end of last year, as far as i know. Actually, he was the MVP award winner of the English board 2007.
>>724 He appeared for about a month. His first posts were all about his dream of moving to Tokyo (paid for by his father) and marrying a Japanese woman.
Hello my friends! My prestigious university held exams so I must have study more. My father said he buy me two cars, a watch, and three russian virgins if I pass test.
Hello 2ch! I am back from my venture in the mountains. I defeated the last of Stalin's followers, and I'm now a Russian hero. I splurge in women, so I don't want to come to Japan anymore. Goodbye forever, 2ch, you will forever stay in my heart.
I'm going to apply for the homestay in the U.S. Could you correct the following sentense?
I'm going to study a lot and hard so that I can transfer to a 4-year university, so I prefer the house from which I can go to school in a short time. And I have a headache if I take the direct sunlight for a long time, so I prefer the room which faces north. I hope that the family members are native English speaker and speak only in English. I'd like other international students who stay in the same host not to be Japanese. (Because I'd like to avoid speaking in Japanese.)
I am going to spend much time studying so that I can transfer to a 4-year university. Because of this, I prefer to live in a residence which is close to the school that I will be attending. I would much prefer a room that faces the north, this is because I get headaches if I stay under the sun for too long. I would prefer family members that are native speakers of English, and use only English to communicate. Because I want to avoid speaking Japanese, thus learning English faster, I would prefer that other international students staying at the same host family are not Japanese.

Your application was quite alright, I just fixed it up to look more formal. You might want to think twice about using it, though, seeing as you weren't the one who wrote it, and that it can give whoever's reading it a faulty impression of your English skills.
>>733 Thank you very much!! I understand that they want to know my English skills through this application, but I want to tell them my requests correctly and clearly so that I can stay in the desirable home.
>>736 Oh my god!! I didn't know that I should put "Sincerely"! I sent my E-mail many times to the school without putting it! Maybe they are thinking I'm rude...
>>737 Nah man, don't worry about it. You just aren't used to writing formal texts in English (which is the reason you're going to the US, isn't it), and if they can't understand that, they are fools. Don't worry about it.
Besides, people from the US aren't that worried about manners, they are actually quite unmannered themselves. ;P
>>740 maybe you should tell your host family about your life in japan. Like, if you go to a small school, or if you have a lot of family, or if you like sightseeing. If you like sightseeing, maybe they can show you some interesting things around the place you end up going to. :D
Since you're japanese, I think that your host family will probably expect that you will be shy (a stereotype), so maybe they will understand if you don't want to mingle with strangers too much. n_n
Good luck, and I hope you have a nice host family!! n__n
Come on, you can do better than that. Take a dump in his fridge, under his bed, AND in the bathtub. Then rape his mom, shit in her mouth, and skin her alive!
See how creative you can be? Isn't imagination fun?
Hi Keira. Welcome back home. Did you enjoy trip to Egypt? Did you have time to stop by at a KFC sphinx store there? That's what the sphinx is staring at for 5000years!!! 2-3miles away. I've been told…haha..
>>745 Petra is an archaeological site in the city of the same name. This area was the capital of the Nabataean people. It's very different from other cities, because a lot of the structures were actually carved into the cliff-faces (the most famous of these being the monastery, from the first century BC). http://livo.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/petra-castle.jpg
I've never been there, so keira will have to tell you more about it.
>>760 Did you know one of MRirian's youtube videos hit a record of 1.5 million veiwers? She is really wise. She used 4ch riff-raffs to get famous. She provoked them by saying she loves Japan ( I know she expected them to get angry. They don't like weeaboos. ) But they didn't know the more angry they got, the more viewers Magi got. Magibon applied youtube partner program beforehand. Guess how much money she earned by the program? Get quick rich!
All MRirian did/does was just stare at the camera, but she's manipulated anti-weeaboos and got what she wanted! MRirian is the winner.
>>761 I don't really have an opinion of her. I'm not so sure this manipulation you're talking about is intentional, though, since she obviously has a real interest in Japan (which is why she's catering towards the Japanese). As far as I'm aware, the Partner Program works on the principle of adverts being embedded into some of the videos (InVideo ads). These are less obtrusive than banner ads, because they are not static and you don't see them all the time. This only works if the viewer actually clicks the ad, though, just like normal systems, so as long as her non-supporters don't click, they're not helping her earn. On the positive side, these in-video ads do get clicked 5-10 times more frequently than banner ads, and so it quickly adds up anyway.
Wise? It'll come with age and experience. Cute? Not really my type. Big boobs? What?
>>761 When it comes to the topic about MRirian, he's supposed to be second to none. But he prefer to be in the shadow. So he won't say anything about her in public. To say the least, however, we know that he's a big fan of her big boobs. So your best bet would be to keep informing him of what happened to MRirian. I know he appreciated it deep inside.
>>763 I'm not >>761 but you are always no-nonsense. I think it's partly because of your character, partly because you are not completely anonymous like us.
To put it bluntly, you talk about boobs in your real life with your boddies, right? What's called locker room conversation. No? I know all I can expect is presentable response so my questions above is useless.
I thought you learnt that a long time ago. Why did you keep asking him the same dumb questions over and over again? You just keep getting the same answers that you are not satisfied. Need more lessons? Think people, think.
>>773 It's a very British attitude to keep sexual opinions to one's self. A lot of us feel uncomfortable talking of such things, even to friends, though we will often take subtle glances and perhaps make comments such as "she's nice...".
On the way up to Stirling by train, there were two businessmen, chatting about whatever it was they did. Eventually, they grew bored, and one made a pillow from a piece of clothing and napped, while the other unfolded a copy of 'The Sun' (tabloid newspaper) and started flicking through it. Of course, he got to page 3 (I'm sure you know the significance of this) and stopped. He then reached into his pocket, pulled out a pen, and started drawing clothes on the topless model.
So you're right, it's mainly due to character. Also as you said, part of it is due to not being truly anonymous. But then, how do you know I haven't also made some anonymous postings?
Life is OK for me. I overslept badly today, but that's OK. I'm sitting in my bed eating a bit of chocolate and reading on forums about upcoming protests against Scientology.
>>783 But I was just answering the post... anyway, I wish we'd have things like that on TV here. Looks fun to try out too... it's a shame our society is so obsessed with health and safety. I miss shows like Takeshi's Castle and Ultra Quiz too. Who are the people in the clip? I think I only recognise Tunnels.
And no, it's not legal to upload it, but the television network probably hasn't asked them to remove it, so until then, it doesn't really matter.
>>787 Most of them are comedians, of course. The problem is... we have so many comedians that TV shows are all similar I mean, we have so many quiz shows that are not so different from each other, not so creative.
Concerning healthy, we have also the same type shows, but the Japanese TV stations sometimes base their info on false data so the info they offer is crap.
How can you interpret the story as an uho story... I'm amazed by your stretch of imagination and creativity. But I know what you mean. You are just trying to be funny and that works.

I can't sleep. A part of my body is sore to death. Doctor perscribe sedatives but it doesn't work at all!!! I feel like screaming. Actually I screamed a bit and punch tatami mat again and again to releave my frustration.
Being able to post here means I'm in the extreme of pain like I experienced few days ago but still, Pain I have now is big enough for me not to sleep. If I can't sleep, that means I haven't slept for two whole nights.
I've been in pain like this for the past two weeks, I got shot in my arm consecutive days even on past Saturday and Sunday, when hospital is not in operation for usual patients. Shots doesn't work so I took IV to cure my condition and it worked and from morining (after IV) up until I go to bed my condition was OK but I lay on futon and tried sleeping, Pain hit me and now I can't sleep. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. Ouch ouch ocuh.... continus waves of pain coming to me...
>>745 That's right! I went there! it's really amazing! the rocks make everything a beautifully creamy orange and pink. As you see, he seems to be dancing near a gorge. Everyone has to walk 2.5 miles through this huge gorge to get there.(although some people will take a chariot, and some people offer horse and camel rides! I took a horse for a while.) Behind him is the "treasury" as it's called, and it's the most famous part of Petra because of the carvings it has! But it wasn't actually a treasury in it's time, except that it used to hold religious relics. There are also houses carved out of the rock as well. There is also a ampitheatre and tomb/courthouse. It was so awesome! Jordan is famous for having the lost city of Petra, but because it's so close to Israel, it has a lot of "holy land" type of sites too.
>>748 lol! I saw that! The KFC in Giza! It's fairly far away from the shinx/pyramids site, but the KFC had an upstairs, so I imagine it had a great view of the sphinx Egypt was wonderful, thanks for asking.:D
>>778 I kind of wish it was like that here. >.> The media, and everyone always seem to be very open about sexuality because it's "natural and healthy!" And if you get uncomfortable about it, then you're considered a prude. But really, I'm just tired of hearing about it all the time! At least in college people don't care so much.
My doctor told me you can get hospitalized if you want and actually the idea of being hospitalized has come across my mind for the past few weeks. actually, even if I'm at home I can't do any thing productive because of the pain so it's the same as being hospitalized.
But I declined the offer and sugest the doctor I got IVed instead of shots in my arm. 29th's morining I tried first IV and it worked until few hours back and now I lay on my futon and I can't sleep because of waves of pain!!!!!!!!!!!
I suggest the doctor I tried IV and we decided I go to the hospital every day and get IV until Friday and see how my condition will turn out to be.... I was happy because my pain was reduced after the first IV yesterday but now the pian surges me again and again...
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Maybe doctor told me to get hospitalized but I don't want that. There are a few reasons for that..
>>798 801 Thank you. Pain killers doesn't work. Yesterday the doctor perscribed stronger painkillers than before and I put it into anal but it doesn't work. When painkiller don't work, I wouldn't allow them to be called painkiller.....
I'm neet so how can I pretend as if I have a job when hospitalized and asked by nurses my job. Actually I was hospitalized two years ago for a month because of the same desease and some nurses asked me what line of work I do as a conversation starter. I lied and I answered I do a job using PC at home but one of the nurses tried to go into details and asked me further questions. That was torture.
You may think it's stupid but that's oine of the reason I don't want to get hospitalized.
Another reason is no one will vist me to the hospital except my parents. Nurses would think I have no friends and acquaintanses realated to my job. That's a serious problem to me.
>>808 I can't laugh at your joke now under this pain.(feel better then when I posted 796, though. ^^ You can tell if I'm jobless or self-employed easily if they see I am covered by national insurance.
The nurses are only asking to be friendly. I think you should just tell them the truth, since lying will only make you feel worse. Maybe the nurses will be kind and be your friend while you are there.
I'm seriously thinking that I'll ask my parents to bring some different bouques of flowers to my room in hospital as if it'll look like they are brought by different persons.
Lots of troubles come up when you live a neet's life and face emergency situation. sigh.
Too many posts in a short period of time prebvented me from posting another post because of 2ch's precaution of posting spamer.
>>811 Thank you for your response but I'm sure I would lie if I got hospitalized again because chances are I would get hospitalized on the same floor as whenI got hospitalized two years ago and nurses I met two years ago must be still work on the same floor.
I know I sound rediculous and stupid but I am serious. But I know I'm whining and sounds like a dog with its tail between its legs. By the way pain has reduced quite a lot now but I'm sure that's thanks to painkiller. I put it in my anal more than two hours ago. oh my.
>>813 No Japanese know the meaning of the word. I have seen itfor the first time in my life. You should remember more practical one unless remebering it is not for a test.
I still can't sleep so I found a funny joke about painkiller on the net and translated it in English. Did you get the punch line? How do you like it?
<suppository joke> I took my underwear off and directed my butt at my doctor. He put his hands on my shoulder.
Doctor:Are you ready? Just relax. Me: Ouch... ----I felt like several suppositories were put into my ass by him-------- Doc: Keep using this suppositories every morinig for a week. Me: Thank you, doctor.
Next morning, I tried to put a suppository in my ass on my own as instructed but I couldn't make it. So I decided I asked my wife to help me with that.
Wife: OK. All I have to do is put this into your butt, right? I got it. Ready?
She picked the suppository up with one hand while she put the other hand on my shoulder.
At that very moment, I screamed "Ahhhhhhhhaaaaa!!!!"
Wife: What happened? Did it hurt? Sorry, hon. Are you all right? Me: Noooooooooooo!! Not that!! Now I recognized something!!!! Oh My Gosh!!! Wife: What?! What on earth have you recognized??? Me: At that moment at the hospital, my doc was putting his both hands on my shoulder...........
>>824 lol, sorry, i didn't know that anyone was actually waiting for it. >.> I've been waiting for the weather to get better so that I can walk to the store (I don't have a license). But now that it's clearing up, I might be able to go today after class. n_n (I carpool to school)
are there many things i have to have besides a webcam? I think i have to get a video editor too, right?
>>825 I'll probably never get the chance to use it in any conversation. :( I also like the word 姦しい, just because of the kanji (hilariously discriminatory).
>>827 Maybe if you're a native, but not if you're a stupid dirty foreigner asshole like me.
I'm really sorry that I don't know much about editor things, but a frend of mine who used to do vlogging said he didn't edit videos because he wanted it looked more live. As far as I know, though, you need to put together what you say within 10 min on Youtube.
Have you guys ever heard of "Mokkori Baka Ichidai"? It's a little old show that used to air very late at night several years ago; in the show, they put this guy with a fake huge boner near a targetted actress/idol and direct him to get her attention. I thought this show was a pretty good one, totally stupid but hilarious. Sorry, no sub, but you don't really need it. There's a bunch on Youtube.
>>822 I'd choose a good thread for learning japanese, if I were you. If people have a good discussion, then it's likely that they use proper language and correct kanjis to make sure they sound good and convincing. That's why.
>>830 You sound like you have a knack to remeber what a kanji means. That makes you remeber kanji easier.
Let's see 男, man for example. This kanji can bedevided to two parts. 田 and 力, meaning rice paddy and power/strength respectively. A person who use power/strength at rice paddy is man, 男 to take care of rice paddies.
I'm going to go Australia for studying English for one and half month. In AUS it's summer, very nice season. I expect it's fun and my English progress.
I've heard that in many cases when studying abroad, you end up speaking more of your native language than you would in classes, but maybe that's only true of English, and when doing it with other students as part of a program.
If you're on your own in the target country with nothing but your own language skills to save you, that must be a tremendous learning experience.
I lack confidence to try to break out of it. It's a vicious cycle. It takes courage I think, and a strong "kick in the butt", from an internal or external source.
But you can't just sit around waiting. You've got to do something. Anything. At least that's what I tell myself. (-__-)
>>851 Sigh... It's sad. Even after I get over this sever pain, my neet life is still the same. To me, it's the matter of being neet with severe pains or being neet without sever pains. The point is, with or without pain, I'm still neet.
I have just slept less than 2 hours ovetr two nights and took a nap for about an hour yesterday, I think I'd better go to the hospital by using public transportation. I thought I'd go there by bicycle but lack of sleep can lead to an accident.
>>856 It's hardly that serious, a lot of people have insomnia and do just fine. He might need some medical attention, but urgent medical attention for not being able to sleep is taking it a bit far in my opinion. When you haven't slept for a week, you should be considering getting some urgent medical attention.
Question to all the sushi lovers out there: When you eat sushi (with wasabi and soy sauce), do you mix the wasabi into the soy sauce, or do you just leave the wasabi at the side and eat some wasabi after you put the sushi into your mouth? Which method do most people use? Are both accepted?
Also, when you are dipping your sushi into the soy sauce (I'm talking about the sushi type with fish on top of rice, not rice rolled around it, for example), do you dip the rice or the fish part down? What do most people do?
Sorry, I'm asking too many questions about Japanese foods. ;_;
>>854, 856 I'm back from the hospital. It takes less than 30 minutes to an from hospital and I didn't get involved in any traffic accident. If I can't sleep tonight or in the daytime today, I'll take but to the hospital nad my chance of getting hospitalized will increase with my condiotn not being able to sleep for three nights because of the pain.
Today is Wednesday. I don't know if what day in a week influenses the number of patients but patients to day were much less compared to yesterday and the day bofore yesterday. I don't have to wait my turn to get IV.
A nurse who took care of me is middle aged woman and there's nothing fancy about it. Yesterday, a nurse who took care of me is a young woman and looked pretty. But she was not so affable to me. All nurses wear a mask maybe to avoid getting flu themselves so who knows? Maybe she is ugly when she takes off her mask.
I really don't want to get hospitalized. I hope I can sleep in the daytime or tonight. I can't sleep now because I have to take madicine after eating lunch. It's too early to eat lunch.
>>861 In my case, neither of the two ways you described above. Usually there is wasabi put between rice and fish so the amount of wasabi is enough for me. So all I do is just put the sushi into soy sauce and eat it.
>leave the wasabi at the side and eat some wasabi after you put the sushi into your mouth? I've never seen anyone who eat sushi this way.
>mix the wasabi into the soy sauce I think this is commn way of eating sushi.
>do you dip the rice or the fish part down? I think most people dip rice part.
When you come to Japane try, revolving conveyor type sushi shop. They serve economical price of shushi and still they tastes good. Not only sushi, but dessert such as a piece of cake, coffee jelly, castard puddig, decorated fruits go round and round in a shop. You pick up any item you want. The plate is color-coded and you can tell how much each item cost from the color of plates.
And if your favorite sushi item is not going around on the conveyor, then order it to a sushi chef in side the conveyor. He makes your favorite item right off the bat.
But remember, these type'ss sushi shop's(conveyor type) chef is not skilled and experienced like the ones at the traditional type's sushi restraunt. But I don't care cause I can't tell the differences.
>>862 Welcome back man. It's now 3:30 AM, and I'm still up.
I'm glad to hear that everything went well.
What kinds of pain are you experiencing? Where does it hurt? In the back, your feet, your head, everywhere? How long have you had these pains? I'm sorry to hear your story, it really sucks, and I'll vouch for you to get better.
>>865 I heard that you have to have a special license to prepare sushi (that takes years to get), because if someone who doesn't know his stuff tries making sushi, you can practically die if you eat it because it isn't clean. Is this just a lie?
>>870 Wow, he was fast. But, can't you just NOT eat the liver and be fine anyway? Maybe if you cut into it and it spills out, the rest of the fish is also contaminated by the poison, that would make sense.
>>866 Thank you. 3:00 AM? I wonder where you live. It's pain in my foot. Things have been good since I got out of the hospital two years ago. But since the end of last year, I began to feel slight pain again.
As the day passes, it has become severer and now it's so sever that I can't sleep. Now I can't walk the way I did. I limp. I don't mean to sound too serious. I just want you guys to read my post as an entertainment.
Well, I ate lunch and took medicine. My pain is moderate now but I don't think I can sleep. I think I have to put painkiller in my anal before I try daytime sleeping. Imagine a man putting a painkiller into his anal in the broad daylight trying to get some sleep. It's too miserable.
Talking about painkiller, another reason I don't want to get hospitalized is that I feel shy about having nurses put a pain killer into my anal. lol My hairy anal that is. What about a bit of poo left among my anal hair. It can be a talk of a nurse station.
I know they handle that as a professional but I still feel shy about having young nurses take care of the painkiller putting in my anal. Last time I was in the hospital, I insist I do on my own and actually I did it myself. This time, it seems like more painkiller are used if I am hospiutalized so I don' think I can keep insisting I do it on my own.
Did you break your foot ~2 years ago, or did the pain just suddenly surface? I know that these humble words probably don't mean shit over the internet, but I hope you get well again soon. Did the doctors say anything about you being able to walk normally again?
>>874 Ah man, that sucks. I'd be very embarrassed if a female were to stick pills up my (hairy) ass too. Can't you get painkillers that aren't taken through the anus?
>>875 Oh you are the guy asking the Kanji question and sushi's, too maybe. If I go into details further, my identity can be revealed, so I have to stop here about my desease. But I can tell it's not due to broken foot or anything. My pain came from a very rare reason which is peculiar to me two years ago. After two years absense the pain has come back to me.
I will be able to walk like normal if cure succeeds and I know my doctor's cure will work. Problem is that doctor is not very sure what is the best and shortest way to cure my pain and desease so he is doing trial and error now.
First he tried injection, now IV. He suggested I get hospitalized the other day but I told him I don't want to get hospitalized so I have to go to hospital every day to get IV at least until Friday. If the IV doesn't work, maybe I have to give up and will end up hospitalised. Oh my..
>>876 The doctor perscribed another painkiller, too that is taken from your mouth. But I think painkiller taken from anus is more powerful and get effective faster than the one you take form your mouth.
>>881 I got shot shots for 5 days or so in a raw and they didn't work so the doctor changed to IV now. The shots and IVs I took don't work as painkillers, by the way, they are what the doctor considered to work to imrprove my condition.
Yes, other than pill-type and anus-insert type painkillers, there is Morphine or something but I think the dose of morphine is crusial so, I think morphine must be given to me only when I get hospitalized. Until then I have to settle for pill-type and anus-insert type painkiller.
Me and a couple of friends were walking around outside throwing snowballs when we were younger. It was evening, and suddenly 3 lights started shining on the mountain wall and moving around. It was a totally desolate area, and we couldn't find out where the lights came from for the lives of us. They disappeared for a while, then came back, then disappeared forever. I still don't know what we saw.
>>923 Oh my god, sorry for laughing but a Japanese calling it 'scientorogy' is just so god damned funny (it's spelled 'scientology'). Hahahahahaha (no offense).
But seriously, don't joke about that. Scientology is a dangerous cult that's killed alot of people, and ruined the lives of even more people. Almost all their members are fully brainwashed. Don't ever go near any scientologists, if you value your life.
Breaking news. Chinese poisonus food. Careful checking if frozen foods in your fridge is made in china and pay maxmum attention if it's ok to eat them. Don't let yourself killed by poisonus foods.
Well, the guy on the verge of getting hospitalized has just waken up. I slept for 6 and half hours. Not bad. To think I haven't slept basically for two nights, the amount of hours is not enough. I hope I can sleep tonight, too. Time to have dinner.
Arrgh, the idiots at my university don't understand the concept of different character encodings. Whenever I try to send something from my webmail account, it comes out garbled as HTML entities. (That is, 「漢字 カナ」 becomes "漢字 カナ")
So I told the support staff, and they replied: "We have tried sending mails from and to the webmail, and we didn't see any problem."
What's going on? Either those retards sent just "testing 123" type messages; I doubt they they really tried to break things, or they just sent HTML attachments around and it never occurred to them. Sigh...
My webmail account at my university, doesn't seem to support different character encodings at all. They just apparently convert everything to Unicode and wrap it in HTML encodings.
This means that anytime you try to write something in a "non-Western" language and send it in a mail, it comes out as number code soup. Unless you send only HTML mail...
Which is pretty bad, for a university who intends to specialize in "odd" languages. (Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Arabic ...)
1. Which is correct? ・people need the cover of another perfect wonder Where it's so white as snow ・Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder Where it's so white as snow Gramatically speaking, I think the former is correct, but I found out many lyric sites tell it's the latter.
Another "which is correct?" quesion... ・ well one small town to decide on ・ well once more time to decide on From the sounds I caught, I think the former is correct, but then the lyric doesn't seem to make sense..
Could you correct the following sentences, please!!] This is what I'll e-mail to a homestay company.
I wrote on the online application form that I'd start my homestay on March 1st and end on June 1st, but I'd actually like to stay for more than one year. In this case, could I extend the length of my stay without paying the placement fee every 3 months?
I have another question. If I arrive at the host's home on February 29th, could I pay the fee for that day (February 29th) at a dialy rate? (or do I need to pay the whole February's fee even if I stay just one day in February?)
>>940 Pain in my foot comes and goes then comes and goes. This cycle is repeated several times a day. When I managed to sleep in the daytime, the pain was pretty light so I successfuly fell into sleep and luckily was able to sleep for 6 hours.
Now pain is a bit stronger and I don't think I can sleep even if I lay on futon now but not so sever to the extent I can't help but screaming. I'll wait and if the pain reduced, I quickly do the task, which is to insert a pinkiller in anus, and then try to sleep. It seems like my painkiller is too weak to cope with pretty strong pain.
When the duration of the max pain get longer, and I decide I can't take it anymore, I'll get into hospital. Until Friday, I'll see if IV works or not.
I'm assuming you're the guy I helped out the other day, so I'm gonna be nice again. :P
I wrote to you using the online application form, where I stated that I would start my homestay the 1st of March and end it the 1st of June, but I would actually like to stay for more than one year. Is it possible to extend the length of my stay without paying the placement fee every 3 months?
I have another question: If I arrive at the hosts' home February the 29th, I assume that I will not have to pay for the entire month, just for that day. Is this correct? Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
名無しさん
PS (don't include this in the letter): Never use contractions when writing formal letters. I'm > I am, I'd > I would, I'll > I will, etc.
Alright, I've held out for a long long time now. It's 5 AM, and I'm going to bed. Good luck with your application, and good luck to you, Mr. Smertemann (that's the nick I've given the poor fellow with foot pain).
Hey, I'm getting better at inserting a painkiller in anus day by day. Anyone who wants me to insert it in your anus, raise your hand. Professional painkiller insert man is just a click away.
>>953 Probably because the scandal came to light on Youtube, right? They should do pay attention to food safety before taking action to ban any access to the site. lol
This morning I was informed that YouTube has been blocked in China. I had not noticed it yet, because I access the internet through a proxy most of the time.
Put a painkiller at 2:30 and tried to sleep but the pain which is like stinging needles prevent me from falling asleep. It's like numbness and tingling in really bad way.
This is not maximum pain though, if it's maximum, I don't bring myself to post here. All I can do is moan and roar in pain banging tatami mat with my fist again and again. The max pain lasts 30 minuites at the longest. Sometimes it's impossible to stay at the same spot feeling the pain, so I limp around my house to put my attention away from the excrusiating pain, saying, "Shiiiiit ... F**K, Damnnnnn," equivalants of those cuss words in Japanese.
Now it's sure the painkiller doesn't work well enough to lead me to sleep. I wonder if IV I take is working, too. I think it's better than a shot cause since changing from a shot to IV, I haven't experienced the max pain. When I see my doctor on Friday, I have to tell him that I need more powerful painkiller and that IV seems to be effective a little bit. Maybe I need a more effective IV.
I hope he won't prompt me to get hospitalized earnestly.
>>963 I want the degree of Zayaku inserting. My PhD thesis's title would be "The most effective way of inserting Zayaku in hairy anus 24/7 curing up in the most miserable way."
sighhhhhh. My doctor says painkiller into anus is three times a day at most. That means, 8 hours has to pass to insert next painkiller. The last time was 2:30AM so I can't insert now. The pain is not so sever though. But sever enough not to let me sleep.
I could enjoy some dramatic transition like your anus gets ripped and starts bleeding so bad you call an ambulance for help, but it takes so long to get there, yet you keep posting while getting delirious. May your butt feel better.
>>967 Who do you think I am? I have PhD of inserting a painkiller. I never scratch my anus nor make it bleed when inserting it. Don't forget my anal is protected by hair around it, either. Besides it's not my anus but my foot that hurts in the first place.
Maybe I'd better go back in futon to grab some sleep until 7:00. Better count "one hairy anal, two wrinkled anals..."
everyone, listen to me. i love my ex-boyfriend though now i have a boyfriend who already keeps with me for about 2 years. of course, i love him, and i want to marry him, but i am always thinking of my ex-boyfriend who is my first boyfriend. i dreamed of him yesterday, i cannot forget him. He also has a girlfriend now. he sometimes calls me and we talk a lot.
>>972 You betray your boyfriend in your mind. You even masturbate thinking your ex-boyfriend. You are a naughty girl. If you want to get married with your boyfriend, do so.
>>977 Just face it. The only reason why a guy tries to get close to his ex again is he's now uho and interested in her boy, and he would say whatever it takes to get to the real target, that is your boyfriend. You will lose everything.
>>980 Most likely yes. He must've been following you guys and he felt jealous towards him first, but now his feelings have changed into twisted ones. This happens alot.
>>982 He's smart enough to cover his newly found part of him. That's it. He would not admit it now, even if you forced him to. When he does, you'll be left alone...
>>983 you enjoy kidding me, don't u? that kind of things cannot happen. and my current byf cannot betray me! ok, buti should forget my ex, so it would be better to assume he is gay.
