Tyson vs. Etienne is back on!

Mike Tyson vs. Clifford Etienne is back on for Saturday. Seriously
folks! It’s not April Fool’s Day in February and this is not recycled
news. Etienne’s wife, Tiffany, called his promoter Les Bonano at
approximately 9:00 a.m. CT on Wednesday saying that Etienne wanted to
speak to Bonano. “I told her I ain’t going to talk to him, he knows
where I am at. Tell him to call me,” stated Bonano to FightNews.com.
“Sure enough, he called me and said he was going to the gym. I said
great. The fight is on!” confirmed a jubilant Bonano. Bonano was as
surprised as anyone. “I gave up last night,” Bonano had stated to
FightNews.com just thirty minutes prior to Etienne calling to announce
his re-entry into Saturday’s showdown. “I called Jay Larkin ten minutes
ago with the news. Everybody is happy now, including Clifford,” said
a relieved Bonano. “This was not a ploy to get more money for Clifford.
Clifford is his own man and he made his decision to pull out for his own
reason. There is no more money in the pot. Clifford is back in because
he made the decision to fight.” A pleased Gary Shaw, one of the promoters
of Tyson-Etienne, acknowledged to FightNews.com, “Obviously I think it is
great. This is the fight that was scheduled, this is the fight we promised
the fans and this is the fight people bought tickets to see. Shelly Finkel
called me five minutes ago with the news. We were prepared to put in a
substitute opponent. I am happy Clifford changed his mind.” Shaw was on
his way to the airport when FightNews.com caught up him.
