Davidson, an 18-year major-league veteran, is actually an exception — he worked part-time in the majors last season and is waiting to return full-time as part of a settlement of a dispute that cost 22 umpires their jobs in 1999.

THE HAGUE - Dutch Foreign Minister Ben Bot discussed the prickly topic of immigration with his visiting Moroccan counterpart Mohamed Benaissa on Thursday.
Bot defended the Dutch culture tests, which come into force on Wednesday, that would-be immigrants from outside Europe, Japan and the United States will have to pass in their home countries before being able to apply for residence status.
shut up japan you lost. one bad call doesn't cost you a game, plus you had lots of calls go your way, and the umpires are only human. bottom line, the u.s. is better than japan.
Baseball fans never forget past goofs The ball was relayed to third baseman Kelly Gruber as Sanders tried for third, then reversed toward second, Gruber in hot pursuit. Near the bag, Gruber dived and tagged Sanders to complete the startling triple play.
"Nope," said Bob Davidson, the third-base ump. "Ya missed 'em."
Television replays confirmed the blown call. Next day Davidson, seeing the replay, agreed he may have been a teensy bit inaccurate.
its ok Japan, it's just the way how US win over every single sports... For example, Salt Lake Olympics, Short track skating, Anton Ohno won by hollywood action by fooling ref. I am not surprised at all. yes yes,,,, US.... home advantage + power + business (money making)... Not only that, did u know that they wanted to change the schedule of Korea VS Mexico game? u know why? b/c night time game will bring them more income...yes... every signle coutries other than US are just participators who are making money for US. It's ok, I will tell you the winner of this baseball classic **** will be US, no matter how good you are, its decided.
oh my god, you're bringing up ohno again? you damn asians just can't let anything go can you? besides it was the damn koreans who cheated by running into him, maybe if you koreans didn't cheat then none of that would've happened to you. as it is, as an american, i say thank you to the koreans for cheating, we got a gold medal because of your unsportsmanlike conduct.
Korea vs U.S. About Japanese team moving on th semi.
In my opinion, Mexico is better team than Japanese team. About Korea vs Japan, MLB.com was saying it was an upset that korea beat japan, but actually the past record shows korea has more wins against japan.
I think semi will be U.S. and either Mixico or Korea, not japan. I really don't like Japanese, and wanted the U.S. team to win, but winning like this? Just a disgrace.
Ichiro follows the flag It didn't take long for emotion to get the best of Ichiro Suzuki and inspire him to strike a blow for his country -- hitting a solo homer moments after hearing his national anthem played at a big league ballpark for the first time.
"I have heard it in Japan, of course, so many times in my home country. But on this occasion on this stage, it resonated within me, and I think by our play you could say the players felt it, too," Suzuki said. "We carried that feeling into the game with us, and our spirits were flying."
Coming soon to the MLB stadiums near you, Bob Davidson!

The call was made and it could of happened to any other game, but ironoically it happened during the inagural of WBC. This shows WBC will survive, cuz all good controversy leads to bigger things.

Interview with author and anti-war activist Makoto Oda As the three-year mark of the U.S. invasion of Iraq nears, Makoto Oda, one of Japan’s most prominent authors and anti-war activists in the last half-century, looks back on wars of the past….and ahead to the path toward peace in the future.
Oda has long maintained that the Japanese emperor is not a living god but a normal human being like any other — a very dangerous position to take in a society where cult-like ultra-rightists, the self-proclaimed guardians of the "honor of the emperor," still resort to physical intimidation and even assassination to quell such public opinions.
Oda has gone so far as to say that the late emperor Hirohito, whose life was spared by the Americans after the war, should have been put to death along with all the other common Japanese people and Japanese foot soldiers who died in the emperor’s name during Japan’s colonialist drive in WWII.
