Actually, I'm tired. I'm going to sleep now. Goodnight!

You are going to sleep again? How long do you sleep a day?
155Disastorm:2006/05/24(水) 15:53:00
Sorry. I'm American so here its 3:00 AM.
156名無しさん@英語勉強中:2006/05/24(水) 15:54:05
Just a moment, please.
Can I just ask a question one last time?
157Disastorm:2006/05/24(水) 15:54:52
Ok. What's the question?
158名無しさん@英語勉強中:2006/05/24(水) 15:57:04
Thanks.

Some people in this board say you can't say "I went to the store
to buy some eggs". Do you think that's true?
159Disastorm:2006/05/24(水) 15:58:36
You can say it.

Just as I thought. Thanks.

They say "at the store I bought eggs" is the way native speakers
say instead. And the example I brought up is unusual.
But from what you said, that's not true. Am I right?
161Disastorm:2006/05/24(水) 16:03:22
I think both ways are right. You can say
"I went to the store to buy some eggs."
or
"I went to the store. At the store, I bought some eggs."

I'm clear.

Thank you for your time.
Well, have a good night and sleep tight!
163Disastorm:2006/05/24(水) 16:05:53
If you say
"I went to the store to buy some eggs."
it means you went there because you wanted to buy eggs. But maybe when
you got to the store there was no more eggs. I don't know if you got the eggs.
But if you say
"I bought eggs." It means you actually bought the eggs.
Or you can say "I went to the store and bought some eggs."

WOW Nice to meet you guys!!!
165Disastorm:2006/05/24(水) 16:07:42
But if you say "I went to the store to buy some eggs."
Many times people will assume that you got the eggs.

Anyway good night, I'm going to sleep.
