I'm pretty dissapointed with the KP3 to be honest, there are some things that really bothers me...
* The syncing is pretty bad! If you don't use the KP3 as a 'master' things will run out of sync real quick when using loop-samples! Even if you use it as master, it isn't rock-solid... * You have to 'Align' it manually everytime you press start to synchronize it (or insert a 'touch pad on message') - When you want to change the level of 1 of the 4 samples, the others samples are muted! This is so stupid, who designed this? You actually have a 4-channel-touchscreen-mixer (which is very cool!) but when you want to change the volume of one of the samples, the others are muted! So fading individual-loops in and out is just not possible! - Another thing that bothers me is the quality of the D/A's, alot of the stereo image seems to get lost. It's better to use the KP3 in a fx send/receive config so that your dry signal won't get screwed.
Well.... it's not that easy. There are several things that really bother me. I'm wondering who designed this and if (s)he was sober.
The samples don't reset to their starting point when you start your clock. So when you've sampled 4 loops and start your MD, no way the whole thing will run in sync. You will have to manually align them (there's an align button) or send a "touch pad on message" (haven't tried that yet).
The syncing is also horrible. If you sync a Kaoss pad to an MD the Kaoss Pad seems to drift very quickly, it only take some seconds, after 1 minute the loop is totally out of sync. (The Kaoss pad is synced to external clock connected directly to the MD, I don't see what I'm doing wrong here...)
Another thing that really bothers me is when you want to adjust the volume of the samples the others are muted, this is so stupid! You actually have a 4 channel touchscreen mixer (which is very cool!) but when you want to change the volume of 1 sample the others are muted, why oh why korg?! This makes is completly useless in a live situation.
I'll have to return my Kaoss Pad anyway, one of the 64 LEDs under the touchscreen doesn't seem to work very well. I'll let you know if my new unit behaves differently, but I'm afraid it won't.
