'A biologist, a statistician, a mathematician and a computer scientist are on a photo-safari in Africa. As they're driving along the savannah in their jeep, they stop and scout the horizon with their binoculars.
The biologist: "Look! A herd of zebras! And there's a white zebra! Fantastic! We'll be famous!" The statistician: "Hey, calm down, it's not significant. We only know there's one white zebra." The mathematician: "Actually, we only know there exists a zebra, which is white on one side." The computer scientist : "Oh, no! A special case!"'
North Korea will threaten all the world(top among them: Japan) with nuclear weapon. If it successfully creats nuclear bombs, then the nation will sell some of them to their friendly nations, terrorists, and other in favor of NK. This is a big problem. NK is a kind of nation which makes fake money and illegal drugs.
I'm more worried about NK associating with terrorists, which I think is not denied, because as things stand now, both china and russia condemn NK's attempt.
One thing I have in mind is that North Korea will go rampant when it is pushed aside and becomes solitary, though we can't let NK creat nuclear weapons. This is a stalemate..
It seems obvious that the economic sanctions against NK has been working, so i really hope that the nuke test this time is their futile last-ditch effort, the prolonged stalemate gets broken and the abductees will be returned.
>>39 you may be right in that people make nuclear bombs to show the country's power and presense to the world. i think though, if they divert such great expertise to e.g. medicine to cure very very difficult diseases, they will be far better repected and appreciated, and show strong presence in the international society~~
>>44 What NK thinks is important is survive. In other words, to show America that NK should be treated better, they will do anything. They aren't interested in contributing to the world medical development.
>>48 my point exactly. i think if one wants to survive and to be treated better in the international community, the nation should contrbute instead of resorting to making nuke bombs and threating other nations.
>>43 America, Russia, China, UK, France, India, Pakistan... And finally, North Korea joined the Nuclear group. One difference is, as I said, Kim Jon Ill may actually use the weapon.
>>51 It's up to China and Russia. They've supported North Korea. If they still can't change their mind to criticise Kim Jon Ill, he'll keep doing what he's doing.
>>52 You're right. But I don't have the slightest idea how Kim's mind moves. What he's done is bleach of national law, as I pointed out: Fake money, illegal drug, etc. So what we think is suitable may not make sense to NK.
>>50 The news says Kim Jon Ill is waiting for the democratic party to take over. NK thinks without Bush administration, the current regime can last long.
>>52 agree. and problem also is that he never cares about people living in NK, so, yes, the economic sanctions will have an impact, but people already living under the devastating situation will suffer more so than Kim Jon Ill. and i don't think Kim Jon Ill cares even if Nk people die of hunger unless he is starved. but then as someone mention, he may go rampant if the impact of sanctions really gets to him.
>>58 That's what I think! In fact, NK people are suffering under Kim's regime. The best solution I've come up with is remove the dictator, but we can only hope some kind of recolution will take place in NK, though currently such things won't happen. NK's citizens are put under complete control now.
RWARRRR~~~!! I forgot my appointment...I lost my memo that said the time and place....grrrrr!! I don't have her cell phone number either...grrr...crap...=_="
>>74 K-tan looks exotic and pretty, different from the other three. About school girl, however, she's popular because her boobs, tits, and nipples translate to Medama no Oyaji. You'll feel like being gazed at in front of school girl.
>>90 Good Morning America is really boring for me, but it might be good for somebody trying to pick up English or what American culture is like. (Please don't think that all Americans are like those on Good Morning America, though.)
>>115 Thank you for responding. What TV show do you reccomend? I love Conan O'brien's late night show@NBC. It's really funny. I can't watch it without LOL.
What North Korea has been careful about is America. On the newspaper, an American insists that America should turn its eyes to North Korea and hold meetings with it instead of punishment.
>>117 I don't know about it, but his son, Jon Nam, got caught up in Japan when he visited Tokyo Disney Land in secret. Perhaps he used a fake passport to land Japan.
Remember, Japanese people WERE brainwashed to believe Tennoh is God or something. before WW2 became over. Now Japan had changed. I wish NK people will change too.
>>137 i think media manipulation is more suitable to describe those types situations. there is a danger in any government in any country to control or conceal information and let general public know only what the governemnt wants to convey. the cause could be anything, such as emperor, king, punish the evil for world peace etc.
I love the Japanese Royal family, even though i do not think they are God. I also do not think Japanese people in the past was brain washed. They just adored Showa Emperor so much and they were so proud of the power of Japan against the western world.
Why do ordinary NK people who are supposed to be brainwashed want to get over the border line and ask for help? Most people are suffering from hunger, and still they can't live without pretending to believe Kim Jon Ill is the only salvager.
>>138 Please read the Constitution of Japan, there, Emperor is stipulated as national symbol. Textbooks for elementary school kids say the same thing. just so you know.
>>104 Heh. I do keep pointing out that I just look plain and boring, and not pretty. Even though not looking japanese does make me look "exotic" in your eyes, I guess. I'm no blue-eyed blond, though, so I don't look that "exotic" :-p Nobody here has seen me anyway, and you should be grateful for that.
>>124 Oh? What makes you proud of that? What connotations do you feel belong with NEETdom?
>>134 Isn't the big difference the leader and the government, rather than the actual people? I haven't heard anything about the people wanting to go ahead with the nukes, just that the government does this and that. And considering what the country is like, people probably are too afraid and brainwashed to try to stop them.
>>145 Those North Korean fishermen who were interviewed on TV, said they are proud of NK having nuclear weapons, thanks to which they believe the world becomes safer. They also said they NK was centered in the world. As you pointed out, they may be afraid or brainwashed, or else not informed and educated about the outside of their own country. Dictatorship is ridiculous.
>>149 you can draw pararells between current US and North Korea, if you happen to remember your mindset when you were brainwashed to believe the existance of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq
I hate to die of the nuclear missile explosion! Because I can't marry my Emma. Emma will have the most serious and deepest depress and melancholy she has ever had. But it's OK for me that the missile exploded my warehouse while I'm off the slavary duty!
Let me show my idea there are purer hearted girls in South Korean rather than Japan. most of Japanese girls have the superficial ideas at male, for instance rich is best, handsome is best. Enjyo-kousai is the better exaple that they shows what is important for them.
I have nothing against people writing Japanese here and there, but one feels quite left out when people habitually write in Japanese (or any other language than the main one in this thread, namely English), whether it be in a normal way, or in mere romanji. ...So that is sad.
>>201 Eh. I'm not some great contributor. Quite far from it, really. People shouldn't treat me any differently than everyone else here just because I from time to time frequent this place. "Offensive" is also fairly vague, because people have different values, as well as different ideas about what "offensive" is. Your concern is quite appriciated, even though I feel it's sort of misdirected.
Hmmm.. I'm trying to decide, whether I should work on my programming assignments from at home, or at school. I would get two hours less to work with if I go to school, but at the same time it would be easier to focus there. Hmmm...
Hi me too My English sucks big time but I'm still writing, not detered by anything!! I think the important thing is to keep on writing and learning. Because tomorrow is another day!! talalala〜〜〜♪♪
>>229 Don't worry. ^-^ It's okay to not write perfect English. You don't have to write in only English if it gets too difficult, you can mix languages, and ask people for the right words.
Bush is holding a news conference right now. He sounds like a man who has his vision and is never afraid to do what is right. I want a leader like him in Japan.
Our new prime minister Abe sometimes gets so boring I could just go zzzz The way he talks is boring. He uses lots of Katakarna words, that is words borrowd from foreign languages. It's really confusing and sounds ugly..

Why don't we replace all the male politicians in the world by women? Women could be less militant or aggressive, so this might contribute to the world peace. We've never done this before so this maybe be worth trying, LOL~~ ~~always look on the bright side.........
I hope it's true women will never fight and manage their nations peacefully. Anyway, the biggest problem here we are faced with is how successfully to talk Kim Jon Ill out of losing control of himself. Maybe only Bush can, because the dictator wants the President to see to it that his regime will continue.
Kim Jon Ill is one of the most famous leaders of the world. He's managed to accomplish his aspiration that North Korea has nuclear bombs. When he makes his people creat good missiles, even America will get down on its knees to beg for mercy... By the way, to tell you the truth, I'm more worried whether North Korea is friendly with terrorist groups such as Al Caida.
Someone said the world will be balanced if all the countries on this planet have nuclear weapon though he also mentioned it takes great amount of money that should be spent on more useful and benefitial things. What do you think?
>>275 Interesting. But There are some countries which have bad ambition like NK. If all the countries have nukes, these bad country may cause matters, I think.
>>275 Obviously, I don't think the world will be balanced by all nations posessing nuclear weapons, because that will only significantly increase the possiblility for terrorists to possess the weapons. Not only NK, but there are other insensible nations which could be the breeding ground of terrorists, so if we allow those countries to have nuke, the nuke will end up in the hands of terrorits, and the world will get totally out of control.
I'd would much rather spend the money to clean the public toilets all over the world, LOL!
>>278 You would have to maintain them by spending a huge amount of money in prepartion for still possible nuke attacks from other countries. Anyway, although rather farfetched, the idea of 275 is to create a virtually balanced world by every contry owning nuke weapons.
>>265 >>264 said "Women could be less militant or aggressive, so this might contribute to the world peace. " >>264 said _less_militant_or_agressive_, not that they never fight and that they'd manage their nations peacefully. Women are people too, even though they might in general be less agressive against other countries than the current male leaders, that does not mean they'd never fight and all be peaceful.
Just read any book about the powerful women who supported and aided Hitler - they were just as much zealots as the men, and those women were no random weird fake women. They were just the more pro-militant/etc kind of people. Women are people too, that means that there are also plenty of women who would be militant and agressive, even though culture and hormones tend to ensure that the percentage of openly violent and agressive women are smaller than the same type of men. Though women also tend to be taught how to get away with such things better than what guys are, which is for instance why female sociopaths usually are a bloody lot trickier to discover than their male counterparts, because due to their gender they automatically get more efficiently taught by society how to blend in better :-p
>>279 Prisoner's diremma... In both cases, the other country decided to have nukes or not, It would be best to have nukes by Nash equilibrium. It's terrible.
i was talking with my father-in-law last night at dinner about N.K. and Japanese goverment policy against NK. My father-in-law is american and he is a viet-nam vet with purple heart, and he thinks japanese goverment should change constitutional law immidiately in order to allow japan to carry Nuke or millitary system. I agree with him, but I am worried that once we armed with wepon against N.K., it will cause caos among north asia region, china and south korea.
>>285 Although I tend to agree that Japan might be obliged to step up its defense power, I'd have to completely disagree with the idea of possessing nukes. The world is striving towards nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation, and as you mentioned, if Japan possessed nukes, that would definitely trigger a negative domino effect in the Asian reagion. Plus, Japan is the only nation in the world that has been bombed with atomic weapons, and there are many A-bomb victims who are suffering even now. So instead of even thinking about possessing nukes, we must more strongly communicate to the world the terrible degree of devestation nukes will cause.
>>287 well, that's the thing. communication btwn nations will be very effective and work for world peace only if the nations are all 'sane' countries! Think about it. N.K. is an absolutely insane and 'communication' with them won't work! we have learned it from the past, haven't we?
>>289 My point exactly. By 'to the world', I meant 'to the sensible nations', and hopefully most of the nations are. Japan should much more strongly let those nations understand the devestation caused by the bombs, thereby containing NK through excercising tougher measures against NK.
I think N.K. won't start a war. Never. They are posturing they have a power or something like that. They also know they are gonna be over if they start a war. Actually, America knows where they have bombs, nukes and their stronghold. China and Rusia should be more rigid to N.K. Their attitudes are helping N.K. act like a silly child.
hello! I am watching Good Morning America right now This show is great!! I'm taping the show right now. I'm gonna watch it again and again until tomorrow's show begins. Thank you.
>>301 I didn't think he actually did something like in >>299, though. But I have heard something about that he was apologizing for saying some rather bad things at some point, and I didn't know if he actually meant it or if it was just some accidental expression.
>>306 In Japanese, the word "blue" is sometimes used to desribe "green" things. E.g., although actual colors of traffic signals are red, "green" and yellow, we say red, "blue" and yellow, or in "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence", for the "greener" we say "blue" ,and for "green youth" we say "blue youth." Japanese "blue" seems to have the nuance of "freshness."
>>312 I can't agree with you. Ordinary people suffer regardless of financial sanctions. In fact, they have been suffering for years already, although other nations have given the country a lot of aid. That's because the government doesn't care much about ordinary people and doesn't use the aid for them. Instead, They use it for high-rank officials and other "elite" people.
Some people are saying that America should've directly conversed with NK alone. They point out NK took advantage of lack of communication and finally got their hands on nuclear weapon instead of throwing away their desire.
>>345 Ah, nice :-D I usually have Moonspell - "Mute" as wake-up music, due to the instrumental bit in the beginning. Otherwise I tend to have the song "Tori no uta" (by whoever that was, the band I've, I think?), or anything else that starts out more softly than what it is like later in the song (later being fairly strong), due to the same reason as the first one.
>>348 *shrug* As I don't know you, I can but assume that you mean what you say, unless you give clear indications of that you're being ironic/sarcastic/etc. Otherwise it's all pretty pointless, no?: "Hey, I have short hair!" "Okay." "Hah! I do not! I fooled you!" "Oookay..." "I have a blue shirt!" "Okay" "Hah! I do not! I fool you again!" "..Oookay... Good for you..."
>>349 Ummm.. I don't really have one... I don't even have a single favourite genre... I tend to use music as a way of amplifying/changing moods (mostly via the style of the tune, but also via lyrics sometimes). I can tell you what songs I've been listening to a lot lately, though, if you want me to.
>>353 Heh. But yeah.. The past few days I've been listening to mainly the following songs.. Pet shop boys: "Always on My Mind", "Flamboyant" Lordi: "Last Kiss Good Bye", "Would You Love A Monsterman", "The Devil Is A Loser", "Hard Rock Hallelujah", "Blood Red Sandman" Gackt: "Vanilla", "Cube", "Oasis" [keep in mind that I don't know Japanese] Gary Jules - "Mad World" Go Go 7188 - "Umashikamono" Dean Gray: "Dr. Who on Holiday", "Boulevard of Broken Songs" (Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne OST) - "Piece of Love" Press Play on Tape - "Monkey Island" (Live@TG2003) Queen: "Killer Queen", "A Kind Of Magic" Rednex - "Cotton Eye Joe" Razor Ramon HG - "Young Man" Scanning Around - "Sakuranbo kiss" Sarah Brightman - "Eden" Silva Screen Records Ltd - "Dr. Who (theme)" Diana Ross - "If We Hold on Together" Die Prinzen: "Doktor", "Glücklich", "Bella Ragazza", "Sie will mich" Gyllene Tider - "Känna Din Kropp emot Min" John Otway - "Bunsen Burner" Jonathan Coulton - "When you Go" Kent - "En himmelsk drog" Lit - "My Own Worst Enemy" The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society - "Es Y'Golonac"
>>357 Yeah, it's intro. part is played by Branford Marsalis..........COOL!!!!!! In fact, that album 'Nothing like the sun' is definitely one of his best, I think. 'Fragile', 'Be still my beatin heart'........Just gorgeous~~
k-tan is a rightous person. k-tan legally aquired those songs. Downloading them using p2p softwares is illegal and morally wrong. don't do that. thank you
I think you are cray. Michael Jackson is more famous for his long series of plastic surgerys he underwent, which kept ending up facial disaster, than his music and dance. By the way, Maki Goto is called "GoMichael" by some fans due to her recent artificial breast enhancement and eye enlargement.
>>363 Ah, interesting. ^-^ I haven't ripped that entire album (my sister has it), but I do have "Fragile" on my computer right now. I probably should rip the rest once I've gotten more harddrive space.
>>362 Heh... Some of those might be difficult to get ahold of... The songs by Die Prinzen for instance, I got those from my boyfriend, as he owns the albums. I can't really send them to you, though, as they're DRM protected (my boyfriend bought them via iTunes). He does own one or several of the albums as hard copy as well, though, if I recall correctly. I also got the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society's Solstice album ripped from him, as he had bought the album a few years ago, and it doesn't seem as if it's an album that's likely to be easily found online.
Lately I've found lots of music outside the US that's really impressive and interesting. Sigur Ros for example. They are Icelanders. I've never heard that kind of music.
Chemical Brothers? They really stand the test of time. Still popular in the US too?
>>368 Much of all the music I have are things ripped from either some of my CDs, y sisters' or my boyfriend's CDs, or legally downloaded. (for instance "ttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvey_Danger#Internet_release_of_Little_By_Little..." http://www.harveydanger.com/press/why.php is an album I downloaded a while ago.) The rest I haven't purchased yet due to lack of enough money, but I'm definitely wanting to once I can afford to. So while as I'm not too happy about how little of the money the artists get when they go via traditional music-distrubution channels, and I think that distributing free samples, and possibly donationware probably will help people more than harm them, but I don't like the arrogant attitude some people have to music, whether it be online or hard copy (people who have the attitude that they should be given everything in life for free, and that everyone should worship them and give them everything in life). I have yet to see anyone like that here, though.
It is NOT illegal to download things via p2p, not by default. It is only illegal if the music were not released under those conditions. Music released under the Creative Commons license for instance, wouldn't be illegal to share over p2p. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_Commons). Interröbang Cartel is an example of a group that release all of their songs for free. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interr%C3%B6bang_Cartel ) Peer to peer is only a method of transfer, it isn't legal or illegal: The issue is whether the transferred files are legal or illegal, this depends on under what license the material was released, as well as what the laws in one's country are.
>>377 I haven't seen that video for too long ^-^ I quite liked the video for "Hey boy, hey girl", too. Though sadly I have heard too few songs by them. :-/
I think so. They are still famous in the US. It doesn't matter if its popular or not. I don't listen to American POPS. But American music industry is the bigggest. So, easy to share the topic I thought. I like any techno music in the world.
>>379 Not quite. They have to be available via download too, in order for one to be able to get the choice of whether to download or not. Whether downloading them/putting them up for download is illegal or not is a different issue. But yes.. This is why companies tend to go after file-sharing programs and communities, because they want to minimize the possibility for people to share their things illegally. I'm not the slightest bit saying that's right to do, I'm just explaining why they do it.
>>380 Oh? Are there any especially good songs/bands you can recommend? ^-^
>>381 Orange wedge by Chemical brothers. I like that music when I chill out.
Recently, I listen Stereolab. Les Yper-Sound is my favorite. They are not really techno music, electonica or something. I don't know where they are from. May be French.
I think money is everything for artists' side and software companies' side equally. They think nothing but how to maximize their profit. Music creators insist that it's illegal, and file-sharing program creators claim that it's legal. The question is not in being legal or illegal. It's in profitable or nonprofitable.
>>383 Don't worry about file shareing. People who like music or the artist buy CD at record shop. Although I do use p2p sometime for just test listening, I would go to buy CD if I really like it.
>>374 While I love the Chemical Brothers, they're from the UK, not the US. Of my favorite bands that are still active, most of them are from the UK. (Most of my favorite US musicians are DJs, not bands per se.)
I don't listen any of the artists you all have been talking about. I listen radio station 95.5 smooth jazz or 97.5 R&B when I drive(They are Chicago radio stations). They are the only of my music resource nowadays.
Ships of North Korea are going to be banished from Japan. Seemingly, NK can't export food to Japan under the name of financial sanctions. But come to think of it, I doubt this policy has any influence, because NK can sell Japan food via China. It's useless. The result will be that Japanese people have to pay the margin.
>>393 Still, it's important to send North Korea a message that Japan will never accept what it is doing, I think. If Japan overlooks what NK is doing, then it means Japan sends a wrong message, though not so much of effect is expected. We should handle NK with resolute attitudes.
>>393 Main imports from NK are short-necked clam, matsutake-mushroom and sea-urchin. In other words, they are not essential to our lives and we can live without any problems without eating them. So it's quite simple, we won't eat them if they are branded as China until the economic sanction is over.
>>397 You have a point, but I wonder if you are really sure how the prices of those items are skyrocketing. And it's really difficult to discern Chinese clams/masurooms from those of North Korea, isn't it? So I think the effect of sanctions is dubious.
>>399 Please read >>397 more carefully. Point is, since we cannot differeciate the China-grown products and Korea-grown products, we need to stop eating both of them, in terms of the 3 products that are banned. Since those products are not our daily essentials anyway, there is no harm to us what so ever. You may claim that this boycotting will impact innocent Chinese farmers and fishermen, but then you need to think carefully again, which countries have been backing up NK.
Well, We've been eating NK's vegetables, seafoods with out knowing they are from NK. We'll eat them without knowing where they are from. That's the truth. Moreover, some poeple want to eat them. This sanction buisiness will have bad influence on the whole consumer price. Japanese government should stop this silly thing.
>>404 Who wants to pay money to have such foods those aren't clear where they are imported from? There is absolutely no advantage for getting along with North Korea. They only are parasitic evil.
You are caring about food price? Wwll, that is what you deserve, man. We have been importing too much food and exploiting both offoreign countries and domestic agriculture. ""Japanese government should stop this silly thing."" Japanese people should stop being ignorant.
I think it's all pointless, at least for Japan. What if we succeed in putting an end to the dictatorship in North Korea and helping them to become a democratic nation. What will happen?
Here's the answer.
The birth of another South Korea that hates Japan beyond reason forever.
Most of Japanese people are not that stupid to buy products labeled as "MADE IN NORTH KOREA." And North Korea is not that stupid to label their products like that.
i was a factry worker until yesterday. i dont want to be a blue worker any more. its so hard, my body broke, my arm broke, my back broke, my neck broke. i cant stand it.
So I've heard. But do you believe the contry secretly and unofficially let other rogue natiuons know how to creat nuke weapon? The news says the experiment NK conducted a few days ago may be a failure.
I'm an auditory oriented person(you know what I mean?) so I don't mean to excuse but dunno much about films. If you give me some clues related to the film(especially music), I just might remember it.
The poll held in South Korea showed that 7 out of 10 SK people feel what's called the Sun Policy didn't help improve the relation with NK and they are against the current president of SK.
It seems that the UN resolution was unanimously approved. I don't know what the contents are like, but I guess America and Japan took what China and Russia asked for.
>>531 I mean, this is no time to space out. Wake up and smell the coffee. What we are fighting against now is the evil mind we can't stand up against without resolute mind and attitude. That's it.
NK has put all its energy into developing nuke weapons. They believe it's the only way for them to make other nations admit NK is so strong that none of them can struggle against the country. What's your opinion about how to stop NK from going ahead like this?
I wrote # 539& #540. Both are just jokes. I should have written them simpler. #539: They took over the power. Mr Abe is in the same category. #540: It means that the nuke test results in failure.
So you want to suck her clit, take sometime and learn how to play. You'll get an electric vibrator on your tong. You are the MASTER in NK! God bless NK!!
I am afraid that warehouse bou will kidnap an innocent child and rape it!!! we should report that warehouse idiot to police already, before it is too late
Are there full of things of love in omaira's brain? I sometimes get dissappointed watching words of "make love", "fuck'n u" etc. on every foreign Chat Boards every time.
Yes, indeed. However, it is not good for your health and mind to think about love always, all time. Probably I may be unable to get down to work, if I were you.
Do you know about Chew Yang, a wacky taiwaniese man wearing glasses, who used to appear on Japanese TV programs? I wonder when he disappeared and what he's doing now.
I started learning chinese from the beginning of this month. Our teacher, a young woman, used to be a teacher of an elementary school in Dalian, China. She is strict and severe, but pretty!
I've heard that people living in the northern part of the earth is taller. Because they want sunshine and try to reach out for it more so than people from south, LOL~~
>>640 Me neither. Halloween is soon approaching once again... I wonder if kids will be less stupid about it this year. (Halloween is only a recently imported holiday here in Sweden, from a few years back... Kids keep coming all the wrong days... It' quite annoys me)
>>641 Japan imported Halloween maybe 10 years back. If I remember correctly, a famous toy shop in Omotesando (Harajyuku) Kiddy Land started this event in Japan, obviously because they wanted to sell more toys and costumes! When we import these kinds of things from abroad, we do pay much attention to their origin. Other examples may be Christmas and Valentine's day, oh, and confectionary industry even invented a day called "White day" to return the Valentine's day gifts, ~~
>>643 Ah yeah.. Though the thing is that outside of Japan Valentine's day isn't for just one gender. Essentially, Valentine's day is split up into two days in Japan.
>>645 yeah, you know Japan very well~~ Did you know that in Korea they have "Black day?" Than's on April 14, and those who could not get any presents on Feb.14 or March 14 get together, wearing black clothes and eat Jaja-men noodle, which is noodles with dark-colored sauce, LOL~~
>>648 I wouldn't say I know Japan well, I only know some things here and there. Korea's Black Day sounds rather amusing yet sad. People shouldn't get that hung up on whether they reveived anything on the Valentines days...
>>649 Ramadan is essentially just a month of fasting. Fasting was traditional to do in many branches of Christianity, but it's not as common today as a few hundreds of years ago. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasting#Christianity
>>652 I'm not a native English speaker. This thread is for everyone! ^-^ It's just supposed to be conducted in English. "Cool" is not as cold as "cold".. So that's the difference.
>Cool >1.moderately cold; neither warm nor cold: a rather cool evening. >2.feeling comfortably or moderately cold: I'm perfectly cool, but open the window if you feel hot. >3.imparting a sensation of moderate coldness or comfortable freedom from heat: a cool breeze.
>Cold >1.having a relatively low temperature; having little or no warmth: cold water; a cold day. >2.feeling an uncomfortable lack of warmth; chilled: The skaters were cold. >3.having a temperature lower than the normal temperature of the human body: cold hands.
sorry, i didn't know that too. well, i didn't think it has anything to do with christianity, but didn't know the root was in Korea.
i researched about halloween and found this:
The Encyclopedia Americana says: “Elements of the customs connected with Halloween can be traced to a Druid [ancient Celtic priesthood] ceremony in pre-Christian times. The Celts had festivals for two major gods—a sun god and a god of the dead . . . , whose festival was held on November 1, the beginning of the Celtic New Year. The festival of the dead was gradually incorporated into Christian ritual.”

>>652 What k-tan said: "cold" is colder than "cool".
>>625 Wo yang guizi = 我洋鬼子 = "I'm a foreign devil". (I try to know how to say "I'm a stupid foreigner" in the local language of places I visit. 私わ馬鹿外人 is easy, though.)
I'm disappointed. I thought by this time we would all be driving flying cars and working toward a common world government where the liberty and value of all human life is cherished and defended. The 21st century isn't turning out the way I hoped.
>>687 Woe to you, O Earth and Sea. For the Devil sends the Beast with wrath because he knows the time is short. Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the Beast, for it is a human number. Its number is six hundred and sixty-six!
>>690 Hahaha... That is a flawed version. Recently, scholars have discovered that the true number of the beast is 616. 616 more closely fits the name of Roman emperor Nero, as well, who is believed to have been what the "beast" referred to.
What can we do to talk NK out of developing nuclear weapons? If NK's nuke is given to terrorists, something horrible might happen that could end this world except for pure and fanatical muslims.
lolz~~ I just talked with one Brazilian boy...*sigh* He was ok but why was I chatting on msn with him?...(I don't remember the process)... I wonder why....and I even went to his personal page and commented there...XD I better not go there anymore...I don't know anything about him. He is just a random boy...gosh my mom will spank my butt...>.<
hello I watched Heros on NBC today. There are two Japanese men in this drama. But the Japanese they speak is totally not authentic It's like Japanese spoken by a Chinese. I don't understand what they say without English subtitles. I wonder why don't they at least cast someone who can speak Japanese as japanese characters The drama itself is great. I can't wait. for the next episode. But apparetly, they could do a better job than that in regards to Japanese characters. All you need is use those who speak normal Japanese. Almost every japanese character in Hollywood dramas or movies is a fake japanese. Are they doing this on purpose? On top of that, I'm Neet. So depressing.
>>724 I've never seen Heroes, only heard of it. It seems rather interesting. I thought those actors were Japanese, though... But I might be remembering incorrectly...
Hmm.. >For Oka, "Heroes" represents the chance to branch out of stereotypical >roles while playing a character he feels very connected to. >"Rarely do you get a part like this that is so well drawn out," Oka said. >"My character is the comic relief. He has a childlike heart and is >extremely optimistic, and in many ways he's really an extension of who >I am. I was born in Japan, like my character, and that has also allowed >me to talk to the writers and help them make a realistic portrait of a >Japanese character - which is really exciting for me."
from page three of this interview: www.browndailyherald.com/media/storage/paper472/news/2006/09/18/ArtsCulture/Brown.Alum.Snags.Big.Role.In.Nbc.Series.heroes-2282163.shtml
>>724 Mako (Iwamatsu), a Japanese actor who appread in many famous Hollywood movies, struggled very hard to break the stereotypical wrong Japanese image portraited in the American films. He died in July this year, and his last movie apperance was "Sayuri."
Actually, Oka (Hiro in this drama "Heros." get it?)is doing a somewhat OK job of speaking japanese , still any japanese can tell it's not japanese spoken by a native speaker of japanese. His Japanese feels a bit awkward // cack-handed // clumsy // constrained // flat-footed. But the other guy is so terrible it's not even funny; really annoying.
As he says in the interview, he is the comic relief, so they might intentionally make the Japaness characters look like idiots trying to get a few easy laughs here and there. Asian men are famous for their ugliness, you know. Maybe they couldn't find anybody who could fit this character profile and speak authentic Japanese Oka has really geeky dorky thing going on. He is like a representative of Akihabara. I love his character He is easily the best of all the heros in the drama. His superpower is absolutely cool. He is definetly gonna kick some evil asses in no time.. Maybe it's a good thing Japanese are the laughing stock of the world.
On the earth, there are excess number of human being. That's no good for the environment of our earth. If k-tan shall die, it would be a little bit better.
>>659 K-tan, I finally got to watch "Goodness Gracious Me" you recommended!!! Everything is Indian..........just hilarious, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those skits definitely made my day. Thanx a million for the extremely funny show!
Hey, I got this simple question. Dont you people get annoyed when u are viewing Japanese TV drama? Cuz I usually get pissed off when Im watchin Japanese drama for its so fake incidents and conversations and bunch of gay phrases. Well, Im ok with a few of American Drama like 24 as long as Im watchin them in English voices. I wonder if it is annoying for native English speakers.
>>765 Absolutely agreed. Poor scenario, poor actor, I can't stand watching them! Better Korean dramas than Japanese. Korean dramas have also poor scenario, but they are pure and plain.
There are 0.3 billion people in USA according to the recent news by Nikkei. If I marry Lindsay Lohan or Hilary Duff, I have confidence to dedicate to its increasing number.lol lol
Abe is a dog of President Bush. Abe is opening doors of every Japanese industry for only USA. We ,losers and NEETs, are being deserted by Koizumi-Abe pro-natis regimes.
>>797 Are you hoping for remaing a loser or a NEET? are you beliving that neet is a winner? Koizumi was brain-washing you losers never to stand up against Koizumi-Abe, pro-Hitler regimes.
LDP and new Ko-me-to- are widening a economic gap between you losers and winners such as Abe, Mikitani, Son, presidents of Big business. DPJ is a little more than both insane fasists. SDJ is the worst! they helped North korean kidnapers!
NK's action this time will make Abe's popularity more certain. That's funny, heh? Both Koizumi and Abe can take advantage of this critical situation to get popular among Japanese people who would have spoken against them if there's no crisis. I wonder what will happen if Kim Jon Ill is removed from the government of NK. Abe will become a hero?
>>799 Dude, remain cool. Winner, loser, or NEET, who judges? People are little bit impatient for their situations, especially in a bad time. But one can change when he decides to change. Do NOT rely on what the government do for you.
Koizumi aided substantial money to NK for returning kidnapped 5 families. the money is used to nuke tests, Who is the second reliable crimer to nuke test? the answer is Koizumi., You can't understand the answer because of your raw IQ
>>805 Dog, cat, whatever! I think you saw TV too much, and heavily influenced what they say. Don't be a muppet of MASUKOMI.
b.t.w., Japan still has one of the most averaged middle class society in the world. Check out what Douglas Coupland writes about "another country" in Generation X.
Guys, if you cannot find a girl, it's not your fault... From my experience I can say that's because there is no girl around you. Talk to as many women as possible, whether she be an old woman, someone's wife, or even a bookstore clerk... Practice talking with women may help you get over the awkwardness you feel when you are with a (young) girl. Plus I think it's important to know what they are into now.. But mostly they are interested in fashion, traveling, movies, and delicious food. One of the good ways to know about them is reading fashion magazines. I have a sister, and I borrow magazines from her.
>>791 The Japanese birthrate is only 1.25, according to the Health Ministry. Soon, Japan won't be as populous. (It doesn't help that Japan discourages immigration - that's actually where much of America's population comes from.)
>>839 Don't you know this chatting thread has been mostly built up with such horny guys, Yukorin freak and right wing military freaks. Otherwise this thread will go down to the storage. Another thing is these handle named 2 channellers are much more healthy than others.
Relationship of love and marriage (and It is not war). Evolution(from dictionary) : the way in which living things change and develop over millions of years, or a gradual process of change and development Evolution : It is spontaneous attractive force between gene of oneself and gene of another. That is, A gene is prefered by other gene. For prediction of evolutions, It will be natural that spontaneousness is important to evolve for better or worse. Artificial stratagem of gene's natural movement will tend to negative motion, despite prediction of evolutions tend to positive motion. That is to say, We never deprive evolutions of nature. >>738 Japanese are the laughing stock of the world? O.o;; Since when?
>>739 I'm borrowing his scarf, as it's nice to have something his with me. He also sent me a book of his that's supposed to be good for learning kana, so I'll be having a look at that in a week or two.
>>750 I don't have any fanboys, though. I don't even have any fangirls.
>>755 No worries, it's good to see people entertained ^-^
>>765 Umm.. I don't think my sisters get annoyed at japanese tv dramas. Perhaps it's due to the translation? I don't know.. I'll ask them what they think of the various dramas they've seen from different countries, the next time I see them.
>>839 Attention whore in what way? Is it just because I'm using a tripcode in combination with that I've visited this thread series for over a year, or is it because of my behaviour? If it is the latter, then how am I attention whoring?
>>858 I don't think you are, but it is kind of strange to be on a Japanese board without knowing Japanese! Then again, I don't know Japanese either. :(
>>861 Oh, no. I don't use IE myself, but I've been looking forward to it, as it closer complies to the standards ^_^ Which means that people will have to build their sites in a better and in a more standard manner, so there won't be that whole "IE only" sites problem any more. Also, hint: this is the English board ;-D Even though it's on a japanese site. As I've mentioned before, I'm quite fond of this board system, and I like this thread. Also, one of the first chatrooms (an international one) I frequented when I started getting online last decade was run by a Japanese bloke, so the chat-board style was more similar to this than most western chatrooms. Also, my boyfriend has studied Japanese for several years, and thus sometimes (rarely nowadays) looks around at 2ch/2chan. So, it's not really odd at all. I also used to visit 4-ch/4chan frequently, which pretty much just are western versions of 2ch/2chan.
>>893 Good news for you: I will die. Bad news for you: It will take quite some time... Probably many decades...
I'm sorry to dissapoint you. But hey, at least I will die at some point in time, the same as everyone else? Not that I would have wanted it any other way. The thought of being immortal never held any appeal for me.
I don't think you can compare Japanese TV drama in general with 24. 24 is very action-oriented. By the way, it is refreshing to see that there are dub opponents for Western shows in Japan too, as opposed to only the other way around.
I brush against the freckles that I hated so, But life goes on and I heave a little sigh for you. It's heavy, the love that I would share with you, Then it dissolved like it was just a sugar cube. Now the little pain sittin' in my heart, Has shrunk in a bit, but it really does hurt me now. Those silly horoscopes I, Guess I can't trust them after all.
If we could get further away, I wonder what it would be like...ya-a-ay! I'd be so happy, Inside my heart!
All the memories, I have are beautiful in my mind, But they don't feed the hunger deep inside my soul. And tonight I thought, I'd be just sitting in my sorrow, And now I must wonder wonder why. What did it really mean to you? I just can't see it anymore! I just can't see it anymore! Oh-ahohoh-o-o-oooh!
LOL. >>919 wasn't me. Here's a hint. The answer starts with "eaves". "Eaves" is followed by a word that has to do with the direction the letters are moving in. Here's another hint. The answer is something that is rude to do.
In the unlikely event that you speak truthfully, I'd prepare for what will happen next. Many people will start to say, "It's not me that posted this message and that!" or something like that. So don't pretend that you are me, please.
>>923 Thanks to your helpful hint,I managed to answer the quiz. the answer is "eavesdrop". I've decided never watch his puzzle from now on.so I'll be peaceful.
>>887 While I'm blonde (until I redye my hair) and blue-eyed, I'm too old to be a boy - and boys don't do much for me, sadly. However, Yaoicon - http://www.yaoicon.com/ - starts tomorrow, and I may go to that; it's going to be about 90% women there.
>>941 "Chuubou" (厨房) is a 2ch slang word that means middle-school kid. It comes from the 中 of 中学校 (middle school) and 坊 of 坊や (boy), but instead of being written 中坊, it's 厨房 (kitchen), which is pronounced the same.
>>966 Ah.. Sorry. I didn't mean to insult you or anything. I was wondering because I've been visiting this thread a lot lately, and so I haven't been missing, as well as that people have been displeased with me lately, here. I've been thinking of posting without a handle, but somehow I don't think that would be enough for them.
noooo!!! k-tan!! you shouldn't think like that!! this is 2ch!! you can't be liked by everybody!! as long as you put your name in the box!! in teh society of anonimous homogeniality, when you identify yourself with the name, you stand out. you cause frictions you can't do anything about it becaseu in thsi place anonimity is the norm you are supposed to be nobody as long as you claim you are somebody, you evoke some emontions and that too is norm some are so hated everytime they show up every anonimity attacks them and they just have fun with it and anonimous crowd is also having fun with that
look at school girl!! she stinks!! i don't even think she is she some don't like school girl and make fun of her, but she doesn't care at all because she knows what its like to be here with a name knowing that, she is having fun with all that entails being here lots of 2channelers are like that of cause you can ceace to exist, if that's what you want but just because some pick on you or make fun of you, you don't have to get serious and think
most importantly, I think k-tan is integral part of this thread!! without k-tan, we are lost!!! so just only for me at least, be k-tan forever!
>>971 Ummm.. I like the sound of too many languages, I think. It depends a lot on someone's accent/dialect, too. For instance, I find some English dialects very pleasant to listen to, while as others a lot less so.
>>972 I know that it's impossible to be liked by everyone, and that wasn't what I was striving towards. I was more of concerned whether their critique was valid or not, as they didn't really state their reasons for being critical.
It's just that I'm used to that it's perfectly possible to be identifiable by label and still be nothing. The same goes for not having a label yet being somebody important. What I mean is that what determins if someone is anybody notable isn't what they label themselves as, but what they do. A noisy nobody with a name is easy to ignore if one wants to, the same way a noisy nobody without a name is. Actually.. It's a bit more difficult to do the latter, as it's not always as easy to figure out exactly which messages one should ignore and not.
>>984 Watched more of Eureka Seven, and made toast with Nutella. Other boring stuff; talked with a couple friends, talked on IRC. Hard to sleep at night sometimes :(
And now I'm just sitting around listening to Spangle Call Lilli Line (good band!)
>>987 I'm not K-tan! I'm someone else. k-tan is a different age from me, but we are both girls. (My writing style is also different from hers). To save confusion, I'll just put my real name in.
and >>988 you're not me. :( I don't use ellipsis like that.
How old are you? What is your occupation? How much do you make per year? What is your religion? What is your race or ethnic origin? What is your native language? What is your sexual orientation?
>>980 I don't really know. Someone at some point said something about me resembling Angelina Jolie, but I disagree greatly. Maybe if she had taken serious beating with a shovel to her face and then getting reconstructivive surgery, then maybe, but still highly unlikely.
>>982 It's soon half past 2 pm at my place. I just didn't sleep too well during the night -_-;; I made an omelette for breakfast, perhaps something like that?
>>987 I didn't ignore Kari, I slept for a short while.
