Roy one fight from retirement? By Trinidad Guzman Roy Jones Jr. could be one fight away from hanging up his gloves for good. Jones told the assembled media on a teleconference phone call today that after he defeats Antonio Tarver on May 15th, if he is then unsuccessful in landing a mega heavyweight showdown with the likes of Mike Tyson or Vitali Klitschko that he would look to fight one more time in his home town of Pensacola, Florida and then call it quits. “I want to fight one fight in Pensacola before I retire.” Jones has been boxing since the age of ten and claims to have been thinking about hanging up the gloves for some time now. “I have been thinking about retiring since 1997 or 1998, Twenty-five years of boxing can’t be good for your health.” When asked why he has continued in the sport for this long Jones simply stated that it was the “challenges” that kept him coming back for more. Jones not only faces the “challenge” of Antonio Tarver on May 15th but also the “challenge” of once again coming down in weight from 199 pounds to 175 pounds for this fight. “ The weight was a big drop but I knew that if I could deal with it once I could deal with it again.” Stay tuned for more Roy Jones Jr. coverage later in the week.
WBC to be dissolved? By Karl Freitag and Andre Courtemanche The WBC may soon be no more. Word is the sanctioning body is on the verge of collapse under the burden of the $30+ million judgement won by former light heavyweight champion Graciano Rocchigianni that forced the Mexico City-based organization into bankruptcy. It is expected that WBC President Jose Sulaiman may try to launch a new sanctioning organization, but according to sources, if that is the case, perhaps less then half of the WBC's member organizations will follow. "The WBC is no longer alive," a reliable source told Fightnews.com. "Jose Sulaiman has maybe the support of 30% of the people. I understand he has the support of the OBBF...the key organization that is not going to follow him is the NABF." Ironically, the NABF convention is scheduled for Mexico later this month. Another source told Fightnews that it will be another day or two before any decision becomes official. It is not known what will happen to the WBC's champions at this point, but it is hard to imagine a world without the famous green belt.
Jose Sulaiman, president of the WBC, declared today that the unity of the sanctioning body he presides over "is unbreakable and stronger than ever." In a statement to Notimex, Sulaiman denied a report by Fightnews.com that the WBC may be on the verge of collapse and will try to launch a new sanctioning organization. "It is false and I have no comments in regards to that by advice of my lawyers. I can say that aside of that information, the world unity of the organization in unbreakable and stronger than ever." Meanwhile the organization's Executive Secretary Mauricio Sulaiman told AFP "The WBC is alive and has the support of 161 countries and still sends financial relief to hundreds of fighters around the world. We have no plans to change the name and our 17 world champions, from minimumweight to heavyweight, can continue to proudly display their green belts."

UPDATE: The WBC will soon hold an official meeting in Kiev, Ukraine, where Jos? Sulaiman will address the situation and basically announce the creation of a new governing body. WBC to dissolve? Part II! 溶かすべきWBC?部分II! By Karl Freitag and Andre Courtemanche カールFreitagおよびアンドレCourtemancheによって The make or break date for the WBC will be either April 11 or 12, a reliable source confirmed to Fightnews.com today. At that time, the WBC must declare whether or not it will go into the Chapter 7 stage of bankruptcy (liquidation) or reach a settlement with Graciano Rocchigianni, who won a $30+ million court judgement from the Mexico City-based sanctioning organization. The source did not know whether negotiations between the WBC and Rocchigianni are currently taking place. Another option would be to terminate the bankruptcy and continue doing business, however that would allow Rocchigianni to attach WBC santioning fees (especially for events in the United States, presumably as soon as the May 15 Jones-Tarver bout in Las Vegas for the very light heavyweight title that led to the WBC's current woes). It is a fact that a court proceeding took place on April 6 in Puerto Rico where the WBC was given 30 days to make a decision. However, the sanctioning body bought a few extra days while the paperwork was being prepared. Yesterday, WBC President Jose Sulaiman denied Fightnews.com's report that the WBC was on the verge of dissolving or establishing a new entity. Stay tuned.

After a good start by Medjkoune, Monshipour began to dictate the pace and hurt his foe in rounds five and seven. The defending champ then floored his challenger twice in round eight, forcing Medjkoune's corner to throw in the towel and stop the fight. Undercard results to come.
Tyson sued for 15 million! By Lisa Scott It was bound to happen, but it was just a matter of, 'when?'. 'Iron' Mike Tyson has been sued by one of the men involved in last years altercation at the Brooklyn Marriot Hotel. According to the NY Post, Samuel Velez filed a 15 million dollar lawsuit in Brooklyn Federal Court on Wednesday and claims to now suffer facial numbness and short term memory loss. In that pre dawn incident last June, Tyson claimed he was waiting for his limo to arrive when Velez and another man and woman began taunting him after he refused their request for an autograph. The former two-time heavyweight champ said he was forced to defend himself when Velez reached towards his waitsband and stated "You've got fists, but we've got guns." In February, Tyson plead guilty to disorderly conduct in that fracas and was sentenced to do 100 hours of community service at Gleason's Gym, teaching underprivlidged children how to box. Charges of menacing against Velez were dropped in March. Currently, Tyson is in Phoenix Arizona training with Freddie Roach for his upcoming bout with Kevin McBride on July 31st. Then, he can fight for the championship of the world against any one of them."

Gatti-Dorin a hot ticket! Arturo Gatti’s popularity with boxing fans continues to prove itself daily. Today, at 2:00 pm ET, tickets for his July 24 WBC title defense against Leonard Dorin at Boardwalk Hall went on sale to the general public. One hour later at 3:00 pm ET, Bally’s Atlantic City President Ken Condon contacted Main Events CEO Kathy Duva to inform her that there are now fewer than 5,000 tickets remaining for purchase by the public. "Arturo Gatti gives the public what they want , which is action," said Duva. "People swarm the box office when he fights because they want to witness one of his legendary performances in person. If it’s incredible to watch on television, it’s even more amazing in person."
Holyfield To Fight In November Posted on Friday, May 28 @ 19:45:46 CDT Topic: Holyfield By Brad Cooney I spoke with the Evander Holyfield Camp on Wednesday afternoon. As of right now the only guarnantee is that Evander Holyfield will fight in November. I asked Tavisa Thomas (Evander's Assistant) if Holyfield/ Klitschko rumors had any validity. Ms Thomas explained that, "As of right now, no opponent has officially been named". Thomas went on to say that "Right now, a fight in November for Evander Holyfield will happen, the opponent has not yet been named". In speaking with Evander in April, he told me that he was was not ready to call it quits. Evander went on to say that he will continue to do what he does well, and that is to fight. Evander Holyfield wants to continue on with his boxing career. Many in the sport of boxing, and fans as well do not feel he should go on. I have my own opinion of this as well, that I choose to keep to myself. But, I know this much.. I believe that Evander knows better than anyone else what he feels, and what he wants to do is have a shot at one more World Title. Evander told me that he see's it as minimizing his risk to injury by doing something he feels he does well, and that is to fight.Whatever happens next for Evander, I wish the Champ well. I will stay on the story, and update as soon as news breaks. Email Brad Cooney with comments [email protected]

The blonde Scandinavian puncher retired in 1993 with a record of 19-3, 11KOs. Magne was 40-year old; among his finest victories there were some against such durable foes as Tyrone Booze, Daniel Netto and Johnny Nelson. Floyd Mayweather Jr. Wants Arturo Gatti and Kostya Tszyu By Kirk Lang May 31, 2004; “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather Jr. proved in his junior welterweight debut against DeMarcus Corley that he still carries plenty of pop in his punches. A former WBC champion at 130 and 135 pounds, he registered two knockdowns on his way to winning a lopsided decision against Corley, a former WBO 140-pound belt holder, by scores of 119-108, 119-107 and 118-108. While the HBO televised fight was a crowd pleaser and was a nice test for Mayweather, “Pretty Boy” wants nothing but big fights from here on out.
Saenghiran defeats #13 Lunas! By Damrong Simakajornboon WBC #23 Saenghiran Lookbanyai (8-0, 6KOs) impressively retained his ABC bantam title as he outpointed WBA #13 Rolly Lunas (16-3, 9 KOs) on Monday at Mongkutkasat school in Bangkok, Thailand. This bout was the third title defense of a former Muaythai king who destroyed well-known OPBF champ Jess Maca on September 19. Although there were no knockdowns, both fighters landed bombs in a very exciting bout. Saenghiran proved the better man with his aggressive style, exchanging toe-to-toe with his Filipino foe most of the bout in scoring a 115-111, 115-111, 117-110 unanimous decision win. Both fighters were deducted a point for head butts in round eight. In other action, PABA welter king Sintung Kietbusaba won a six round unanimous decision over PABA #4 Rev Santillan. And ABC #7 superfeather Fujimi Victorygym (8-0,1KO) outpointed RP#7 Al Deliguer.

Arguello enters political ring in Nicaragua MANAGUA - Former boxing champion Alexis Argüello's office walls are peppered with mementoes of the time 20 years ago when he was considered the world's best boxer. There are the three championship belts won by the former Miami resident and photographs of him with Muhammad Ali, former President George Bush and Sylvester Stallone. Once famous and rich, today Argüello is neither. A recovering boozer and drug addict, the 52-year-old now runs a gym in a rough Managua neighborhood and is running for deputy mayor of the capital on the ticket of the leftist Sandinista Front.
Chris John training in Kyei Gym, Tokyo (Photo by Hardi Wibowo) Chris John, who will defend his WBA featherweight belt on Friday at Ariake Colosseum, Tokyo, Japan, says he's enjoying Japan and feels confident that he'll retain his title against Japanese challenger Osamu Sato (No. 8 WBA). John's title in his own country, Indonesia, is not very well respected and he is considered by some local media as a paper champion. He was upgraded from WBA interim titlist to the "regular" title following Derrick Gainer's loss from Juan Manuel Marquez, who later became WBA super champion and IBF champion in the 126lb. division. Thus far, the world boxing community is ambivalent about Chris John, as his impressive undefeated record of 33-0 with 19 KOs was compiled in Indonesia. His victory against the former world contender Oscar Leon in Bali, Indonesia, September 2003, to win WBA interim belt was not enough for him to receive much recognition. John hopes if he wins this fight against the respected ex-WBA 122-pound world champ Sato, he can receive recognition as a champion in his own country as well as in the world of boxing. However, whether John or Sato wins the bout, Asian fighters will continue to dominate the featherweight division. With talented champions Manny Pacquiao (People's champion), In Jin-chi (WBC) and now John or Sato (WBA). Juan Manuel Marquez (Super WBA + IBF) is currently the only non-Asian champion in the big three's 126lb ranks.

Calzaghe is due to challenge Glen Johnson for the IBF light heavyweight title on June 12 in his first fight at 175lbs. Inspector Michael Vaughan of the Gwent Police said Calzaghe was arrested and later released on police bail. Witter destroys Battaglia! By Katty Theunissen Commonwealth 140lb champ Junior Witter (29-1-2) won the vacant European crown at jr. welter stopping Italian contender Salvatore Battaglia (21-4) in two rounds minutes ago at Nottingham, England. Battaglia boxed well in the opening minutes but then got caught by a right uppercut and sank on the bottom rope where he got his first count. The Italian co-challenger barely survived the round and was caught again early in the second - he beat the count but, after a fierce exchange, he was down again for the third time and referee Daniel Van de Wiele waved it off after 1:18 of the second.
Cory Spinks’ next world welterweight title defense could well come against former world lightweight champion Miguel Angel Gonzalez on the October 2 Felix Trinidad-Ricardo Mayorga pay-per-card in Las Vegas . Spinks won the title from Mayorga last December and defended it in April with a close points win over Zab Judah . Gonzalez, who has won five fights in a row – all by knockout, is 50-3-1 (40) but hasn’t been in the limelight since a thorough pummeling at the hands of Kostya Tszyu back in 1999.
Hopkins set for business after deal with Arum The Sun Middleweight champ to defend title for 18th time Self-managed and known as a tough negotiator, undisputed middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins admits to being bowled over when he first sat with promoter Bob Arum, fellow fighter Oscar De La Hoya and the fighters' legal representatives. They got together earlier this year to discuss a two-fight deal in which Hopkins would first face Robert Allen, then face De La Hoya. On his end, De La Hoya would first face Felix Sturm before advancing to the fight with Hopkins. Contingent in the deal is that both Hopkins and De La Hoya would win those first fights, which are scheduled for Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. If Hopkins and De La Hoya both win, they'll fight Sept. 18 at the same site. "I listened to Bob and found him reasonable and honest, " said Hopkins, who appeared Monday in the main lobby of the MGM to go through a brief workout and pump up the holiday crowd. "I'm not a dumb guy, but I'm not the smartest either," Hopkins said, referring to the initial meeting between the fighters and their legal reps. "But I do know it's a lot easier to work out the details of a fight
package when you're not being bamboozled."That was 90 percent of this deal. I was shocked. "When things are going this good, it isn't the time to be paranoid." The latter is a reference to Hopkins' built-in wariness toward promoters in general. To this day he has a $3 million lawsuit against promoter Don King pending and a number of anecdotal incidents that forged his negative impression of promoters.

IBF movers cruiser weight limit to 200 By Scott Shaffer June 03, 2004; The IBF followed the lead of the other three major sanctioning bodies by increasing the weight limit in the cruiserweight division from 190 to 200 pounds. The change, which was approved at the IBF convention today in San Francisco, will be instituted on a one-year trial basis with reconsideration to come at next year's convention. The change is good news to IBF cruiserweight titlist Kelvin Davis because it increases the likelihood that he will be able to participate in unification bouts with other 200-pound champions WBA champ Jean Marc Mormeck and WBC champ Wayne Braithwaite. All three share a common promoter, Don King. In other convention news, the IBF delayed until Saturday a vote on whether all mandatory contenders will have the right to go to a purse bid to enforce their rights. As the rule is currently written, only those mandatory contenders who participated in an elimination bout can demand a purse bid. The boxers who will be most affected by the vote are Jameel McCline and Chris Byrd. McCline is the mandatory challenger for Byrd's heavyweight title but since there has been no elimination bout, it is unclear how can he enforce his rights if he can't come to terms with King, who also promotes Byrd. King was not in town for the scheduled vote on Thursday, but he is expected to arrive shortly and the matter has been postponed for two days.
Major Players for September 11th Card in Vegas By Ricardo Lois June 03, 2004; H.B.O. has a boxing event in the plans for September 11, 2004, in Puerto Rico. As reported, Miguel Cotto against Kelson Pintor for the W.B.O. Welterweight Title could be the main event for the night of boxing. Along with the bout between former amateur rivals, there has been a push to add a battle for the W.B.O. Junior Middleweight Title between Daniel Santos and Antonio Margarito. This week in Las Vegas, all the major players involved in the negotiations for both of the potential bouts will be meeting to iron out the details for those fights. If the fights are to be made, the time is now, with Peter Rivera (manager to Cotto), Ricardo Maldonado (manager to Pintor and Santos), and Sergio Diaz (manager to Margarito) all in Las Vegas, Top Rank's hometown, hoping to make September 11th a memorable night of boxing.
Guerrero dominates Sanchez! Robert Guerrero proved he belongs in the featherweight title mix with an impressive stoppage of Enrique Sanchez Thurday night at the Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City, Oregon. Guerrero (13-0-1) looked very impressive as he took the fight to the former world champion from the opening bell. Sanchez, who is prone to cuts, was cut over the right eye by a punch in round three. Guerrero continued his domination until the Sanchez corner decided they wanted no more afer round eight. Earlier, Jorge Martinez won the NABF featherweight crown with a twelve round unanimous decision over Juan Carlos Ramirez. The bout was a slugfest from the beginning with Martinez, despite a closed left eye, pouring it on in the final round. Ramirez was deducted a point in round eleven, which ultimately cost him his belt. Scores were 114-113, 114-113, 115-112.
PPV card in jeopardy! Promoter Bob Arum has said that if Bernard Hopkins fails to fight Saturday night, the entire pay-per-view card will be canceled, as will the proposed September 18 De La Hoya-Hopkins megafight. Hopkins yesterday threatened to pull out of Saturday's title defense against Robert Allen due to the choice of referee Joe Cortez. The Nevada commission has indicated it will not honor Hopkins' demand for a change of referees, and Cortez has stated that he is not inclined to step aside. Arum called Cortez' position "ludicrous" saying he should referee a different fight on the card to save the promotion. He also stated that if Hopkins does not fight, it will "be the end of his boxing career." All fighters on the card are scheduled to weigh-in later today. Stay tuned...

WBC PRESIDENTIAL FAMILY VICTIM OF KIDNAP! If you thought things had gotten about as stressful for WBC President Jose Sulaiman as they could, I’m talking about those down to the wire negotiations with their ex-champ Graciano Rocchigiani who had beaten him in Court, you were wrong! Sulaiman’s niece Nellie was kidnapped, and as of yesterday afternoon had not been released! No word as to whether there has been talk between relatives and the kidnappers. Although this is obviously a life-threatening situation, people in Mexico with a few bucks are often kidnapped and released after a Ransom is paid. But on occasion, as does anything involving crooks, things happen! We wish Nelly a speedy return to her family
Nakanuma demolishes Rodrigo! By Joe Koizumi WBC #15 ranked flyweight Trash Nakanuma (24-5, 11 KOs), 113.75, dropped Filipino fly champ Edgar Rodrigo (10-5-4, 5 KOs), 113.25, four times en route to a fine stoppage at 2:06 of the eighth round on Saturday night in Tokyo, Japan. Nakanuma, who had failed to win the WBC throne via close but unanimous nod in a grueling bout this January, proved too pugnacious and powerful for Rodrigo, a game southpaw, sending him to the canvas each twice in the seventh and eighth. Rodrigo, who had shown a gallant performance against Noriyuki Komatsu in a bid for the OPBF belt despite a defeat last February, fought very well, exchanging solid shots toe-to-toe in early rounds. Undercard: Ex-Japanese 115-pound champ Prosper Matsuura (23-5, 11 KOs ), 115, scored an easy KO win over Thai #6 ranked Pongsak Pongchareon (5-6, 1 KO), 113.5, decking him three times at 1:57 of the third round. Osamu Nakane (10-2, 6 KOs), 129, pounded out a shutout decision (80-72, 80-73 and 80-84) over Thailander Chondan Sor Romayanon (2-5, 1 KO), 130, over eight. Promoter: Kokusai Promotions.
Sanavia tops Beyer in Germany! By Alessandro Ferrarini Former European middleweight champ Cristian Sanavia of Italy had a successful debut at the supermiddle limit, as he decisioned defending champion Markus Beyer to win the WBC 168lb title in Chemnitz, Germany. Sanavia (33-1) shocked the German boxing world and handed Markus Beyer (29-2) the second loss of his career: the Italian challenger showed an excellent handspeed and landed a few clean shots out of his southpaw stance in the opening rounds. Fellow southpaw Beyer had his moments during the bout but Sanavia was mentally ready for the clash and never gave up an inch despite fighting in his opponent's backyard. Phillips wins IBF 154lb title! By Ludo Saenz at ringside Junior middleweight Verno Phillips stopped late sub Carlos Bojorquez Saturday night to win the IBF title Saturday night at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center in Joplin, Missouri. Phillips (38-9-1, 20 KOs) was in control all the way, finally dropping Bojorquez (22-4-6, 18 KOs) with a body shot at the end of round six. Phillips, a former WBO champion, now muct face #1 rated Kasim Ouma, who pulled out of this fight with an injury. The belt was vacated when Winky Wright was stripped for not facing Ouma. Earlier, in a battle of unbeaten super middleweights, Jeff Lacy (16-0, 13 KOs) and Vitali Tsypko (15-0, 8 KOs) retained their respetvive "Os" in a no-decision. Tsypko sustained a deep vertical cut over the left eye by a clash of heads in round one. Lacy began teeing off on Tsypko in round two, however after the round the fight was stopped due to Tsypko's cut. The fight was an IBF super middleweight eliminator, with the winner to face #1 Syd Vanderpool for the IBF's vacant super middleweight title. Promoter Gary Shaw said he is going to seek to put Lacy directly in against Vanderpool next, rather than seek a rematch with Tsypko.
Calzaghe-Johnson off! By Karl Freitag Promoter Frank Warren notified Goossen Tutor Promotions earlier today that WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe will not be able to face IBF light heavyweight champion Glengoffe Johnson on June 12 as scheduled. "Frank Warren gave me a call today and told me that Calzaghe injured his back," promoter Dan Goossen told Fightnews.com. "We'll huddle up Monday with Warren and try to reschedule it." Calzaghe was recently arrested in a domestic dispute which also likely affected his preparation for the fight. "I’ve really numb today mainly for Glen Johnson because this is the second time that a major fight of his has been postponed," Goossen added. "I know that he’s a professional and all of that, but I just wanted to see him make some real good money and was so confident he was going to win. I just feel bad for Glen because he’s the one that really gets thrown back on based up on his hard training that he went through. I just want to try to get him back into the ring, give him a shot as soon as possible."
Tyson: ''Hopkins Will Knock De La Hoya's Head Off'' Posted on Monday, June 07 @ 00:20:38 CDT Topic: Tyson By Rick Reeno It appears that former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, sees very little chance of Oscar De La Hoya upseting Bernard Hopkins in September. Tyson saw the fight live in Las Vegas and was unimpressed by Oscar De La Hoya's performance. "There's no way he beats Bernard Hopkins fighting like he did tonight," Mike Tyson said. "If he does, he's going to get his head knocked off." "Bernard Hopkins was in better shape then De La Hoya and you could see the difference in the last couple of rounds." "Oscar De La Hoya is not strong enough for this division" Many boxing experts have put the nail in coffin of De La Hoya after watching his bout with Sturm, they feel that Hopkins will knock De La Hoya out. Oscar for whatever reason, is still confident that he will defeat Hopkins in September. Oscar said that Hopkins will be his last fight and it very well may be, because Hopkins will be looking to send him into retirement.

Mike Tyson licensed to fight in Kentucky! By Steven Saks June 09, 2004; It looks like the possibility of Mike Tyson's next fight coming to Louisville, KY may be coming to fruition. During last weeks interview with Chris Webb of Straight Out Promotions we found out that there has been some talk of bringing the fight to Louisville and that Chris "has been involved with what's going on with Mike's career for the last 11 months now". A call today to Mike Cunningham, Commissioner of the Kentucky State Athletic Commission has confirmed that Mike Tyson's license to fight in the State of Kentucky has been renewed within the last few days, thus removing one of the potential stumbling blocks to bringing the fight to Louisville. Numerous messages have been left at the Missouri State Athletic commission to find out about a license to fight in St. Louis but I have not yet received a response. This would be Mike's second fight since his June 2002 K.O. loss to Lennox Lewis and would come after a lay-off of close to a year and a half. Mike is currently training in Arizona with Freddy Roach and his rumored opponent would be Kevin McBride (31-4-1) who has fought and lost to the likes of Axel Schulz and DaVarryl Williamson

Larios defeats Perez! WBC super bantamweight champion Oscar "Chololo" Larios scored a unanimous ten round decision over Jesus Perez in a non-title bout fought at the featherweight limit Friday night in Fort Worth, Texas. Perez (23-5-2) was game, but hurt his chances by spending almost as much time mugging as he did fighting. Larios (52-3-1, 35 KOs), was all business as he applied the pressure and did most of the damage. A headbutt in round nine left Larios bleeding over the left eye. Scores were 96-94, 96-94, 98-92. The bout headlined "Oscar De La Hoya' s 2nd Annual Fight Night at Sundance Square," which took place in a packed temporary arena constructed in a downtown parking lot located in front of the Chisholm Trail mural. In the co-feature, Olympian bantamweight Daniel Ponce De Leon was extended the distance for the first time in his career as he took a ten round nod over former WBU boss Carlos Contreras. Ponce De Leon closed strongly, but the scores of 98-92, 97-93, 97-93 seemed a little too wide.

Abazi tops former champ Ledwaba! By Alessandro Ferrarini at ringside Top ranked featherweight Spend Abazi (30-1) of Denmark offered an impressive performance in front of his fans on Friday at the KB-Hallen in Copenhagen, dismantling former world champ Lehlohonolo Ledwaba (35-3-1) of South Africa in twelve competitive rounds of boxing for the WBA-Intl belt. Abazi had some great moments during the fight and floored his foe with a vicious right hand in round five. Still, the ol d saying 'protect yourself at any time' proved to be an useful suggestion, as the Dane lost his focus during the final minute of the clash and Ledwaba knocked him down with a clean right cross. The South African tried to end matters but the final bell helped Abazi, who was declared the winner through scores of 118-111; 115-112 and 1 17-110. After this outing Abazi should fight Chris John for the WBA world title within the end of the year. Saturday, June 12 2004

Tyson-McBride in Kentucky on 7/30! By Lisa Scott After weeks of negotiations that wavered on fight dates and venues, things have finally taken shape on the Mike Tyson-Kevin McBride showdown. Shelly Finkel told Fightnews, “It looks like Mike will be fighting McBride on July 30th in Louisville Kentucky. The fight will be televised on Showtime and it will be a PPV event.” In April, Top Rank’s Bob Arum secured the July 31st date (Saturday) for his PPV match-up between Erik Morales and Carlos Hernandez. The Tyson-McBride fight was also scheduled on the same day, but it was changed in order to avoid a conflict like there was last October 4 when head-to- head pay-per-view events hurt both promotions (Toney-Holyfield and Morales-Espadas). Regarding the persistent rumor that Tony Brown of CMX was in discussions with Team Tyson, Finkel states “Yes, we were talking with CMX. But we have not come to any terms with them.” Finkle also added that a fight between Tyson and light heavyweight champ Antonio Tarver was a “very strong possibility.”
Dear Mr. Graciano Rocchigiani, We are the two current WBC world champions from Japan, both of whom are scheduled to defend our belts here on this coming June 28. We are greatly shocked to know that the WBC has declared bankruptcy. As world champions of the WBC we have found an opportunity to become famous, make money and proudly represent our country in this great sport of boxing. It is our honor and privilege to hold the WBC world belts and keep on defending our belts. We boxers put our lives for the sport, for the fans, for our families, as you perfectly know what it is. As world champions, as you were, we sincerely wish you to settle with the WBC, and let us fight to defend our WBC belts. Please don't make our WBC belts meaningless. How will we explain to our fans that are ready to see our title defenses on June 28? How will we explain to our children that we are no longer world champions? We have worked many years to become world champions, and that cannot be finished in one day. We beg for your warmest consideration from our bottom of hearts. With our very best personal wishes,
James Toney has been given clearance to resume training from orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tony Daly this week. Toney was scheduled to take on Jameel McCline in February before rupturing his Achilles tendon while training for the bout. He had been coming off of two high-profiled bouts against Vassiliy Jirov and Evander Holyfield that thrust him up the ratings in the heavyweight division. Toney is rumored towards a possible September showdown with current WBO titlist Lamon Brewster on HBO.

Trinidad-Mayorga presser! By Matt Richardson The October 2 showdown between Felix Trinidad and Ricardo Mayorga at Madison Square Garden was officially announced today by promoter Don King at a press conference in New York City. Trinidad was in attendance, while Mayorga participated via remote hookup. "No matter what you do, Tito, you are a loser and you're gong to fail," stated Mayorga. "I'll even give you a video for free so you can see how you lose." Trinidad responded by saying, "I don't want him to make any more excuses. Keep him out of trouble [alluding to Mayorga's recent legal troubles in Nicaragua]. I just want him in the ring on October 2." Trinidad and Mayorga will be battling in a twelve-rounder for the WBA International middleweight title. It was also announced that welterweight Zab Judah will face an opponent to be named and WBC cruiser champion Wayne Braithwaite and WBA champion Jean Marc Mormeck will likely meet in a 200lb unification matchup, although that bout isn't yet signed. (More to come)
CBF moves to ten-rounders! The Canadian Boxing Federation made some important rule changes at the Annual General Meeting of the group in Halifax a week ago Saturday (June 5). Members commissions from across Canada decided to follow countries such as Australia and Brazil in reducing the national championship matches from twelve rounds to ten. New CBF President Jerry Doiron said the move was based on several factors, but primarily the safety of boxers. He pointed out that many of Canada's rated boxers have limited experience, and competing for twelve rounds was just too much for many of these athletes. He hoped that one positive effect would be an increase of CBF title matches, given more boxers could be considered for the ten round limit. The CBF also decided to fall in line with the United States commissions and adopt the Association of Boxing Commission's Unified rules for championship matches. CBF Secretary Ed Pearson proposed the move, suggesting that many of Canada's boxers are, or will at some point, box in the United States, and one set of championship rules for everyone is a positive step forward. Al MacKechnie from Edmonton, having completed his 3 year term as CBF President was replaced by Moncton's Jerry Doiron, a former CPBF President, who most recently was the CBF's Championship Chairman. In addition, Ratings Chairman Orest Zmyndak of Edmonton was elected Vice President, replacing Dick MacLean of Halifax; and Maureen Black of Winnipeg was appointed Championships Chairman.

WBA strips Tszyu! Kostya Tszyu has been stripped of his WBA super lightweight "super" world title for not agreeing to make a mandatory defense of his title within the time WBA rules allow. Tszyu, who also holds the IBF and WBC "champion emeritas" titles, has been idled by injuries since January 2003, and is scheduled to face IBF interim champion Sharmba Mitchell next. With Tszyu's title vacated, Vivian Harris, who held the organization's "regular" version of the title, becomes the sole 140lb WBA beltholder. According to a letter from WBA attorney Robert E. Mack addresed to Tszyu attorney John Ajaka and Main Events attorney Patrick English, Renzo Bagnariol (Chairman of the WBA World Championships Committee) has made the decision to vacate Tszyu's title, although Tszyu has the right to appeal the determination.
Tszyu-Mitchell II Nov.6 In Australia By G. Leon June 14, 2004; Just minutes ago, promoter Gary Shaw informed Boxingtalk.com that terms for the eagerly anticipated Kostya Tszyu-Sharmba Mitchell rematch have been agreed upon. Tszyu-Mitchell II will take place on November 6 in Australia and be televised on Showtime Championship Boxing. "We just agreed to terms earlier today, so you have one of your, you heard it first's on this one," said Mitchell's promoter. What does Shaw think about the WBA stripping Kostya Tszyu? "I believe that WBA and Main Events have done a disservice to Vivian Harris. Everyone can agree that the winner of Tszyu and Mitchell is THE man at 140, and by stripping Tszyu all they've done is made sure that THE man isn't obligated to fight Harris next.!" Main Events' attorney Pat English sarcastically told Boxingtalk.com, "Yeah, like the man was going to fight him next anyway, people have been ducking Harris." (I imagine that includes Main Events cash cow WBC junior welterweight champ Arturo Gatti, whose management never seem too interested in making a Harris fight) English stated that the bottom line is Main Events objective was to ensure that Harris get his title so that he can further advance his career.
WBC update! By Karl Freitag WBC president Jose Sulaiman released a statement last week indicating that the organization will instruct its counsel to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation proceedings on June 14, however no paperwork was filed on Monday. There is hope on the WBC's part that boxer Graciano Rocchigiani, who won a $31 million judgement against the Mexico City-based sanctioning body, will accept a settlement offer to satify the debt. El Nuevo Dia has reported that the offer is $1 million now plus $100,000 to $250,000 a year for twenty years. There are rumors that Rocchigiani is rejecting the WBC's settlement offer because another party (possibly connected to an existing sanctioning organization) is willing to offer Rocchigiani more money, which could allow it to take over the WBC name, belt designs and other assets, essentially keeping a form of the well-known organization afloat under new management. ---------- Meanwhile there is already a scramble by lesser sanctioning bodies to coronate possibly future disenfranchised WBC champions. The Universal Boxing Council, an obscure organization based in Cartagena, Colombia, has appointed most of the WBC Champions as their own UBC world champions.
NEWS FLASH Why Mayorga was not in NY! By Ludo Saenz News agencies in Nicaragua have reported that Ricardo Mayorga paid a bail of $315 to avoid spending time in jail after a new legal charge was leveled against him. Mayorga was accused last week of causing physical harm and making death threats against 22-year-old Sergio Cortés Ramírez, who testified against Mayorga in the city of Masaya, 40 miles west of Nicaragua's capital, Managua. Cortés Ramírez claims that Mayorga threatened him with a pistol and then punched him in the face last week in the early hours of Monday morning. Mayorga has denied the accusations. "I did no harm," stated Mayorga to local press. "Actually I was the victim." Due to his new legal woes, Mayorga was unable to attend yesterday's press conference in New York to officially announce his October 2 megafight with Tito Trinidad.
June 15, 2004; In an unprecedented move, WBC Light-Heavyweight Champion Antonio Tarver is willing to put his goals and aspirations to the side and give Graciano Rocchigiani, who is claimaing that this isn't about the money, a shot at the title he so covets.
"I am so proud to represent the WBC as their champion. The green and gold to me represents the most prestigious belt any fighter can attain in this sport. I would be remiss to see this organization with its rich history go away because of one fighter. When I fought Roy Jones, Jr. in November 2003, WBC president Jose Sulaiman and his board of governors felt that my performance in the ring merited an immediate rematch and they voted with their hearts to see what I and so many people in boxing saw as an injustice in the ring. I wonder where I would be today had the WBC not stepped up for me?
"No other organization in boxing has the heritage and prestige of this great organization. We the fighters have so much to be grateful to the WBC for. Many of the safe guards to protect fighters in the ring were instituted by the WBC. Its membership in over 160 countries world wide is a testament to their long and distinguished history. Today, many prior WBC champions are still looked after through the WBC pension fund.
"I recognize that I represent only but a small part of the WBC as far as their history is concerned, but, if I could help save this organization in this critical period, my actions would be miniscule compared to what the WBC has done for fighters like me over the past 40 years. I can only hope that Mr. Rocoggini puts his differences to the side and thinks of all the great fighters, famous, and not so famous who came before us. As a fighter I can understand his desire to be crowned a world champion. His dream of being a world champion has always been my dream. If he wishes, I can help him realize his dream and hopefully that small gesture on my part can help bring life back to the green and gold, the belt that I wear with dignity and pride."
Tyson's PPV Could Go Up In Smoke! June 16, 2004; Mike Tyson's July 30 return to the ring could be on the verge of collapse. Chris Webb, President of Straight Out Promotions, and the man putting up all of the money for the July 30 show told Boxingtalk.com, "Mike is in shape, he really wants to fight and he has the desire to again become the heavyweight champion of the world." That sounds good, but Tyson has yet to sign a contract. Webb stated, "I'm confident something will get done within the next 24-48 hours, however, if a deal is not finalized by then, I'm going to have to call the whole show off!" Boxingtalk.com will continue to keep you updated as this situation develops. Will the show go on, or will the plug get pulled? Only time will tell.

WBC Receives Thirty Day Reprieve! June 17, 2004; The WBC has gotten a thirty-day reprieve from possible liquidation today. The United States Bankruptcy Court in the district of Puerto Rico allowed the troubled sanctioning body thirty additional days to either go out of business or reach a deal with retired boxer Graciano Rocchigiani, who is owed over $30 million dollars by the WBC for taking his championship away from him and giving it to Roy Jones. The court made the ruling yesterday at the request of both parties. It was the second such request that has been granted. The WBC has stated that Rocchigiani rejected an offer that it considered generous, and rumors persist that a European entity is interested in letting Rocchigiani take over the sanctioning body's assets (including their champions and brand name) and then purchasing those assets.
Pongsaklek's defense official! Petchyindee Boxing Promotion announced that WBC flyweight champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam will defend his title against WBC#23 Luis Angel Martinez of Mexico as the main event on July 15 in Khonkaen, Thailand. Martinez is now the WBC Fecarbox flyweight champion. He captured this title by scoring a 3rd round TKO over Miguel Garcia on February 7 and his record is reported as 12-3-1(5KOs). Rocchigiani speaks! By Karl Freitag and Andre Courtemanche Former world champion Graciano Rocchigiani, who has brought the WBC to the brink of bankruptcy liquidation by winning a $31 million judgement against the sanctioning organization, spoke yesterday with the Beliner Morgenpost. Rocchigiani stated that he don't know how much he will end up collecting, but he feels the WBC has been putting up obstacles from the beginning and is continuing to try to cheat him. "I will wait," he vowed. "I have already won once when no one thought I would. Why should they not fold again?" Regarding pleas from other WBC champions to accept the WBC's offer, Rocchigiani said, "The WBC offer was a joke, therefore I rejected it. Also, no other world champion was interested in me when [the WBC] stole the belt from me. I got through the thing alone." As for rumors that WBC chief Jose Sulaiman will simply fold the WBC and start a new sanctioning organization, Rocchigiani commented, "I have no idea what they intend, but it is not so simple. Otherwise they could have closed shop two days after the judgement." Finally, Rocky stated that he is retired and will not be lured back into the ring.

Valcárcel: WBO future bright! In a recent interview WBO President, Francisco ‘Paco’ Valcárcel told Fightnews that the future of his organization looks promising and that the bankruptcy problems and possible demise of the WBC won’t have an impact on their plans. “We are established with or without the WBC,” said Valcárcel, who described the WBC situation as a “sad institutional problem.” Regarding former WBO titleholder Felix Sturm's close loss to Oscar de la Hoya, a fight in which many ringside observers saw the German win, Valcárcel repeated a statement that the WBO has made in the past. “In America there is a wrong impression about the quality of European fighters,” said Valcárcel, who mentioned Naseem Hamed and Joe Calzaghe among those who have made their mark through the WBO. “We need to teach America that boxing does not belong exclusively to this continent.” Valcárcel added that he is thrilled to have Miguel Cotto and Kelson Pinto, fighting for the WBO junior welterweight belt. “The best prospect in the world has decided to fight for our title. Pinto may well be the second best prospect in the world." In the heavyweight picture, current champion Lamon Brewster has 180 days to make his mandatory defense against James Toney. “At this moment Toney should be among the top 5 fighters. It is a fight that both need." Currently, Wladimir Klitschko is ranked #6. Valcárcel said the WBO has “no objection for him to get an opportunity.” Valcárcel concluded that the WBO is focusing in social activities, promoting their anti drug program and creating scholarships. The organization will hold their annual convention later this year in Las Vegas. http://www.fightnews.com/nieves004.htm

Hopkins Bashes Tarver "If HBO Wants Somebody To Shut Him Up Once And For All, I'd Do It For A Nice Fee!" June 19 , 2004; Undisputed middleweight king Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins told Boxingtalk .com, "Look Greg, I wasn't counting one by one, but I know there was way more than 100 people at my fight. He makes no sense, he wasn't there because if he was he'd know that there was about 7,000 people there. Don't disrespect me and lie. I am a person that Tarver would love to be as strong minded and strong willed as. Everybody knows that Bernard Hopkins is strong mentally, physically and spiritually. Right now I'm about to get $15M with the PPV sales for the Oscar De La Hoya fight, which I know will go very well. Where is Tarver's $10M purse at? He could try to paint me as a fool but where's his $10M purse at? Guys who try to paint me as a fool have enough sense to not say what Tarver is talking about. At that time I knew what was at the end of the rainbow, which is what's coming up in less than 90 days. He could talk about yesterday all he wants but look where I'm at today. He could kiss up to Sulaiman and the WBC's asses all he wants. He's saying he wants to help the WBC because they helped him but he has an agenda."
Untidy end to Harrison win Audley Harrison retained his WBF heavyweight title tonight with a ninth round stoppage over Tomasz Bonin at the Alexandra Palace, London. The end looked premature with Bonin still in the contest and up on the scorecards. Still undefeated Audley Harrison The large crowd booed controversial referee John Keane's decision to stop the fight. Unsurprisingly, Harrison refused to question the stoppage. "I'm not here to question referees. They are there to protect boxers. Bonin put in a great and a gutsy performance," Harrison told the BBC. "It's been a really hard time over the past two days. "I'm taking a break from boxing for six months. I'm still undefeated and we're sitting with Frank Warren about a fight with [British heavyweight champion] Matt Skelton." http://www.boxing-central.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=4448

Taylor Takes Out Marquez It seemed like target practice as Jermain Taylor (21-0-16K) picked a very outclassed Raul Marquez apart until the corner of Marquez stopped the fight. The question now is when will Taylor step up to take on a serious opponent at 160 pounds. Taylor landed the jab at will and controlled the fight heavily from the outside. Ronnie Shields, the trainer of Marquez, pleaded with him for several rounds to let his hands go, Marquez could not seem to land anything. Taylor suffered a cut on his eyelid after a clash of heads but it was not a factor. Marquez suffered a cut in the ninth round and was knocked down for the first time in his career by Taylor. Once the ninth round was over, Shields had seen enough and told the ref that the fight was over. Marquez landed only one effective punch in the entire fight. Taylor had won every single round prior to Marquez's corner stopping the fight.
Barrera, Taylor dominate foes! In his first bout since his loss to Manny Pacquiao, featherweight Marco Antonio Barrera showed he is still at the elite level by stopping former world champion Paulie Ayala in round ten Saturday night at Home Depot Center in Carson, California. It was a tactical match in which Barrera (58-4, 40 KOs) outboxed, outslugged and outmaneuvered Ayala (35-3, 12 KOs) to easily win every round. Ayala was simply unable to apply the type of pressure that made him successful in his previous fights. Barrera dropped Ayala twice in round eight and again in round ten prompting referee Pat Russell to halt the carnage. Time was 2:34 of the tenth. In the co-feature, middleweight contender Jermain Taylor scored a ninth round TKO over former IBF 154lb champion Raul Marquez. As Taylor figured out the style of the crafty southpaw Marquez, he became increasingly dominant, finally dropping Marquez for the first time in his career in round nine. The bout was stopped when Marquez returned to his corner. After the fight Marquez stated "No more boxing for me. I'm sticking to announcing." Another impressive win for Taylor (21-0, 16 KOs). Marquez ends his career at 35-3 with 24 KOs. The card was promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Top Rank and DiBella Entertainment
Exclusive Interview: Diego "Chico" Corrales June 21, 2004; GL: Your upcoming fight with Acelino Freitas is a bout that could wind up being a brawl from the opening bell, or it could become a chess match since both of you guys have shown the ability to box. What kind of fight do you anticipate this being, a brawl or a boxing match? "I think it's going to be a little bit of both. There's going to be a lot of big shots landed and we're both going to show our boxing skills. I don't think he's going to want to mix it up with me on the inside or spend too much time inside because he knows that's where my best shots land. But I think there's going to come a point in time that he has no choice but to bring it there."

Worth, Texas.
Tarver's Challenge To Hopkins: "Winner Take All Punk! Got Any Excuses Now?" June 21, 2004; Light heavyweight king Antonio "The Magic Man" Tarver. "I thought I was being quite respectful when I did my last interview with you. This punk claims to have thick skin and then nearly has a nervous breakdown when I give him some helpful advice. The Extortionist is all talk and time and time again this has been proven. He's offered 6 million to fight Roy, talks a lot of shit, then punks out at the last minute. He talks about these title defenses against shot or C level fighters and thinks he's made history. Take a close look at who he calls out. Fernando Vargas after Tito beats him, same with David Reid after Tito beats him, Shane Mosley, Jermain Taylor a pup who's still a work in progress. You think we all don't see the pattern? Oh yeah, you'll talk a good game when it come to stepping up and taking a challenge, but no sooner than HBO is ready to televise the fight, you run like a thief in the night. You cause this big drama about Joe Cortez as if we didn't know it was your way to take attention from your dirty fighting in the ring. I should start calling you the Drama Queen. On national television, his idol, "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler embarrasses him by pointing out his sloppy foot work.
Briggs in support of WBC! The WBC light heavyweight world title eliminator between WBC #2 Paul "Hurricane" Briggs (22-1 17 KOs) and undefeated #3 Stipe Drews (26-0 12 KOs) will go ahead in Sydney, Australia on August 15 despite news that the WBC is in financial trouble and about to go into liquidation. Briggs showed his support of the WBC when he made the following comments. "It has been distressing in the past few weeks to read of the situation facing the WBC. However, I have confidence in the organization and that the WBC will survive and prosper to house many more great world champions in the ilk of Ali, Foreman, Lewis, Leonard, De La Hoya, the list goes on. I do not believe that one man in Rocchigiani will bring down this great organisation. It has been my dream since I made my professional debut as a boxer to wear that green belt with pride, this is still my dream. The WBC has done so much for boxers introducing a number of practices and measures that have made our sport the great warrior sport it is today, at all times placing the safety and best interests of the boxers first. For these reasons, I have always remained a committed and loyal boxer of the WBC and I remain committed to becoming a great champion of the WBC. To that end, I am focused on fighting my WBC lightheavy weight world title eliminator against StipeDrews in Australia on August 15. I would then like to fight Antonio Tarver before the end of the year."
NJ Guv wants to kayo Tyson! New Jersey Governor James E. McGreevey isn't thrilled that former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was granted a New Jersey boxing license yesterday and plans to ask members of the NJ Athletic Control Board to reconsider the decision. A McGreevey spokesperson also stated that the governor will also block attempts to place a Tyson fight in facilities the state runs or operates, such as the Meadowlands complex across the river from New York City or Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg!

The Magic Man's Members Only Mailbag It's about time somebody puts The Extortionist in his place. What he did to Tito and the Puerto Rican people was a disgrace. He's always talking a good game but, like you said, he needed to get smacked down. This guy has spent a lot of time calling my name and I needed to set him straight to show you fans that he's really a punk. Fighting him is nothing more than a tune-up. I not only exposed his record, but now, I'm going to exposed the bitch in him. If he gets past Oscar, which is no gimme, his ass is mine before the end of the year. I'm going to give Boxingtalk an exclusive look into a fight negotiation if The Executioner take the challenge just to show you fans how he's punks out of the fight.

Pacquiao impressed by Barrera! Less than two days after arriving from a brief vacation in Bangkok, Manny Pacquiao watched a delayed telecast of last week's Marco Antonio Barrera-Paulie Ayala bout in LA. "I was impressed with Barrera's performance," said Pacquiao. "I expect a tough fight from him when we meet in a rematch." Barrera beat up Ayala in 10 rounds in a scheduled 12-rounder at the Home Depot Center. Pacquiao and Barrera's people are working on a rematch slated in September or October. November is even not out of the question. The fight might even land on pay-per- view, according to Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions. The last time Pacquiao and Barrera fought, in front of over 10,000 fans at the Alamodome in Texas, the Filipino mauled the Mexican, who after the referee stepped in, looked as if he had been mugged by a pack of felons.
are like a family. When WBC CABOFE champion Christopher Shaka Henry was cheated out of a win against undefeated No. 1 rated welterweight Thomas Damgaard in Denmark in February of this year; the only organization that investigated was the WBC. Knowing that Jose Sulaiman stood for honesty and fair treatment for boxers from any part of the world, I felt very sure that something would be done and it was done. We felt so sad, but our great leader handled this great injustice like the father figure he represents to us. Now Shaka is rated No.9 in the world and is now prepared to challenge any of the top rated fighters in the world. Thanks to Mr. Sulaiman. We stand firmly with the WBC and we hope that the problems they are facing currently will be worked out very amicably. They deserve a chance to continue to help all boxers in the great sport that we all love so dearly.
Byrd Threatens To Fly DKP's Coop! June 28, 2004; GL: What's good Chris? "Nothing, absolutely nothing. I'm not even talking to Don King right now. He was supposed to set up a meeting with us but I haven't heard a word from him. He has cards in September and October and I don't know if I'm those cards or not, so I don't know what he's doing. It's getting close to me getting out of the contract and just walking away from him. There are only two guys I want to fight right now, and that's Vitali Klitschko and James Toney. And if James is an easier fight to make, then he could be first and Vitali could be second, but those are the two guys I want to fight the most. With Vitali it's the whole rematch thing, this time I want to knock him out before he quits and then there's Toney, who doesn't stop talking trash. He's on my hit list and I want to do this now. If I stay with Don and we make the fight, then cool. But if I got to leave Don to make the fight, then I'll do it to fight him. If I leave Don the fight would be made the minute I leave Don because I'd let his promoter promote the fight just to fight him. That's how bad I want to shut him up."
Exclusive Interview: Lamon Brewster "Meehan Will Be Tougher Than Klitschko!" June 29, 2004; GL: What's good L? What have you been up to? "I've just basically been starting working on the fundamentals preparing myself for camp. Instead of waiting to get to camp to get in shape, which I feel is a mistake a lot of fighters make, I'm trying to prepare myself as much as possible. This way when I get to camp I can focus more on the fight itself instead of conditioning myself properly. レイモン・ブリュースターのインタビュー。「カリ・ミーハンはクリチコよりタフだろう。」-boxingtalk-
James Toney: ''I'll Knock Vitali's Ass Out!'' ジェームス・トニーのインタビュー。文中にOne of the biggest talkers in boxingと書かれている。 「ジロフ戦は最後までやらない。12Rの前に彼のassをtake outする。 バーナードはone of the biggest sh*t talkers in boxingだ。 俺はreal manだ。2倍の大きさの奴ともやってやる。 03年の途中からbig fights and big winsが中断したが再開する。誰とでもやるし、誰からも逃げない。」 感想としてはsh*t、Ass、f*cking、bitch、がやたら多いなぁと・・・。 http://www.boxingscene.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1589

Foreman: ''Tyson Is The Best Heavyweight'' ジョージ・フォアマンのインタビュー。 IRS(内国歳入 庁)さえも。彼に"良いものを"させて、良い状態でやらせて下さい。」 http://www.boxingscene.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1590

Cintron-Reid for WBO belt! WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito will jump to the jr. middleweight division to challenge WBO jr. middleweight champion Daniel Santos on Sept 11. Although Margarito will not be forced to vacate his welterweight title to challenge Santos, the WBO has scheduled Kermit Cintron (23-0, 21 KO’s) and Teddy Reid (22-5-1, 16 KO’s) to battle for the WBO-interim welterweight championship on July 17 on HBO. Below are the specifics of the agreement: Should Margarito defeat Santos on Sept 11, he will (presumably) remain at jr. middleweight as the WBO champion. Thus, the winner of Cintron-Reid would drop the interim-champion status and become the recognized champion. Should Margarito lose to Santos and drop back down to welterweight, he would be forced to fight the Cintron-Reid winner as his next bout to determine the WBO champion. カーミット・シントロンVSテディー・リードが空位のWBOウエルター級王座をかけて9・11に 行われる。 -fightnews-
