I was plodding through one more hour of homework at my study desk when I heard my sister's playful voice.
"Hey big brother. Whatcha up to?" Julie said as she leaned into my room.
"Killing myself with calculus."
"Calculus? School's almost out for the year! You've got to stop studying so hard Tim-bo, you make me look bad with your straight A-s."
She was on her way up from tanning in the back yard and had on one of her skimpy bikinis. The sight of her petite, sexy frame in that flimsy suit was a welcome break from my studies.
"Besides, I need an opinion on my new tan." She continued as she pulled one side of her bikini top over to show her small, evenly tanned breast. I noted the lack of tan lines. She'd been sun bathing topless as usual. She must have put the top on just to make a show of flashing herself to me.
"Got to think about college Jules, but I'll gladly take a break to check out a sexy body." I said as I eyed her exposed tit.
"Aw, Tim, You really think my body's sexy?" she asked and released the cup of her bikini top which slid back over but caught on her now erect nipple keeping her exposed. She slid her hands down her tummy and hips seductively, stopping to work her fingers under the hem of her bikini bottom and pull it up tight into her slit.
and requested to create a new board for English chat and somebody introduced this board, however, I don't feel like fitting in this place. I am a serious person who loves to talk about philosophy...but is this a serious place? Actually I am self studying english and feel the urgent needs to pratice my enligh by writing such a board...but Chat in English in the English board is ruined so badly. So I escaped from there. does anyone here? and what type of residents are here?
A sharp increase in drugs and cellphones found inside a Brazilian prison mystified officials -- until guards spotted some distressed pigeons struggling to stay airborne.
Inmates at the prison in Marilia, Sao Paulo state had been training carrier pigeons to smuggle in goods using cell phone sized pouches on their backs, a low-tech but ingenious way of skipping the high-tech security that visitors faced.
"We have sophisticated equipment to search people when they go in, but they avoided this by finding another way to bring in cellphones and drugs," prison director Luciano Gamateli told Globo TV."
The launch of a new Government agency will see 11.3million people vetted for any criminal past before they are approved to have contact with children aged under 16.
But the increase in child protection measures is so great it is "poisoning" relationships between the generations, according to respected sociologist Professor Frank Furedi.
In a report for think tank Civitas, he said the use of criminal records bureau checks to ensure the safety of children and vulnerable adults has created an atmosphere of suspicion.
As a result ordinary parents - many of whom are volunteers at sports and social clubs - now find themselves regarded "potential child abusers".
>>29 Hi, your english is very good. Keep up the good work. This board seems to have a lot of idiots at the moment but they'll probably go away in a day or two.
Looking at the other threads, I can see that there is a lot of news links and random idiocy. However, there are people here that are actually sincere in their posting. Just try finding someone with your common interests.
I'M KOREAN SON OF A BITCH AMERICAN AMERICAN IS PIG DO YOU WANT HAMBURGER? DO YOU WANT PIZZA? AMERICAN IS PIG DISGUSTING GEORGE WALKER BUSH IS MURDERER FUCKING U.S.A
>>65 Thank you for your response. They said they were on "KENTA MATSURI", which literaly means "Kentucky fried chicken festival". "KENTA" is Japanese abrebiation of "Kentucky". and the clothing: happi is always worn in festivals in Japan.
By the way, it seems that there are few people here.
>>67 I keep lurking here cause I'm not really sure what this board is for... at least I see some serious posts now. Kinda sucks that I'm locked out of the English board due to foreign IP :(. Guess I'll stick to /trv/ on 4chan for now.
KYOTO is a very good plce to visit as tourists. There are many traditional places and shops which have old atomosphere. However, It is a bit difficult place to live. It's very muggy in summer, not as convenient as OSAKA, commodity prices are bit high. People don't say things straightly. Now, I think I can guess what they really want to say. I am satisfied to live here.
KYOTO itself is surrounded by mountains. It has lots of forest and plants though it is also a big city. I think KYOTO is a sort of eclectic city. There are also a lot of Buddhist temples. Some are tourist spots and crowded. But there are still some serene spots as well.
>>79 I live in the southern part of San Jose, which is pure suburbia. It's very pretty. There aren't any forests or anything like that, but there are a lot of trees and other flora planted all around... I live near a school and a drug store, so all my life, I've only needed to ride a bike.
As for the weather, there doesn't seem to be a spring or autumn. Things only change from one extreme to the other.
I hope you don't find 2ch too rude and put off by things Japanese; I once traveled California, and I remember that the weather there was always nice. No wonder people from the west coast are always good at sports:)
One thing I strongly agree with him on is his stance on the military. Japan needs to destroy Article 9. Fuck Article 9. Times have changed since the Constitution was written.
>>89 "aru"means "exist". If there is something, we can say "aru". "nai" is the opposite.
>>90 In my opinion, I agree with you. There are some people, however, believe Japan is not attacked by foreign countries because of the article 9. It is a very controversial matter. I feel that they can't change any articles in our Constitution in this situation.
>>91 But why would you comment "aru"/"nai" on a video?
Japan isn't being attacked because America is always in the spotlight. When Japan becomes more powerful, others will want a piece of the cake. Having an army, instead of an SDF, would be more of a deterrent. Japan's enemies don't attack because they have no reason to fear Japan attacking first, but when Japan's power increases, there will be someone provoking Japan to go to war.
It doesn't help that the Constitution is perpetual. It's stupid that the Allies thought world peace could be achieved through forcing people to give up their ability to wage war.
BTW, why is Japan so obsessed with Ronald McDonald? I love the MADs on nicovideo. You can see some on Youtube, too. Search for "donarudo" (in katakana), if you're interested.
>>96 I saw some in youtube. Fmmm... What can I say? I could not but smile bitterly. I think there are two reasons why Japanese like Ronald. Firstly, it's very popular character. Every body knows him. Secondly, because it's specific character, having very highlighted expression, it's easy to trifle with him. Then many people find it's funny. Sorry, it's just my guess.
Because Japan is becoming "car society", many of local malls have much less customers. It's very tough time for those small shopping mall. On the other hand, the number of big shopping center like strip mall is becoming larger. The wal-mart owns one big chain of super market in Japan.
Well, it is 1:13 at mid night in Japan now. I'm going to bed. See you later!
Differnt shop at the same mall. I felt the way in which broiled fish are displayed is nice.
Unfortunately, I have never been to Akihabara. I was anime fan when I was a kid. Anime at that time was "Youkai ningen Bem" ,"Devil Man", "Uchu Senkan Yamato", etc.
I am still reading shonen-jump every Monday. Naruto is very intersting. But I have never saw anime Naruto.
>>99 I thought cars were popular in the country, but everyone prefers public transportation in the city? Where I live, you need a car to go anywhere. There is no public transportation for miles, and the only way out is via highway.
>>100 I don't follow Naruto. I prefer slice of life anime, like Hidamari Sketch, which is one of my favorites.
What are the buttons in the top right corner of a thread? 2BP, BRZ, PLT... it looks like they all do the same thing. Why do some people have buttons after their IDs? What is a VIP?
>>102 I usually use a browser which specialize to see 2-chan. Its name is "Jane Doe style". That is why I don't see those buttuns. Today, I checked them using IE. But I can't tell what are those. Maybe I can ask someone else. Please wait without expectation.
is one of the most crowded board including various people. I mean rude, childish, assertive people. VIP is also called garbage can of 2-chan.
I guess there are a lot of NEET, or temp staffer who can't find something intersting in their real life but in 2-chan.
>>103 I've just taken a look at that board. I need a lot of effort to read. I don't want to try and spend time to understand what is written. Most Japanese people don't care, because they can't read English or at least difficult to understand.
>What are the buttons in the top right corner of a thread? 2BP, BRZ, PLT... it looks like they all do the same thing. >Why do some people have buttons after their IDs?
BRZ is an abbreviation of bronze. PLT for platinum and DIA? for diamond.
There is a point system in 2-chan. It is called "be-point". You cannot buy Be-point. You can get the point from someone else who felt that your article was interesting. There is another point called "MORITAPO", which you can buy or you can earn by other measure such as answering questionair. You can give someone Be-point by consuming MORITAPO. Members are classified by their Be-point into Bronze, Platinum, etc. When you press the butoon BRZ, you can hide the respons written by people whose point don't reach Bronze. The buttun 2BP is for all the res. I think 2BP stands for "2-chan Be-point".
>>116 You're welcome. I'm happy to help. I can understand you fine.
I would like to learn Japanese, but I hear it takes a lot of dedication. Kanji look daunting to learn! I don't know how Japanese are able to memorize thousands of kanji, their strokes, their meanings, pronunciation... What a language!
I know that learning kanji is divided into different grades at school. Does this mean a 2nd grader is unable to understand 3rd grade Japanese? Are 5th graders unable to read a newspaper? Doesn't it make communication difficult having to remember all the kanji?
I know very few kanji, and it appears that Japanese is easy if you know it all.
What do Japanese people find difficult about English?
>>117 lol, that video is both amusing and depressing at the same time.
> I know that learning kanji is divided into different grades at school. Does this mean a 2nd grader is unable to understand 3rd grade Japanese? > Are 5th graders unable to read a newspaper? Doesn't it make communication difficult having to remember all the kanji?
Actually, 2nd grader can't understand kanji which is supposed to be learnt in 3rd grade unless they do extra study. I don't think that the 5th graders can't read a news paper. They don't use difficult kanji in passages for kids. And they frequently put small hiragana alongside with the kanji in order to make kids being able to read.
> I know very few kanji, and it appears that Japanese is easy if you know it all.
Japanese don't necessarily know all kanji. It is said that you need to know 2000 kanjis to read a newspaper.
Construction of sentences is very difficult. Tense as well. We don't have the tense; present perfect, and past pafect. Article. We often forget to add a, an, the. And one of the most difficult thing is different ideas of choosing words and frases. I can't tell everything.
The other day, I watched CNN news. It's difficult for me to understand. A reporter asked a question to a state soldier when the hurricane gustav was hitting. I was not able to catch even a word from the soldier. orz.
>>119 So if you know the 2,000 kanji, you're fluent? What do Japanese find most difficult about learning Japanese?
Tenses can be tricky. The way I deal with tenses, if I'm confused, is to just use a short sentence for each event. I find that rewording sentences is helpful if my sentence appears confusing. I'm not sure if Japanese offers the same flexibility, but in English there are many ways to construct a sentence. If you're unsure about a sentence, you might want to try and write it differently than to try to fix it.
I can see how articles are tough. For example, in your post, you would either say "the hurricane" or "Hurricane Gustav". I believe it depends on whether you're referencing a common noun or a proper noun. Another example, "I'm posting on 2channel." (proper noun, no 'the') or "I'm posting on the Japanese forum." (common noun (forum)). You would only use 'the' with a proper noun if it was part of the name. If 2channel was called "The 2channel", you would say "I'm posting on The 2channel."
Something I've noticed about Japanese speaking English is that they tend to speak more complicated than necessary. Their vocabulary is good, but it may not be appropriate for conversational use. For example, while "it seems that I am the only recent Japanese" is ok, you might find it easier to use "I'm the only Japanese here." Yes, information is lost, but you're still conveying a similar message. I think this is similar in Japanese. Instead of saying "watashi wa gaijin desu" it would be more natural to say "gaijin desu."
I can barely keep up with karaoke in anime music. The kanji always make me lose my timing, haha.
I hope my advice helps. I'm not an English teacher, I haven't had an English grammar class in years, some of this stuff I find difficult to explain, and I might have mistakes of my own. What I write isn't perfect, but I hope you can get a better understanding of English.
I really hate PS3 and the SCE because they have been a bad influence on the development of video games since PS2 was released. I hope they will die,and in fact the're dying HAHAHAHA ZA MA MI RO KUSONY HAHAHAHA
> What do Japanese find most difficult about learning Japanese?
Daily conversation is not difficult for us of course. In terms of kanji, one of my homework was to write 100 different kanjis a day all through the year in the elementary school. It's difficult for even some grownups to choose right expressions, honorific, humble, or ordinary. Some people can't use this kind of plite expressions because they don't use their daily life.
Do you sing songs reading Japanese subtitles in karaoke? That's amazing!
>>125 I'm not much of a singer! I prefer to listen to others. I like Japanese music mostly because I can't understand it. I like a lot of foreign music for that reason. I do feel happy when I'm able to recognize some words or phrases, though!
When I watch parts of Japanese TV, I am lost because of how fast people speak. I find the Japanese captions helpful. Even though I don't know most kanji, I like their look.
However, Japanese pronunciation is very simple for me. I have studied a few languages and Japanese has the easiest pronunciation. I am fond of the use of syllabic systems.
>>131 I am a prospect about your lie. You might possibly...shut yourself up in the room and were playing TV game gloomily... And you must have been a bullied child!!
A new game show is on TV in the US. It is called "Hole in the Wall." It is based on a game in "Tonneruzu no Minasan no Okage deshita" where contestants must fit through a moving wall.
What are some good Japanese game shows? I like ones that have many absurd physical challenges. "Fuun! Takeshi-jo" is one of my favorites. Are there any shows these days that are similar? What time (JST) and what channel are they on?
>>135 It is interesting that some TV shows in the US modeled after Japanese show. Takeshi-jo was very funny. But that sort of shows are no longer very popular, I'm afraid. I can think of just one show Tokyo Friend Park 2. It's not as absurd as Takeshijo.
>>136 That's sad. I enjoy absurd game shows. I'll check out Tokyo Friend Park 2. Thanks!
What on TV is popular in Japan? In America, shows like Lost, House, and 24 are what everyone watches. There are also "reality TV" shows, like American Idol, which I find boring. But I don't watch a lot of TV. I download anime for entertainment, haha. The only thing I sometimes watch is the news.
Which reminds me.. What's going on in Japan recently? I hear Aso Taro has a good chance of becoming the next PM. I also saw there is some sumo wrestler who sounds very apologetic. What's the story behind that?
>>137 The most popular TV program in Japan is "Wide Scramble". Because Osita Yoko the most beauty in all-country and all-time is appearing on this program. If you saw her, you would lost your waist!!
Aso will become next PM. but Yuriko Koike wont be able tobecome it. We should most much pay attention in Dietwomen is not Koike Yuriko but Noda Seiko.
i am 25 old men with agry face everybody see the light of me job, study, and field of love, every scene i have disadvantage but i never ever forget keep trying
>>139 >I am a 25 year old man with an angry face >Everybody sees the light of me (?) >Work, study, love, everywhere I have the disadvantage >but I never ever forget to keep trying
>>138 >The most popular TV program in Japan is "Wide Scramble". >Because Osita Yoko is on the program. She is the most beautiful woman of all-time. >If you saw her, you would lost your waist!! (?)
>>141 Hey, You!! "Wide scramble" is broadcasted at noon from Monday to Fridayby by TV Asahi.
Osita Yoko is always with Owada Baku on this program. And Kuroda Fukumi often apears on this program as a guest. But this fellow is a woman who is not worth!!
Anyway, Yoko Oshita is the highest beauty in the metagalaxy, all men should not give his eyes to other women.
>>146 Oh! Golden Time? Ok!! The most popular programs during Golden Time are "Q sama" and "Hexagon" and "Heisei Kyoiku iinkai". Each of these is quiz shows. "Q sama" and the "Heisei" are serious quiz shows. But "Hexagon" is the programs which laugh at dull talents.
In addition, "Q sama" was making female talents jump into a pool from a 10m-high diving board before, but it is only quiz now.
>>147 Hey, you guy!! "Hexagon" is broadcasted by Fuji Television at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Its show is a program which laughs some foolish talents who cannot be solved arithmetic as leaned elementary school. Turuno Takeshi, Nokubo Naoki, Kamiji Yusuke, Satoda Mai, Suzannu...and so on. They cannot read the Chinese character learned at elementary school, either. hahahaha....!
Well, I have some quwstions to you. What are you interested in except TV program? What do you think about Figure and Manga?
Roughly classified, Figure is divided into.. Robot, Game character, Anime character, TV hero & heroine, Monster,Copy of genre..etc. and which do you like? I like Mangas...for example, "Ryurouden", "Usiototora", "Maiya", "SaiyuYoenden"... Reading these Mangas, I'll sprout. What do you like in Manga?
Sorry, I have been very busy recently. I couldn't post for a several days.
About sumo wrestlers. Three sumo wrestlers were sucked. Firstly, a Russian sumo wrestler was arrested because he had a package of cannabis and some stuffs for smoking cannabis. Because of the incident, the sumo association examined all the wrestlers' urine. Reaction of cannabis was detected from two of them. They are both Russian. Though they insist their innocense, they refused to turn in specimen of the urine for the next test. Then they were also fired.
BTW, I got my ligament injured. I had three weeks off. I resume my job the day before yesterday. I can't response as many as I used to.
I watched Tokyo Friend Park 2 and it is brilliant! orz I shall be watching it every week. I recognized the "Stopper Cubridge" game because I saw part of it a few weeks ago before I went to work.
I also watched part of Wide Scramble. I only managed to see the presenter read parts of the newspaper and ANN News. I saw Oshita Yoko! Is she the reason why Wide Scramble is so popular? It's a news show, right? I don't see why it is so popular.
>>151 Thanks. I'm going to watch Hexagon. I've heard about game shows that test their contestants' knowledge of kanji. This is quite peculiar. There are no game shows here that test people's knowledge of words, for example, nor do they test their arithmetic skills.
To answer your questions, I am interested in technology (mainly computers) and science, as well as Japanese culture. I find it interesting how Japanese culture is so different, from the importance of hierarchies to the love for the absurd which I have not seen anywhere else (sadly, nobody would ever make a Tokyo Friend Park 2 in the West). I am also a big fan of anime and manga, though I watch more anime than I read manga. I am a hardcore geek.
I am not sure what you mean by figure. If you mean who I like, I like various anime characters; they're mostly schoolgirls lol. Two of my favorite anime and manga are "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" and "Hidamari Sukecchi." I like the shounen, seinen, comedy, and daily life genres.
>>152 That's no problem. I hope you're feeling better. What type of work do you do, if you don't mind my asking?
Also, I have seen a few mistakes in some posts. If anyone needs help with their English, feel free to ask. I don't want to correct people and annoy them, but I'll be happy to help if anyone is studying English.
>>153 Oshita Yoko is the reason why Wide Scramble is so popular. But it's only my individual view! You might as well look at "Wide Scramble " from your own view.
Oh!! Do you like anime characters? Especially highschoolgirls lol? It's wonderful!! You should like Sailor Moon!! and Magical Princess, Sisido Hikaru, and Ilir!!
By the way, Have you seen the things like ribbons drifting lightly around these figures?
Well, If the history is traced, this is one of the holy implements which appears in Chinese myth. This takes forms various now, and will be as a tool which adorns anime and figure characters.
>>154 Ah, lol! Yeah, I prefer anime schoolgirls. I know Sailor Moon, it is popular here among anime fans because many people grew up watching it, like Dragonball Z.
I have seen many characters who wear ribbons, like Haruhi, for example. That is some interesting history.
I like shows about school life, like "Azumanga Daioh," "Clannad," and "Minami-ke."
>>155 I understood your sentence just fine, there is nothing wrong with it.
If you wanted to, you could use a common phrase like "on the road." For example, "my job requires me to be on the road."
how about jdramas? I'm American so I've only seen Nobuta wo Produce and Densha Otoko. Nobuta wo Produce is amazing and could be my favorite show of all time, American or Japanese.
>>154 I watched Hexagon and I enjoyed it. I only saw the first part because I had to go to work. Even though I barely understood it, watching the contestants was fun.
What has the weather been like recently? I saw on the news a few days ago that there was a typhoon approaching, and I remember that a couple of months ago there was a heatwave. Are any of you going to be affected by the typhoon? Stay safe. Over here in the Southeastern US, it is starting to get cooler, which is typical of September. Today was the first day I noticed a cold morning. The days are also getting shorter.
English uses the word "figure" in the same way as Japanese. I just didn't understand the way >>151 used it. I usually think of having figure collections as being part of an anime/manga fan.
I saw the news today. There was a strange story about Kim Jong-il and a video of someone who looks like him using a cell phone. If my kanji knowledge is correct, this man was in China. Can someone explain the story for me? I couldn't find any coverage of this story on American news sites.
>>69 I also saw the Kim Jong-il's news on TV or newspaper. But It may be not reported in Japan that more detailed than in U.S.
Iremembered by the name of Kim... I am a great fan of Kim Yu-na the figure skate player. Although an genius player the name of Asada Mao is in Japan, I like Kim better than Asada. At next Winter Olympic, I want her to win a gold medal!!
What do you think about Kim?
It is one of the pleasure for me not only to collect, but to remake them. Because, In many cases, it is a commercial figure with which I am not pleased in the state as it is. It is the vest hobby for me to remodel it into the form with which I am pleased.
>>170 >I also saw the news about Kim Jong-il >But the reports may not be as detailed in Japan as they are in the US
>I remember another Kim...Kim Yu-na, the figure skater. I am a great fan of her. >Although Japan has a talented skater by the name of Asada Mao, I like Kim better.
>>170 Which Kim are you asking about? I don't really care about Kim Jong-il, I am more concerned about Japan's self defense. I don't know Kim Yu-na.
Yeah, garage kit figures have better quality than store-bought figures. There are some that I'd like, but I don't have the skill nor the patience to assemble them. I'd be pissed off if I messed up. If I could find a reputable garage kit assembler, that would be great. All the quality of a figure kit with the convenience of a store-bought figure! Also, garage kits are very expensive. That annoys me too.
How many of you were brought up by Native english parents or guardians? I've always been curious in finding out whether the Japanese really are simply excellent at studying and understanding foreign languages, or if there were other forces at work, so to speak.
On an unrelated note, how many hours schooling do you receive dedicated to the study of the English language, and more importantly do you receive any outside tutoring or home schooling at a young age?
Don't forget to vote for ASO TARO on 9/24! Japan needs an otaku with guts in office!
>>173 From what I've heard, Japanese society is tough. You have to perform well in many subjects, or become NEET/hikikomori/suicidal. Cram schools are popular in Japan. Many parents send their kids to cram schools to better prepare them for entrance exams for certain schools.
But it would be interesting to hear this from the Japanese point of view. It seems studying hard has become an alien concept in the US.
This seems to be the case within the UK aswell. It takes little effort from parents until they are branded as "too pushy" I believe this puts much too much pressure on UK teachers, as they are really the only people in children's and adolescent's lives who will actually end up motivating them. This is probably why the standard of teaching is so variable from school to school, and possibly why there are so many stupid sub-cultures within UK society, revolving around violence and what can only be descibed as an alpha-CHILD complex.
It would help, but those who knuckle down and actually work hard in school are benefitting from a considerably smaller skilled workforce, even if you include rising population figures.
>>178 Aso was elected Prime Minister in the House of Representatives, and Ozawa was elected Prime Minister in the House of Councilors. But Aso was chosen by regulation of the constitution of Japan.
Noda Seiko was also chosen as one of new cabinet members. According to my prediction, Noda will be the first Prime Minister as a woman someday. Will Aso worship at the Yasukuni shrine on August 15, next year? According to my prediction, he wont do it.
>>171 Why don't You know that famous Kim YU-NA? OOP!! it is serious loss for you!! Seeing carefly!! This is a image of smart Kim YU-NA like Yoko Oshita!!
>>179 I'd be surprised if Aso didn't visit the Yasukuni shrine. From what I know about him, he either enjoys or doesn't care about the controversy he creates. But he seems to be a hard worker, I saw he wants to make sure Japan's economy can withstand the problems from America. How has he been so far?
One interesting thing I read is that the manga industry has seen an increase in popularity due to Aso! However, I thought reading manga was already common in Japan?
>>185 The manga industry has seen an increase in popularity due to Aso?
That is a news to me! Where did you hear the news that Aso contributed to development of Manga industry?
Surely the Japanese male of the generation of Aso often reads Manga. Probably, Aso himself is also reading Manga. But Is it some mistakes that a certain relevance is between Aso and Manga industry ? I think that Aso is only a reader that sometimes reads comics.
Why does American Comics have lot of words in a frame? and Why does it begin from left-hand side? Isn't it hard to read?
>>185 Yes, it is very common. Though many people read manga in trains when they did commute in the past, more people look at their mobile phones these days.
Incidently, I read shonen jump, young magazine, young animal, shonen sunday, shonen magazine, and shonen champion in a convenience store without buying them.
I think comics have a normal amount of words. I guess that kanji take up less space and, compared to English, give the impression that English is a verbose language. Comics are read from the left because that's how English books are read. It feels natural for English readers. Reading manga in English can be tricky at first, since the Japanese right-to-left layout is kept for the images, but the words are written in left-to-right. Unlike Japanese, English is only written horizontally, vertical writing is only used when there is a lack of horizontal space (for example, on labels and signs).
>>188 Reading manga in konbini is common in Japan, isn't it? I've seen it a few times. In the west, some people read comics in stores, but it is considered rude as the store employees want customers to buy the comics. I would prefer to read at home anyway.
What is more popular in Japan, konbini or supermarkets? Where I live is full of supermarkets. There not a single convenience store except when they are part of a gas station. General stores are more common instead of supermarkets in small rural towns. I think it would be nice to be able to walk or take a short drive to a convenience store, but here you have to drive everywhere. I rarely hear of supermarkets in Japan.
not 188 >>189 I was in Japan not too long ago and yes, konbinis are very very popular and many are 24hr stores. Konbinis don't really have fresh produce though, so supermarkets are still around (I only went to one). Off the top of my head, Lawson, 7 and I Holdings (aka 7-Eleven), and FamilyMart were the popular ones. Oh and 100yen stores were around as well. I'm sure a Japanese person could tell you more though.
When I was poorer than now, I was helped in SHOP99(99yen store) very much. The packed side dishes were very bad!,but Shopping to cost 1,000 yen in Konbini and Supermarket is 600 yen.
>>189 There is both written in left-to-right and written in right-to-left among the Japanease books. Manga and Magazine are being written in right-to-left . But many books except novels are being written in left-to-right and many texts except Japanease language are being written in left-to-right.
No, I think American Comics have too many words. Because Japanease Manga have as many as 2 or 3 balloons in one scene but American Comics have 10 balloons in one scene!! Moreover, We can see the passage of considerable time between the first word and the last word in one scene.
The number of the convenience stores and apartment houses is increasing in Japan with crushing force now. Apartment houses are already an oversupply, and vacant room has increased. But No matter how the convenience stores increase, any shop always has a lot of customers. This is because Japanese life style depended on the convenience stores as the convenience store increases...
>>192 I haven't noticed that about comics. I haven't read comics in years and I was never really into them. I'm not sure why there is a difference.
Where I live, there are many new subdivisions and strip malls being built. There always are. It can get ridiculous. There is a supermarket chain here which has a store every few miles. I'm not sure how they can get enough customers to keep each store profitable.
House prices are good because the economy is bad. Although everyone's too scared to spend money. It is shocking how, all of a sudden, everything appears to be going to hell! There is a gas shortage in my state and it is crippling because everyone relies on their cars, and the public transportation here sucks. It is impossible to survive without a car here!
>>195 Although the contents of the American comics seem to be a few difficult to the low grade children, Do childen also read American comics? Or are there children-oriented comics?
>>I'm not sure how they can get enough customers to keep each store profitable. Yes,it is a mysterious fact for me. The mystery could not be solved forever.
Especially in a local city, cars are necessaries. I often watched JAP man, who bend a head into the character of < to left-hand side, when driving a car. Moreover, I often watched JAP woman, who raise a jaw when driving a car.
>>198 I believe comics are usually aimed towards young audiences. Unlike manga in Japan, people generally read comics when they're young. I'm not 100% sure on this, though. There are comics for both children and teens.
I didn't understand what you said about the drivers. Although if you're talking about bad drivers, some woman talking on a phone and eating fast food while driving an SUV nearly forced me off the road because she couldn't stay in her lane.
It was cool today. I could feel the season; autumn. Though weather is becoming good for sightseeing in Kyoto, we have much less tourists from United States. We hope U.S. economy revive ASAP.
Here the weather has been pleasant for the past few weeks. The sun has been out a lot and the temperature is nice and warm. But October is the month where the temperature starts going downhill fast. Usually, by the end of the month, you need a coat. It is still "t-shirt and shorts" weather right now.
I would like to visit Japan, but I have little time and money. Even with a good economy! A trip to Japan is something I plan to do soon.
> I would like to visit Japan, but I have little time and money. Even with a good economy!
We have a same problem. Most people may have. I would like to visit U.S. Many people say that Sanfrancisco is a good place to visit. Probably it is true. I would like to visit heart land as well, staying at home. So that I may be able to feel a real American life.
>>221 It depends on what you enjoy and want to see. Most American cities are similar, in my opinion, the only thing that appears to change is peoples' personalities. It's the same with small towns. Big cities tend to have more "civilized" people than the small towns, which tend to have more rednecks.
I would like to do something similar in Japan. I'd like to visit some big cities, and step off the tourist track by checking out some small towns.
Today I went shopping in Target (a huge retailer like Walmart) and I was surprised to see that they are using NHK's Domo-kun mascot for their Halloween promotion. I found it amusing. Domo-kun has a small following in America (I believe it's due to the Internet), but people recognize him as a cute monster rather than NHK's mascot. I wonder what a Japanese person would think upon seeing this! I think TBS's BooBo mascot is cuter! Is Japan fond of any American characters? I know the Powerpuff Girls are very popular over there.
>>227 Hahaha! I kew that mascot. Is that called Domo-kun ? That is suitable for Halloween, I guess. But is that OK for using that mascot in terms of comercial right ?
Oh I know about domo-kun's popularity worldwide. Because of the Internet, anybody overseas easily catch some cute mascot in Japan. Also, I saw some people using NTT's bear mascot as their avatars. But nobody uses Olympic mascot of China. Do you remeber what did they look like? lol
>>229 I believe so. They have NHK's copyright on all the Domo-kun merchandise.
>>230 Domo-kun and Hello Kitty are two Japanese characters that are big over here (that I can remember). I don't remember what the Chinese Olympic mascot looks like because, like >>231, I didn't see the mascot on TV.
it was called Fuwa or something, but as nobody remembers, it was unpopular and not cute. Compared to Japanese mascots, their mascots are so not cute...
If I became a Diet member, I would submit the bill wicth abolishes all consumption taxes, income taxes, and residence taxes. Then, If it was the tax abolished, and how would provide the budget in the country covered? It is provided by raising the fine with which a traffic violator and an offender are burdened 3000 times. At present, for example, a fine of the right-turn prohibition violation is 6000 yen, after legal revision changes to 180 million yen. If it does in this way, the national treasury can be provided with trial calculation even if it abolishes all the taxes. Moreover, for an offender or an offender, probably no fault is found, since it is the natural consequences of its own deed. This is just a perfect bill.
>>234 I remember reading about something similar in Finland. There, traffic fines are tied to the offender's income. That way the fine method for income can be used while remaining progressive. It's sensible also. Consider: for a poor person a 6000 yen fine could be disastrous. But for a rich person it's a trivial amount. Ideally, since the reason for the fine is punitive, they should both be hurt about the same.
>>236 You have a point. But how do they know the violater's incom? By their incom tax? In that case, all the gangsters' are very low because their incom is illegal. They don't pay incom tax. Somehow Japanese gorvernment have designated some groupes as gang. It is strange. It is as if they admit gang groups.
I found an interesting signboard. It is located above the vending machine at the entrance of a famous sight-seeing spot. http://imepita.jp/20081105/781800
Now that welthy gap is too wide. The rich always look for something to speculate. That causee flactuation of oil price, currency rate, and economic chaos. What we need is redistribution of wealth. Help us, Mr. Obama.
>>240 Oh! thank you for your telling. I'll be careful for using that expression from now.
In my opinion, the idea of communism is not bad. The real communism society would be beautiful. However, it has not worked properly on the globe so far. It is ideal, but pie in the sky. We humanbeings are not mature enough to employ the system.
The Kanji which is equivalent to the English word "following" is read with "tousyuu" in Japanese. But Japanese Prime Minister Aso have read the reading of this Kanji "fusyuu". All the people in Japan are laughed at Aso's ignorance.
>>244 lol. Bush is famous for making many mistakes in his speeches. One of the most common errors he makes is pronouncing the word 'nuclear' as 'nu kyu lah,' when it is pronounced as 'nu kli ah.'
>>247 The prime minister Aso has been making many mistakes on speech. He couldn't read 'shousai'. That's one of the unbelievable facts. Also the other day, he said "there are mothers behind the children and they are really not so good people" or something like that in front of PTA(mothers) in school. He thought that was a community of teachers. The total misunderstandings. and not only that he shuoldn't criticize that way. He is a genuine stupid man. I am shame of him.
>>251 The phrase "chin chin" means "penis" or "pecker" in Japan. and "kintama" means "testicles" or "balls" or "nuts". >>248 Seiji!!Why is your name as a Japanease name in spite of Spanish?
Oh Yeah, I've heard a lot of Naomi before, such as super model. this english chat thread is too slow. There is no "chat" in this thread. only some people leave messages and a week or more time later, somebody look at it and reply....
Japanese High school students visited L.A. as their school excursion. When they were about to leaving U.S. 21 students of them stole brand goods at the airport.
>>259 Do you know Tanaka Naomi? I have not looked at Tanaka's groin direct. I only looked at the swimming suit photograph in the weekly Heibon Punch. Her groin seemed to be slimly and clean. And the quality of flesh is best in moderate softness. I was dying to byte at that time.

I am not 278. I think we are pleased to be corrected our English. Most Japanese celebrate Christmas as well, even though we are not Christian. A buddhist monk said He would give his grandsons Chritmas presents. In my opinion, it is not religeous but became custom in Japan.
>>285 Wow! You take beautiful photos! I liked the ones of the airport and the pagodas.
Are you planning to visit a shrine for the new year? Kyoto must have many shrines for you to choose from! How common is it for Japanese to visit shrines for the new year? Does everybody go? Is it strange if somebody doesn't go?
Good luck for 2009, I hope you get a good fortune!
I visited three shrines. One is a small shrine located near my house. Other two are big and famous. I went there early in the morning. If I had visited in the afternoon, it would have been terribly crowded.
I had my testicles stlen last year.Terefore, I have no penis nowadays. However I had an onapet already chosen. It's Sekimori Hinowa. Do you know that woman who Sekimori Hinowa is? She is a coquettish female character that appears in Fujita Kazuhiro's Manga "Ushio and Tora".
When I am tampering with my penis, I can't forget Sekimori Hinowa even for a moment. Sekimori Hinowa is my best onapet. Sekimori Hinowa is a nice my onapet who appears in Fujita's Manga "Ushio and Tora". Sekimori Hinowa is a littele likes handsome youth. I am masturbating as intensely as a mad beast while imagining the scene that Sekimori Hinowa and Kagari vie for robustness of their thighs. I'm dying to compare Sekimori Hinowa's thigh and Kagari's thigh minutely.
When I'm playing with my penis, I can't stop thinking about Sekimori Hinowa even for a moment. She is my best onapet. She is a character in Fujita's manga "Ushio and Tora." She is a little like some handsome youth. (or, She likes handsome youths.) I masturbate intensely like a mad beast while imagining the scene where she and Kagari vie for the robustness of each other's thighs. I'm dying to compare Hinowa's thigh and Kagari's side by side.
Well, I'm going to own up to my masturbation life from now on. First of all, I put Sekimori Hinowa's picture and Kagari's picture on the desk and jumble up those. And I begin to weigh up Sekimori Hinowa's thigh and Kagari's thigh. I think that Sekimori Hinowa's thigh is thin but it should be stronger than Kagari's thigh, so I get excited. It is a wonder that my penis was as soft as sponge at first but it gradually becomes hard. Isn't there a persn who could solve this mysterious phenomenon? I want to ask the god as follows. "Which of thigh did thine strongly create, Sekimori Hinowa's thigh or Kagari's thigh ?"
I was called "Smell Organ" by all my friends at my university days. Please call me by that nickname. My goal in this training period is to make me tidy by the next day even if I have something to be not able to do. Please my best regards.
I am a typical hikikomori. When the relative someone visits my house, I hide in my room and stay there trembling until they return. Moreover, when the telephone rings I shink back screaming and have one of my families answer the phone.
While it is often said that animals, including human beings, have the three major desires for sleeping, eating, and fucking, I carried one to slaughter as well as them. It had been in my brain since I can remember. As I suppressed it, it grew gradually.
>>362 ah? you think about guiltiness of living? or ...you wanna k*ll something!?
if your answer is the first, so we say Itagdaki-masu snd Gochisou-sama. or the one is second... originally, there's no concept of cruel for animal but just exiting,I think. Human-beings also animal, but we live in the nation which has regulation. in those world, if someone who did "criminal things" should punish by low.
personally I think low ain't perfect solution. people who eat animal decide abusing animal is guilty.
>>330 Is your sexual desire stronger than others? Is your penis normally erected? Please be relieved if it is so. You must rape any woman!!
The man can transform to the Super-Saiya alien by terrific energy when his penis is erected. There is no woman who matches a man when becoming it so. You will be able to rape even though it is a champion of woman Karate, or a large woman who beyond 180 cm, or a woman boss of the crime syndicate. If the opponent is the average woman, you can rape even ten women at a time!! However you must not misunderstand it. There is only woman in this world who cannot be rape even if you try to rape with your possession of brutal energy when you erect your penis.
It is my lover Lady Hayashi, alias olive oil. Though she has a slim and boyish figure, and hanny-face, suppose you touch her body You will be in hell soon. She is just strong like that!! You must rape all women all over the world taking care only about her!

MJ is dead. He was killed by american ninja's. The ninjas snuck into his house and killed him by splashing water on him. He screamed as the water poured over him: "I'M MELTING I'm MELTING I'm MELLTING"
hi! im high school student. i like Eng and i wanna talk in Eng in the future. i wanna study more, do u think i will be able to speak Eng? what should i do ?
Why are people especially in Japan often infected by Kugimiya disease? Of course I'm one of them, though, I don't understand. Hmm. What is the secret of that voice?
When I masturbate, if others see its appearance, he must be sccared, bacause of my too terrific look. And when I masturbate,I feel energy inside of my body which is more powerful than total of the metagalaxy energy. If I'm with the energy, My slim thigh will be just one that cann't be broken more easy than the barrel that bundled 50 tall women's big thighs.
I came here because of access regulation. Living without 2-channel is too boring. Maybe I am a little bit poisoned. Is anybody here in this same situation?
>>427 yeah, me too. most of poor jap couldn't use english, so anybody live in here. though, I'm also freakin' jap too.LOL
anyway, I watched this one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1uYCA51dsY this make me feel why japanese tvs don't use cool guys on main caster? ladys and girls and bitches... to catlize people?
I think poors including me are likely to be "catalyzed" by masscult because of poor personal relationships. Japanese people have thought that it should be only females that are evaluated by their figure and amiability. Media have maintained this fantasy, and now they are going to break it by themselves.
Lately, I have begun to have difficulty controlling my emotions and distinguishing dream from reality. The other day, when I woke up I felt irritated for some reason, and I hit my bed and my room wall really hard till they nearly broke. If this goes on, I may kill my relatives in a fit of rage someday.. I'm scared of myself.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU It is truly uncomfortable to sleep on the broken bed...
It all depends on your ISP, but due to the nature of a troll that's been causing bans on tons of ISPs right now, you might not be able to post on 2ch in the next couple months, well, except for a few ban-free boards like this one. There are also many other bans related to some attack on an admin board that happened recently, so try not to irk them too much now even if you find out your ban is hopeless at the moment. They're on edge and stressed out.
You should check up on your status on the admin boards first anyway.
Last week, the traffic to 2ch plunged to 66% because of those massive bans, and some adimins are still on the banning spree. They started acting up after the foreign minister asked for deletion of a copypasta, and a bunch of morons rushed down to the request thread and fucked around there. With one post by one moron from one ISP, the eintire users from the same ISP get banned (if it's not a static IP). There's no telling what's gonna happen...
Which thighs really break when a thigh of the lightweight Muay Thai woman's champion (24 years old, 165cm, 46kg) and a bunch of thighs of 3 big high school girls (each 17 years old, 175cm, 67kg) are made to dump each other?
The proxy server that was able to be used freely was prepared for everybody. Please use it if there is demand.
It is an explanation of the setting method to a browser.
1: When the proxy server is set, the IP address and the port number are specified.
180.144.56.90:80 (180-144-56-90.eonet.ne.jp:80)
":" Previous "180.144.56.90:80" of shows IP address of the proxy server. IP address of the proxy server uses either of the name of a remote host or IP address, and it unites it to the IP address mark basically for me. Moreover, "80" after ":" shows the port number of the proxy server.
2: It is env checkers "Shindan-kun" whether correctly set after IP address of the proxy server is set to a browser Let's confirm it by http://taruo.net/e/ If the WEB site is normally displayed, and third party's IP address is displayed in the value of REMOTE_ADDR, it is a success (Let's compare it to the value before IP address is set to the proxy server). There is a thing that the proxy server has been downed, too and acknowledge the respect, please when the WEB site is not normally displayed. Moreover, the setting of a browser is wrong, and confirm the part where IP address of the proxy server of a browser is set again, please when before the value of REMOTE_ADDR sets it even if it is time when it was normally displayed the WEB site and anything is steady it.
After all, 2ch is being saved yet once again by the super-functional section of the Admin, houkokunin, which takes care of reporting bans to ISPs and lifting them promptly. However, the dysfunctional part (personality and mentality wise lol) remains as unresolved, but perhaps that's what makes 2ch what it is now.
"Hey bad morning Tom!" "Bad morning Meary, too!" "I is sad to see you." "sad to meet you too!" "What did you spend at the yesterday?" "I fully masturbate on that yesterday." "Hahahaha, buy!" "buy!"
This year, 2ch will be a site for registered users only pretty soon. There's no such official announcement yet, but in practice it is heading towards that direction with an increasing number of bans they've been imposing on ISPs. In turn, though, they might lose the world largest anonymous user base they have boosted for years.
>>509 people don't like Cena because they see him as what is making WWE boring to watch. many adults who watch WWE don't like him but younger fans do, and so they dislike him because he symbolizes the show becoming more "PG." You might notice that when people cheer heels fighting Cena, they sound older, and are probably debu neets.
I normally don't like Cena either, but RL, he seems like a very good person.

The bride in June has a lot of women who yearn to the June bride according to the legend that it is possible to become happy. >>560 No one is interested in communication in English. And people who speaks English can't find this board, I think.
I want to live up to mom's expectations. But I always fail. She blames me and that makes me want to end my life. I was going to tweet this feelings on twitter. But no one want to read negative tweet so I wrote here. Sorry guys.
>>563 I know how you feel. On Twitter, people are only interested in what they can enjoy. You have very good command of English, so it would be easy for you to escape from your mom. You can go to another school or find other job where your mom couldn't control you.
Hi! Test, Test. Hi, My name is Mike and I'm from California. I'm looking for a way to communicate with the people of Japan. I did a search and found this place! I would like to meet some people who speak english. Maybe they could help me find some items that may just be laying collecting dust. Then we can do some importing & exporting! If you are interested please write back.
Yes, I collect PlayTape players and tapes. They were made in japan in the 1960's. I am looking for a way of contacting normal people off the street in Japan. Here is a link to what I collect. http://socalmusicexchange.com/bajas_playtape_page/index.html It would be nice to see if any of these ever sold in japan or if any equipment used to build these things has survived. I also have a player that is Japanese and I think I can only find tapes for it in Japan. Of course if we can start trading other stuff like 1960's Guitars or Stereos, electronic parts and things like that. We could all make some extra money! Then I have an idea for a website but I need contacts in Japan who speak English to start it. It looks like this may be a good place to start! Thanks for responding and I hope to meet lots of people from Japan.
>>569 I understand what you want, but it looks difficult. First of all, here is not at all popular, so it would be better to find other place to contact with many Japanese. I dont know where is the most popular, but you can ask someone in 4-ch.net. In addition, here is the Chat thread, not a business one. So that topic would be inappropriate here. If you just want to chat with Japanese, we will welcome you.
>>571 I mostly use twitter. Yesterday, I got a reply from my fav Guitar player in the world! I still can't believe this!
About collecting PlayTape players, if you want to get these things in Japan, you have to search in Japanese. I googled it and found tape at Yahoo Japan auction.
>>574 1,Can you kind people tell me? Is this just one post on the english speaking board? I have seen the board for foreigners who lives in Japan somewhere before.
2,So there are no english shopping areas in Japan on the japanese iternet? afraid to say, but yes.
I access this board by cell phone so I can't tell how to make your own board sorry.
>>580 I am living in the US at the moment, California. You are only legally required to "make an attempt" to relinquish my other citizenship if I choose to keep my Japanese citizenship, since some countries do not allow the relinquishing of one's citizenship.
As long as I declare that I choose the Japanese citizenship, it is unlikely that action will be taken against me unless I make a mistake.
>>581 I see. I took a course at Berkeley several years ago. It was really nice place. It is not so hot during summer I think. This summer is terrible in Japan.
I think constricting anus 100 times and denting navel 100 times in succession everyday is effective to good-bye depression and take back youth. You can do so at a boring meeting or in a subway. I have known 70-year-old man who has practiced it for 20 years. As a result, he has good complexion and has grown 20 years younger. His eyes sparkle. He is full of vigor, happiness and joy. He has neither complained nor born a grudge under any circumstance. Furthermore, he can make love three times in succession without drawing out.
>>596 Me too! Whenever I see 3D movie with stupid glasses, I get headache! I pay 300yen extra for headache! That's ridiculous.
But film production company in Hollywood is going to increase the number of 3D movie due to 3D movies created a lucrative in spite of a fall of visitors. Let people who take the trouble to come theater pay extra money and save their welfare!?
3D-movies are overrated. From what I have heard, actors are having hard time doing the stunts since you cannot trick viewers as easily as in 2D-movies. But sometimes the 3D-effects are quite cool. But having those effects just for the sake of 3D is stupid.
Also, they have removed Sonic Wings 2 from Kinopalatsi ( Finland ). What a shame. Now there are no STG-games in arcades in Finland.
Hello, Every one! I just opened a new web site. It is called World5Ch.net and we need new posters and ideas and we want those ideas from YOU! It is like World2Ch, but it is very new, so there is only two boards: News5VIP and Suggestions & Board Requests. English is encouraged, but Japanese accepted, too. Remember, 2ch.net users are NO.1! Thats why we want YOU! Thanks and have fun at the site!
When I chatted with Pakistani through the omegle, he typed very quickly. I understood what he said, but I couldn't reply to it. I thought I need to study more hard.
Everybody and nice to meet you! I'm Akina. I'm an one's own pace, and the blog of daily life and the idea to which the photograph readily is suitably exchanged and written. Please look at my with one's own way patiently if it's good. If it's possible to point it out readily, I'm welcome because it thinks that there are a lot of points that don't arrive either. Then, please come from following URL.
Is this thread still working? I really wanna join 2ch but no other English threads are working properly.. Only a few people use English. Hope this thread will be lively soon
Not the guy you were talking to, but I was wondering why this board was so slow. I thought 2ch got millions of posts per day, yet this board seems to be fairly slow or dead.
