1. Nice ... copy of everything they could see or buy. Real original.

2. Not too original: -1 I only see two pedals: -infinity
forget it, Toyota. Didn't you learn... stop making people laugh at you

3. To me, it looks alot like the next-gen Nissan Skyline GT-R(R35?!). The way the hood slants twards the back and the side profile...just my thoughts. Lata...

6. YuCk! No originality.

7. Toyota's designers also postulate a unique retractable roof, which will slide and then lie down inside the car covering the backseat, rendering the car a two-seater.

9. Too modern as for me. I prefer more classic style

10. No originality? What pictures are you guys looking at???
What else is currently on the road with that kind of style and a hybrid powertrain? What else on the road has a retractable roof & rear-glass panels like that?
Is it pretty? Maybe not, but it certainly doesn't copy anything either.

11. You honestly can't please everybody, just look at the comments in response to any post that debuts any vehicle.
It's funny how everyone always says "it looks like..." Of course it's going to look like some vehicle made in the past; it's difficult to come up with a new innovative design that no one has done before.

15. Poor Saab. While everyone labels them with a bad reputation, they are simultaneously being copied by everyone in the business. The cabin filter, centralized display, active head restraints, ventilated seats, and now the entirety of the 9-x are being copied.

17. Fugly but original (like an r8).

18. Front end reminds me of an F1. Other than that, I have no opinion.

19. Hybrid "sports" car = moronic
Sorry but the last way to add "sport" is by throwing in a crapload of battery packs. The Tesla is an exception because the weight is INSTEAD of an engine and fuel, not IN ADDITION TO.
That, and the Accord has already proved that performance hybrids are not a big market - something that Toyota could have learned by watching the innovators, but instead will make a costly mistake with its silly Lexus "h" line.

20. Oh and it's ugly as sin. Makes EVO/STI look attractive by comparison.

22. __ I WONDERED WHEN WE WOULD SEE THE NEXT AMPHICAR-- LOL
Actually, not bad, except the front end, needs revision, and some more changes for production, if they are going to try to plug this into the old Supra spot (best place). But I hate to give them any good advice, as they would be very happy to sit in Japan and control our Auto market, finishing what they started in 1941.

24. I think it looks incredible. I'm surprised at what I'm reading here because my opinion generally mirrors what I read in the comments. I just think it's very stylish and original, not to mention around four second acceleration and a mid-$30k pricetag. All of this with a hybrid powertrain. What am I missing here?

28. besides the green house that looks like the upcoming Nissan GT-R, this is not too shaby from Toyota as a next gen Supra,
but then again, Toyota stop copying Nissan - bring your oen design to market, not someone elses

29. #24, answer to your last question; brain cells.
30. What's wrong with you guys? Toyota have always made good sports cars, like the Celica and MR2, and I certainly don't see this one as being any different.

31. to #31, dont be a import hater just because they make beter cars.

32. What's up with all the harsh comments? You'd think the Detroit boys were trolling the comments section here to stir up negative feelings towards their new overlords. LOL Wouldn't surprise me with how desperate they are. This is one kick ass hybrid! Toyota is the future. Oh, and Honda too. Peace.

33. "10. No originality? What pictures are you guys looking at???"
Actually, it looks like the crack baby (meaning deformed and ugly) of the upcoming Lotus Esprit, which was previewed a couple months ago, and the Nissan GT-R, which was previewed several times in the last few years. So yes, it has no originality except for the powertrain. And honestly, who buys a sports car to save the environment?

35. Now that I've gotten the link to work and seen the pictures of the car and interior, I have to rethink my prior comment ... IT IS REALLY FUGLY AND ANYONE WHO WOULD EVEN CONSIDER THIS TO BE A MARKED IMPROVEMENT OVER OTHER CARS HAS TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT WITH A SHRINK! This is s-o-o-o-o-o a copy of the Saab, right down to the futuristic dash, that it's laughable.

36. It looks like the toyota version of the Lexus LF-A prototype considering it's airtakes are in the rear.

38. The solo space of Toyota FT-HS Hybrid is a concept of centering the vehicle around the driver. It does give the driver a sense of control beyond a typically production car. This vehicle seems to really have a quite a flare and I believe will win in the “Best Featured Car at Detroit Auto Show Poll”

39. hmmm.... have you guys seen the real thing yet?? It's funny how people judge a 3D object by looking at the color pixels on their tiny screen.
Posted at 1:52PM on Dec 27th 2006 by gus 0 stars
40. why do people hate on this concept so much? hybrid power is going to be the future trend and fossil fuel will be replaced. why don't all you people try to draw a blueprint of a car you think that looks good and show it to the public? I bet all you people are just the haters because of the lack of creativity. Also, in comparision, it makes either the Evo/STI look outdated in design wise. It is going to be a hit if it comes out as a production car. Good job, Toyota~~
Posted at 1:20PM on Dec 27th 2006 by Jim 0 stars
41. Obviously it's polarizing, because I love the design. If they hit 400hp for $35k with exceptional MPG and the potential for a hybrid tax deduction/credit, a lot of people will love it.
