Confident Elpida will be able to replace rival Samsung Electronics as the number-one DRAM supplier within two years, company president and CEO Yukio Sakamoto has updated information about the company's expansion plans, projecting Elpida, together with its allies, will be able to deliver a monthly capacity of 600,000 12-inch wafers in 2010. Following the recently announced plans to raise DRAM contract quotes, Sakamoto also called for the resumption of a healthy pricing mechanism.
