>>23 k-tan is not Japanese, she has said so herself. "tan" does not mean "Mr" it has no English equivalent so it's impossible to translate. It's a very childish way to say "chan"
There are two kind of foreign anime fans: geeky otaku that get obsessed with it, they think they are actually Japanese and lose interest in their own culture. And normal teenagers/young adults who watch it on TV or buy it sometimes. That's how I think the breakdown is.
Mmm.. not really ^^" .. i've watched so few animes, but i like the music.. the music in mexico is decreasing T__T .. now they a new rhythm that is growing like a plague around the spanish speakers country: and it's called reggaeton X__X .. and a friend introduced me to some japanese bands and i liked them ^^ .. but i do love my country and my story.. i think it's one of the greatest civilizations :] ((maybe cuz i'm part of it ¬¬ LOL xD))
>>52 American companies buy the rights for an anime from Japanese companies. There is usually no other money exchanged. Actually, the American anime companies are suffering at the moment because Japanese producers have started asking very high prices for this show. No new anime has been licensed in America since July, that's very unusual. But Japanese comic books are ultra-popular.
>>53 You don't like reggaeton? I kind of like it more than Japanese music. Actually Japanese music doesn't interest me very much. Reggaeton has an exciting rhythm.
>>56 i used to like reggaeton .. the rythm is cool.. just for the first 2 months but then i heard it everywhere.. in music channels, radio, streets, discos.. everywhere xPP do you know what ALL reggaeton songs talk about?? they are all about fuckin and there's no song where i haven't heard a boy to say the girl: bitch ¬¬
about this thread... May I ask this? Why this thread attract NEETs? No, I dont mind them, actually without NEETS this thread will be empty. but why NEETs want to chat in english?
>>87 There was NEET in Chat 25, he said since he is NEET he browse English websites all day and his English improve. So, NEETs are testing English here.
>>99 yes, after I am download my iLLEGAL copy of Harry Potter 6! I already have the book in english in iLLEGAL text format. Now I need to finish download. BT rocks
50 Cent has aggressive gaze because he is from violent place. He has been shot many times, because he is former drug dealer. There are no dangerous place like NYC ghetto in Japan.
>>115 Not all of them. John Kerry and John Edwards were not very genuine and, in my opinion, just opportunists. Unfortunately, that's the type of people who run for office these days regardless of what party they are with.

Hello everyone, I am NEET myself. I have just woken up.Guess what I will be doing today? Nothing! No, I think I will clean my room in 30 minutes. It has gotten to filthy in here.
>>121 She's not japanese.. but she's going to work there in the future, so wants to learn more and japanese.. and since she's a big HP fan, she bought the books.. Why do you think that otaku are the ones that likes Japan?? She doesn't believe she's japanese :P
>>157 I've known about this place for some time, by running into it while browsing Yahoo.jp when I was searching for something. Since I also read & write Japanese as well, I'd drop in on other forums just to see what the people over here are saying about this and that...
Boy, only if you can read Japanese you'd be amazed how whacky this whole place is... :)
I believe the correct romanized term for "rotten female" is fujoshi. As >>164 and >>165 have said, this is used to describe female otaku that are addicted to homosexual (BL) comic books and such.
>>196 Correct you are!! America is not only big, it is huge. So big, that it's made of two continents: North America and South America. Thousands of people are spitting on America right now! Only one question remains, who will clean this spit?
>>230 I don't think it's no big deal. Paying a fine itself doesn't seem to matter. But you will have criminal record if you get caught. Have you ever got caught?
A question for anyone who is here On Densha Otoko, posts from people would pour in alot like a chatroom But I have to refresh the page to get new posts How do I make it so that they come automatically?

>>177: America has many magazines about many subjects. I tried to find a list of the most popular magazines on the internet, but I couldn't find one. So here's just some that I know are popular.
Parade Magazine: comes out every Sunday, with Sunday newspapers. It's a "light" magazine, not very difficult to read. It often talks about celebrities and "happy" stories and other easy to read things. http://www.parade.com/ Time: A news magazine. Comes out every week. A very respected magazine. http://www.time.com/time/ Newsweek: Also a news magazine. Also comes out every week. Not as respected as Time. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032542/site/newsweek/ Reader's Digest: Famous for having "condensed" or shortened versions of books in the magazine, but now is more like Parade Magazine. http://www.rd.com/ National Geographic: Has really great photos and articles about various people, animals and places around the world. http://www.nationalgeographic.com/
Did you have a certain topic or type of magazine you are interested in?
UK Vogue: the Bible Paris Vogue: used to be the Bible US Vogue: thinks of itself as the Bible Vogue Italia: supermodel training ground monopolized by Steven Meisel US Elle: B-list model training ground monopolized by Gilles Bensimon W: the poor/hip/"artsy" little sister to the snobby, rich big sister US Vogue Harper's Bazaar: Bible on decline Nylon: Bible alternative I-D: Bible alternative but with more dough
Hi, another American here. The magazines I read in are these:
New Yorker: http://www.newyorker.com/ This magazine caters to residents living in NYC, but it is enjoyed all over America. There are many kinds of articles dealing with happenings in the world. There are also short stories, Haruki Murakami has written a few short stories for the New Yorker, he had a new one in the last issue!
FHM: http://www.fhm.com/ This magazine is most famous for publishing pictures of models and beautiful celebreties in very revealing clothing. Plus every year there is a feature called "100 Sexiest Women of the Year." Lots of fun articles about electronics, sex, health, trends and other things that guys would like. There is a similar magazine called Maxim, but it's poorly written. FHM has a balance of beautiful women and interesting articles.
Reggaeton is made by Puerto Ricans or Cuban-Americans. It doesn't really have the same roots as Jamaican reggea except for the shared carribean influence of calypso and samba.
>>288 That or not everyone has the English capability to understand it and therefore needs an explanation. The same is probably true if you try to understand Japanese jokes.
>>297 No, fuck you. Americans leave this place. Americans are a blight on the world. Going places and acting like they own it when they have no understanding of where they are. Expecting everyone to accomodate them and put up with their obnoxious ways simply because they think the world looks up to them.
>>287 said: " Yes Americans are normal. But a normal American is a loud, obnoxious, arrogant piece of shit! " That sentance is loud. It is obnoxious and arrogant. Is 287 an american too?
My point is, you can't hold to stereotypes as if they were true. Stereotypes are very generic generalizations. Sure, there are people that are like stereotypes. But there are also many people who are not. I have several intelligent, friendly and good american friends who are not obnoxious, not loud, nor arrogant. Poster >>287 sounds exactly like the type of person he describes, though.
It is not kind, nor civilised to chase people off just because they were born in the 'wrong' country. Please can we not be so narrow-minded. It should be the personality of a person that matters whether he should stay or go, not where he sleeps and lives.
>>302 But the country breeds such a poor personality. The entire American culture engrains a sense of righteous that supercedes the rest of the world creating the horribleness that is the American way. No Americans must be stopped.
What do native English speakers think about why there should be the article "the, a, an" in English? There seems to be no problem without them since Japanese doesn't have such concept, I am just crious. Thank you.
>>305 Just because the government is not particularly good, the religious fanatics trying to erradicate science from the studies and many ignorant people causing annoyances when abroad does not mean all of them are bad. By displaying such mannerism you yourself are stooping to the same level of ignorance, obnoxiousness and arrogance as the one that you hold against the americans. Please, show that you are not just as bad as the arrogant foreigners you're angry at.
>>312 I not want in talking with you. You are not listining to other people. You only think you right, never be wrong. I have no time for childs like you.
>>315 They elected and stand-by their imperialist government so all Americans must be blamed. Plus they do not instill their people with a sense of respect. If they did then the American English teachers and exchange students would not act as if they are above the Japanese law.
Americans think the world looks up to them. arrogance at its worst
>>299 Hi welcome, Mr. Lewry of Blogjam is friend of 2channelers for helping save Mona. All reader of his is welcome here, from all country. Don't being upset over angry troll.
I think this angry guy is Korean. Because Korean use word "imperialist" against Japan in foreign press. And Korean hate America too. It must be the case.
>>325 You really had to come to a Japanese site to ask such questions? Like oohh I'm talking weather with the Japanese so it makes it soo much more cultural and interesting?
>>328 hm? Quite frankly, what interests me here isn't the fact that this is a japanese board, but the people here. This place seems to have interesting people, that is why I stayed.
Also, what on earth does weather have to do with culture? (o.O);; I was chatting about random topics, I do that anywhere I go.
>>336 Korean feel a passion of hate for Japanese. There is survey in South Korea and Japan students: "Who do you hate most, who do love most?" South Korea students hate most Japan and America, and love most North Korea and China. Japan students hate most North Korea and China, and love most America and South Korea. This is true survey. Look on internet.
>>333 I'm afraid I can't do as you say. because I heard of the group of foreingers. I want good friends for me. In a sense, foreingers are GOOD friends.
>>331 You don't have to care at all. It's your right to ignore me if you wish to. Nobody is forcing you to react and reply to my posts, especially if you have no interest in them.
Chat about whatever you wish to, and if people don't like it, they can choose to talk about other things instead. I though that was the general rule in unmoderated boards like this one. Or at least i was told this board was unmoderated.
>>339 Surveys will say whatever you want them to say. Everyone knows that we Japanese consider ourselves superior to Koreans. We are racists against Koreans and Chinese. We blame increases in crime on Chinese when there is little proof. We complain that Koreans don't like Japan even though we have long discriminated them.
this is very important question! many people in movie theatre are drink cola! but if I drink a glass of cola I must go to the toilet! how can people drink cola and watch movies?
Also look at popular culture. In Japan, Korean tv program very popular. And some Korean are star. In Korea, they show Japan cartoon "Hikaru No Go" and censor traditional Japanese clothing. That is their hate so great. They think if Korea youth see Japan clothing, their eyes will burn.
>>338 Oh really? You still haven't explained what weather has to do with culture, though. Please explain, i'm confused and would be greatful for an explenation. Especially since the weather within a country can differ so much that it at point A is closer to the weather at point Q in another country than point B in the same country.
>>346 HELL NO! Mit is for stupid smartasses computer nerds. If you said for example "the most cool art school in US" and then tell us, about your cool art in US fashion magazine, then yes i fucking envy you. but mit... sorry no...
>>354 Stupid you lost all argument and logic. Your logic is now nonsense logic. Dubbed voices is common all over the world. American show are also using dubbed voices.
>>352 No you that is the point. Weather has nothing to do with culture. But a lot of people go out of their way looking for "cultural experiences" and stuff that even the weather in the right context will take on psychosomatic cultural meaning. i.e. discussing the weather with a countrymen is somehow less of an experience than discussing the weather with a foreigner.
>>350 I forgot to add, but I have a strong will, once I drank a lot of cola and then I could not access the toilet for the whole day! it was a nightmare.
>>317 >>318 Thank you. So you native English speakers always consider randomness when using a noun, don't you?. For me, that is a tough part of using English as a foreign language. Is my English correct in terms of the article?
>>365 Again I repeat for you, because you must be stupid to hear. Dubbed voices is standard for all nation. In Spanish speaking nation, English show is dubbed voices. In English speaking nation, Spanish show is dubbed voices. Not because politics or hate. Because it's easy to enjoy show that way.
>>372 Perhaps is it easier for Koreans to enjoy Japanese show without seeing Japanese clothing.
In America on American verison of Pokemon they tried to hide all things that made the show Japanese. I read that in one episode they called onigiri doughnuts to hide the Japaneseness of the program.
>>376 Now you are playing games. Let's be honest. Korean censored Japan clothing from cartoon because they don't like Japan. America take out Japanese culture from cartoon because American too lazy to understand foreign culture. If you keep playing games and twisting my thoughts, I will stop talking to you.
>>372 "Dubbed voices is standard for all nation." Nope, not at all. Just many. I myself live in a country that subtitles all movies, unless the movie is intended for very small children.
>>382 But you have never been to Korea and you don't really know why Koreans do anything. You just have a sterotype belief that all Koreans hate Japan.
Do you really know that Americans do not hate Japan and that is why they take Japanese elements out of Japanese programs?
Also perhaps Koreans take out Japanese elements because they are also too lazy to understand rather than because of hate. You are just making excuses for you poor logic.
>>383 That's very odd.. i'm not used to seeing the word gay being used like that.. "faggot", yes. But not "gay".. Maybe your friends used the wrong word?
>>387 I have never been to Korea. I can only judge Korea by information that is coming here. If someone tell me that information is wrong, I will not listen to it.
I don't think American hate Japan. I never see anti-Japan demonstration in America like in Korea. I see many American going crazy for love of Japanese animation.
No, Koreans did not take out Japanese element because of laziness. Korea is close to Japan and able to understand our culture. America is European heritage nation that can't understand our culture.
>>394 "If someone tell me that information is wrong, I will not listen to it." So even if the news is proven wrong you won't change your mind? You simply believe sterotypes and refuse to think otherwise.
Again you really don't know about Korea of America. You don't have any proof of what you say. So basically your opinions will never be totally valid. So until you have facts to prove that you are right there is no reason for anyone to believe you.
And there were many anti-Japan demostrations in America in the 1980's. It was on CNN a lot. Japanese news forgot to show such a thing.
I want to hear your candid answer to my question If you were a pretty girl, just then how do you think about me, I am ugly face, fat, out-of-date clothes, and thick glasses, when I tell you '' I love you" please answer my question
>>398 You misunderstand me. I said opposite. If information is proven wrong, I will not listen to that information. I think this is obvious. That is why I suspect you are playing games.
You are not giving me facts yourself. I know something about Korea and America, and I talk about those things. It's obvious I can't talk about what I don't know. My opinion is valid as any human being.
I don't know what happend in 1980's. I don't care, I was only child then. More important is world of today.
A man came by my apartment a few hours ago and gave me forms for the Japanese census. Thankfully, he also gave me a guide written in English to help me fill it out... It would be very hard for me to try to read all the writing in this form in Japanese.
Stop arguing with the troll(s). Let's talk about something else... >>325 tried to talk about the weather. Recently, in Nagoya, it has cooled down enough that I can now just open my windows instead of running my noisy annoying air conditioner. I'm glad... the heat and humidity of the Japanese summer was killing me!
>>403 less than aquiatance, but a little bit more than a total stranger my hobby is computer and watching many animation, your hobby is fashion, clothes.
how do you think? Complete Rejection or Receive my love?
Japan-Korean together make survey that show Korean children hate Japan more than Japan children hate Korea. First is fact. Now what do we learn from fact? That Korean parent raise children to hate Japan. And for that reason Japan clothing is taken out of Japan cartoon in Korea. If Korean children is raised to hate Japan, they can't show Japan clothing.
There are no American demonstration against Japan and Japan pop culture is spreading through America That is fact. What is thought? That there is no deep hate of Japan in America.
Facts are useless by itself. Facts are useful when used to make thought.
>>411 I already told you that surveys can be used to say whatever you want. The American government makes surveys all the time that do not actually reflect any real facts because they are skewed. Surveys really prove nothing.
Plus I told you that America has had a past of demonstrations against Japan. That is a fact. You are just plain wrong in this respect.
Since you are not in Korea and do not know how Koreans live you cannot know how Koreans raise their children. In addition concluding that because of one survey that Koreans are taught to hate Japan is naive.
And can you call if Japansese pop. culture if American take all the elements of Japanesenes out before showing them?
>>414 We will never agree with each other. I don't feel like having this conversation anymore. I will keep on thinking what I think, and you can keep on thinking what you think. That is nature of our live.
Long time no see!! Hey,my brotherhood, listen to me. "Four scores and seven years ago," a great leader of the Civil War statmented in the Getis Park. You know?
Next month, our university held "The English Speech Contest". Theme is above. I must remember all;)
My favorite American comic book hero is Batman. He doesn't have any superpowers like Superman or the X-men; he has to fight crime using only his strength and his mind. And the fact that he is a little bit crazy makes him an interesting character.
The Japanese cartoon "The Big O" was inspired by Batman, but I don't think it was quite as good as the Batman cartoons.
>>429 Eh? Did I accidentally use kage-tan here some day? Or are you from 4ch? o.O;;;
>>434 Never seen Insomnia, Memento was damned good and i loved Batman Begins.
>>426 Sandman is quite good, but not my favourite comic book. But then again I don't really have one single favourite. You should read Neil Gaiman's books too, they're quite interesting. I also recommend that you read the comic book "Watchmen" by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons. Very deep and brilliant comicbook dealing with what a world with super heroes would really have been like. Deals with not only adventures, philosphy, characters but also with moral issues. It was written 1986-1987.
>>428 Agreed on that Batman is an interesting character because of his lack of superpowers when all the other superheroes around him have such + his mental quirks. The detective comics from a long time ago were quite interesting. And I was terribly amused at how educational the old Batman tv-series from the 60's were. It was silly AND educational. Fun combination. The kids of today need more stuff like that.
>>442 Uh.. There is no such thing.. The closet thing you can get to that would be futa semen -_-;;; Or shota semen. But no such thing as loli semen. And technically shota do not produce semen either, since shota is prepubescent boys.
>>449 Duh? keep in mind that in English, the word "thou" has been kicked out in favour for "you". In other words, "you" can refer to several people, or a single person.
>>452 look at >>450 I apologise if i take it too much for granted that "you" can be abbreviated as "u". It is terribly common to do so in international english chatrooms, so i've grown too accustomed to it.
>>456 Nah, don't. You always have a future, it may merely be unhappy. Keep in mind, that if that future is good or bad is heavily influenced by your actions. Life is only worthless if you make it worthless. *hug* "Cheer up emo kid, lol". Seriously though, find something good in your life, and use it to support you, to help get you stronger, so that you can cope with whatever problems it is you are suffering from.
>>461 WB and not really. :-D This series of threads has its slow days sometimes. It moved less than 50 posts some day last week, that was annoying.
>>469 But you don't know anything about me. You have no way of knowing if i am cool nor smart. So it is a bit unsettling to hear you say that not only are you a fan of me, but also a big one.
>>470 He may need a girlfriend. A kind and nice one though, a girlfriend that makes him suffer will only make him feel worse, and then maybe he really will kill himself. I am rather hesitant to telling people to hang up all their happiness on the fickle whims and moodswings of another person. It's best if one also has something that is ones own, something one does/did, something one can be proud over so that you can feel good about yourself.
>>471 Please, don't. -_-;; You're making a lot of fuss for nothing. I am not better than anyone else here, there is no reason for why i should be singled out.
>>474 I'm sorry, but I just think that fair should be fair. My writing is not eloquent nor cool. There are other people who far better deserve such kind words than me.
>>475 Please tell of such people. Only you and Mr Shit can be saying cool things here. The rest are saying worth less things that is only good for garbage!!
>>506 Hey, sorry for my being a bit slow here..., I've been jumping around in some other threads since my last post...
I am Japanese, but have spent 3/4 of my life here in the state-side. I'm actually a California native, but sadly had to move to Chi-Town about 10 yrs. ago.
I do not share your level of cynicisms >>545, many great works of fiction contain the bias of their creators.Does not that lower their value of genius?
548, I am actually an American! I love 24, and have watched each week since the first episode, but sometimes even I think the show gets too heavy handed and says things like "Only America can protect the rest of the world"
But I still love the show, Jack Bauer is the coolest guy ever (Except maybe President Palmer or Tony)
Recently there are many foreigners coming here. They at times dominate the board. Many of them say they have the interest in Japan or that they want to learn Japanese. If this is so why don't they go to a board that is in Japanese?
>>558 I see. well, i dont mind about style, if it's for work sake. I mean, I am really cute, why I can't use it to gain money. it's a question that bother me recently. I know some hosts are happy people, but it's hard job to remember and keep all your client base...
>>560 And you must often deal with annoying woman who you don't want to talk to. And it seems competition is very firece.
I went to a movie once at 10am and before the movie started a host and a client came in. She was so drunk she could not walk. The host had to treat her as a bad child. He did not seem very happy. But she was a client so he cannot refuse it seemed
I once saw a host and he was not that great looking guy! sure, he care about himself a look, great cloth, but he is was not natural born beauty. just cute
In Japan, a host or hostess provides escort services services for paying customers, usually in host clubs. These services may or may not be of sexual nature.
I am Japanese and like 24. But I wonder whether Muslim people would be offended by the show. I think it has strengthened the stereotype toward them as terrorists.
