Where've you been all morning? I was looking for you to see if you wanted to go with me on the river boat tour.
Oh, I completely lost track of the time. I was at the Chatachak market. I hope you didn't wait for me.
Oh, no. I went on ahead without you. The tour was quite educational.
That's good.
What kind of market were you at?
It's build as the largest weekend market in the world, but I only got to see a fraction of it.
It sounds like quite a place.
I've seen a lot of markets but few compared to this one. I'm going back after lunch.
Do you mind if I tug along?
Not at all.

Hey, Chris, how're you doing? How is your trip to Germany?
Oh, uh... it was great.
Did you go to Munich?
Well, uh, yeah. We had every intention of visiting the museums in Munich, but we ended up spending all our time in Bamberg.
You missed the October Fest?
Yeah, yeah. You know, we just didn't wanna fight the crowds. Besides, my wife was an art history buff, and we were content just to stroll around the historic squares.
What's there to see in Bamberg?
Ah, um. Yeah. It has more than its share of things to do and see. Actually, it's one of the most underrated tourist destinations in Europe. It's been designated as a World Cultural Heritage sight.
You will HAVE to show me your pictures.
Oh, yeah. I will, the first chance I get. Listen. Sorry. I've got to go to the meeting now.
How long were you there?
For ten days.
How was the weather?
It was fine.
And the food?
Great....

This is Science in Action from the BBC World Service. I'm John Stewart. In the program today, a warning, the arsenic contaminated water and food in Southeast Asia could be a bigger threat than ever imagined.
The more we look, the more we find, really the situation is, really quite serious and other contries such as Pakistan, Laos, Myammar, and now China is...
Also today, we're going to hear about some of the ugliest animals in the world.

We have Didrey standing by. Didrey.
Hi, Ken.
Hi, Didrey, any news?
Yes. I've got some good'ol news for you.
Hello, welcome to good'ol news. I'm Didrey Faster.
A Japanese reasercher in Peru has dug up some historic treasures.
This news was originally broadcast on Mar 2, 2006 on NHK Radio Japan.
A Japanese researcher working in Peru has unearthed huge jaguar reliefs believed to originate for around 750 BC.
The jaguar was worshipped as a god in Andean civilization.
Special researcher Koichiro Shibata, the Japan society for the promotion of science says he discovered the two clay reliefs on the wall on the remains in Andean temple in Wakapatida in northern Peru.
The finds measure about 2 by 4 meters and one is in such a good condition that an image of jaguar with a big head and tusks and wide open eyes can be clearly seen.
Mr. Shibata says that many other jaguar reliefs have been found in Peru, but they are smaller and less well-preserved.
In the remains, a mural apparently depicting a parade of people and animals including snakes was found above the jaguar reliefs 2 years ago.
Thank you, Didrey.
No problem all, Ken.

That's real. It was the song written by Neil Sedaka. It did became a huge hit and it was written about Carole King.

Do you happen to know the song "Oh, Carole?"
No sorry.

That's great.
It doesn't ring a bell.

And the next year, to return the favor, CK wrote "Oh, Neil." It was about NS.

Yeah, this album was #1 for 15 weeks, and it was on the top 100 chart for, I guess about 6 years, which was something like an amazing 302 weeks. Boy, that's a long time.

So far away.
It's interesting the very famous James Tailor himself accompanying her on piano at the start of the song. They were good friends, and JT was the one that pushed her to start her solo career.

Ah, Joan, I thought you'd falling off the face of the earth. Why don't you come out with us anymore?
Honestly, it's become a daunting task to socialize and mix with people at parties these days. Somehow I always end up feeling like I don't fit in.
Well, I can relate to that. I was extremely bashful as a child. It took an incredible amount of effort on my part to come out of my shell. You should come with me to Quincy's birthday party on Saturday. There are some people I want you to meet.
Don't get me wrong. I want to go, but it seems like I'm my own worst enemy. I get really tongue-tied when I meet people. It's humiliating.
Well, Come anyway. You'll be with me.
Okay, you talked me into it.
I'll pick you up at 7:30.
Oh, gee, what should I wear?
That nice red dress you wore at John's party 6 months ago.

I can't stop thinking that the best years of my life are behind me. I'm really frightened of growing old.
Well, aging IS a fact of life. There're no two ways about it.
The scariest part is that I've noticed that my memory is failing. And at the rate I'm going, I'm going to need cosmetic surgery soon.
Being so negative about yourself could prove to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Fear and denial are detrimental to health and peace of mind.
I can't help it. We live in a society obsessed with youth, and aging is portrayed so negatively in the media.
Liking yourself is what matters. Being young doesn't hold the key to happiness.
That concept is hard to swallow. / I can live with that.
Well, as they say, "You're only as old as you feel."
Yeah. I would hate to be a teenager, again.
Ohh, yes, I would hate for YOU to be a teenager again, too.

oh my, its hauting song. it haunts you.
it really does.
yeah, i look at the lyrics. my goodness.
yeah, he says
"every breath you take, every move you make, every bond you break, every step you take, i'll be watching you"
oh thats enough. ... it goes on.
yeah thats right(?) creepy enough.
"every single day, every word you say, every game you play, every night you stay, ill be watching you"
and he goes on.
and it gets even more creepy.
"oh can't you see, you belong to me how my poor heart aches with every step you take"
as chris said earlier, sting said its not a love song,
and sting also said that this song is actually about surveillance, ownership and jeolousy.
oh my goodness. so sting said...
and you can really see that when you read the lyrics closely. it really comes out.
certainly
and he goes on, "every move you make, every vow you break, every smile you fake, every claim you stake, i'll be watching you"

im interested in the name of the band "police" can you tell us how it originated?
yeah i think the story of why they chose their name "the police" is..
. i think it started from Stewart Copeland, i think he's the drummer,
and he joked that the police are in every country so, you know, would be a good advertising if they court themselves up
how about sting? this man called sting.
oh, its actually kind of interesting because sting is a very cool name,
but actually his original nickname was bumblebee because he came to a rehearsal wearing a black and yellow jersey.
so he was immediately named bumblebee and then that was sort of morphed into stinger and finally he wound up as sting.
interesting. whats his name?
oh, his real name is gordon sumner. and hes a pretty regular guy. i think he had a lot of jobs, a school teacher, ditch digger(?).

oh i say. and i know that this song was really really popular all over the world
it was. it really was. in 1998 it won an award for 5 million air plays.
and the thing is that it was the same year elton john got the same award for "your song"
thats a famous song, too.
thats right. and that song, your song, was released in 1970,
so it took elton john 28 years to hit the 5 million air playing mark,
but it only took the police 16 years, so it just shows how popular the song was.
puff daddy actually came out with the song similarly titled "i'll be missing you"
which is an omage based on the original police song, and its i think for one of his friends that passed away.
and the song was the most played song on american radio mtv that year which was 1998. his version is amazing. its real good version of the song.

that is a classic pop song.

you can say that again.

have you heard about those students in china?
they did a lip synching version of this song?

yeah. i saw that on the internet.

i saw that, too.

really? isn't it funny? oh my gosh. its these two chinese in a ??? students
that are lip synching to the song, and they really have the routine down.
and they know the words perfectly.
they look away then they look into the camera. its absolute hilarious.
i don't know how many people have seen it. so many people have watched.

so popular.

are they dancing like the backstreet boys?

well, no. they dont go as far as that.
but they have gestures and, you know,
they kind of like look away from the camera, look back at it.
