TOEFLR - Test of English as a Foreign Language Special TOEFLR Paper-Based Test administration scheduled for June 3, 2007 in Japan and Korea
ETS will offer a special, one-time testing session of the TOEFLR test in Japan and Korea on June 3, 2007. High demand and our desire to assist Japanese and Korean students who want to study abroad were the main reasons for offering this special testing administration.
The test will be offered in a paper-based test (PBT) format. Scores from the paper-based test are as valid as TOEFL internet-based (iBT) scores and will be accepted by universities around the world.
Applicants in Korea Online registration for candidates registering to take the TOEFL PBT on June 3 will open after 3:00 p.m. local time (Korea) on Tuesday, April 17. This special administration will be held in eight test centers in Seoul, one center in Taegu and one center in Jeonju.
Applicants in Japan Online registration opens on Friday, April 20. This special administration will be held at test centers in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo. Test takers can not change their test date or test center because of the special nature of this one-time test offering. Walk-in registration will also not be allowed at test centers for this test. Those already registered for the TOEFL iBT test may not transfer to this pBT test.
ETS is improving access to TOEFL iBT testing in many ways. We are adding seats at current test centers located in universities and growing into other educational settings. Soon we will also offer the test through non-educational sites that offer high-quality and secure administrations for the exam.
ETS will continue to review the test-taking needs in Japan and Korea to make sure that there are enough seats for anyone who wants to take the TOEFL test.
