【企業】星野楽器、欧州にマーケティング部門を新設[08/10/03]

　星野楽器は、オランダの駐在員事務所（アムステルダム）にマーケティング部門を
新設した。欧州での同部門設置は初めて。これまで現地音楽家らプロ向けのギター、
ドラムの特注モデルの注文には米国拠点が応えていた。欧州の部門新設によって
プロからの情報収集力を高め、一般向け製品開発にも生かす。０８年１０月期は
欧州全体の売上高６８億円を見込んでおり、２０１０年１０月期は８０億円を目指す。

　星野楽器は全売上高に占める欧州市場の比率が約４割と高い。近年は北欧出身
のバンドが人気を博すなど音楽産業が活発で、プロ、一般向け問わず楽器需要が
旺盛となっている。このため同市場は売上高が年率１０％近く成長している。

　こうした需要を受け、マーケティング部門を置き、まずプロ向けの注文にきめ細かく
対応し、受注を伸ばすことにした。

Never mind that Japan has its own respected guitar brands, including Yamaha and Ibanez. No Japan-made guitar has the ring of an American icon,
and Gibson Guitar Corp.'s biggest competitor here may be another U.S. company famous for electric guitars, Fender Musical Instruments Corp.

Nobuaki Suzuki, an editor for Japanese publication Guitar Magazine, said more Gibson and Fender electric guitars sell here in numbers
-- not just revenue -- than Japanese guitars. "The Americans dominate in numbers," he said. "Then come the domestic-made guitars."

Although Gibson is making marketing pushes in other places where demand is expected to grow, including China, J
apan is still Gibson's biggest market outside the United States and twice as large as its biggest European market,
Great Britain, although the Nashville, Tenn.-based producer of electric and acoustic guitars won't disclose the figures.
