Posted by Jillian Yim in Norwalk There is only one i have on my mind to be on the top of the list and that is the entertainer named Rain. I will give you a list of reasons why.
- He is one of the best entertainers out in the world today. -He works so hard to get where he wants to be. -After all the fame he's acheived he still does not fail to be humble and to care for fans. -Rain is one of the best actors in our generation aside from being a great singer and an amazing dancer. -Rain is simply the best.
Posted by Keirsha in San Francisco, CA Rain for us Asians serves as the model of our generation. His hard work and dedication --which resulted to 4 high-rated TV shows, 4 best selling music albums, 1 critically-acclaimed movie, sold-out concerts around the globe, and numerous commercials, all in a matter of 5 years -- have earned him the rights to become one of the biggest stars in Asia. He serves as an inspiration to the youth because he basically started from scratch, living in a 1-room apartment and being rejected 20 times on auditions, to becoming a multi-talented star. He gives a portion of his world tour earnings to AIDS victims, and is a tourism ambassador of South Korea. Now all across the globe, teens from the Philippines, Malaysia, Bulgaria, and the USA dance to his newest dance steps. Everywhere he goes, not only teenage fans, but even 30, 40, 50 year-old women scream for him as well. Rain is truly a great influence to our generation.
Posted by Mariella in Leonia, New Jersey For your 100 most influential list in Asia. I was so happy to have seen Rain (the S. Korean singer/actor) on your list. He definitely is THE biggest megastar in all of Asia by far. But the Rain mania is definitely not only Asia. All over the world there is a huge, loyal following for him, His fans are most likely much larger in number than the current most popular American singer.
I also wish you would list Song Hye Kyo in that list of Asian entertainers. She is a South Korean actress known for her acting and natural beauty. She will be in a new movie "Hwang Jin Yi" opening in S. Korea on June 6th. She is constantly voted by many other countries (not just Koreans) as the most beautiful woman of South Korea.
Rain. why ? because he is one of the hardest working person EVER. a few months ago, he performed @ HK. his armed was injured, and he said it hurted badly. but he still went on w/ his world tour in Singapore, just to keep the promise with his fans. T hat is what i call a hardworking person. He really deserves to be Top 5, or #1. He only sleeps 2 hours a day to keep working & pleasing his fans at his most. He gives donations to people w/ AIDS & etc. He's not just big in Asia, but is becoming a world star now. He's a big success in Asia, & will hopefully in US too. Rain is a big influence & he's such a dedicated singer & actor. He can do everything that would please his fans. Also, all his concerts around the globe S0LD0UT. So, Rain deserves it.
Rain, Rain, Rain! He is one of the most influential individuals in this world! Though he is not widely known in the USA yet; he has thousands of fans in the US waiting for him to debut next year also and are supporting him right now!!!! Rain has become the 'Pride of Asia' where millions of fans in so many different parts of Asia and from Europe to Australia and back to the USA have learned to love him and can't get enough of him!
If you know the history of Rain and how hard he has worked to get to where he is today and who he is today, you will learn that not only does he influence people on reaching their goals in the entertainment market, but also as one of the greatest inspirations for everyone no matter how old you are and where you are. He's definitely a motivation to succeed for many of us.
I really hope he does get chosen for being Times100 because he truly deserves it. This year, he's on his world tour and if anyone gets the chance to go see, don't miss it for the world. Rain will blow you away!!!! Another thing I love about him is that though many of us cannot understand his music; however, (with the help of translations) many of us are influence by who he is and what he does.
I think that the list cowers a very wide field, so it's really hard to choose one person, however, since there was included a Korean pop star, I think that a Korean group DBSK should be included as well.
They have thousands of fans all over the world, which makes them very influential.
i think RAIN (jung jihoon), korean singer and actor should be on the top of the list,
Posted by Ctharyar in England
Your comment I think Rain should make the list and totally worth it. He is top Asia mega star and multi-talented entertainer(great singer, dancer, actor, model, not everyone can be great in various areas, Rain is brilliant at everything he does).
He is the first Asian artist to perform world tour in 12 countries or more.
Educational institutes are considering to write his success story to inspire young generation and students.
His endless and consistent effort and determination, great personality and attitude, respectable image has touched and influenced so many people around the world.
Rain popularity and stardom is strongly based on his talent, charisma, consistency and personality, not just look.
Rain has been in this enterainment world for only 5 years and he was born and debuted in korea (which is quite a small country compared to USA in respect of media).
Although he has language barrier to gather fans in different countries,he has put endless effort, determination and passion to make it happen and he has made millions of people all over the world fall for him in this period of time is amazingly influential.
RAIN. Last year, he's been selected as one of the most influential people in the world.
This year, I really hope he'll be one of them too.
Rain, this multi-talented artist truly deserves it. Within 5 years, he's become the pride of korea, the light of Asia, the role model for the next generation, the leader of the Hallyu wave.
From a poor and rejected guy because of his small eyes, he worked so hard, fought so hard in order to reach his dream and archieve his goals.
I have to say, he's the best best best entertainer the world's ever known.
He's charimastic on stage is....mesmerizing, hypnotizing...not to mention his dance moves !!! He's truly a dance machine. These are the only few reasons why he's obtained the name of "World Star Rain"...everywhere he goes, thousand of fans are there to support him.
And I'm sure that, he'll be able to break into the US market. And even if he fails, millions and thousand of fans --Cloud -- all around the world will be there, to support him, no matter what. Rain, keep fighting hard, the Clouds will always follow you.
"Without the Cloud, there's no Rain, and without Rain, the Cloud wouldn't exist" -- WE LOVE YOU RAIN.

Rain, Rain, Rain. He is the hottest thing ever.
He is an amazing perfomer and actor. He is one of few stars nowadays that actually put 100% into his work and don't give his fans crap so he can just make a dollar. He deserve not only to be on this list but to win.
Please revise the profile on Korean MultiTainer RAIN to include that besides sold out crowds in Madison Square Garden in 2005, he also performed in 2 sold out Colesseum concerts in Las Vegas Christmas 2006 with a large segment of non Asians in attendance.
RAIN will appear again in North America in June 2007 in Toronto, Atlanta (Phillips Center), New York City (MSG), San Francisco (Cow Palace) and Los Angeles (Staples Center). The final leg of his WorldTour may conclude with his concert on July 3, 2007 in Honolulu (Aloha Stadium).
The Asian countries he has performed in are Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and Taiwan. RAIN performed in Australia on April 14, 2006 and will perform in Japan, China and Indonesia before coming to North America and Hawai'i.
RAIN has performed before thousands of people. Depending on the country, ticket prices are quite expensive and yet, at most venues tickets are snapped up as soon (or in some cases, before) they become available.
RAIN is the Ambassador of WorldVision, a nonprofit organization that supports and assists children who are victims of AIDS or orphaned because of the deadly disease. RAIN is contributing a percentage of the revenue generated from his concerts to WorldVision.
RAIN, through his talents which is being presented on a world-wide scale, may be the catalyst to a harmonious blending and a kinder, deeper, tolerant understanding of all people.
I would definately pick "Rain" as the most influential person! As a 24 years old, he is already widely known throughout Asia, include Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, Malasyia, Philippine, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Singapore, etc. Also, he is currently working toward the US market and was also the first Asian being able to stand on stage on Madison Square Garden!... He works extremely hard to reach his goal and being able to be recognized by people all over the world... In addition, he also donates tons of money to the poors and AIDS. All money that he earns from his 2006/2007 World Tour goes to the AIDS FOUNDATION. He shows deternmination and kindness toward everyone around him. Rain, he is truly amazing and influential. Even if he didnt make it as the most influential person in the Time Magazine, he will always be in our heart. Last but not least, Rain is not only the best, but has this extroadinary power that helps him go across Asia, Europe, and North America.

Rain!!! he is the best at whatever he does. He does have huge influence on people in a good way.
He is one of a few best so far in the entertainment business.
Media and entertainment does have the most influence on people.
I love to see Rain on the list. Rain is an great example for people who think they can't pull through in the entertainment business or even in life because they are rejected several time and give up. Rain has changed this stereotype vision and shown the world his talent, determination and confidence and what he can achieve if he believes. His motivation has inspired and influented millions of people to change their vision in life,to believe in yourself and not to give up easily. No one can deny his charisma and influence as he has established his status as mega star.Rain's fans adore and love his performance and effort and even non fans respect and envy his success.Rain also helps to raise fund for child and AIDS victims as much as he can. So many youngsters all over Asia are influenced by Rain to follow his step. So many moms and dads all over Asia want their children to be like Rain. How inspiring is that. Thinking about the facts that Rain is only 25 years old and has been debuted 5 years so far, it is absolutely inspiring to learn that Rain has influented millions of people in this short time at very young age. I do hope he will be on the top 100 list as he truely deserves it.

I am glad that Rain made it on the list as a candidate again. His dedication serves as an inspiration to everybody. Not only is he a hardworker, but he also manages to be very humble, honest and kind.
With this, people from different countries all over the world can be united because of their love for Rain as an actor, singer and person.
My Top Five: 1) Dong Bang Shin Ki/Tohoshinki - Korean Pop singers who are also very big in other parts of asia. They have performed in the U.S. before. They are known and loved in the U.S. and Canada. (facebook group-DBSK)
2) Rain -Even though his con is that he hasn't "broken through as a sensation" into the American market, he is still a very popular and influntial person. Two sold out concerts at Madison Square Garden right. His concert tickets sell out in seconds in Asia.

Your comment- I vote for Rain for the 100 most influential people . korea is a very strange country for me but Rain let me know how lovely Korean is. I've never heard the R&B pop music because of Rain I love to listen R&B everyday . He always donate part of his income to help the poors and compose song to support Africa aids kid . I know most of his fans also left their money to charities because they were under the influence of RAIN . RAIN deserves the 100 most influential people in the world.
In my honest opinion, I didn't pay too much attention to the entertainment business, until one fine young man changed my mind. I was watching CNN and by chance a singer/actor/model named Rain was on. He was being interviewed and just the way he presented himself made me admire him even more. He overcame so many obstacles to make it where he is today, and no matter how famous he may get, he somehow manages to help others out. He also helps donate to World Vision and so much more, which I believe is a good deed. Despite all odds and factors, he proved many wrong that he would be able to succeed and he did. He's still trying his best and puts in more than 110% into what he does; whether it's performing on stage, acting or modeling...or even helping others around the world out. This young man never ceases to amaze me. I want others out there to know how far he has come and how determined he is. He deserves the best for all that he's put into.

I'v to say that He real grown man when I meet Him as personal, He's realy nice person, an 1000 time than expert He's very down to earh idol
I think Rain should be on the list. Well, the year 2007 is really fruitfull for him. Let's see. He is still in the middle of his world tour, and i would say he was impressive. He has a large fanbase in Asia, namely South Korea (of course), Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philipines. He might only be a singer, but because of him, and his music, he had bring his fans together, although there were a big difference in culture and religion. And not to forget, he is indeed an impressive performer. he has the stage presence, he has the charisma, he has everything a performer has to have to be on stage. He made the fans go wild, and more importantly, he left all the audience satisfied with him.

I believe Rain deserves to be one of the most influencial people all the world today.
He influences on people in all over Asia by his dedication, p assion and determination. He is the pride of Asia.
Eventhough he has not debuted in Europe and USA yet, tons of people in these areas know and love him, especially the young people ,who learn the dedication and the passion from him a lot.
He has done and tried his best to appeal people to do the charity through his concerts... Because of his influence, there are many young groups, which donate money, blood and clothes to the people in difficult curcumstances in several countries in Asia under his name.
i think that Bi Rain (jung ji hoon) should make the list again because, he has made a very big impact on my life. He showed me that anything is possible and sets a very good example of me.

Rain although not yet a sensation in anglo america, has already been showered with titles such as the "jewel of Asia" and the "pride of Korea".
Like many influential people he has known suffering first hand, I myself is not asian, and there is a certain delicacy and maturity that he possesses that I cannot find see in any other artists around the world. Though Rain has yet to earn the title of a "World Star" he has the maturity, youth, charisma, and talent that is required of him. To me the american music industry needs a tough of maturity and difference

Rain affected me a lot because when he first started auditioning to become a singer, actor, etc, he was rejected many times because people claimed he was ugly. But that proves that those people were wrong. Rain didn't have to look handsome or cute to be an international star.
He used his own abilities and talents to amaze people all over the world.
I would support Rain, the korean singer, because he is not only good in dancing, acting, and singing, but he also helps out the poor. He is also the representative for World Vision (Korea).
Part of his earnings from his World Tour and the World Vision Bracelets will go to World Vision.

I love Bi Rain. He is so involved with everything and is soon to reign over the world.
In the entertainment category, I will pick Rain, He is the leading star of the Korean wave, singer-actor, he played to a larage audience in America, S.E.Asia and Sydney, Australia, attributes his international success to the university of hip hop. His working attitude, his humble and sincerity manner plus he constantly helping the local charity whereever he performs. He is worth for my vote.

I believe RAIN is worthy to be on the influential people list. So many men want to be him and so many women want to be with him. So many teenagers want to sing like him and dance like him. It's very very difficult to become well known in entertainment all over the world since he is korean and in korea where does not have many records of artists who can influent like this, but he bypassed all that and make it possible. Who will think long ago that this young boy will become well known and inspire people like this.Inspite of all this success, he remains humble and maintains respectable image. These facts did inspire serious amount of people and still will carry on.
Dear Rain~ you are the best i always suppout you fighting~ ^_________^

Your comment I vote for Rain, Korean Singer. He is incredible, both singing and acting!
I'm glad Rain, also known as the korean triple threat entertainer is on the top list for this year.
In my opinion, his name should be on the list, not because of the sake supporting him, his stage presence or whatever physical attributes. For me, this guy, has proven to the critics, has proven to us, that with hardwork, perseverance and modesty, you can too be on the top, achieving the impossible.
For an asian to be the first of everything, the first to perform at the Madison Square, the first to be on the The Time 100's list in 2006, to be known and to be loved by different races and cultures in the world, he has definitely breakthrough most of the things we think is impossible.
And to be modest, and diligently work harder for it, thinking it's not good enough, is to be praise for.
Closing gaps between countries, such as S. Korea and Japan. T
alking about hitting two birds with one stone! He has definitely a good role model and worthy to be on the list once again this year.
Others out there, who has been working hard for world peace, to solve poverty, that I must say, their hardwork should also be recognized.
Let there be more researchers on list, athletes who contributed a lot to their country, entertainers, shows hosts that inspired millions, song writers that has substance, those who are good role models.

I wanna recommend Rain as one of TIME 100. I support him.
Rain supports World Vision. Look that up if you guys don't know.
He puts in a portion of his profits from his concerts/tours towards helping others out.
He's had a rough time growing up, many struggles to get into the entertainment business and to accomplish his goals and dreams as promised to his mother. Rain is truly amazing.
Rain also falls on everyone eventually...remember that.

Rain is definitely one of the most influential people in the world.
Just look at his world tour concerts which drawn people to him, not only Asian.
And he is a Korean 'ambassador' already in such a young age.
I don't think other artist/singer such as Salma Hayek , Brad Pitt or Justin Timberlake should be in the 100 list not even in 500 list.
Rain!!!!......just because he's a hard worker, talented, and very inspirational person to watch and learn from.

Anon, please don't bash Rain like that. It's very offensive.
Anyways, Rain DOES deserve this. all his hardwork, his struggles in life, should be respected.

I definetly vote for RAIN (Jeong Ji Hun) from Korea as the most influential person in the world.
RAIN is the best known as "phenomenon of KPop", "a new hero of Asia" and "magic feet from S.Korea-TIME USA 2006 choice".
RAIN whom delicates all his life for music is now the mega star in Asia and so far in the U.S. in the role of the multi-talented artist (singer, dancer, actor, and model...).
RAIN has thousand of fans from Japan, Hong Kong, China, Australia, Thailand, and Taiwan… supporting and following him through his world tour.
Although RAIN never debuts any album in the U.S., he has a huge fan in here following him.
RAIN is the first Asian singer who sold out his concert in the Madison Square Garden, New York.
RAIN really works hard to become a real star today although he was rejected many times because of his face. RAIN is care so much his fans and donates a ton of money for victims of AIDS from earning of his world tour concert 2007.
Now, RAIN is a supper star, but he is still humble. In this June 2007, RAIN will be back to North America with his world tour concert in New York, LA, SF, and Toronto...
No matter what he does.
No matter where he goes.
We always support to RAIN. General speaking, I strongly recommend RAIN should be as the top of list 100 most influential people in the world. Thank you. ^_^
I believe that Rain is a good candidate for the Time 100.
His albums have topped the charts throughout Asia and won the MTV Asia Grand Slam, in which he won top honors in all of the Asian countries.
In 2005, he became the first Asian artist to be invited to the MTV Video Music Awards in Miami, Florida.
In 2006, he held two concerts in Madison Square Garden both concerts were sold out within days.
Having already gained immense international fame in Asia, he now aims to conquer the United States.
He has already made his first steps towards such an achievement, having recently recorded a duet with top American R&B star, Omarion, with hints of future collaborations with Diddy and Beyonce.
But not only is this pop star known for his singing and dancing, he is also a well-accomplished actor.
In 2004, Rain starred in the Korean drama, Full House, which was an enormous hit throughout all of Asia.
Full House ended up as one of the highest-rated Korean dramas of all time. He won a best actor award for his performance in this drama.
This year, the quadruple threat made his first appearance in the big screen with “I’m A Cyborg, but That’s Okay,” which was directed by renowned director, Park-Chan Wook.
For this role in which he portrayed a patient of a mental hospital, he was nominated for best actor in the Asian Film Awards.
This year, Rain is holding his Rain’s Coming world tour, which is in the hands of world-class producers and stage designers such as Jamie King and Roy Bennett, who were also involved in concert tours of other music icons such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, U2, Britney Spears, The Rolling Stones, and Ricky Martin.
Following his world tour, Rain plans on creating an album for the United States market, and aims to become the first Asian to break through into the American music scene.
Rain is gradually breaking down the many racial barriers that currently exist in America. Unfortunately, we live in a country in which an Asian face is not considered marketable.
With Rain’s fame continuing to grow both in Asia and abroad, not only is he making thousands of fans throughout the globe, he is leading a cultural movement that may forever change the American Entertainment industry.
It votes for the unlimited potential for activity in Rain and his United States of the future and the world.
Please hear the person who has not listened to his song once by all means.
Please look at the person who has not seen his stage once by all means.
Please do not say one degree and look at the person who doesn't have wanting see his acting.
Because people all over the world should surely feel happy feelings.

Rain definately deserves to be high on this list. He is widely known throughout Asia, yet other than that, he is not recognised enough elsewhere for his hardwork.
Rain has perserverance, dancing for FIVE hours non-stop during an audition.
He is a great example of chasing your dream no matter how tiring it may be.
Not to mention, he is also an ambassador for children affected with AIDS.
He helps charity, and with the money made from some merchandise sold during his World Tour, it will go towards children who have been affected some way by AIDS.
I only got to know Rain about 15 months ago., when I bought his First Consert. dvd, it is fatastide!!! I've been many live conserts before, but Rain's the best.
Then I went on his sites to find out more. Everything about him is so possitive.
Rain gives a lot of his money for charity , extremely hardworking, respect his elders, extremely polite, love for his family, friends and fans.
He is a lot more mature than his age.
He is a perfect model for young people.

Rain should be the most influential person this year because he works really hard to become what he is today.
which is asia's most popular and important super star.
all this fame is not gain by luck, he worked for it. when he was 18 his mom die, because their family dosen't have enough money.
and from that time on he work really hard, starting with back up dancer to first album to third album. finally in 2004 he got famous.
untill today he only sleep 2 hours a day and he never ask for special request on what to eat what to wear like the other stars.
he never change, and he donate money to kids in different place in the world .
i think he is the most infulence person in the world, he lets me know how a real star should contirbute to the world and he influence kids that needs help.

Some people think that he will never make it in America, because Americans simply don't understand him.
What's so hard to understand?
A down to earth person who is worthy of all the attention he gets, is in my eyes better than someone like Paris Hilton who makes music because she "feels like like it."
And NO I'm not Asian, nor black. I'm not living in America or Asia. I'm a white girl from Sweden, in northern Europe.

Rain - simply the best ^^ No matter where is he come from, how old is he, just look at what he's done for us - the Cloud, in my heart Rain simply the best...always ^^
My top pick would be Rain/Bi Singer because of who he is He is such an inspiring person who endures so much for his fans.
Also I here so many stories of the ppl he inspires: A young girl suffering from cerebal palsy is depressed an giving up hope but since learning about Rain and his suffering to get to place where he is now she is happier Rain fan.
She is enthusiastic about life now.

RAIN is a role model for the youth. He has touched the lives of many people because of his success thru hardship and patience.
I think RAIN is the hottest person in this year.RAIN has held world tour through approxiately 10 nationality and now the world tour is conitnue.
The world tour is very interestig, exciting, etc. He fascinates all the world with his multi-talent.
"Rain's Coming" is one year of planning, a total cost of 38,000,000,000 won (5,000,000,000 Japanese yen), 11 hours of dance lessons and 5 hours of voice training daily for 3 months before the performance, an enormous 300 ton stage apparatus and 130 lights constructed by 200 staff - a miraculous stage for 600,000 people mobilized at 35 performances in 12 of the world's countries.
RAIN has changed my life. I have never admired anyone before I met RAIN when he held 'RAIN's coming " in Viet Nam in March .
I think he is the best mirror for me to stuydy.
