>>17 Now the business environment is changing dynamically. What we aim at is a company which can react to the social change and needs quickly and flexibly, and also create the trend and lead the world of business and society itself. >>18 With development of information technology, efficiency and speed in terms of corporate activities have been drastically improved for the past few decades. Many companies utilize state-of-art information and communication technology as the core infrastructure for their corporate activities. In order to survive the increasingly intense business competition, Implemeting better-organized IT system than our rivals have is a must. Of course, educating employees how to take advantage of IT power is very important, too. >>19 "Customization" gains more and more importance in today's business, which means we should provide something truely wanted by each customer, that could be completely different from what another customer wants." Now what we need is to make a new business model which secures our profit while responding quickly and comprehensively to individual customer's needs.

>>355 The other day an officer of the Center called me. He/She said I needed to have an interview at the Ambassy for aquiring Student Visa some day after July 10. People who live in Eastern Japan should go to the Ambassy in Tokyo and those in Western Japan the Ambassy in Osaka. I was kind of annoyed a lot by this procedure. Because it is actually a part of security measures to protect the US against terrorism after September 11. I wonder why only people who go to the US are inspected? Maybe the Japanese goverment simply wants to show that they are doing something to cooperate with the US, though it is just a pose.
I sometimes think that Japan can do nothing but follow what the US says. Well, it has been told for a long time that when the US sneezes, Japan catches a cold. I've read before that the US established the school lunch service for children in Japan in such a poor condition of food, shortly after World War 2. At the time powdered skimmed milk was provided instead of real liquid milk that was according to the elderly people I know, horrifically unsavory. The truth is that they just exported the unwanted massive portion of powdered skimmed milk over-produced as food for cows. Just think about how innocently the hungry Japanese children recieved that stuff.
>>356 We have eaten rice as our staple, but now the market share of rice has reduced and been largely replaced with bread. This is also a result that the US's intention to increase their export of wheat and push it to Japan. And now the Japanese people consume a tremendous amount of humburgers, noodles and spaghetti.
The US now wields their power everywhere assuming that they are inarguably the world leader. They wage war against their enemies as everyone's enemies and silence countries if they oppose it. Japan too was pushed and ended up sending the troop, self-defense forces to Iraq during the second Gulf War. Currently many people hold antipathy to their attitude and behaviors, needless to mention that the French people's distrust in the US. It is almost unbelievable that the world best-hated Bush is supported by 80% of Americans. This war will simply increase the approval rate, and what I thought is this war too will become another material for a lucrative Hollywood war film.
But let me stop here a bit and think. Doesn't this all means after all that as long as Japan is obedient to the US, we are safe? Even if the world regards the US as a true Axis of Evil, following the most powerful in the world is absolutely the right thing for Japan, a small country without much resources, strong leaders or a voices in the International community.
With all this mixture of feelings, I will go to the US this September. How will I be feeling as I stand on the American soil? Yes, I love the US, there is no country like America. Hurrah!
